Yerma

Athens based Ilias Kampanis is composer, producer, guitarist and mixing engineer. His album 'Yerma' is music based on the homonymous play by Federico Garcia Lorca. The composition draws elements of tradition, earthly and natural sounds, which it juxtaposes with modern rhythmic patterns and a vocabulary of film music. The music from the string quartet is combined with clarinet, bagpipes, lute and percussion. Sounds from the Spanish peninsula, the mountains, the desert and native Greek tradition come together in this production with modern structures and contemporary timbres.
