Izzy Johnson is a musician, artist, and producer born and based in Southeast Michigan lands stewarded by the Anishinaabe people, who include the Odawa and Potawatomi. A self-taught guitarist, she started writing songs in her late teens as a way to process living with chronic illness. It became a source of healing, freedom, and awarenes. In the songs Izzy usually finds herself reflecting on the uncertainties and complexities of life, using guitar to translate the subtleties, pains, and pleasures of her growth.
