Nkrumah "Jah" Thomas hails from Kingston in Jamaica and was a DJ and producer who came to fame in the 1970s, during the gene's heyday. He set up his own labels Midnight Rock and Nura and this dub album catches him at the peak of his powers. There is plenty of air and room in each of these tracks, meaning you get drawn right in and left to marvel at the horns, the glistening bells and the rich, endless echo. It's one for the head as much as anything else and provides endless hours of smoking soundtrack material.
