Black Sabbath

Syracuse 1976 - The New York State Broadcast

Black Sabbath began work on their seventh studio album, 'Technical Ecstasy,' in Miami, Florida, in June 1976. During the recording of the record Ozzy Osbourne admitted that he began losing interest in Black Sabbath and considered the possibility of working with other musicians. Recording sessions were difficult and by the time the album was completed, Osbourne was admitted to Stafford County Asylum in Britain. Released on 25th September 1976, the album featured less of the doomy, ominous sound of previous efforts, and incorporated more synthesisers and up-tempo rock songs. 'Technical Ecstasy' failed to reach the top 50 in the U.S., and was the band's second consecutive release not to achieve platinum status, although it was later certified gold. Touring in support of the new release began in October 1976, kicking off in the U.S. with openers Boston and Ted Nugent. This live performance is however a necessary step forward. SIDE 1: 1.
