Recorded in Texas, this is an intriguing doom-folk album by a singer-songwriter based in Dunedin, New Zealand. Emily's vocal style elicits comparisons to PJ Harvey, Bridget St. John, Emmylou Harris and Cat Power, and at times one can also hear influences from Will Oldham's storytelling, or the dusty soundscapes of Calexico.
