Brave New World comprised an international cast of musicians including a.o. Reinhart Firchow (recorders, flutes, ocarina, stylophone, percussion, vocals), John O'Brien-Docker (guitars, organ, percussion, vocals, wind chimes) and Herb Geller (flutes, cor anglais, saxophones, organ). The music is an eclectic blend of medieval tunes, folk, electronic music, jazz and krautrock. The origins of Cos date back to the second half of the sixties when Daniel Schell joined forces with Jean-Paul Musette, Pascale Son and Robert Pernet to form Classroom. When Classroom split, Daniel Schell and Pascale Son moved ahead and formed Cos together with Charles Loos, Alain Goutier and Bob Dartsch. They produced an experimental jazz rock sound linked to the influences above mentioned, but without being mere copycats since they always managed to keep to their own personality.
'Babel' was Cos' third long playing release, issued in 1978. It represented a new step in the band's evolution with the addition of new influences that ranged from musique dodécaphonique, minimalist droning, or even a hint of disco, without turning their backs to their earlier love for Canterbury sounds or more conventional jazz-rock. Dirk Bogaert, Francis Cahen and Marc Moulin all played in its sessions, making this a superb sample of what was going on through the Belgian music scene in those days. The Wah Wah reissue comes housed in a beautiful reproduction of the original sleeve. Limited edition of 500 copies, licensed from and with the collaboration of Daniel Schell.

'Viva Boma' was their second LP, originally issued in November 1976, and added some African influences to the mix, including the cover which, designed by Alain Goutier upon a concept by Daniel Schell, depicted a trio of hipopotamus that made reference to Boma, a portuary city at the banks of the river Congo, and Bomma, Belgian word for grandmother (hence the title appearing either with one or two m's on different parts of the artwork). The Wah Wah reissue comes housed in a beautiful reproduction of the original sleeve and an insert with photos and liner notes. DR. STRANGELY STRANGE - RADIO SESSIONS
Irish psychedelic folkies Dr. Strangely Strange were active from 1968-1971. Their two Joe Boyd-produced albums from that era, 'Kip Of The Serenes' (Island) and 'Heavy Petting' (Vertigo), are both highly sought after by collectors. In their heyday, the band recorded only two BBC radio sessions, a 'Top Gear' slot and an 'In Concert,' both with John Peel. Frustratingly, the BBC's tapes were wiped, but after extensive research with European collectors, TLAK has been able to locate off-air recordings of both sessions, which have been painstakingly restored. Added to these are brief radio sessions for Dutch and Danish radio sourced from the original recordings, as well as a Dublin rehearsal take of 'Sign On My Mind' featuring Gary Moore, a friend of the band and guest on 'Heavy Petting.' Limited gatefold vinyl pressing with 4-page illustrated booklet featuring previously unpublished photos compiled by Strangelies biographer Adrian Whittaker.

FUZZ - FUZZ
Fuzz is comprised of Ty Segall (drums/vocals), Charlie Moothart
(guitar/vocals) and Roland Cosio (bass). They're heavy rock
lifers, three California-bred dudes who have been refining
their riffs and getting weird together since high school (which
wasn't that long ago, actually). If you are not already aware
of Segall, well, what's up? He's one of garage rock's most
prolific sons. He said he was going to take it easy this year,
but by the time you finish reading this, the onesheet for his
next record will have already arrived in your inbox. Moothart
plays guitar in The Ty Segall Band and was also a member of The Moonhearts, which included Cosio on guitar. Way back in the
early '00s, all three played in the Epsilons. Fuzz was formed a
couple years ago as a collaboration between Segall and
Moothart, but only recently did the pair have sufficient time
to guide the band out of side-project limbo and into a
recording studio. Since then, they have released two singles,
'This Time I Got a Reason' (Trouble In Mind) and 'Sleigh Ride'
(In The Red). Around the time of the latter, Cosio joined on
bass. They are not dabblers or dilettantes. Fuzz flipped
through used bins, hard drives and record collections of the world, seeking out the finest weirdo cuts. The band's
self-titled debut LP, which was recorded by Chris Woodhouse
(Thee Oh Sees, The Intelligence), dives deep, drawing
inspiration from the more esoteric reaches of heavy metal
pre-history. There are Sabbath and Hendrix nods, obviously, but
on 'Sleigh Bells' you might also catch a whiff of UK
progressive blues business like The Groundhogs, particularly
when the song quits its 10/4-time intro and reboots into
full-bore choogle. Maybe you'll even glimpse the ghost of
Australian guitar legend/sharpie guru Lobby Lloyde sniffing around 'Raise'. The mood is not light. The songs project a
state of perpetual paranoia and eroding mental health.

NIRVANA (UK) - DEDICATED TO MARKOS III (+7")
Nirvana's third LP is a masterpiece of late UK sixties popsike turning into symphonic pop, but not having received proper promotion despite being equally good as, if not better than their previous releases, it also marked the end of the collaborations between Patrick Campbel-Lyons and Alex Spyropoulos back in 1969. Nirvana presented it to Island boss Chris Blackwell under the title of 'Black Flower.' Blackwell, however, decided to turn it down for release, but gave the masters to Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos so they could find a new label to release the album. That was to happen in the USA through Metromedia Records in 1969. At that time, the label's owner went through a scandal due to the payola days, which left Nirvana's third offering without any promotion - as a result of that, very few copies were pressed. There was also a UK release on PYE and it was even released by Metromedia in Japan. However, for years it remained as "the lost" Nirvana release, with the added fact that none of the released editions launched the album under its original title of 'Black Flower' but under the rather cryptic 'Dedicated To Markos III' (read why in the liner notes!). Musically, this is Nirvana at their best. The tune that should have been the title track, 'Black Flower,' is an incredible piece of symphonic psychedelia and probably the best produced Nirvana track ever. Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos were backed for the occasion by Spooky Tooth, who played on many tracks of the album, and big orchestral arrangements mesmerize the listener in one of the duo's darkest offerings. This song aside, the rest of the album was deemed as sounding too much like a French soundtrack by Island, which may do at some points -without that being a bad thing,- but there is a lot more to it, since Nirvana have not lost that popsike edge that characterised their sound in their two previous outings. This is also a record that was widely acclaimed in the hip hop scene. And samplers of it have been used by several artists, most notably DJ Shadow used 'Love Suite' in his 1996 debut album 'Endtroducing.' The Wah Wah edition has been remastered from the original tapes by Roger Prades at Prades Mastering and comes with a bonus 7" EP (featuring the tracks 'We Can Make It Through,' 'Love Suite Take 2' and 'June') and a four page colour insert with liner notes by Malcom Dome, plus a sheet with the lyrics of the songs. First ever official vinyl reissue since 1970 in a limited edition of 500 copies only!

NIRVANA (UK) - LOCAL ANAESTHETIC
After Patrick Campbell-Lyons and Alex Spyropoulos dissolved their partnership, they both went separate ways in the music scene. Campbell-Lyons began work on the 'Local Anaesthetic' songs while going through a series of personal matters which ended up being reflected in the tone of the album. He did release it under the Nirvana name in 1971, but what we have here is a totally different thing. He decided to break with what had been doing up to that moment, and came up with an experimental progressive rock album that was perfectly suited for the Vertigo label through which it was released. Musically, it has been compared to "something Frank Zappa could have done." It was not inspired by Zappa, but it certainly explored similar boundaries as he may have done in his works, often moving away from that pop sensitivity that had characterized Nirvana's previous outings. A unique sounding piece in their catalogue. And although being so far from what was the Nirvana sound, we have another excellent LP here that has become a most sought after piece among collectors. Pianist/keyboardist Patrick Joseph "Pete" Kelly helped Campbell-Lyons complete the LP, which also featured collaborations by Jon Field, with whom Campbell-Lyons had the pre-Nirvana band Second Thoughts and who would later go to form The Tomcats, July and Jade Warrior - Jade Warrior's Tony Duhig had also played in Second Thoughts. Some brass arrangements are thrown in, but the orchestra is gone in favour of a harder free form, prog-rock sound. The Wah Wah reissue is housed in the original gatefold sleeve and features one bonus track with the 1971 single version of 'The Saddest Day Of My Life.' It's the first ever official vinyl reissue since 1971. 500 copies only!

Once again a work by Patrick Campbell-Lyons without Alex Spyropoulos, this time 'Songs Of Love And Praise' showed a return to a more classic Nirvana sound. Campbell-Lyons revisited two of the most loved songs by the band, 'Pentecost Hotel' from their debut LP and 'Rainbow Chaser' from their second one. The album opens precisely with the amazing uptempo beat of 'Rainbow Chaser,' which, while sounding faithful to the original recording, comes with a totally different approach on the arrangements. Campbell-Lyons states on the liners that he went for a step further in that field, and looked for a jazzy atmosphere. It sets the tone of the album: upbeat good vibrations songs that differ from the dark mood of the previous 'Local Anaesthetic' LP and that besides these two songs revisited presents all new material. Uplifted and positive, 'Songs Of Love And Praise' gives what the title promises to take the classic Nirvana sound from their first three albums one step further with the collaboration of Bobby Harrison (Procol Harum, Snafu) Lesley Duncan, Maggie Bell and Sylvia Schuster (who had already played live with Nirvana at the time of their debut album). The Wah Wah edition is the first ever official vinyl edition since 1971. Pip Proud, sui generis, could be considered an Australian
outsider, with his untutored and uninhibited singing style, his
primal guitar playing, his resolutely personal vision captured on recordings from 1967 to the early '70s - except that, unlike most outsiders, he was loved and accepted, with two of his three album releases on a major label, with frequent television appearances and coverage in music magazines. Heralded in his native land though he was, he maintained a low profile from the early '70s, never made an impact overseas, and his recordings have been difficult to access. This collection has been selected by Proud's biographer David Nichols and will engender a new appreciation of Proud's music. Considered by some as a sort of Antipodean Syd Barrett, listeners will hear that Pip was clearing his own private and primal path, more poet than pop star, despite the media attention. Other than one Velvets-style band track, all songs here feature Pip solo, some
with appealingly primitive overdubs. Fans of ramshackle oddball

'Experimental Health' is the 14th album from The Telescopes and
their third release on Weisskalt. The Telescopes are an all-embracing concern which began in 1987 - the only constant, being sole composer and instigator, Northumbrian born, Stephen Lawrie. The band's line-up is in constant flux: there can be anywhere between 1 and 20 members on a recording. This album was created entirely independently by Lawrie in a remote cottage in West Yorkshire between January and May 2022.
'Experimental Health' is folk music made with broken toys and cheap synths - mostly Pocket Operators and miniature synths. Here are no guitars present on the album, most of the instrumentation costing £50 or less. The complexity of sound rests within the simplicity of the composition and musical arrangements. Ton Vlasman recorded this amazing piece of acid euro folk back in 1970, making it sound like an outter space freaked out Bob Dylan with the help of Frans Schoonen (organ, flute and harmonica) and Leo van Vugt (chincha tumba and tambourine). The seven original compositions are stunning, drug inspired psychedelic pieces of acid folk that mix Dylan with Indian ragas and even add some Pink Floyd overtones, yet from an acoustic rather than electric point of view. And the album contains also a very cool version of The Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes". If you evered wondered how would Dylan have sounded covering The V.U., here's a close example! The album, originally released on the small Flame label from Amsterdam, sold poorly back in the seventies - thus becoming a collector's piece when it was rediscovered in the eighties. Since then it has been gathering new fans that pay small fortunes for a copy, no reissue has been available until now that Wah Wah offers 500 copies in a lavish edition that will probably sell out soon, so grab your copy before it's too late! The beautiful cover art and full color poster insert with the lyrics are the work of Leendert Le Duc, and both are here faithfully reproduced as they deserve. The Wah Wah reissue also features an extra insert with a text by reputed dutch collector Jean Jöbses and a couple of rare unseen period photos courtesi of the Frans Schoonen and Leo van Vugt archives. The album has been carefully remastered by sound wizard Denis Blackham @ Skye Mastering, making these songs sound like never before.

Though presented as a band, Zweistein basically was the project of Suzanne Doucet, a successful German pop singer and TV personality then, and now a famous voice in New Age music. She recorded her avant-garde master piece with her sister Diane and sound engineer Peter Kramper, who's also been involved in recordings of The Rattles, Blizzards, Hawkwind, Amon Düül and Utopia. Simply obliterating any conception of the Wipers as a mere punk band, Greg Sage released this follow-up to 'Is This Real?' in 1981 - a sophisticated, overwhelming response to the evil times marked by the turn of the decade. Broken up into six long songs, 'Youth Of America' is a much colder, harrowing experience than the teen angst of their debut. Vocally, Sage comes off as sleep-deprived and forsaken, snarling not only at
his own predicament but at the predicament of the entire world.
The centerpiece of the album is the title track, a dire ten minutes of paranoia and angst that gave Sage the space to showcase his wildest, darkest playing yet. As bassist Brad
Davidson and drummer Brad Naish hold the same hypnotic rhythm for the entire song, the guitar careens and swoops with such a frantic energy it seems as though it's the only thing keeping Sage alive in the maelstrom of sound. It's a fitting commentary that the exacting, post-punk legends Mission Of Burma and squalling, noisy thugs The Melvins both saw fit to cover the track. Completely remastered from the original tapes, pressed on audiophile vinyl, and housed in a heavy tip-on sleeve.

The Slayerking is a three piece dark metal act from Greece featuring Efthimis Karadimas of the mighty Nightfall. Their sound is dark with lots of low ends primarily due to tuned baritone vintage guitars and big drums. At the same time it maintains an aggressive tone thanks to the characteristic nervy, "punky" way EK and KK play their bass and guitar respectively. Definitely aggressive and fat. With enlightening notes by band member Jun Harada providing historical background and recording information, stressing their love of improvisation and their ongoing quest for liberation, this is a landmark release, offering a glimpse into a hitherto inaccessible netherworld of the Tokyo/Yokohama post-punk underground. The music here, all improvised, with many of the pieces recorded live, have an edge-of-the-world electricity, informed by the group's fascination with the Surrealist idea of Automatic Writing. The launch point is a brutalist, knuckle-dragging Conrad/Faust thug-riff featuring the hectoring rants of a stage-invading student activist, dramatically melded with the music by the sound engineer. From there we traverse manifold realms, variously propulsive and static, dense and pointillistic, threatening and whimsical, opaque and translucent. Inryo-fuen's searching use of the basic rock instrumentation of drums, bass and guitar is augmented with keyboards and, on one piece, acoustic instrumentation. No

Morrowyellow weas founded in 1983 in the North-East town of Verona, after the split of the punk band Eva Braun. It was a collaboration between Mauro Marchesi (keyboards and electronics) and Joyello Triolo (vocals and guitar). Morrowyellow is an electronic sound experiment supporting the fascination for the arts and oriental music. A study that would lead to collaborations with avant-garde theater and contemporary dance until 1985. with the entry of Turco Max (bass and guitar) they began to develop an interest in live appearances. The band recorded a great demo ('My Colours') and some other material, all included in this anthology. Cutting their teeth as teens in a West Bromwich bedroom, The Sea Urchins were nothing like the heavy metal that seemed to fill every bar in the UK black Country. Fringe haircuts, perfect trousers, suede jackets and infectious tambourines gave plenty of hints as to their youthful ambition, but nothing could fully prepare you for just how utterly spellbinding these songs would be. Compiling their fanzine-only flexi material with the full complement of singles for Sarah Records, 'Stardust' runs chronologically from late 1986 to the middle of 1989, beginning with the singles split for Clare Wadd's Kvatch and Matt Haynes' Sha La La, before hitting the first of what would be an even hundred releases from the new label Wadd and Haynes would form - Sarah. The song that launched a legendary label and defined a sound, a scene, a place and time; 'Pristine Christine' still rings out as immediate and magical today as it did on first listen. What a glorious jangly rush racing around the corners of pop's history! The band would reach such heights time and again over the course of this three year burst. The melancholy swinging folk of 'Everglade' and it's wonderfully yearning vocal; the organ-fueled British invasion garage rock sing-a-long of 'Solace'; the playful psych pop of 'A Morning Odyssey'; the acoustic sweep of 'Wild Grass Pictures'; the perfectly named 'Summershine' leaving you with a ramshackle smile out on the dancefloor. All of it is just so filled with delicate humanity, yet somehow absolutely perfect.
As Bob Stanley said about the shimmering ballad 'Please Rain Fall' while bestowing it with NME Single Of The Week (an honor also bestowed upon 'Pristine Christine'), "think of some variations on the word marvelous and you're most of the way there." In their time, they might have seemed wildly out of step, but it's not crazy to say that things could have been very different for the likes of Radiohead, The La's, and Oasis without The Sea Urchins.

First ever vinyl reissue of this cult album from 1975. 'Défense De' was the first album of Jean-Jacques Birgé and Francis Gorgé, before founding Un Drame Musical Instantané with Bernard Vitet in 1976. They had started to play together while at high school, and on their debut LP they were joined by percussionist Shiroc (who also played in Speed Limit). The album's four tracks were recorded in the family apartment of free jazz producer Sebastien Bernard, who had several nice instruments belonging to his father, like a pipe organ, an electric piano, a xylophone and a cello, a.o. The songs were taped on an 8-track recorder and also feature Antoine Duvernet from Urban Sax, who added tenor sax. Shiroc and pianist Jean-Louis Bucchi (also from Speed Limit) joined the duo some months later and the songs they feature in were recorded live in studio. Birgé and Gorgé gigged as a trio with Shiroc, sometimes with the addition of Gilles Rollet on further percussion. The resulting sounds were released on the 'June Sessions' DVD (included as a free bonus on this LP). The DVD will include the experimental movie 'La Nuit Du Phoque' made by Jean-Jacques Birgé and Bernard Mollerat in 1974. The movie is a mix between avant-garde French movie and experimental ambience which takes the viewer back in time to 1974. The second part of the DVD will include 'June Sessions' which are very long pieces made by the trio (or quartet at times). Total of about 6 hours of music and 40 minutes movie in a Double LP & DVD set.

And so it is with 'A Last Discovery', the work of Spaniard Juan Alberto Arteche Guel and his musical co-adventurers, recorded between 1984 and 2001. After fifteen years of musical success in Spain with his band Nuestro Pequeno Mundo, Arteche was ready to experiment with new ideas, and with the purchase of a four-track reel-to-reel recorder he did so, exploring imaginary global music-worlds with a core of like-minded explorers. The group, dubbed Finis Africae by JAA after reading Umberto Eco's 'The Name Of The Rose', where the term refers to forbidden books and hidden knowledge, released seven recordings over an eighteen-year period, the best of which are compiled here. Finis Africae was part of the "new wave" of Spanish music which gradually emerged after the end of the Francoist regime. Using modern electric instruments and traditional acoustic instruments from many cultures blended together via studio alchemy, a magic which grew even stronger with the acquisition of a sixteen-track
recorder after their second release, Finis Africae created an
outward-looking musical multiverse, an unclassifiable amalgam
encompassing elements of folk traditions from all over the world, skillfully and lovingly shaped into an inclusive pan-global whole. Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) formed in the mid-1970s as a loose-knit experimental music collective and multimedia publishing vehicle. Founded by teenage Le Forte Four members Chip Chapman, Joe Potts and Rick Potts and soon joined by Tom Recchion of Doo-Dooettes, LAFMS incorporated free improvisation, modular synthesizers, tape music, sampling, musique concrète, homemade instruments, noise, mail art and avant-rock in permissive and anarchic sessions at the Raymond Building and Poo-Bah Record Shop in old Pasadena. Inspired by The Residents, LAFMS self-released records and periodicals, organized performances and connected with fellow outsiders via post in the years before punk. Their uninhibited, egalitarian ideal of music-making and DIY distribution would influence generations of underground artists. Poo-Bah Records, with its import bins and backroom jam space, attracted the pseudonymous artists forming the initial incarnation of long-running collective Smegma. Early members Ju Suk Reet Meate, Dennis Duck, Cheez-it Ritz, Big Dirty, Amazon Bambi and Dr. Id contributed to various LAFMS compilations and combinations before several core members relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1975, where they recorded their debut album 'Glamour Girl 1941.' Originally released on the LAFMS label in 1979, the LP combines rock instrumentation with tape, synthesizer, horns and voice in a tempestuous cauldron of anti-academy improv and alien noise. Beyond its roots in LAFMS, Smegma would help shape the early Portland punk scene in the late '70s alongside Wipers and Neo Boys. In more recent years, they have collaborated with Merzbow and Wolf Eyes. This first-time vinyl reissue is limited to 500 numbered copies. Comes with insert.

Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) formed in the mid-1970s as a loose-knit experimental music collective and multimedia publishing vehicle. Founded by teenage Le Forte Four members Chip Chapman, Joe Potts and Rick Potts and soon joined by Tom Recchion of Doo-Dooettes, LAFMS incorporated free improvisation, modular synthesizers, tape music, sampling, musique concrète, homemade instruments, noise, mail art and avant-rock in permissive and anarchic sessions at the Raymond Building and Poo-Bah Record Shop in old Pasadena. Inspired by The Residents, LAFMS self-released records and periodicals, organized performances and connected with fellow outsiders via post in the years before punk. Their uninhibited, egalitarian ideal of music-making and DIY distribution would influence generations of underground artists. LAFMS primarily reached outside Los Angeles via word-of-mouth and the United States Postal Service, foreshadowing the self-publishing and cassette trading networks of post-punk and industrial subcultures. In 1976, Joe Potts solicited recordings from LAFMS affiliates and admirers to edit and compile 'I.D. Art #2,' utilizing correspondence art's technique of "assemblings." (The first installment in this series was a magazine, and the third was a coloring book.) Potts received dozens of pieces by members of Le Forte Four, Doo-Dooettes, Smegma and Ace & Duce as well as painters, filmmakers and non-artists with few recording credits to their name, creating a delirious, winking sound-art collage of field recordings, voicemails and improvisations. Participants purchased time on the record and received one copy each of the finished LP, realizing the philosophy contained in LAFMS' motto: "The music is free, but you have to pay for the plastic, paper, ink, glue and stamps." This first-time vinyl reissue is limited to 500 numbered copies. Comes with insert.

VARIOUS - SOUND
'Sound: An Exhibition Of Sound Sculpture, Instrument Building And Acoustically Tuned Spaces' opened at the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art in the summer of 1979 (and was also on view later that year at PS1 in New York). Curated by Bob Wilhite and Robert Smith, the exhibition surveyed the field of sound art. The forty-four participants were painters pivoted toward performance, conceptual artists attracted to time-based mediums, self-styled creators of environments, and musicians (formally trained and otherwise) fashioning new instruments from household items and consumer electronics. They were more or less object-oriented and, at the same time, more or less music-oriented. What brought them all together, as the exhibition catalog gamely asserted, was sculpting in three-dimensional space. The 'Sound' exhibit included installations, recordings played in the exhibition space and a series of live performances, demonstrating instruments that otherwise rested inert in the gallery. For a broader sense of the show than a single visit provided, the curators also produced a compilation album featuring short pieces, or excerpts from longer works, by many of the participants. (Artists in the exhibition, but not on the LP included Alvin Lucier and Mike Kelley.) Selections from bright lights of the 20th century avant-garde - such as composers Bill Fontana, Yoshi Wada and Paul DeMarinis; conceptual artists and performance artists Terry Fox, Tom Marioni and Jim Pomeroy; experimental vocalist Joan La Barbara; and Los Angeles Free Music Society members Tom Recchion and John Duncan - feature alongside the sounds of Jim Hobart's tuned jars, Ivor Darreg's fretless banjo, Doug Hollis' aeolian harp and Richard Dunlap's rubber bands. 400 LONELY THINGS - MOTHER MOON
This album from 400 Lonely Things, produced by William Basinski, is a dark ambient, sample-based séance to the Banning Mill - a real-life decaying "mansion" and haven for artists, freaks and misfits in the backwoods of the American Deep South in the 1970s-1990s - and an extraordinary piece of art that lived there. An archaeological excursion in found sound - wandering through the art and memory of a real place, 'Mother Moon' is an origin story for 400 Lonely Things. In the '90s, Craig Varian was fortunate enough to frequent the Mill in the years before it closed. It was here that he was exposed to the artwork of Richard Scott Hill, whose artwork 'Minotauress' graces the album cover. His work both captured and fed into the Mill's sinister yet playful undercurrents of mania and depression. This album, born out of that first visit to the Mill, is an imaginary soundtrack to the many years of solitude the Minotauress spent hanging in the musty, secret winding halls of Banning Mill. Since the days of the Mill (and Varian's subsequent purchase of 'Minotauress' shortly before the Mill closed), Craig Varian, along with best friend and late musical partner Jonathan McCall, found a thread of music they'd been consistently making yet had previously failed to notice - melancholic instrumentals with weathered sampling at its core - going back to their earliest recordings in the late 1980's. Eventually, this music was called 400 Lonely Things.

DEAD VOICES ON AIR - ABRADER REDUX
The hugely sought-after debut album from Dead Voices On Air (Mark Spybey of Download/ ex-Zoviet France, Reformed Faction), featuring cEvin Key (Skinny Puppy/Download). 'Abrader' blends processed sounds from primitive instruments and found objects into hypnotic looped rhythmic structures, with dark clusters of heavy ambient washes into what could be described as Organic Panambience, or 'music for the eyes'. 'Abrader' was the first of over 80 releases (so far) by Mark Spybey using the name Dead Voices On Air. It was recorded over the space of days in Vancouver in 1993 and released as a tape the following year by Akifumi Nakajima (Aube), for his G.R.O.S.S. label. Chronologically, the material was recorded after most of the music that made up his first two releases on compact disc - 'New Words Machine' and 'Hafted Maul' - however, 'Abrader' was released before both of those albums. 'Abrader Redux' features the three lengthy tracks that were released on the original cassette, plus the bonus tracks that were included in the 2009 reprint as part of the 'Fast Falls The Eventide' double CD, and now with two 'new' previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded 1994 - taking this masterwork up to 7 tracks and over 67 minutes of exceptional music. "If most ambient is the laudanum of the new fin de siécle, then Dead Voices on Air are the absinthe." (Village Voice).

HINO, MAYUKO - LUNISOLAR
'Lunisolar' is the second solo album from the "Queen Of Japanese Noise" Mayuko Hino. 'Faintainhead' unleashes swathes of densely layered noise, undulating in intensity and ferociousness. Although claustrophobic throughout, there are moments of gentle metallic percussion, punctuating the raging vibrations beneath. 'Astral Travelling' offers no such relief, featuring unrelenting, piercing electronics throughout until the final few minutes of psychedelic comedown. In addition to self-made instruments, Hino plays noise with her six-theremin oscillators (in bright pink) - the one and only in the world, specially made by Ryo Araishi (a.k.a. Ichion). Prolific as a live performer, Hino is most well-known for forming C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990, together with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo. In its early phase, the band grabbed attention by combining noise music with Hino's sadomasochism performance using bondage ropes and dripping candle wax. She has since been a member of Mne-Mic, DFH-M3, and Transparentz.

While the last two releases concentrated on what could be described as "observations on humanity's ability to drag itself down to its lowest common denominator," this work focuses on a more localised depravity - that of the lone wolf. An individual who, having no moral compass, has no boundaries to cross. An overcast autumn afternoon in the forest and a light rain crackles the fallen leaves. The camera, low to the ground, follows behind a pair of well-worn work boots as they approach a rundown shack deep in the undergrowth. As we move closer the air seems to thicken. To the side is what appears to be a shed or garage. Wooden double doors rotten at the base but firmly chained and padlocked. The camera moves to the front and rises to eye level. Hands reach out to undo the locks. For some inescapable reason we know that inside we are going to find pure unadulterated evil. Welcome to The Woods. 'Interdimensional' explores the paraphysical dimension of cosmic music. It completes the dilation process of Sonologyst's sound, which began with the albums 'Silencers' and 'Ancient Death Cults And Beliefs,' forming an ideal trilogy inspired by what is beyond the boundaries of science. 'Interdimensional' is inspired by the scientist Michio Kaku who theorized what could be the remote future of the human species, beyond matter, the stars, and known dimensions. A future that could lead us to the victory over the end of everything, beyond the foreseen and inevitable death of the universe known to us. Also a cosmic record in terms of sound, 'Interdimensional' is pervaded by a sense of stasis reminiscent of Thomas Köner's isolationist electronics, but still characterised by the use of electrified instruments, analogue synthesizers and recordings of resonant metal objects. Unlike the previous records, however, the typical dark experimental/post industrial sound of Sonologyst is filtered through hazy warping reverberations, and infinite delays, which musically depict the intergalactic journey of a civilization in search of a possible future beyond death.
