'Am I Dreaming?' is the 2023 album by the very prolific Finnish psych/space/kraut project Astral Magic that has been channelling psychedelic and spacey music from other dimensions since March 2020. This time the inspiration came from late '60s/early '70s psych/garage/prog rock (think early Floyd, Stones, The Beatles, 13th Floor Elevators, The Byrds, The Who, The Zombies, Hawkwind etc.). As usual, Santtu Laakso (ex-Dark Sun) got help from international cast of psych rock veterans like for example Dr. Koch from Vibravoid who also made the cover design! This very cool sounding album was recorded
2020-2021 in Finland, Germany, UK and USA. The high quality 140g LP's were pressed at the new plant Helsingin Levypuristamo, the first one in Finland for almost 30 years. The 10 'Hello Ghost' songs are all about freedom. Will Z. decided to record the album away from his familiar environment: "I wanted to get out of my habits and go on an adventure because that's what 'Hello Ghost' was about." In February 2018, Pierre Vancraenenbroeck and Will went to Berlin, to Lightning Recorders, a studio where time stopped in the '60s. "We recorded all the basic tracks on museum pieces, from drums to amp, console to tape recorder. This sound and our discovery of the town build our music and created a very special atmosphere, out of time." said Will Z. Back in Liège, Will Z. invited other musicians to Studio 5 to appear on his album: Éric Trillet, keyboardist who played on the original songs in the '90s, Fake Empire (a band composed of three sisters and a friend) and a string section led by violinist Anne-Claude Dejasse. The band teamed with filmmaker Caroline Poisson for videos of 'Hello Ghost'.

A newly remastered edition of this Canadian folk/psych classic - perfect dreamy, sunshine-infused pop psychedelia with a folk bent, originally released by independent Canadian label Allied Records in 1968. When Lion Productions first issued this terrific album many years ago, the booklet featured the few scraps of information on the band they could find. They challenged "anyone out there" to find some information on this elusive and intriguing band. Well, they're pleased that someone took them up on that offer, and that the specific someone was band leader Tom Waschkowski (credited on the album as Tom Martin). He graciously offered a band history, lyrics, and some terrific photos. This allows Lion and RTA to offer up as perfect a reissue of this album as humanly possible. The Folklords' 'Release The Sunshine' is a captivating album, a notion shared by the many collectors world-wide who fight for original copies, which are few and far between. Strange thing is, if someone were to say that the Folklords album was released by Creation Records in 1987, it would be difficult to argue. You may well ask, why? The answer: the chiming guitars, the rattle of tambourine, the dreaminess, and the meandering harmony vocals of Martha Johnson place the Folklords closer to Biff Bang Pow, the Jesus and Mary Chain, the Revolving Paint Dream, or even My Bloody Valentine's debut, 'Ecstasy And Wine' (granted, at a much slower speed, and without the rampant fuzz guitar) than it does to sunny 1960's poppiness. Glorious remastered sound, as the twelve LP tracks were taken directly from the master-tapes.

Toronto 1970, three young guys, heavily influenced by Blue Cheer and Hendrix, get together to form a band. Featuring Charles Gadsby on guitar and vocals, Rick Skol on drums and vocals and Drew Tjernstrom on bass, the nascent outfit call themselves Gadsby & Skol. After much rehearsing they start to play local shows, but soon decide they need to do some more work on their sounds. In the end, the project stalls and they go their separate ways. Then in 1995 Charles Gadsby finds an old rehearsal tape and contacts the other two guys to suggest that they get back together to record the album they could have made back in 1970, if they'd ever got a recording deal. A little while later the recordings you have here are completed, and an album's worth of material is ready and waiting. The album eventually makes its one and only brief appearance on CD in 2001. Now here it is on vinyl for the very first time heavy and raw, just how it was meant to be. So if you like Thunder & Roses, Blue Cheer, Third Power and hard rocking psych guitar bands, you're going to love this! That's as close to a promise as we can make.

unfortunately loses all the music and rhyme of the Finnish title but the meanings still there, kind of. The title is aiming to describe the movements of a butterfly and the weight/heat of the idea that every single flap of the wing can cause a storm/revolution." He has described the group's sound as sometimes "like an orchestra flying around in a tornado." These themes embody 'Siipi Empii', a wildly weird dose of electronic folk music crafted through sheer force of nature, an abstract organism guided gently by Anderzéns deft artistic touch. In many ways 'Kumoyo Island' represents the culmination of a journey for Kikagaku Moyo. While their decade-long career can be summarized as a series of kaleidoscopic explorations through lands and dimensions far and near, there's a strong intention in each of their works to take the listener to a particular place, however real or abstract they may be. In that sense, the title and cover art for the band's fifth and final album draws you into a magical mass of land surrounded by water... but the couch suggests that 'Kumoyo Island'may not be a fleeting stop, but rather a place of respite, where one could pause and take it all in. Reconvening at Tsubame Studios in Asakusabashi, Tokyo, where their earliest material had been recorded, the five members of Kikagaku Moyo found new inspiration in a familiar and comfortable environment. With their adopted homebase of Amsterdam under lockdown and their touring activities halted due to the pandemic, the band felt a renewed sense of freedom being back in Shitamachi, or the old downtown area of their hometown. With unrestricted time in the studio, they began to build upon the demos and song fragments they'd amassed since their last tour. In the 1.5 months spent in Tokyo, everything started to come together. 'Monaka,' its name taken from a type of Japanese wafer sweets, takes melodic inspiration from traditional minyofolk styles, while 'Yayoi Iyayoi' is a rare instance of the band singing in their native tongue, its evocative lyrics utilizing archaic words taken from old poetry and nature books found in one of the many second-hand bookstores of Tokyo. For 'Meu Mar,' an Erasmos Carlos cover, the original Portuguese lyrics were translated into English, then to Japanese. Strangely enough, the words seem to conjure an image of the protagonist floating among the clouds, looking down upon Tokyo Bay. In fact, it may be possible to draw a parallel between the topography of the band's home country... an island nation, surrounded by bodies of water... and the mysterious isle of Kumoyo. Are they one and the same? Has the band finally made it back home? It's up to the listener to decide..

The band sought out Pernadas both out of admiration for his music and in an intentional move to work with a producer who came from a wildly different background. With 'Masana Temples', the band wanted to challenge their own concepts of what psychedelic music could be. Elements of both the attentive folk and wild-eyed rocking sides of the band are still intact throughout, but they're sharper and more defined. More than the literal interpretation of being on a journey, the album's always changing sonic panorama reflects the spiritual connection of the band moving through this all together. Life for a traveling band is a series of constant metamorphoses, with languages, cultures, climates and vibes changing with each new town. The only constant for Kikagaku Moyo throughout their travels were the five band members always together moving through it all, but each of them taking everything in from very different perspectives. Inspecting the harmonies and disparities between these perspectives, the group reflects the emotional impact of their nomadic paths. The music is the product of time spent in motion and all of the bending mindsets that come with it..

'Les Idoles' is a mythical record of sixties psyche rock prefiguring punk. A work which in style had no equivalent in France at the time. Thanks to the performance of the Rollsticks, a rock band created from scratch with musicians from different musical worlds, to accompany the erratic vocalizations of actors Pierre Clémenti, Bulle Ogier and Jean Pierre Kalfon. The band consists of Patrick Greussay (who became part of Calcium) on the drums and guitars, Stephane Vilar (who became part of Calcium, PLVG), Didier Léon (future accomplice of Barney Wilen), Didier Malherbe (who became part of Gong and Clearlight amongst other bands), Jacques Zins (who became part of Calcium) and with the participation of Yvan Julien (jazzman composer trumpeter and conductor) and Michel Portal (jazzman composer and saxophonist). The recording of this album is different from the album 'Les Idoles' published in 1967 under the reference CBS 62812, recorded in June 1966 in Barclay studios. The record company needed to make the record when the film was released to have the music recorded six months in advance, as it was practiced at the time. The unreleased recording offered today was made during the shooting of the film, in 1967 at the Davout Studio to use in the film.
During these sessions, the musicians really knew the repertoire inside out and the music is more intense, more powerful, which makes it very interesting. Made from master tapes found in the archives, this new album with the exception of 'Et Floc C'est La Tasse' and 'Chanson De L'Archevêque,' dispensable titles whose tapes have been definitively lost, includes practically the same titles as the 1967 album, but in different interpretations to which unreleased instrumentals have been added.

The invasion of Ukraine has been a waking nightmare for the whole country leading to ordinary citizens taking up arms to defend their homeland in the war they never thought they would be fighting. In fact, Yurko, the band's guitarist, volunteered to help in his country's defence effort and has been on the frontline in the East of Ukraine pretty much since war broke out. It is a position he really shouldn't be in and one that most of us couldn't even imagine. As for the record itself, it is live album recorded back in the summer of 2021 featuring music from their two vinyl albums released previously on DRR ('Hormonizer' released in 2019 and 'The Second Coming' from 2020) plus a new track. The band describe the record and the time in which the tracks were played and recorded as: -"Summer '21 was full of joy and good vibes which we have recorded and captured forever on this live album. This record is a reminder of a happier, peaceful time that will we hopefully return back to soon. A massive thank you to all the brave soldiers and citizens of our homeland, Ukraine. "In the Autumn of 2018 I was driving to work and had the CD of 'The Sound Of Young America' by The Voices playing on the car stereo. Capturing elements of Spacemen 3 and MBV while creating their own distinctive sound, I've loved this album ever since it was released back in 2007. I suddenly realised that this amazing album had never been made available on vinyl. And then I remembered that I ran my own record label. Not sure why it took me so long to put 2 and 2 together but I contacted the band immediately and the wheels were quickly put into motion. As it happens, the band were in the process of putting out a new album via their Bandcamp page and also remastering their earlier work so the timing could not have been better. The artwork and audio have been given a bit of a make over and a definitive version of this great and often over-looked album has now been given the Drone Rock Records treatment. During their four year life span they released the lauded 2007 album 'The Sound Of Young America' via My Kung Fu, including the title track, a blistering wall of sound with washed out vocals.

Continuing this super productive year for the Feral Child label, the label releases an absolute peach here. Four totally whacked out, deep cuts that defy any hopes of genre pigeonholing; a deliciously dazzling moulding of ambitious grooves and ideas from the wonderful Wet Tuna. Never short on dizzying ambition, Feral Child described it as a 'Space Dub Psych Disco collision' on an Instagram post and that kinda holds true a few days on here. Fabulously bonkers and groovy in equal measure, this one comes hugely recommended. Wet Tuna feature Matt (MV) Valentine & Erika (EE) Elder alongside Jim Bliss, Woods' Jeremy Earl and on this record, Myriam Gendron.

Second press. Blind Owl Wilson was a truly great guitarist and vocalist whose deep well of psychedelic blues songs were buried amongst the catalog of major label rockin' blues band Canned Heat. Blind Owl served as Canned Heat's guitarist and would chip in a song here and there as a front man. A couple of those songs became huge hits in the '60s - 'Going Up The Country' and 'On The Road Again'. Blind Owl's songs for Canned Heat stood in stark contrast to the bands blustery blues rock - his was a gentle and nuanced voice and the themes of his song were all about personal heartbreak, grasping for cosmic understanding, and ecological justice. Last copy! In 1991 Andy Warhoofd was in the middle of his addiction to ancient Dutch languaged beat and rock n roll records and wanted to make an attempt to create something similar himself. As he knew the Breda King of Ping-Pong-recording Bob Geldwolf it was just a tiny step to move into more serious grounds. In 1991 for half a year every Wednesday Andy Warhoofd went to Bob's apartment to record and drink beer (Grolsch beugels) while Bob used all kindsa chemical substances to broaden his mind and vision and to make the recordings even more outstanding than they would have become just drinking flat water. They both played all instruments and Andy did all the vocals. All in all 16 songs were recorded. As the guys were friends with the Sufgerukte Wallies and Belgian comedian Herr Seele they were asked to do some gigs. De Kikker in Utrecht, the Democrazy in Gent, Para in Breda and the Noorderlicht in Tilburg were the venues that saw these now classical performances. Sadly much too fast the two personalities arrived at a point there was only a turning back and they both went their way. Bob sadly took Vitamin B instead of XTC in 1999 and died. Around the same period Andy Warhoofd disappeared while walking through the Mastwood in a parallel universum, never to be seen again. Luckily their recordings survive and Grey Past Records are proud to hereby announce the official first ever and last ever release of the debut album of the Comcommers. Only 250 numbered copies as it is music for the happy few that want to cross all borders of good taste end real rudimentary musicianship! Music ranges from straight Floydian Barret psych ('Mijn Leven Is Niet Van Jou') to strange postpunk ('Ontevreden') to all kindsa odd tunes going as far out as you can get with Dutch languaged rock. If you loved the 'Biet-Het' series you sure should try this. When you listen think of what might have become of this great band if ever...

The Bowlers were from Paris, formed in 1964 by a group of teenages. They got inspired by notably English groups played on French radio, especially the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. After performing in Paris, they eventually became a support act for with the Yardbirds, the Moody Blues, Ronnie Bird, Antoine and the Problems, among others. They recorded 2 EPs in 1966 for the Barclay label, mixed by an engineer who was not at all in phase with the group. A third EP, which would have a contribution by a brass section, was also planned, but it was never released. That EP, with tracks unreleased for more than five decades, appears on this compilation LP.

Miranda and The Beat are a rock and roll band, with all that the term might entail. Drawing from the traditional rock music, as performed by the likes of The Dirt Bombs, The B-52's, MC5, and Ronnie Spector, Miranda and The Beat operate from a clear eyed appreciation of the greats and a healthy, barn-burning disregard for tropes or traditionalist limitations. Garage, soul, punk, classic rock... pick your poison; the band has plenty to spare. Arriving in New York City in 2018, the band have, through songwriting and performance, proved themselves to be both an essential spark and spearhead to a scene of new blood rockers bringing a much needed renewal of energy to the New York City (garage, rock, whatever) scene. Originally a duo of 21 year old guitarist/vocalist Miranda Zipse and 21 year old drummer Kim "The Beat" Sollecito, the pair quickly added a full band of Kate Gutwald on bass and Dylan Fernadez on organ and soon became known for their tireless, wheel-on-fire live sets driven by Miranda's captivating stage presence, vocal prowess, and her pyrotechnic (but never indulgent!), melodically slashing guitar work. Their live reputation (and a reputation for being neither pushovers nor scumbags) led to collaborations with such childhood idols as The Mystery Lights and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Soon there was the release of their 7" single 'Such A Fool,' on Jack White's Third Man Records and an extensive North American tour supporting The King Khan and BBQ show. One pandemic later, between days/nights spent sweating out piss, vinegar, and trackloads of tears in the studio, and a rigorous, borderline ridiculous, rehearsal schedule, Miranda and The Beat are, at this juncture, practically monstrous in both sound and vision, and ready to meet the world.

1991 Exactly when MAINSTREAM TEKNO took over the whole world and on the other hand GRUNGE and HEROIN GROOVE oriented PUNK ROCK Kicked in THE MONSTERS released thier 2nd Studio Album the Hunch (a tribute title for HASIL ADKINS), everybody told them to make good recordings no TRASH CRAP so they thought
to do a proper production and went to a proper good recording studio to have a fat sound (for the 1st and last time)...
Anyway, the studio was way too expensive for poor TEENAGE PUNK ROCKERS The Monsters so they only could afford recording one side of the record professionally. The 2nd side they recorded LIVE with Sam from THE RADIOATIONS and Jimi Ochsenbein at a gig they did in 1991 at the ISC CLUB in Bern, their hometown. That record was a commercial success for the band andput them on the map of the music world. The album got licensed and some songs released on other labels as well.. for example the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" got released by DIONYSUS RECORDS in LOS ANGELES and they called their Style of music GRUNGEABILLY. 1990 -- 1991 there was a change of drummers Pepe left the band (he plays on the 1st side) and Di Putto (tibu) who plays on the 2nd side.

The cover artwork was a special screen print, hand cutted and folded, but back then the album was definitely 10 YEARS TOO EARLY, TOO MUCH BLUES and way TOO MUCH PUNK and PSYCHEDELIC..It is so RAW and TRASHY that people sent it back to me, complaining about the sound qualitee and their WEIRDNESS..... hahaha... over the years this album turned into a CULT OBJECT and COLLECTORS item. Nerds, music fans all over the world didnt stop asking about it, it was a curiosity... until today !!!

It's worth mentioning that the THREE guitarist BROTHERS grew up in a TINY SWISS MOUNTAIN VILLAGE. When they moved to a larger town with a 'rock club' where they first saw SPACEMEN 3 and some other sonic pioneers of the time, they got immersed in the energy of garage punk, primal ROCK AND ROLL, and later on, THE DEPTH OF BLUES. After releasing several singles, compilations and EPs, their first full-length album, FORGOTTEN MILLIONSELLERS, came out in 1998 as one of the first releases on VOODOO RHYTHM RECORDS The second album, BECAUSE OF WOMAN, followed in 2006, and definitely catapulted them countrywide into the status of a influential band and showed that their cult continues growing with every record they put out.

As well a respected and nominated flash animator story teller, Ugly Mean Chickie, Deadrat or Hotduck, just to mention a few of Hoving's popular cartoon characters, have been seen by more than 100.000 peole worldwide. A more than just creative pair which transformed themselves on "Too drunk to truck" from a 2 piece raw straight trucker outfit into a White Trash Country Orchestra with many musician friends, such as Mama Rosin, Urban Dance Squad, the Bluesgrass Boogiemen and the Anomalys. The 14 songs were recorded in a farmhouse in middle of nowhere in Groningen and of course mixed in the amazing Outside Inside Studios in Venice, Italy. At the ass end of the planet lies the ancient and secretive Pacific Islands known collectively by Whiteys as NEW ZEALAND. All the way down here the cassette and film production company STINC MAGNETIC started in 1998 by a young Maori called Dylan Thomas Herkes, better known as THE MYSTERIOUS TAPE MAN.
Tape Man began DOCUMENTING AND RECORDING LOCAL BANDS from the Wairarapa, Tararua and Manawatu areas on hand-made cassette tapes, recorded one by one in real time and released them on 7 different tapes in editions of 30 copies each. BRYARS, GAVIN - THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC
Gavin Bryars was born in Yorkshire, England in 1943. His first musical forays were as a jazz bassist working in the early 1960s with improvisors Derek Bailey and Tony Oxley. Bryars later worked with composers John Cage and Cornelius Cardew, founded the Portsmouth Sinfonia and collaborated with Brian Eno on his famed Obscure imprint. 'The Sinking Of The Titanic,' Bryars' first major composition, was inspired by the tragic event of the British passenger liner's cross-Atlantic maiden voyage. Bryars eloquently reconstructs the passengers' experience - at once forlorn and eerily calming - through assemblages of understated strings and indeterminate elements. A core principle of the piece is that the ship's band continued to play as the vessel went down. One of the most sublime works in the modern classical canon, 'Titanic' remains Bryars' magnum opus. 'Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet,' the album's second sidelong track, is based on a tape loop of a London street singer captured in the early 1970s. Featuring Derek Bailey, Michael Nyman and John White, Bryars' composition gradually builds around the cripplingly poignant voice until its emotional force is almost too much to bare. It's no surprise that 'Jesus' Blood' is known as Tom Waits' all-time favorite piece of music. Produced by Brian Eno in 1975 as the inaugural release on Obscure, 'The Sinking Of The Titanic' draws the listener in to a majestic world. While these exquisite, hymn-like recordings have not changed in nearly 50 years, their deeply personal nature and the audience's attention to their subtlety have only strengthened over time. First-time vinyl reissue.

In reality, Deux Filles was Simon Fisher Turner and Colin Lloyd Tucker, a UK duo who first worked together in an early incarnation of The The. Straddling the line between experimental and pop, Turner was an actor and teen singing star who later composed soundtracks for the iconic queer filmmaker Derek Jarman while Tucker's career began as an engineer for the famed UK library music studio De Wolfe, before forming experimental wave group The Gadgets. In Deux Filles, the duo found an outlet for their least commercial tendencies, combining lo-fi proto-dream-pop instrumentals with samples, tape experiments, ambient textures, and drum machines. Even in the vibrant, seemingly endless well of UK DIY, Deux Filles stand out. 'Double Happiness' is the duo's second album, originally released in 1983 on their own imprint Papier Maché. Since the mid-1960s, Jon Gibson has played a key role in the development of American avant-garde music. As a versatile reed player, he has performed with everyone from Steve Reich and Philip Glass to Terry Riley and La Monte Young. In the 1970s, Gibson would emerge as a minimalist composer in his own right and release two exceptional albums, 'Visitations' and 'Two Solo Pieces', on Glass' Chatham Square imprint. 'Songs & Melodies' brings together recordings from 1973 to 1977 (mostly previously unreleased), featuring prominent figures in New York's scene including Arthur Russell, Barbara Benary and Julius Eastman. This double LP collection showcases the breadth of Gibson's expressive range_from introspective piano meditations to cerebral ensemble works_and the subtlety of his radical compositional techniques. The front cover artwork, a hand-drawn diagram by Gibson, originally appeared in the program for a March 1974 concert at Washington Square Church in Greenwich Village. While this concert was not the first to feature the composer exclusively, it would be a pivotal event in Gibson's early career as a composer. Superior Viaduct is honored to present this long overdue archival release that not only documents Gibson's important work, but also a crucial period in NYC musical history.

Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) formed in the mid-1970s as a loose-knit experimental music collective and multimedia publishing vehicle. Founded by teenage Le Forte Four members Chip Chapman, Joe Potts and Rick Potts and soon joined by Tom Recchion of Doo-Dooettes, LAFMS incorporated free improvisation, modular synthesizers, tape music, sampling, musique concrète, homemade instruments, noise, mail art and avant-rock in permissive and anarchic sessions at the Raymond Building and Poo-Bah Record Shop in old Pasadena. Inspired by The Residents, LAFMS self-released records and periodicals, organized performances and connected with fellow outsiders via post in the years before punk. Their uninhibited, egalitarian ideal of music-making and DIY distribution would influence generations of underground artists. 'Live At The Brand' documents the second performance of newly formed LAFMS core groups Le Forte Four and Doo-Dooettes on July 8, 1976 at the recital hall of the Brand Library in Glendale. Le Forte Four (now joined by Tom Potts) did not actually perform live, but rather created 44 pyramid-shaped headphone helmets with internal quadraphonic speakers and countless wires in order to share their latest tape assemblages with showgoers deprived of sight. The recordings delivered in this Fluxus-inspired manner feature the Buchla synthesizer at nearby CalArts, radio interpolations, group improvisations, addled outbursts and splices from source material lost to time. Doo-Dooettes - Tom Recchion, Harold Schroeder, Juan Gomez, Dennis Duck and Fredrik Nilsen - performed a series of alternately droning and chaotic duets with guitar, percussion, piano, tape loops and synthesizer, all improvised around loosely structured compositions and culminating in a spontaneous group composition at the end of the program. Originally released in 1976, the double LP would be LAFMS' third release. This first-time vinyl reissue is limited to 500 numbered copies. Comes with inserts.

There's even the odd suggestion of a pop tune here and there, maybe even some danceable beats; if you've got one leg shorter than the other.

SMEGMA - GLAMOUR GIRLS 1941
Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) formed in the mid-1970s as a loose-knit experimental music collective and multimedia publishing vehicle. Founded by teenage Le Forte Four members Chip Chapman, Joe Potts and Rick Potts and soon joined by Tom Recchion of Doo-Dooettes, LAFMS incorporated free improvisation, modular synthesizers, tape music, sampling, musique concrète, homemade instruments, noise, mail art and avant-rock in permissive and anarchic sessions at the Raymond Building and Poo-Bah Record Shop in old Pasadena. Inspired by The Residents, LAFMS self-released records and periodicals, organized performances and connected with fellow outsiders via post in the years before punk. Their uninhibited, egalitarian ideal of music-making and DIY distribution would influence generations of underground artists. Poo-Bah Records, with its import bins and backroom jam space, attracted the pseudonymous artists forming the initial incarnation of long-running collective Smegma. Early members Ju Suk Reet Meate, Dennis Duck, Cheez-it Ritz, Big Dirty, Amazon Bambi and Dr. Id contributed to various LAFMS compilations and combinations before several core members relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1975, where they recorded their debut album 'Glamour Girl 1941.' Originally released on the LAFMS label in 1979, the LP combines rock instrumentation with tape, synthesizer, horns and voice in a tempestuous cauldron of anti-academy improv and alien noise. Beyond its roots in LAFMS, Smegma would help shape the early Portland punk scene in the late '70s alongside Wipers and Neo Boys. In more recent years, they have collaborated with Merzbow and Wolf Eyes. This first-time vinyl reissue is limited to 500 numbered copies. Comes with insert.

This album features pieces by (in alphabetical order): Eric Andersen, John Cage, Henning Christiansen, Bengt af Klintberg, Milan Knízák, Opening Performance Orchestra, Terry Riley, Mieko Shiomi, Yoshi Wada and La Monte Young. The musicians and performers Anna Clementi, Agnese Toniutti, Deborah Walker, Werner Durand, Luciano Chessa, Miroslav Beinhauer, Petr Bakla, Nicolas Horvath, Petr Ferenc and Premysl Ondra have played, performed and declaimed the Fluxus pieces, Arditti Quartet and S.E.M. Ensemble provided one piece from their archives. Milan Knízák, Petr Rezek, Petr Kotík, Olaf Hanel, Eric Andersen, Per Brunskog, Peter van der Meijden, Pavlína Morganová, Natasha Lushetich, Joseph Nechvatal, Natilee Harren, Martin Patrick, Diedrich Diederichsen, Christopher M. Reeves and Hubertus von Amelunxen have written Fluxus-themed texts. Archivio Conz in Berlin provided access to their extensive Fluxus archives and Edizioni Conz provided co-production. Ursula and René Block made possible the realisation of John Cage's historical composition 'Rozart Mix' from the Edition Block archive. The photographic material comes from Marie Knízáková and Milan Knízák's private archive, the German photographer Wolfgang Träger, Archivio Conz's Fluxus archive and Opening Performance Orchestra's digital archive. The cover themes are paintings by Milan Knízák, while the graphic design is the work of Jaroslav Buzek. The whole release is produced by re-set production. The LP edition contains 18 pieces, new and old, live and studio, finished pieces and scores to be performed, acoustic and classical, solos and pieces for ensemble, using classical and special instruments.

In 1976, Joe Potts solicited recordings from LAFMS affiliates and admirers to edit and compile 'I.D. Art #2,' utilizing correspondence art's technique of "assemblings." (The first installment in this series was a magazine, and the third was a coloring book.) Potts received dozens of pieces by members of Le Forte Four, Doo-Dooettes, Smegma and Ace & Duce as well as painters, filmmakers and non-artists with few recording credits to their name, creating a delirious, winking sound-art collage of field recordings, voicemails and improvisations. Participants purchased time on the record and received one copy each of the finished LP, realizing the philosophy contained in LAFMS' motto: "The music is free, but you have to pay for the plastic, paper, ink, glue and stamps." 'Sound: An Exhibition Of Sound Sculpture, Instrument Building And Acoustically Tuned Spaces' opened at the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art in the summer of 1979 (and was also on view later that year at PS1 in New York). Curated by Bob Wilhite and Robert Smith, the exhibition surveyed the field of sound art. The forty-four participants were painters pivoted toward performance, conceptual artists attracted to time-based mediums, self-styled creators of environments, and musicians (formally trained and otherwise) fashioning new instruments from household items and consumer electronics. They were more or less object-oriented and, at the same time, more or less music-oriented. What brought them all together, as the exhibition catalog gamely asserted, was sculpting in three-dimensional space. The 'Sound' exhibit included installations, recordings played in the exhibition space and a series of live performances, demonstrating instruments that otherwise rested inert in the gallery. For a broader sense of the show than a single visit provided, the curators also produced a compilation album featuring short pieces, or excerpts from longer works, by many of the participants. (Artists in the exhibition, but not on the LP included Alvin Lucier and Mike Kelley.) Selections from bright lights of the 20th century avant-garde - such as composers Bill Fontana, Yoshi Wada and Paul DeMarinis; conceptual artists and performance artists Terry Fox, Tom Marioni and Jim Pomeroy; experimental vocalist Joan La Barbara; and Los Angeles Free Music Society members Tom Recchion and John Duncan - feature alongside the sounds of Jim Hobart's tuned jars, Ivor Darreg's fretless banjo, Doug Hollis' aeolian harp and Richard Dunlap's rubber bands. ...23 VIII 64 2:50:45-3:11 AM THE VOLGA DELTA' - Reissue of first album by composer La Monte Young, originally released in 1969 on Edition X. La Monte Young was born in Bern, Idaho in 1935. He began his music studies in Los Angeles and later Berkeley, California before relocating to New York City in 1960, where he became a primary influence on Minimalism, the Fluxus movement and performance art through his legendary compositions of extended time durations and the development of just intonation and rational number based tuning systems. With wife and collaborator, artist Marian Zazeela, they would formulate the composite sound environments of the Dream House, which continues to this day. Seeing reissue for the first time since its initial 1969 release, Young and Zazeela's first full-length album is often referred to as 'The Black Record' due to Zazeela's stunning cover design, complete with the composer's liner notes in elegant hand-lettered script. Side one was recorded in 1969 (on the date and time indicated by the title) at the gallery of Heiner Friedrich in Munich, where Young and Zazeela premiered their Dream House sound and light installation. Featuring Young and Zazeela's voices against a sine wave drone, the recording is a section of the longer composition 'Map Of 49's Dream The Two Systems Of Eleven Sets of Galactic Intervals Ornamental Lightyears Tracery' (begun in 1966 as a sub-section of the even larger work 'The Tortoise, His Dreams And Journeys,' which was begun in 1964 with Young's group The Theatre of Eternal Music). According to Young, the raga-like melodic phrases of his voice were heavily influenced by his future teacher, the Hindustani singer Pandit Pran Nath.
Side two, recorded in Young and Zazeela's NYC studio in 1964, is a section of the longer composition 'Studies In The Bowed Disc.' This composition is an extended, highly abstract noise piece for bowed gong (gifted by sculptor Robert Morris). The liner notes explain that the live performance can be heard at 33 and 1/3 RPM, but may also be played at any slower speed down to 8 and 1/3 RPM for turntables with this capacity.
