AMERICAN DREAM - 1969 RUNDGREN DEMOS
Local Philly legends the American Dream was a late '60s band (featuring musician/actor Nick Jameson, later of Foghat!) who were regulars at clubs like the Electric Circus and offered a cool mix of psych, hard-rock and proto-power pop. They were signed to Ampex/Bearsville Records, releasing their only album in 1970, produced by Todd Rundgren (his first production work).
Now, for the first time on vinyl and straight from the original masters, we present their previously unreleased studio demos from 1969 - also produced by Todd Rundgren - that landed the band their deal with Ampex. Music is great psych-rock with superb vocal harmonies and hard guitars. Also included are two rare tracks from their unfinished 1970 second LP plus the killer garage-jangle classic 'Big Brother,' originally recorded by pre-American Dream band The Finestuff in 1967, as a bonus.
Comes in hard cardboard sleeve with insert with liner notes and photos/memorabilia and download card. RIYL: The Nazz, Who, Badfinger, Moby Grape, Byrds, Big Star, Beatles, CSNY...

ATTACK - STRANGE HOUSE (BLACK)
Formed in 1966 around lead singer Richard Shirman, The Attack were the ultimate freakbeat/psychedelic band. Guerssen presents a new, definitive edition of their famous 'Final Daze' recordings, focusing on strictly 1967-1968 stuff with John Du Cann as main songwriter (plus a never-before-on-vinyl track from '69, taken from a rare acetate), unlike previous editions that included early and post-Attack unrelated recordings. The result is a killer UK PSYCH sounding album featuring the impressive guitar of John Du Cann (Andromeda, Atomic Rooster...) and it's the closer we can get to what the long rumoured to exist unreleased 'Roman God Of War' LP could have sounded like. Including the classic mod-psych anthem 'Magic In The Air' (dropped by their record label Decca for "being too heavy"), their unreleased monster hard-psych 45 'Feel Like Flying'/'Freedom For You,' the killer title track, the pre-Andromeda demos of 'Too Old' and 'Go Your Way' and more!
Includes insert with liner notes by Jon 'Mojo' Mills (Shindig!) and rare photos. "Inhabiting a region of the sonic solar system somewhere between the Creation and the Small Faces, the Attack languished in comparative obscurity back in their day, only to be recognized decades later as one of the most exciting bands of the era." - Mike Stax (Ugly Things).

BLUE, DAVID - DAVID BLUE
Singer-songwriter and actor David Blue tends to be remembered only in relation to Bob Dylan. He was something of an archetype of the '60s generation of Greenwich Village singer-songwriters. Yet, esteemed by his peers, he was overlooked. He released seven albums in a decade, and his acting career was shaping up when he died suddenly at the age of 41. Here comes the first ever vinyl reissue of his 1966 folk-rock album. Includes a four-page color insert with notes by author and musician Mark Brend. Limited edition of 500 copies.

CHILD OF PANOPTES - CHILD OF PANOPTES
After their debut single 'Walk With Me', Child Of Panoptes present their debut full-length album. The band embraces British freakbeat, popsike and American garage-psych-rock. The album includes other-worldly coverversions of songs by THE Vipps, Apple, The Clouds, The Fairytales and Elias Rahbani alongside the musicians' own compositions. Subtle jazzy elements combined with a groovy hammond organ, dreamy reverbing vocals and a cool beat create a dreamlike, slightly sinister, yet catchy psychedelic '60s mood.

ELECTRIC MOON - INFERNO (2LP)
11 years after its original release, the ever cult album 'Inferno' by Electric Moon gets a make-over in sound and artwork. 'Inferno' is Electric Moon's most popular album with its 50 minutes title track and it's 15 minutes prologue 'Mental Record.' It's a one and first take intergalactic jam with a very mindblowing attitude to it. Dark, heavy and monumental, but then again delightful, with its interesting interchanging of major and minor chords... Manufactured in Germany with 100% quality controlled random colored re-vinyl. The sound is comparable to normal colored vinyl. Re-vinyl from Optimal Media is no normal recycled wax, it's made by themselves and has guaranteed nothing else in it than vinyl, and is actually more expensive than regular vinyl. It's for the environment... Random colored wax - every single record will be one of a kind!

GIOBIA - ACID DISORDER (BLACK)
'Acid Disorder' is the astonishing 2023 work of the neo-psychedelia acid-rock riffers Giöbia. The Italian quartet focusses its inspirations in 8 wonderful tracks as varied as homogeneous and fluid sounding, which result in a full-length album pleasantly rich in atmospheres and textures. The eclecticism of the songs and their exotic flavor are rendered by the use of certain ethnic instruments - we can clearly recognize sitar and saz binding in an intriguing dance with vintage organs and synthesizers. Such a fascinating mixture gives the band its own hallmark that makes it unique and recognizable among thousands. 'Acid Disorder' easily engages even the most demanding listener. We can hear certain kraut rock influences a la Amon Düül and Ash Ra Tempel which lead us to float in the cosmos towards new unexplored dimensions and reconfirm the purely space-rock taste of the band and its inclination to sci-fi soundtracks charm and mystery. With this surprising album Giöbia invite us to enter their realm, that hidden place in the depths of their mind where anything can happen. Once again we abandon ourselves to altered states of consciousness, enchanted by the lysergic side of a music that is both familiar and new.

MASTER DANSE - FEELIN DEAD
You heard them first on 'Brown Acid: The Thirteenth Trip.'
Master Danse was formed in late 1973 in Detroit, Michigan when drummer Tom Riss and bassist Cary Fletcher, formerly of the Detroit band Licking Stick, went looking for a new guitarist/lead vocalist and jammed with John Giaier, who had most recently played in the band Crawdad. The three musicians hit it off immediately, and a new power hard rock trio was born. In 1973, Detroit was clearly "Rock City", featuring such local icons as Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, Grand Funk Railroad, Ted Nugent, and Mitch Ryder, and the high energy punch of Master Danse reflected this proud heritage. Unfortunately, this union would only last one year, and by the end of 1974 the power rock trio known as Master Danse had disbanded. What was left for posterity were only two live reel to reel recordings and one promo 45 single. Some forty-seven years later, the 45 found its way onto the internet and a small cult following of audiophiles was born, people who appreciate the raw power and high energy of early '70s rock. Bands like Master Danse and others from this era were riding the wave of transition from the pop rock sound of the '60s to an edgier sound that would eventually lead to metal and punk music. With the help of modern-day tape restoration techniques, the two live recordings were restored, and together with the 45, the best versions of the eight songs that have survived the decades are featured on this album. Although recorded live forty-eight years ago on a two-track stereo tape recorder, you can still feel the power of Giaier's Marshall stack, Fletcher's twin Acoustic 360 amps, and the relentless attack of Riss' Ludwig drums. So, sit back and enjoy. Rock on! Limited to 500 copies on coloured vinyl.

RIDING EASY |
MAXIMILLIAN - MAXIMILLIAN
RidingEasy Records has teamed up with Permanent Records in Los Angeles to bring this very special heavy psych rocker back into the fold. New York City based African-American and Latino hard rock/psych trio Maximillian released their sole self-titled album on ABC Records in 1969, then promptly vanished. It has remained a collectors' conversation piece ever since. Maximillian combined elements of beat poetry, a little bit of The Fugs, a hit of Funkadelic, a lick of Cream and a vibe of Hendrix worship with an ambition that seems to have jumbled these influences. The Maximillian album is a rare artifact of late-'60s psychedelic rock whose appeal is not the skill of their musicianship, but the downright strangeness of it. While at times it sounds like the trio is playing entirely different songs at the same time, it's said that producer Teddy Vann had a hand in the album's sometimes confusing production. The group credited on the album consists of singer Buzzy Bowzer (aka Maximillian), lead guitarist Mojack Maximillian, and bassist Moby Medina (aka Moby Maximillian) with drummer Jerry Nolan later of the New York Dolls oddly uncredited on the LP. However, according to Nolan's official biography, the band was actually co-founded by Buzzy and Nolan in 1968. The drummer was reported to have feuded with Vann, who disliked his Mitch Mitchell influenced style, and was subsequently mixed very quietly and not credited on the album. The album's eye-catching artwork features the sharp dressed band crucified on flower-covered crosses, with a cryptic and self-aggrandizing manifesto describing them as "new prophets of love and truth." Be that as it may, their prophecy was short-lived, though it may have foretold the chaotic, rudimentary sounds to come in punk, and even, the grunge era. The album opens with what sounds like an alternate reality version of Procol Harum's 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale' here re-tripping the light fandango under the guise of 'Naked Ape.' A short 4-second sputtering of a violin tuning starts and abruptly ends as funereal fuzz bass and drums set up the melody and shimmering organ, violin squall and Bowzer's howling voice wails of the failures of human evolution. 'Kickin' 9 To 5' starts like an early Hendrix groove before turning on a dime into a Bo Diddley-esque dirge, replete with the drums hard panned to the left channel and a persistent maraca on the right. Bowzer's diction on 'Scar On My Memory' predates Mark E. Smith of The Fall's signature added vowels at the end of most words, while the music sounds like a more acid damaged take on fellow NYC freak-folkers Exuma. Elsewhere, 'The Name Of The Game' echoes 'Manic Depression' with churning, rolling drums and a chiming guitar following Bowzer's growling blues until the song suddenly shifts into a lurching rave-up, then a blues rumble for a few bars before mutating back to the original riff. Album closer 'Moby's House' is by far the most unusual track, sounding like a pastiche of the album's songs cut and spliced together in random fashion, perhaps in homage to The Beatles' 'Revolution No. 9.' Throughout the album, random percussion and other instruments pop up as though the producer were assuring he could take credit for song arrangements. Comes on coloured vinyl.

METEOR VORTEX - IGNITION SECTOR
Finnish heavy psych/space rock three-piece returns with their second full-length album, featuring 45 minutes of spaced out instrumental heavy psych pummeling. Swirling, almost heavy-esque guitars, melodic and roaring basslines and drums racing on razor's edge. Bit like Hawkwind in the 80's mixed with more central European psych tradition, built on firm Earthless-like jam-foundations. Sometimes going in at full speed, sometimes taking time to catch some breath, and sometimes descending into freak out chaos, but always hard hitting. Limited to 200 copies on 180 gram 'beer' coloured vinyl, comes in a gatefold sleeve.

ORANG-UTAN - ORANG-UTAN
New catalogue number and barcode and now on the Guerssen label. Orang-Utan were in fact a London based band called Hunter, featuring vocalist Terry "Nobby" Clarke (of psych-pop legends Jason Crest), guitar player Mick Clarke, drummer and songwriter Jeff Seopardi and bass player Paul Roberts. They recorded their sole album in 1971 at DeLane Lea studios. In a bizarre twist of events, their producers/managers ran with the tapes to the US, where they placed the album on Bell Records under a new band name: Orang-Utan, without telling any of the band members. A lost classic of blazing, early hard rock with minor psychedelic hangover vibes, a twin-guitar attack, and waves of fuzz/wah, along with powerful vocals. Think Leaf Hound, Budgie, Bang, Sir Lord Baltimore, Hard Stuff... Legit reissue done in co-operation with the original band members. Includes insert with liner notes telling the bizarre story of the band for the first time, and rare photos and download card. "Quintessentially British hard-rock, transforming the blues in a way American bands rarely did, and with a kind of vocal intensity that compares to Free, Humble Pie et al" - Aaron Milenski (Galactic Ramble).

SYNANTHESIA - SYNANTHESIA (BLACK)
Prog-psych/acid-folk lost classic from 1969 by this short lived London trio. Now lovingly reissued on vinyl with fantastic remastered sound. Named after a Cannonball Adderley track, Synanthesia formed thanks to a Melody Maker ad placed in 1968 by guitarist/vibes/vocalist Dennis Homes, answered by Jim Fraser (who played sax, oboe and flute) and Leslie Cook (an Incredible String Band fan on bongos, violin and mandolin). With their particular blend of folk, jazz and psychedelia, the trio played all the key underground venues and clubs, sometimes alongside top acts like Floyd, King Crimson or Fairport Convention. Their sole album was recorded at Sounds Technique studio in Chelsea (which was where Pink Floyd were recording their albums at the time) and subsequently released by RCA. The cover featured the trio climbed onto a tree at the same park where the Beatles filmed their 'Strawberry Field' promo film. Despite the good reviews and the support of DJs like John Peel, the album was considered too far out and psychedelic and eventually flopped, only to be re-discovered several decades later by acid-folk fans and collectors. Original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve + obi. Includes insert with liner notes by Plastic Crimewave and rare photos/memorabilia. "A cool and unique album whose cover accurately promises strange fruits of the earth" - Aaron Milenski (Galactic Ramble). TELESCOPES - EXPERIMENTAL HEALTH
'Experimental Health' is the 14th album from The Telescopes and
their third release on Weisskalt. The Telescopes are an all-embracing concern which began in 1987 - the only constant, being sole composer and instigator, Northumbrian born, Stephen Lawrie. The band's line-up is in constant flux: there can be anywhere between 1 and 20 members on a recording. This album was created entirely independently by Lawrie in a remote cottage in West Yorkshire between January and May 2022.
'Experimental Health' is folk music made with broken toys and cheap synths - mostly Pocket Operators and miniature synths. Here are no guitars present on the album, most of the instrumentation costing £50 or less. The complexity of sound rests within the simplicity of the composition and musical arrangements. "Like Robert Wyatt on LSD" ~Gonzaï Magazine. "An album of lo-fi psyched-out swirls that lushly loop around,
distorted and rich, defying any humble origins. There is a healthy depth to its strangeness, with a motorik combination of synths, noise and percussion" ~NARC Magazine.

Now reissued with a hard cardboard sleeve and an obi, this is the sole full-length by a superb psychedelic/progressive underground unit from Florida. Full of spacey guitar riffs and innovative keyboards, the album was originally released in 1970.

MAIA, TIM - RACIONAL, VOL. 1
When in 1974 the Brazilian soul singer Tim Maia discovered a book called 'Universo Em Desencanto' no-one around him would have predicted what would happen next. At that time Maia was one of Brazil's biggest pop stars, and undoubtedly its biggest soul singer. Singles like 'Chocolate' and 'Nao Quero Dinheiro
(Só Quero Amar)' had propelled him to the top of the charts. With his group, who happened to be some of the funkiest musicians around, he'd just sealed a deal to make a double album for RCA Victor in Brazil, a sure sign of his lofty ambitions and the regard he was held in the music industry. Then that book came along. 'Universo Em Desencanto' is a book of spiritual awakening written by charismatic leader Manoel Jacintho Coelho. It's a quasi-religious text that uses pseudo-science and much bluster to seek to awaken its reader to another level of consciousness, telling them what they need to do to reach enlightenment, or to become rationally immunized,
to use their parlance. The book that Maia picked up was just the first volume (in total Coelho wrote 1,000 volumes) but it was enough to get him hooked. It seems that at that point in his life what Maia needed was spiritual enlightenment and
Rational Culture, which was the cult that formed around Coelho and his teachings, was going to provide that. Maia promptly binned the vocals he'd written for his double album for RCA, and began writing new lyrics influenced by his new vocation. He also gave away many of his possessions, began dressing in white and, for an 18-month spell, ended up directing much of his money towards the cult. On a positive note, he also gave up drugs and reigned in his monstrous appetite, meaning he at least got himself in shape. Some, but not all, of his band members joined him for the trip. With much mythology around this period in Maia's life, we never get to find out exactly
what drove Maia to become so obsessed with Rational Culture - he himself rarely spoke about the Rational years after leaving acrimoniously in 1975 -, the glimpses into Maia's psyche, the various troubles he'd faced in his life and the fact his father died when he was 16/17 offer up some possible reasons. 'Racional Vol. 1' is another great title in what is proving to be an indispensable series for any Brazilian music fans out there..

MAIA, TIM - RACIONAL, VOL. 3
Just as Tim lived his life doing everything the hard way, so went the making of 'Racional Vol. 3'. Only a handful of people knew about the existence of a rumored third volume of Rational recordings until 2007, when some songs appeared on a Brazilian blog, described as the lost Rational recordings, presumably recorded at the end of his time with Rational Culture. This
is just as essential an artifact of Tim's time involved in Rational Culture as the first two albums.

HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS |
PILGRIM (ITALY) - (BLACK) WALKING INTO THE FOREST
Repress on black vinyl. Gabriele Fiori, already frontman of Rome-based outfits Black Rainbows and Killer Boogie and a key figure in Europe's heavy underground as the head of the Heavy Psych Sounds label and booking agency, was not exactly lacking for things to do. And yet, a couple years back, The Pilgrim started to nebulously take shape as an idea for a solo-project, something different than the hard-driving psychedelia and garage heavy rock for which he'd already been so revered. It wasn't until Jan. 2018 that he really got to putting songs together, but the end result on 'Walking Into The Forest' is a space-folk release with a personality unto itself. Songs like opener 'Peace Of Mind' evoke some of Fiori's more rocking side, while 'Sunset In The Desert' feels like an ode to the acoustic album Kyuss never made, and side B, which starts with the Hawkwind cover 'Brainstorm' and ends with the moody strum of 'Suite #2', originally from Void Generator's 2004 debut EP when Fiori was in the band, hones a cosmic drift and textures that nonetheless remain accessible and organic thanks to their acoustic foundation. "The main point in common with Black Rainbows is the diversity of the songs," Fiori explains. "You have mind-dreams like 'Dragonfly' or 'Sailor,' or the more folk rock 'Peace Of Mind,' passing through space with 'The Time You Wait' and the melodic-melancholic 'When I Call Your Name.' In completing the arrangements, Fiori turned to Black Rainbows drummer Filippo Ragazzoni, and as he says, "Songs came out so spontaneously and easy. I always played acoustic guitar and wanted to push further on this path. The songwriting, rehearsing and recording approach was so different from usual Rainbows or Boogie style, both to me and Filippo for drums, because all the instruments needed to be played smoothly, softly."
