This totally unknown LP from 1975 was recorded in the UK by two close friends. Both of them recorded one side of the album, which originally only existed on two acetate records. Side 1 contains epic neo classical prog rock in the style of Renaissance and Continuum, inspired by the wild and pagan isles of St Kilda. Side 2 contains intense Cohen-like songs which were the result of the heartaches and homesickness of a Canadian student who went to university in the UK. Now this priceless rarity is finally issued in a run of 500 vinyl copies, featuring stunning gatefold artwork.

This soundtrack pays homage to the great European film directors of the late '50s and '60s, such as François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard (to name but two), created by Anton Newcombe on behalf of the Brian Jonestown Massacre for an imaginary French film. Guests on this daring symphonic experience are French chanteuse and multi-instrumentalist SoKo and Italian actress, singer and director Asia Argento. Both vocal performances are in French. Anton Newcombe recorded 'Musique De Film Imaginé' in Berlin, in August 2014. The strangest thing happened to this album after its release in 2015, is that one of the tracks, 'Bonbon', was used on the soundtrack to the 2015 Palme D'Or winning film 'Dheepan', so maybe this album was becoming less imaginary.

Repress of 300 copies on clear blue vinyl. Chicago Odense Ensemble is a unique collaboration that came together in the winter of 2008 while Danish musicians Jonas Munk and Jakob Skott stayed in Chicago. Via mutual friends, and a support gig for Isotope 217 in Millenium Park, a studio session was arranged for the two to improvise and lay down ideas with some of Chicago's finest improvisers, including members of Tortoise and Chicago Underground Collective. During the Chicago studio session hours of loose ideas, grooves and atmospherics were recorded, ranging from loud, intense musical outbursts led by cornetist Rob Mazurek, to delicate, colourful ambiences. Later, the finest moments were edited, re-arranged and mixed by Jonas Munk in his studio in Odense, doing a great deal of cutting and pasting, and adding a psychedelic and dubby vibe to the soundscape, using delays and effects as instruments during the mixing process. The result is something quite unique: a sonic brew that exists somewhere in between the aesthetics of impro jazz, hypnotic rock and electronica. The closest reference for this kind of music is probably early 1970s proto-fusion jazz that strived for a similar synthesis of jazz improvisation, psychedelic rock, eastern and African sounds as well as the use of the studio as a musical tool. Conceptually this album therefore seems more related to Miles Davis' ventures into electric music in the late 1960s that culminated in the early 1970s with albums such as 'Live Evil'..

Repress! One of the holy grails of American psychedelic rock and the rarest album originally released by the collectable Metromedia label. Christopher were an underground acid rock trio featuring future Josefus drummer Doug Tull. They evolved from United Gas, a psychedelic band from Houston who rubbed shoulders with legends like The 13th Floor Elevators and Moving Sidewalks. After relocating to Los Angeles - where they changed their name to Christopher - they played at numerous biker parties and recorded their sole album in 1970 for the Metromedia label. It's an amazing example of West Coast psychedelia/acid-rock featuring strong fuzz-wah guitar, great compositions and superb musicianship. It was housed in a terrific cover depicting the band at the same hippie crash-pad where some scenes from the 'The Trip' movie were filmed. Repress in hard cardboard sleeve with obi and insert with liner notes. Remastered.

Repress on black vinyl. Some albums are certainly a kind of holy grail for music lovers and collectors of a certain genre, style and era. Far Out with their eponymous debut and unfortunately also farewell album from 1973 have created such a sacred gem. Original copies in good condition change hands for up to $2000 and there are certainly a few not so official reprints on vinyl and CD out on the market which do not even come close to do justice to the greatness of the old original black gold. But here we go with the first ever official vinyl reissue taken directly from the original mastertapes supplied by Nippon Columbia. Everland Music did a brilliant job as usual with their reissues. The cover art with a white glove hanging on a washing line to dry comes on an awesome heavy gatefold sleeve. Including 2 inserts with live photos from back in the day when the band was going wild on stage. This is the real thing for those who still miss the melodies and atmosphere of the late '60s and very early '70s when people had a dream of a peaceful world and who enjoy early German cosmic kraut rock like Amon Düül II, Organisation (later to become Kraftwerk), the debut album by Tangerine Dream and more obscure stuff but also international bands like Pink Floyd, Gong, Twink and Hawkwind just as an East Asian version. A real gem and finally available with the real sound and package again.

Born at the dawn of the new millennium in Italy, I.C.O. (Incoming Cerebral Overdrive) are heavy to the core. The end of the first decade of the new millennium marks a new step in the evolution of the band. The title of the new chapter is: "Le Stelle: A Voyage Adrift". The concept, an imaginary, dark and lonely trip adrift discovered in a diary. Emotions of fear, anger and irrational excitement are expressed, waiting for a certain epilogue into desolation, a final annihilation in a cosmic fusion. Sonically, this new album is a journey that intersects and expands in a huge, deep and at times, claustrophobic monolith. Heavy cavernous guitars with back-breaking riffs, multifaceted, effect laden vocals and rhythmic notes plunge into a psychedelic mix of unpredictable sounds of distress and madness that we, the recipient, can only succumb to. The album ultimately analyses the irrational, insane feelings of the man who face a journey toward the unknown. A diary has been found, but we cant say anything more than whats written inside. Impossible to identify the places (real or not, who knows) that he explored, what shines through his words are his fears, sensations and frustrations fed by a sense of belonging to a chaotic, incontrollable, and compromised whole. The participation of Urlo and Poia of Ufomammut, both during the composition and the recording sessions opens the project to a new light. Recorded in Rome at Locomotore Studio by Lorenzo Stecconi (already soundlord for such important discs as Ufomammut and Lento).

Karakorums sonic inner space inevitably conjures up images of heavy cannabis and marijuana usage. The band lock into darkly introverted grooves, with complex patterns, eastern influences, and left field lyricism and vocal, heavy guitar led tracks and the use of wah-wah. They were ultimately uncategorisable, poetic, and this album needs multiple plays to connect to.

In the early 1960s a young British folk singer from London read about the budding folk boom in the USA and wanted a piece of the action. As he and his wife already had travelled through Europe, the Middle East and Africa they didn't hesitate to pack up and go. So, this folksinger added an "O" to his name and became Charles O'Hegarty. Charles and Anna arrived in Canada in 1963 and stayed until early 1965. Then they entered the USA, lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles before they crossed the whole country to go to New York. By then it was early autumn of 1965 when Charles became part of the Greenwich Village scene - and continued to do so until 1970. This is a very brief sketch of Charles O'Hegarty's life in the 1960s - and if you have an "in the right place at the right time"-notion you're absolutely correct. Charles connected to several important folk scenes in Canada and the USA, played the Berkeley Folk Music Festival and many famous folk clubs of the day, recorded a folk-rock single for Verve-Folkways and became a singer-songwriter with his own repertoire. But nowadays only a few people remember Charles O'Hegarty (who died in 2010). And he's not a household name in the annals of '60s folk music - obviously due to a lack of available recordings. Through our association with John Townley, Lollipoppe Shoppe got to hear three unreleased songs by Charles, recorded by John at his Apostolic Studio in 1969. These wonderfully written and sublimely arranged originals cried out to be released - so they started to dig deeper in the hope of finding enough material for a whole LP. Now, after two years of work they can present a retrospective LP+CD-set of '60s studio and live recordings by Charles O'Hegarty, gathered together from six different sources, recorded between 1964 and 1970. Of the 16 tracks on the LP only one has been previously released - and the CD includes seven additional tracks (also unissued). With this release - organized in collaboration with Anna and Marika Hegarty - we hope to set the record straight and put Charles O'Hegarty back on the map of 1960s folksingers/singer- songwriters.

The Trance Dimensionals band was formed by English musician Steve Hillman in 2016. Steve had been making electronic sounds with his audio generator since the early 1970s, when as a teenager he was influenced by Tangerine Dream, Hawkwind and Gong. In the 1980s, as a keyboard player and guitarist, he was part of the then underground electronic music scene in the UK and in the 1990s he was signed to the progressive rock
music label Cyclops Records who released four albums of his prog and space rock instrumental music. Steve has also collaborated with a variety of musicians around the world including the Greek synthesist Thaneco and with members of various orchestras, including the flute player with the
world famous London Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 Steve met with the legendary Nik Turner, a founder member of the space rock group Hawkwind, and they discussed working on an album
together. Steve had already written enough material for an album and he decided to form the Trance Dimensionals band as a way of presenting the new material with Nik fronting the band. Some of the tracks Steve wrote specifically for Nik, in particular 'Thunder Rider Invocation' and 'Sekhmet,' which purposefully harkens back to Nik's Egyptian themed album from 1978 called 'Xitintoday.' At the time Steve was also a member of a prog rock band called Ra Rising and he asked their drummer Dai Rees and bassist Rob Andrews to join the band. Angel Flame, the dancer in Nik's Space Ritual and The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, also agreed to join and soon after Dave Anderson,
who had played bass in the German band Amon Düül II, the Groundhogs and on Hawkwind's 1971 album 'In Search Of Space' also came onboard. In fact Dave plays on the new arrangement on the album of the song he wrote with Nik called 'Children Of The Sun,' that first appeared on 'In Search Of Space.' Another veteran of Hawkwind, Mr Dibs also joins on the track 'Taken To The Limit.' The band had their debut live performance in June 2018 at the Sonic Rock Festival in Worcestershire, England. 3-sided LP version.

Way back at the turn of the '60s she was established at the cutting edge of New York's Greenwich Village folk scene, where she was 'discovered' by Bob Gibson. This compilation features her first two LPs, 'A Maid Of Constant Sorrow' and 'Golden Apples Of The Sun', released by Elektra Records in 1961 and 1962, respectively. Both albums were critically-acclaimed, and became huge underground hits on the nascent folk scene. Within a couple of years she had become a major crossover success, with pop hits and million-selling albums. But these, her first two LPs, are major collectors' items and have always remained particularly popular among her fans.

'CV Sessions' are a combination of the time of the coronavirus and the equipment Sula used in these times, which is analog gear connected and modulated with CV cables (control voltage). Double meaning. Sula used a bunch of small analog synthesizers, drummachines, sequencers, a polyphonic synth, a string ensemble, a casio SK 1 & SK 60, Stylophone x1, guitars, a bass, Mellotron and whatever. Recorded simply and never spending much time on it. The first track was recorded late March 2020, others followed until December. All music composed, performed, recorded and mixed by Sula Bassana (Dave Schmidt) in his bedroom. Mastered by Eroc. Coverdesign by Sula. CD comes in gatefold digisleeve, plus download code. In the 20th year of Sula Bassana's career a new album is showing up! It contains songs composed and recorded from 2013 to 2018, but finished at a few evenings within the last years.
After some more electronic orientated albums, this one here is more in the style of the rock orientated albums like 'Dreamer,' 'The Night,' 'Dark Days' or 'Live At Roadburn 2014.' The first two tracks include some vocals, which is rare on Sula albums, and show the more rockier side of this album. The title track is something different, very melodic, even slightly jazzy, and features Mellotron and some pure fuzz. 'Wurmloch' is a full space flight based on a synthesizer arpeggio with the rest recorded around later. And the album ends with the oldest of these tracks: 'Mellotraum.' This was the first track Sula recorded with his freshly arrived Mellotron (4000d) on it's first day, back in 2013. Limited to 500 copies in gatefold digisleeve.

The Centaurs were one of the top rock bands to come out of Vancouver Canada in the mid 1960s. With their long hair and bad boy image, they were way ahead of their time in both their sound and style. They left Vancouver seeking fame and fortune and ended up in Holland and Germany where they quickly rose to the top of their game, sharing the stage with some of the biggest groups of the day and gaining thousands of adoring fans. But now that Owen Temple Quartet has entrusted the label with the release of Rot in the Sun, it appears that they have their work cut out for them. However thrilled they could have been by the band members' other activities (No Guts No Glory, Bad Chickens, Rodéo Massacre...), it soon became obvious that Rot in the Sun was a mysterious record, one with a powerful identity. This last album spits out a thick richness and contagious darkness, with urges reminiscent of the Gun Club and Chrome Cranks, a Movie Star Junkies-esque fever with Nick Cave's ceremonial tone. And here it is, long-awaited, hoped for, dreamed of... the first album from Les Rivals will finally hit our turntables.
In a state of perpetual change from the start, this Parisian quintet with its roots in Montreuil first burst onto the scene in 2009 with their debut single on Close Up Records, 'Who Are You' and its B side, 'We Did It (To Ourselves)' revealed a group nourished on '60s garage rock and already armed with extraordinary melodies. Two years later came the follow-up, 'Take You Out' / 'Girls', which, while still in the same vein, also revealed a more mature approach from songwriting pair Lefevre/Lister. Galloping rhythms, stinging guitars, swirling keyboards and well-seasoned vocals... the group, with a stable line-up at last, had found a winning brand of psychedelic
pop. After a successful turn at the Cosmic Trip festival in Bourges, Les Rivals were soon at work on their next single, 'Sugar Babies' / 'Fruitcake', which came out in 2012 on Mauvaise Foi Records. This 7 inch allowed the band to show its two very different sides. Hallucinogenic and impossibly catchy on 'Sugar Babies', angsty garage rock on 'Fruitcake'. It's a natural progression from there to the album, which draws on much of the musical journey that the band has been on since its beginning. From freakbeat hymns to nostalgic vignettes of Swingin' London and hearty dollops of rock'n'roll, it's a psychedelic beast of a record, lovingly produced over many months in the studio. With twelve-string guitar, sitar, and even oboe and harpsichord all added to the mix, the Rivals
have refined their smoke-hazed sound and created something even richer.

Every weekend, somewhere in America, there's a talent show going on. People get up on stage in front of their community and give it their all. This particular talent show was held at a church and it features children from the parish and residents from several nearby nursing homes. There are plenty of missed notes and false starts, with a piano accompanist soldiering on through it all. But, more importantly, there are genuine human interactions and honest impromptu moments galore. These are heartfelt performances by people who could be your neighbors, if you're lucky. Tapes of this event have circulated in underground circles since it was recorded in 1981. For several years now, no less a performer than Jad Fair has been doing his own acappella "cover" of Jack Mudurian's medley from the show. The package also includes liner notes by NRBQ's Terry Adams (who's also the man behind the Shaggs reissue and rediscovery of swamp legend Boozoo Chavis). Package produced by Duplex Planet's own David Greenberger. False starts, missed notes, 100% pure perf.

Since a few years Alessandro Bosetti has been collecting voices that become part of the 'Plane/Talea' archive. The creation of the archive stems from dozens of individual meetings and recording sessions, in which each voice is detached from its owner or originator and anonymized. With each new iteration and performance, Bosetti plays the archive as if it were an instrument. He searches for hidden details and correspondences through exploration, immersion and contemplation. Each re-activation of the archive results in a dense and
swarming polyphony made up of thousands of short utterances - shorter than any word bearing a meaning - recombined and interwoven into complex textures. The particularity of the grain of 'Plane/Talea' lies in the autonomous and darting life that each of these fragments lives in a teeming community of voices. Such polyphonies are rich in microtonal detail emerging from the incessant juxtaposition of vocal objets trouvés. Harmonic relationships are sometimes rough and chaotic, other times surprisingly just. The voices are never treated electronically but only recombined and musical tension is provided by the particular grain, inflection, energy of each one of them in counterpoint to the others and to a frugally used instrumentarium (Harpsichord, Ondes Martenot, Cristal Baschet, grand piano, analog synth, Hammond organ). Implicit reference goes to ancient, modern and postmodern forms of vocal polyphony. 'Plane/Talea 31-34' -the continuation of the homonymous 2016 LP- is a work of sampling that projects an imaginary community and a disembodied choir. The four arching and extensive tracks were created between 2017 and 2018 and bear the trace of two specific moments: August nights in a country house in Vicobarone, in the hills of Piacenza (31-32) and a week-long residency at the Studio Venezia, an environment created by French artist Xavier Veilhan in the French pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale (33-34). Limited to 300 copies on black vinyl.

CIRCLE BROS - HAVEN
Circle Bros is the project of Wim Lecluyse, the man behind Morc Records. Just as with Morc records, Circle Bros doesn't focus on quantity - this is the first Circle Bros full length album since late 2001. 'Haven' is definitely one of these albums that happened by accident. The oldest recordings from this session, 'Your Sound' and 'Sure & Sure 2', were originally intended as an EP. Even though these tracks make up the core of the
album, it didn't feel ready. The recordings were shelved, but then 'Unlikely', originally composed for another EP, seemed to match all too well. This was what was necessary to start working with the original recordings again. Ironically, the opening track 'No Turning Back' was the last one to be put on tape. (Literally - the album was mainly recorded on an 8-track cassette recorder). It took almost two years before these tracks made it into a whole - and then it turned out that an LP seemed the best way to gather them. This is an album in the classic sense - not made to be listened to in shuffle mode. So
there was no intention to make an album - these songs just proved to be heard best in an album-form. Michael
Anderson (of Drekka) mastered the recordings, making the album sound even more coherent. On 'Haven', you'll still hear echoes from the classic drone-outfits likes of Windy and Carl or Azusa Plane, but the sound palette is no longer focused just on guitars. Organ, vocals and sound-collages give the more recent
recordings a very warm tone, and sometimes refer to the experimental pop- and folk structures of e.g. Richard
Youngs, Grouper or Castanets. The LP is pressed in an edition of 143 copies. The jackets were silkscreened by Levi Seeldraeyers of Smeraldina-Rima. Recommended if you like:

Persistence Of Sound presents a split LP from two leading
artists in electro-acoustic music. Beatriz Ferreyra and Natasha Barrett are known internationally for their intense explorations of the movement of sounds through space. A member of the original Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), Ferreyra moved from her native Argentina to study with Nadia Boulanger and Edgardo Cantón in Paris in the 1960s. Following Ferreyra's 2019 album 'Huellas Entreveradas' this album presents her follow-up 'Souvenirs Cachés'. Whilst studying with Jonty Harrison at the University of Birmingham, Natasha Barrett was able to work with BEAST (Birmingham Electro Acoustic Sound Theatre), which led to a doctoral composition degree supervised by composer Denis Smalley. They started performing in 1970 and quickly moved from radical improvisation to the use of a notational system, with an effort to develop a scoring method adequate to the group's dynamic and visceral sound show. The third volume in a series of sound poetry coordinated by Luca Garino, 'Nada Canadada', contains nine outbursts of controlled madness dedicated to the memory of Hugo Ball.

'Block Gifts' is a collection of three works for organs composed by James Rushford between 2015 and 2018. Using harmonium, portative organ and electric organ, each piece is linked by Rushford's idiosyncratic combination of strict intervallic systems in different tunings (Werckmeister, quarter-tone, equal temperament), and haptically-informed rhythmic and expressive freedom. Creaks, stutters and sweeping fingers on keys become instrumental sounds in their own right, creating a further logical layer in Rushford's compositional world. Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) formed in the mid-1970s as a loose-knit experimental music collective and multimedia publishing vehicle. Founded by teenage Le Forte Four members Chip Chapman, Joe Potts and Rick Potts and soon joined by Tom Recchion of Doo-Dooettes, LAFMS incorporated free improvisation, modular synthesizers, tape music, sampling, musique concrète, homemade instruments, noise, mail art and avant-rock in permissive and anarchic sessions at the Raymond Building and Poo-Bah Record Shop in old Pasadena. Inspired by The Residents, LAFMS self-released records and periodicals, organized performances and connected with fellow outsiders via post in the years before punk. Their uninhibited, egalitarian ideal of music-making and DIY distribution would influence generations of underground artists. Poo-Bah Records, with its import bins and backroom jam space, attracted the pseudonymous artists forming the initial incarnation of long-running collective Smegma. Early members Ju Suk Reet Meate, Dennis Duck, Cheez-it Ritz, Big Dirty, Amazon Bambi and Dr. Id contributed to various LAFMS compilations and combinations before several core members relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1975, where they recorded their debut album 'Glamour Girl 1941.' Originally released on the LAFMS label in 1979, the LP combines rock instrumentation with tape, synthesizer, horns and voice in a tempestuous cauldron of anti-academy improv and alien noise. Beyond its roots in LAFMS, Smegma would help shape the early Portland punk scene in the late '70s alongside Wipers and Neo Boys. In more recent years, they have collaborated with Merzbow and Wolf Eyes. This first-time vinyl reissue is limited to 500 numbered copies. Comes with insert.

The Threshold HouseBoys Choir was a project by Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson. Operating out of Bangkok, Thailand, the Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV founding member started this audio and visual endeavour following Coil's end. Despite the name, it was a solo project which relied heavily on computer generated vocals. 'Form Grows Rampant' is the soundtrack of a film shot by Christopherson (a video capture at the GinJae Vegetarian Festival in the south of Thailand) and his first major musical project since the tragic death of John Balance and the subsequent demise of Coil. The music is a suite of lenghty dense atmospherics that combine shuddering electronics with sampled vocals, eerie digitalia, buried melodies and sinister undercurrents hinting at a gleaming heart of darkness, with a joyful melodic progression that sounds positively triumphant towards the end of the disc. It's both Coil-esque and quite different, and undoubtedly is the worthy successor of the legendary group that Christopherson created with his partner John Balance.
