Ajay Saggar is Bhajan Bhoy. Since his debut album was released in June 2020 ('Bless Bless') he has been receiving critical acclaim for his recorded output and his live shows. On Friday 10 March 2023, Bhajan Bhoy releases TWO separate albums on the same day. These will be Bhajan Bhoy's third and fourth albums, and a joint release on highly respected independent labels Cardinal Fuzz (UK) and Feeding Tube Records (USA). Drawing from the deep triple bad acid well of psychedelia, Bhajan Bhoy further shifts the parameters surrounding the perceptions aligned to this genre with a beautiful and meditative set of tracks. A kaleidoscopic sonic universe within which you will find raga-esque musical excursions, meditative Dream House drone, beautiful folk inflected jams on a Laurel Canyon tip, electronic dreamscapes and heavy guitar riffola where sometimes two chords are enough. Listening to the two albums and you could imagine Pandit Pran Nath, Spacemen 3, Pauline Oliveros, and Don Cherry drinking the same psilocybin tea beforehand, and then embarking to the studio to lay down the jams. This is the sound of freedom! Byron Coley/The Wire (January 2023) said of the previous release 'Shanti Shanti Shanti': "another fine release by Dutch musician Ajay Saggar. His basic thrust is modern psychedelia, minted from radio snippets, dub reverb flapping, elegant guitar washing, electronic drones interwoven with splashes of mock jaw harp or splashy drums, and a generally stoned atmosphere. And the concept is spectrally good!" The songs for 'To Love Is To Love (Vols. 1+2)' were recorded and mixed between January 2021 and June 2022 at Soundation Studio... Ajay's sonic laboratory. As he states: "it was a highly focused and intensive period of work for me. The pandemic allowed me to go and work in the studio all day and into the night pretty much everyday. I'd never felt more focused in my pursuit of making a set of songs. It yielded a body of work that I am incredibly proud of, and think is some of the best stuff I've done. I was fortunate enough to have some incredibly talented players join me on some songs (Ab Baars, Gayle Brogan, Sheila Bosco, Holly Habstritt Gaal, Mees Siderius, Arvind Ganga, Aaron Lumley, Elsa v/d Linden, Ditmer Weertman). The songs evolved in a very organic manner and they are part of a journey, which is the reason why there are two separate albums_..the one album feeds into the other. Likely, just a one-time pressing. Definitely, this will be the only edition that includes the two bonus 7"s. "So many of the hugely influential bands of the late 1980s scoffed at the overproduced sounds of that decade (including scoffing at many bands that were looking back to the 1960s) and dug deeper into the raw side of the 1960s and previous (and provided so much influence for the decades that followed and the music of today), but while Dead Moon wasn't the only kick ass band from that era that looked back and charged forward, unlike the others, Dead Moon grew out of their own roots, as clearly revealed by these recording by the Weeds. Perhaps even more importantly, or even more accurately, these recordings show that Fred Cole always dug deep to deliver the raw truth. It didn't matter the era, Cole always cut straight through the bullshit and reached right into the source, delivered songs like the ones presented here, garage acid rock that burns like a branding iron into your heart." ~Winch (Green Noise). The 12" is a straight reissue of the 1968 LP (unfortunately originally released as The Lollipop Shoppe but now returned to the real name of the band). One 7" features artwork from the Weeds' 1971 single and contains the 4 songs released as The Weeds (originally on separate 7", one released 1971 and the other 1966 which includes cover of Them's 'Little Girl'). The other 7" features artwork from the 1968 Lollipop Shoppe 7" but since those two cuts were included on the LP, this features 4 other songs, 'Someone I Knew' and 'Through My Window' from the 1969 single, and 'Who's It Gonna Be' and 'Mr. Madison Avenue.'
Instead of pressing a double album that could have provided more material, this package was done intentionally to house all the essential cuts (and all the original artwork of the LP and 7" releases).

GORDON, DEXTER - GO!
Gordon is a great advertisement for live jazz. When he really starts "stretchin' out" on a number, and his long, firmly anchored legs begin vibrating rapidly from side to side, the intense swing of his music has a natural visual counterpart. It's true that you cannot see him in this album but you can feel the impact of his personality as it is poured into his music. This session was not recorded in a nightclub performance but in its informal symmetry, it matches the relaxed atmosphere that the best of those made in that manner engender. Everyone was really together, in all the most positive meanings of that word. It was so good that Blue Note put these four men in the studio again, two days later. We'll be hearing that one in the near future. Meanwhile, proceed directly to 'Go!' You won't collect $200.00, but you will get a monopoly of Melody Avenue, Swing Street and Inspiration Place. Originally released on Blue Note in 1962.
