0524098 2x7" EN 58 EVER/NEVER	CHRISTENSEN, STEFAN - RUBY (2X7") The 'Ruby' DOUBLE 7-INCH was made in loving commemoration of Carl Robert Talbot who was murdered by corrections officers inside the Whalley Avenue jail in New Haven, CT in 2019. 'Ruby' was culled together over a few months entirely from initially improvised tracks made on a variety of second rate guitars including a cheap plastic parlor guitar, a broken banjo, an upside down Strat and the Cowboy Guitar. Most of the rest of the instruments and amplifiers used in overdubbing were thrift store finds and roadside junk. The 'Stunt Rock' soundtrack highlights the sweet spot between the playful, campy occult imagery of the '70s before Satanic Panic and the religious right's kayfabe outrage pushed bands to tone things down in favor of glam pomp. What you get here is pure, knobby occult heavy metal that sounds something like 'Sin After Sin'-era Judas Priest with Robert Plant on vocals, crossed with the melodrama of Alice Cooper and The Who's rock operas. The songs are taut, quickly shifting from part to part, motif to overture. The tunes are infinitely catchy and laden with attention grabbing titles like 'Talking To The Devil,' 'Mark Of The Beast,' 'Stuntrocker' and 'Burned Alive.' On the surface, the film 'Stunt Rock' seems campy and crazy enough to be embraced even if the music weren't all that exciting, but Sorcery proves that their work deserves to be seriously appreciated in the canon of classic rock. Sorcery was founded in 1975, and recently reformed after inking the contract in 2021 with RidingEasy Records for the album reissue. So, rest assured, fans will have the opportunity to hear these songs live, potentially accompanied by magicians as well for the full effect. His 2020 album 'Dream Erosion' was a collection of languorous synth atmospheres that washed by in soft fragments. 'Those Days Are Dust' is the second collection of Thomas' synthesizer pieces, this time taking a turn away from the gentle, sleepy glow of its predecessor for an approach that's spare and absorptive. Where 'Dream Erosion' was made up of fully arranged songs, the process for 'Those Days Are Dust' was different. Usually working with a single synth and a few different analogue tape delay units, Thomas recorded experiments with loops and minimal composition daily throughout 2021. This resulted in music with a wintery feel, skeletal and solitary sounds akin to Hans-Joachim Roedelius' reflective sketches or the loneliest passages of Aphex Twin's 'Selected Ambient Works' catalogue. 'Man From Wareika' was the first album recording for Rico Rodriguez led by his own artistic imagination, not to mention the only roots reggae album to be released on Blue Note Records in the USA. After 15 years Rodriguez returned for the first time to Jamaica. He had left the country in 1961 when he was already heavily involved in creating the then new ska sound. In 1976 he added something new to reggae music. The nine self-composed tracks on the album offer intense Jamaican rhythms with seriously horn lines more linked to the jazz heritage. The trombonist album was released on Island Records in 1976 for the UK market and soon labeled as a revolutionary step forward. Comes on gold coloured vinyl.
