Türküola reissues another pearl from Erkin Koray's catalogue once again. It was previously released in Turkey as Erkin Koray's debut album. The album focuses on the oriental psychedelic singles of Erkin Koray from the era between 1967-1973. The ultra-energetic cover of 'The Land Of 1000 Dances' ('Sana Birseyler Olmus') with its killer organ, 'Mesafeler' with its aroma of LSD, 'Yagmur' with its psychedelic effects on an oriental piece, 'Kizlari Da Alin Askere', his first beat folk hit, 'Istemem' with its killer guitars and drums are the special pearls of this album. Also includes 'Askimiz Bitecek' with its electric bouzouki performance, which is a rare thing to hear in Turkish psychedelia. Last but not least Koray's Altin Mikrofon arrangement 'Çiçek Dagi' is a great beat piece with hard touches which is still covered by bands like Boom Pam. The lyrics were originally written by Wilfred Edward Salter Owen (1893-1918) about the fortune of five British 'Tommies' during World War I. |

CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC - CLOUD COVERED
The seventh album by instrumental post-doom quartet Clouds Taste Satanic release is titled 'Cloud Covered' and features covers of tunes that have had a profound influence on the band but are not necessarily from the metal/doom genre. Portions of the album were previewed in 'The Satanic Singles Series' which released its first of four parts on November 6, 2020 featuring 'Funeral For A Friend' b/w 'Also Sprach Zarathustra'. Three more singles were released in December, January and February leading up to the full length Cloud Covered album which has two additional tunes not released in the singles series. Without a doubt these covers will be heavier than the originals but not necessarily doomier. After 6 full-length albums (one a double) of original instrumental doom, 'Cloud Covered' is a way for the band to change up the pace both for themselves and their supporters. Still fully instrumental but with songs well under the 20 minute mark, these songs make for a somewhat different CTS listening experience. The songs included in 'Cloud Covered' were engineered and mixed by Ben Rice at Degraw Sound in Brooklyn and mastered by Alan Douches (High On Fire, Converge, Mastodon) at West West Side Music. The art is by Alexandre Goulet whose graphic design work has graced every Dopethrone record to date. Be Heavy or Be Doomed! |

The music consists of improvisations based on bass lines by Watt and Hoff. The point was for the three (including fabulous drummer Joe Berardi) to build non-idiomatic drums and bass-based improvised music, to hopefully enact in music some of Emma Goldman's words on the relationship of the individual to the collective. Watt found phrases in Goldman's writing to name the songs after. The tracks are mostly instrumental, with the exception of the one word chant 'Atamansha' that Hoff and comrade Tivona sang, a reference to early 20th century revolutionary Maria Nikiforova. The music is both free-improvisation inspired by the revolutionary avant-garde musicians of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Julius Hemphill, Alice Coltrane, etc. and also very much punk rock in its ethos of DIY egalitarianism. Limited to 100 copies on black vinyl. |

PARTISANS - ANARCHY IN ALKATRAZ/NO FUTURE DEMOS 1980-1982
19 track round up of demos from The Partisans who formed in Bridgend, South Wales in 1978 and ended up being one of the cream of the UK82 punk movement. The first side of the LP has 10 tracks recorded in April 1980 in one day and like bands in their early years - it features mainly covers. It includes songs from the Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs, Buzzcocks, UK Subs, Cockney Rejects and yes even more UK Subs. It also has primitive and raw versions of future Partisans classics 'No Time' and 'I Don't Give A Fuck'. This demo has never been heard or released in any form. Less than a year later, February 1981 with Savage leaving and Louise joining on bass, the band have their most well known line up and are in full flow with a 6 track demo that was sent to No Future Records. It's not surprising the label snapped them up straight away as the recordings are high energy and full of anthemic gems. The label released 'Police Story' and 'Killing Machine' as the debut 7" direct from these recordings. The other four tracks from this demo have never been released on vinyl. The last three tracks on the LP are the demos from 1982 recorded for No Future for the '17 Years Of Hell' single. Rawer and more punk than the actual well known versions. All members of the bands helped in this release and shared original masters from which everything was remastered plus archive from their own personal collections including photos galore, handouts, ticket stubs, interviews etc. which are included in the 28 page booklet. |
