On 'Idiom', Trust the Mask's ability to mix the analogue and the synthetic, the physical and the digital, is out in full force. Elisa's songcraft centres around balancing the possibilities of electronic music with the more tactile sounds of live instruments, specifically those passed along by her collector father, Giuseppe Dal Bianco - a flautist with a collection of over 300 wind and percussion instruments from
every continent in the world. Vittoria's vocals, meanwhile, complement these ideas with both softness and power. She cites Florence + the Machine as her ultimate inspiration - a singer who also values the importance of "keeping the real part of your individual voice, without smoothing it out" - as well as
Zola Jesus and Dillon, both artists with a unique timbre to their sound.
