Singer Pierre Laru (Curfew, Pete & the Atomics) and drummer Éric Bessenay share the common interest for swamp rock, fuzz guitars and the music of Link Wray. They formed the Starphonics and they began to explore surf and rockabilly. Then they added the spirit of Charlie Feathers, influences from soundtracks from Quentin Tarantino and Jim Jarmusch movies, Johnny Cash and Nick Cave.
