Here's a vinyl reissue of the duo's debut-LP, originally released in 1971 by RCA Brazil. Born in Bahia, Antonio Carlos and Jocafi formed a very successful writing duo that worked with the likes of Wilson Simonal, Rosinha De Valença, Trio Mocotó, Milton Banana, Toquinho and others. This LP offers a great mixture of psychedelic rock, samba-funk and tripped out MPB.

SAWAI, TADAO/KAZUE SAWAI/HOZAN YAMAMOTO A.O. - JAZZ ROCK

They say you can't judge a book by its cover, and going by 'Jazz Rock', nor a record by its title. Though entering into jazz territory and featuring some distorted guitar, 'Jazz Rock' is more a beautiful marriage of funky breakbeat drumming and spiritual jazz ... read more »

CRAVO & CANELA - PRECO DA CADA UM

One of the rarer and more mysterious Brazilian albums and one of the best examples of MPB in the mid-to-late '70s. More samba than bossa, this record has sophisticated phrasing that you might expect in some of the EMI/Odeon work from earlier in the decade. Cravo & ... read more »

AKOUSSAH, AKOFA - AKOFA AKOUSSAH

Rich, deep, percussive soulful folk album from master Togolese singer Akofa Akoussah. The album moves through uptempo Afro-folk-funk on 'Tango' to deep ballads of 'Ramer Sans Rame' and 'I Tcho Tchass' and lighter moments on 'G Blem Di' and 'Mitso Aseye'. Akofa's exceptional ... read more »
