The re-release of the mythical "Le sommeil du singe", the album of Gestalt from Lyon released in 1987 and backed with three never released titles, the whole for the first time on CD.
Gestalt formed 1982 in Lyon. The band influences range from Jim
Morrisson to Léo Ferré, Hawkwind to Béla Bartok, and the most inventive bands of the time as Tuxedomoon or Mecano. But all in all the band is looking for its own way, the one of a dark rock energy melted with fine compositions. The one of an esthetical movement into some electrical directings and some deep worked lyrics. With a stable line-up but for the drums, the band is very active during seven years. They organize sometimes their own gigs, in Lyon (with L'Enfance Eternelle) or Marseilles (with Nadja). "Le sommeil du singe" album is released in 1987 in the same do it yourself way. Acclaimed for its quality it doesn't offer the band the chance to sign a label and start a national tour. After few more gigs, also in Swiss and Germany, the band records tree new tracks (included in the re-release). Irony of fate, Gestalt that was singing the mixing of East and West, and the Berliner Kinder stops its activities few weeks before the fall of the wall...
