Pluto, an excellent, if little-known and much underrated band.
The band's only album 'Pluto' (originally released on the Dawn label back in November 1971) has, during the latter half of the '90s, become a much sought-after item in the ever-expanding underground/progressive sector of the record collectors' market. Conceived initially by guitarist Paul Gardner and taking their name from the Disney cartoon character, they were formed in North London in 1970. This lone Pluto LP is easy to recommend for those who like the early '70s hard rock bands.
'Pluto' is available as a limited numbered edition of 750 copies on translucent magenta coloured vinyl.

Formed in 1984 in Tampa, Florida, originally under the name Executioner, the band created a style that was characterized with dense groove based detuned riffs and the inhuman howl of frontman John Tardy. Their debut album 'Slowly We Rot' blew minds everywhere, pushing the death metal envelope further with the brutality of the vocal approach and the intensity of the music. This release is complimented with the addition of liner notes from writer David Gehlke, who has written 'Turned Inside Out,' the official biography of Obituary. To promote the album, The Bangles launched the 'In A Different Light' tour, which included both North American and European dates. On 12th February 1986, the group performed at The Loft in Berlin, Germany; a concert widely regarded as one of the standout performances from the tour. By this stage of their career, The Bangles had become a dynamic and polished live act, and the performance that evening was nothing short of exceptional. Showcasing a blend of newer material, earlier tracks, and a healthy selection of cover versions, the band delivered an electrifying set that enthralled the audience.
The show was also broadcast on local German radio, and it is now presented here on this new CD release, giving fans of this iconic all-female band the opportunity to experience them at their live best.

Many Heads fans would claim you haven't really heard early Talking Heads until you've heard the earliest Talking Heads. Still unsigned and in their early twenties, this first configuration of the Heads laid down the very first known recorded versions of such notable tracks as 'Psycho Killer,' 'Thank You For Sending Me An Angel,' 'I'm Not In Love' and fourteen other cuts, many later to feature on the band's debut and sophomore albums, albeit in 'finished' and very different versions, alongside 4 tracks unreleased in any version for many further years. Coil's discography nearly doubled, and in the midst of this fruitful period
Thighpaulsandra asked the simple question: why doesn't Coil play live? After a 16-year wait, thanks to the rapid technological advancement in the form of MacBooks, DAWs, VSTs and plugins, Coil were able bring their music to the stage as always envisioned. With performance, they could embrace the risks and freedoms of real time sonic manipulation, as noted by Sleazy: "Reshap(ing) the show minute by minute... the direction is very spontaneous, not so much in the way of like jazz improvisation but in a kind stream of consciousness - Thighpaulsandra brought us his wisdom, and he was able to convince us we could do it." Playing live, Coil was "like a snake shedding its skin," transforming into something "completely different" every six months; in preparing for 2004's 'Even An Evil Fatigue' live series, Coil began work on their next period-defining masterpiece 'Black Antlers.'
'Black Antlers' showcases late-period Coil: stripped down, tighter, and leaner. The music became more rhythmic, with a greater emphasis on beats: "the songs we did tend to be more... not rock in any sense of a word, but you know, more conventional in terms of structure, but now what we're doing is sort of within an 'electronic' genre." 'Black Antlers''s sound is an intoxicating energy, combining Thighpaulsandra's advanced synthesis, Balance's poetic lyricism and Christopherson's flirtations with jazz and Ableton-aided PowerBook
maximalism. Rounding out the trio were renowned hurdy-gurdy player Cliff Stapleton on a "specifically commissioned" electric variant, to merge into the band's "strange and other-worldly music"; Royal Academy of Music trained
percussionist Tom Edwards (who also appeared with Thighpaulsandra in Spiritualized's live band); and European and Near East winds specialist Mike York on pipes, bombarde, duduk and balalaika. Initially released as an "album-in-progress" in June 2004, a post on the Threshold House website noted,
"Please remember that September will see Coil recording the album 'Black Antlers (Proper).'" Jhonn Balance passed away that November; Christopherson reunited with 'Love's Secret Domain' collaborator Danny Hyde to complete 'Black Antlers' by May 2006.

RILEY, TERRY - A RAINBOW IN CURVED AIR
Keyboard virtuoso Terry Riley started experimenting with different instruments in the '50s. One of his electronic music landmarks is his third album 'A Rainbow In Curved Air.' Through the use of overdubbing, he recorded all the instruments to feature on the title track. It's a colorful, psychedelic, atmospheric and revolutionary song. The second track consists of a loop of saxophones and is the dreamy and calm opposite of the title track. Fans of electronic music, such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, would love this record. Taking inspiration from Hindustani classical music and jazz techniques, Riley's masterpiece influenced many musicians, from the likes of Brian Eno to Emeralds. 'A Rainbow In Curved Air' is available as a limited edition of 750 numbered copies on translucent yellow coloured vinyl.

SoiSong is the bright, stunning, and short-lived project conceived in 2007 by Ivan Pavlov (CoH) and Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson (of Coil). The duo combined Pavlov's uncompromisingly-visceral digital aesthetics with Sleazy's decadent, dark and whimsical approach to creation. Primarily
located on the Eastern Pacific Rim, the two named the project after the Thai word for 'two' (song), as well as the seedy red-light quarters ("gloomy Soi's, or alley-ways") of Bangkok. Together, they developed a unique, elegant, yet rather cryptical musical language. SoiSong's debut full-length 'xAj3z' is a digital reference to jazz: seemingly acoustic, effervescent, boundary breaking, digital-era entertainment where light rays and tropical heat are backed up by zeroes and ones. The album is a defining statement, and an arbiter of the possibilities in the (then-)developing late-2000s music landscape. Without the desire to be commercial, or convenient, SoiSong was not beholden to the conventions of easily defined tagging, and, in their own, "new, as-yet-un-categorizable
genre," with 'xAj3z' being its masterwork. 'xAj3z' freely mixes musical styles and combines various approaches to
music-making: artificial vocalists are accompanied by real drums, jazz-noir arrangements meet the delicate melodics of the South Seas, and computers are made to sound warm and organic. The album shows no apparent respect for genre-definition and aims at communicating with the listener at highest levels of emotional intensity, often lyrical, sometimes dark, on
occasions amusing and even uplifting. "Our songs, like Angels, are largely Mathematical." Within the album's clear emphasis on bass, a distinct element are also the artificial vocalists: beautiful, otherworldly, organic yet distinctly alien. Utilizing an image of a bespoke virtual singer created by the external members of the collective Han Li Chiou and Yuu Soijinsan Omiya, as Pavlov noted in 2025, "the voice nothing else but an instrument that operates with syllables, which
is what makes the performance reminiscent of a language... Yet, regardless of how poetic it might sound to a human ear, that sequence of syllables remains completely meaningless." In collaborating with Pavlov as SoiSong, Christopherson found the music's development natural: "I wouldn't say that SoiSong really resembles anything that's come before, particularly. But if you know, and appreciate what we both did before, then that knowledge will bring more appreciation and understanding to what we do now. It's a progression from the past to the future." On the original liner notes, Peter Christopherson
provides "Melodic Primitives and vocalists" with Ivan Pavlov on "instruments and Pentium jazz processing." A standout of 'xAj3z,' 'Dtorumi' is one of the most breathtaking songs in the
catalogue raisonné of Christopherson and Pavlov's combined output, dripping in pseudo jazz and trip hop atmospheres. With heavily gated drums, bass synthesizers and ghostly syllabic non-vocals, 'Dtorumi' is a masterclass in post-'90s Warp electronic music. The influence of the Eastern Pacific is
awash on 'J3z,' with digital bird chirps, harpsichords, upright bass stabs, and the sounds of sunlight shimmering on 3D rendered shores - reminiscent of the geographically adjacent Susumu Yokota. And new to the Dais reissue is 'Lom Tum Lai Kwee,' a new mix of what was originally a live track only.
'Lom Tum Lai Kwee' is an exercise in stereo separation, step sequencers and hallucinogenic grandeur, where the subs build into bells, twinkles, and horns, recalling the heights of Tangerine Dream's imperial era. Album closer 'Ti-Di-Ti Naoo,' which in the SoiSong studios had a utopian provisional title
'Thai Olympics Anthem,' is reminiscent of the transformation of a concert hall from soundcheck to recital: a polite piano is carefully joined by live brass and strings, as the repeated non-lyric "ti di ti naoo" echoes around the room. As 'xAj3z' ends, there's warmth from the sun: a new dawn on the horizon line, where possibilities are endless.

In the late-1990s, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson moved with Jhonn Balance - his partner in life and in Coil - from London to the rural Weston-Super-Mare, creating an environment for all things "musick, musick, musick!" with a revolving door of new members, including Thighpaulsandra. Coil's discography nearly doubled, and in the midst of this fruitful period
Thighpaulsandra asked the simple question: why doesn't Coil play live? After a 16-year wait, thanks to the rapid technological advancement in the form of MacBooks, DAWs, VSTs and plugins, Coil were able bring their music to the stage as always envisioned. With performance, they could embrace the risks and freedoms of real time sonic manipulation, as noted by Sleazy: "Reshap(ing) the show minute by minute... the direction is very spontaneous, not so much in the way of like jazz improvisation but in a kind stream of consciousness - Thighpaulsandra brought us his wisdom, and he was able to convince us we could do it." Playing live, Coil was "like a snake shedding its skin," transforming into something "completely different" every six months; in preparing for 2004's 'Even An Evil Fatigue' live series, Coil began work on their next period-defining masterpiece 'Black Antlers.'
'Black Antlers' showcases late-period Coil: stripped down, tighter, and leaner. The music became more rhythmic, with a greater emphasis on beats: "the songs we did tend to be more... not rock in any sense of a word, but you know, more conventional in terms of structure, but now what we're doing is sort of within an 'electronic' genre." 'Black Antlers''s sound is an intoxicating energy, combining Thighpaulsandra's advanced synthesis, Balance's poetic lyricism and Christopherson's flirtations with jazz and Ableton-aided PowerBook
maximalism. Rounding out the trio were renowned hurdy-gurdy player Cliff Stapleton on a "specifically commissioned" electric variant, to merge into the band's "strange and other-worldly music"; Royal Academy of Music trained
percussionist Tom Edwards (who also appeared with Thighpaulsandra in Spiritualized's live band); and European and Near East winds specialist Mike York on pipes, bombarde, duduk and balalaika. Initially released as an "album-in-progress" in June 2004, a post on the Threshold House website noted,
"Please remember that September will see Coil recording the album 'Black Antlers (Proper).'" Jhonn Balance passed away that November; Christopherson reunited with 'Love's Secret Domain' collaborator Danny Hyde to complete 'Black Antlers' by May 2006.

Second album by Italian avant-garde composer. Originally released in 1979, 'Sei Note In Logica' (Six Notes In Logic) is Cacciapaglia's second album. While his debut, 'Sonanze,' offers a series of ambient mini-soundtracks, 'Sei Note' presents a singular, sinuous piece. The composition is based on a finite set of musical notes, yet this limitation is the point of departure for a grand tour of possible combinations and enthralling timbres (marimbas, strings, reeds and human voice).
Like Steve Reich's 'Music For 18 Musicians,' the joyous experiment of 'Sei Note' is grounded in constant variation. Often doubled by multiple instruments, non-repeating patterns are exquisitely layered, while electro-acoustic signals transform and further refract through visceral effects. Within this conceptual framework, Cacciapaglia does not so much juxtapose rigid dichotomies - acoustic vs. electronic, melodic vs. dissonant, simple vs. complex - as fuse them into an expansive whole. What started as an inspired study in Minimalism becomes a bold feat of 20th century music. 'Sei Note In Logica' is deeply sincere and, at the same time, quite playful. With one foot firmly planted in the past and the other steeped in technology, Cacciapaglia's influence can be heard in the work of Jim O'Rourke, Fennesz and Ben Vida.

'Marca Passo' continues this legacy, seamlessly fusing Brazilian musical traditions with global influences while showcasing the exceptional musicianship that powers Azymuth's distinctive, multi-dimensional sound. The album is produced by studio mastermind Daniel Maunick, responsible for Azymuth's two previous studio albums, 'Fênix' in 2016 and 'Aurora' in 2011. Daniel's credits also include albums by Marcos Valle, Sabrina Malheiros and Terry Callier. Azymuth also invited Daniel's father, British jazz-funk royalty Jean Paul "Bluey" Maunick, of Incognito, to play guitar on a new version of Azymuth's eighties classic 'Last Summer In Rio,' in tribute to the song's composer, José Roberto Bertrami. Equally, 'Samba Pro Mamao' is a new composition dedicated to Azymuth's beloved original drummer, Ivan "Mamao" Conti.

Sublime private-press piano improvisations channeled from another world by Willem Nyland. Remastered from the original tapes and reissued for the first time, with in-depth liner notes by Matt Marble of the American Museum of Paramusicology.
A Columbia-educated chemist by profession and a self-taught pianist by affinity, Willem Nyland (1890-1975) is known as a spiritual teacher in the tradition of Greek-Armenian mystic George Gurdjieff. In the mid/late 1960s, a split with Gurdjieff led Nyland to start his own group in upstate New York. There, after a Friday night lecture on 'The Work' and a shot of brandy, Nyland would launch into remarkable piano improvisations on a specially tuned baby grand, sometimes playing for over an hour. Each improvisation was meticulously recorded and cataloged, a major part of Nyland's teachings. 16 of these recordings were released as standalone LPs on Nyland's own Gauge Hill Press, with artwork by Hungarian American decorative artist Ilonka Karasz, Nyland's wife of over 50 years. These records, with their cascading, deeply emotional playing and beautiful cover art, have become highly coveted by collectors and "paramusicologists." Each contains depths of spiritual information and lyrical, almost visual instrumental storytelling. Nyland deftly and subtly shifts moods and tones throughout these truly inspired extended improvisations.

PART, ARVO - SILENTIUM
Four pieces by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, a pioneer of "holy minimalism." The album centers around a never-before-released rendition of 'Silentium,' the second movement of Pärt's most famous concerto, 'Tabula Rasa,' performed by Boston-based chamber orchestra A Far Cry. The group plays 'Silentium' at nearly half the speed of the best-known version, released on ECM in 1984. The piece, known for its healing properties for the dying and often used in palliative care facilities (one patient famously called it "angel music"), is breathtaking at half speed, seemingly stilling time itself. The album compiles some of the most stunning renditions of Pärt's music ever recorded. 'Vater Unser (Arr. For Trombone & String Ensemble)' is somehow warm and austere at once. A miniature epic. Pianist Marcel Worm's solo version of 'Variationen Zur Gesundung Von Arinuschka' is as beautiful as anything we've ever heard. 'Fratres For Strings And Percussion' is one of Arvo Pärt's most celebrated works. The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra's version is iconic, filled with emotional playing right on the verge of overly romantic, but never tipping over. Pärt's approach to both music and life is as sparse as the compositions he creates. He once said, "I have nothing to say... Music says what I need to say. And it is dangerous to say anything, because if I've said it already in words there might be nothing left for my music." 'Silentium' continues Mississippi Records' fascination with this great contemporary composer. High-quality, heavy vinyl pressed at Smashed Plastic in Chicago, presented in deluxe reverse-board jacket with artwork by Pärt's holy-minimal contemporary, Eduard Steinberg.

I & II' on ICR. 8 fantastic experimental, synth pieces recorded at his then home of Tollerton nr. York at various points between 1982 and 1989 and remastered by Colin in 2020. He says of this collection: "Over 30 years does seem like a long time, but in terms of how I worked then and how I work now, it seems even longer. The way these tracks were made feels like another world. Yet I'm still very connected to them and when I remastered them I was taken back to when I was exploring new equipment and ways of working. Primitive sampling and looping had arrived, to use alongside older analogue machines, guitars and early digital synths and effects processors. Happy daze..."
The album features another beautiful sleeve from longterm collaborator Jonathan Coleclough, and is released as a pressing of 300 LPs on vinyl only.

Dorothy Ashby was the very best and most swinging performer on the multi-stringed instrument associated with the gates of heaven. Here on Earth, Ashby adeptly plucked and strummed the harp like nobody else, as evidenced on a single reissue containing her two best LPs for the Prestige and Prestige/New Jazz labels from 1958 -- 'Hip Harp' and 'In A Minor Groove.' Alongside her prior efforts for the Savoy label, they collectively represent a small but substantive discography for the Detroit native in small group settings. With the exceptional flute sounds produced by Frank Wess, the combo plays music that is oriented via a unique sonic palate, further enhanced by the principals in the standards and originals they have chosen. Fellow Detroiter Herman Wright is here on bass, with duties split between legendary drummers Art Taylor and Roy Haynes, who place particular emphasis on subtle brushwork. Of course, the watchword of Ashby's sound is elegance, as she and Wess weave magical threads of gold and silver through standards like the circular and pristine 'Moonlight In Vermont,' the dramatic, slow 'Yesterdays,' or the sad 'Alone Together.' In a more Baroque or chamber setting, 'Charmain' and 'It's A Minor Thing' have Wess and Ashby thinking on a regal or Grecian platform. The variety on this collection is impressive, as you hear cinematic bluesy proclamations on 'Autumn In Rome,' striking mystery in 'Taboo,' mischievous and sly winks during 'Rascallity,' and a sexy calypso-to-swing beat as 'You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To' unfolds. Lou Blackburn's debut Imperial session has to be considered mostly a bop album, even though traces of contemporary pop culture and soul are clearly an influence. The trombone player is joined by Freddie Hill (trumpet), Horace Tapscott (piano), John Duke (bass) and Leroy Henderson (drums). Blackburn was born in Rankin, Pennsylvania, during the 1950s, he played swing music with Lionel Hampton. In the early 1960s, he began performing with musicians like Cat Anderson, among others. He also appears on the album Mingus at Monterey. He also did crossover work with The Beach Boys and The Turtles, among others. From 1970, he lived in Germany, where he formed the amazing and highly influential ethno jazz band Mombasa. 'Jazz Frontier' was his second - and last - album for the US independent company Imperial and was released in 1963. Comes on clear vinyl.

A legendary album by one of the masters of modern jazz drumming! Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in 1963, 'Cymbalism' is among the albums Roy Haynes provided for Prestige's New Jazz series. This session features the drummer leading an acoustic quartet with Frank Strozier (alto sax, flute) Ronnie Mathews (piano) and Larry Ridley (bass). An unpredictable hard bop-post bop transitional album with different colors and moods. From the primary influence of Charlie Parker through a kind of expanded sound inspired by coeval Coltrane.

Sulatron Records is proud to present you the first vinyl release by a great instrumental neo-krautrock, psychedelic rock band from France! Human Teorema is a Parisian quartet formed in 2012. Built around a cyclopean bass-drums combination, their cosmic music oscillates between dreamy, contemplative progressive rock and wild, turbulent krautrock. It's a journey to nowhere, an exhilarating sensation of infinite interior space, an improvised exploration of the seas of psychedelic ambient music that plunges listeners into a vast and delicate reverie. They released several EPs, played plenty of Parisian dates, held long-time residents at Mains d'Oeuvres, and even an appearance on TV Canal+'s 'Petit Journal' during the last years. The album traces the journey, explorations, and visions of Jan Calet, a professor of ancient civilizations in Rome in the early '90s, as he traverses through the ages and abysses until his renewal. What you hear is a mix of styles, from dreamy cosmic soundscapes over some wonderful sentimental and mellotron fueled moments à la Friends Of Dean Martinez to some intense stuff, some progrock, some dub, pretty hard to describe. 'Looking Ahead' is the debut album by American jazz musician Ken McIntyre, recorded with fellow alto saxophonist Eric Dolphy in 1960 and released on the New Jazz label in January 1961. From the beginning Mr. McIntyre considered himself part of the avant-garde or 'new thing' movement in jazz, as spearheaded by musicians like Ornette Coleman, Bill Dixon and Cecil Taylor, although his own music was considerably more traditionally melodic than theirs. He played a whole fleet of reed instruments, including oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet and saxophones. In 1964, on the album 'Way, Way Out,' he recorded bouncing, urgent jazz tunes with chilly, dissonant string arrangements; in 1966, he accompanied Mr. Taylor on the album 'Unit Structures,' a landmark recording of the jazz avant-garde.

This is dense, lyrical and very stimulating music deeply rooted in the bop tradition yet with an open ear to other sound territories.

Atlanta psych 5-piece Reverends drifted into our musical landscape in 2016 with a sole 7" pulsating with 'Psychocandy' fuzz called 'Dark Demon', then quickly followed up the hype with a full-length the same year. Titled 'Derealization Blues', it was immediately evident from the first note that these guys weren't just one-trick ponies.
