The summer of soul collides with the acid rock revolution in this 1969 opus originally licensed by MCA sub label UNI (roster of talented artists such as Strawberry Alarm Clock, Hugh Masekela and Fever Tree). The sole album by US power trio Fields is a majestic blues rock effort, arranged by cultish producer Gene Page ('Blacula' soundtrack, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, The Whispers, Gladys Knight, etc.). The short-lived Los Angeles band was clearly influenced by the likes of Cream and Vanilla Fudge and featured backing vocals from Motown/Northern Soul heroine Brenda Holloway, a clear sign of their eccentric vision.

Void's 68th release Skyeros are from the St. Louis area and the album was recorded at Golden Voice Studios, which is in Pekin, Illinois (near Peoria). The studio is not a stranger to fans of the Midwest progressive crowd, as it's where Pentwater, Starcastle (first album) and Styx ('Man Of Miracles') laid down their recordings. St. Louis based rock group Head East also recorded there. Musically it is progressive melodic rock with great playing and vocals. Originals now fetch $1000 so here's a legit 350 press reissue with insert on black vinyl. This reissue is taken from the master and cover is exact to original.

In 1973, the legendary Missouri folk-psych band Phantasia changed both its name and musical direction. With an expanded line-up, Trizo 50 careened madly between power pop, glam, psychedelia, proto-metal, pre-punk, hard rock, soft rock and garage. (Hah - yes, there certainly are a lot of different genre categories touched on by Trizo 50 - and all worth hearing!). Recorded in a small rural town of just 900 people, the 100 copies of their demo album quickly sank into obscurity, only re-emerging decades later on the collectors market, now fetching well more than $1,000 per copy. Fifty years later, Trizo 50 band member Bob DePugh has re-mixed and re-mastered the original demo album from the original 4-track tapes for a private press, limited edition run of just 200 copies - as well as an equally limited 3xCD set that includes virtually all of the band's recorded output. Recent reviews of the soon-to-be collectible release reference bands as diverse as T. Rex, Raspberries, Zombies, Big Star, The Beach Boys and Nazz. And we have to say, all of those references make sense. Straddling the 1960 and 1970s, these Trizo 50 releases are a testament both to how small town boys can absorb and reflect music from far beyond their world, and the hard reality behind the promise of rock and roll in America. An experimental dive into aquatic and industrial rhythms, this is the original soundscape to the highly-successful, immersive installation 'It's Always Ourselves We Find In The Sea' (premiere at The Saatchi Gallery) composed for 3D ambisonic sound by Martyn Ware (Heaven 17, B.E.F., ex-The Human League), Charles Stooke, and Gabriel Ware. Produced by Illustrious (Martyn Ware and Vince Clark of Erasure), with environmental and immersive design by Oscar Blustin and Anna Söderblom, the installation invites visitors into a contemplative space; a quiet, peaceful temple to water, within which the soundscape exists. Listeners enter and explore the space in their own time, letting the sounds wash over them, experiencing the stories and musical motifs as they build and gather then subside like the tide. Taking a cue both from UNESCO's Ocean Literacy initiative and the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 14 - 'Life Below Water' - 'It's Always Ourselves We Find In The Sea' offers visitors an opportunity to consider their relationship with water, and to step back out into the world with an altered perspective on its value and cultural significance. The soundscape is a looping experience, divided into two parts: 'Part One - A Call To Water': This section explores our human relationship with anthropomorphised Water - throughout the history of our species and all across the globe, humankind has petitioned the deities of the sky and the sea for the benediction of rain and for deliverance from natural disasters. 'Part Two - The Water Circle': Water is crucial for all life on earth to exist and thrive. In this part, we witness the storm's deluge on the land, water cascading in streams, then rivers and finally to the sea. The beauty and mystery of the oceans culminates in the process of evaporation and the creation of clouds, which continue the eternal cycle of water.
