The buzz about The Crystal Teardrop that has been growing for the past two years looks set to reach fever pitch with the release of their debut album '...Is Forming.' Featuring a dozen memorable compositions by the band's Alexandra Rose and Leon Jones, the album more than lives up to the promise of their 2024 single releases and their ecstatic live performances on stages across the UK and Europe. The band formed in Stoke-on-Trent in early 2023, "inspired," explains Alexandra Rose, "by a mutual passion for the sights, sounds and creative experimentation of the late 1960s." In addition to Alexandra on lead vocals on guitar, the band comprises Leon Jones (guitar, sitar), Stuart Gray (keyboards, Mellotron), Ed Quigley (bass, vocals), and Huw Woodward (drums, percussion). Intuitively blending elements of garage rock, folk-rock, power pop and psychedelia, the band have created an appealing concoction infused with their own perspectives and personalities. To best capture their sound, they recorded at an all-analogue facility, Tilehouse studio in North London, working closely with White Stripes producer Liam Watson of Toe Rag Studios fame.

'Kinks Kinkdom' is a studio album by the English rock band Kinks, which is considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. Kinks' music drew from a wide range of influences, initially including American R&B and rock and roll. Indeed, the album was released and published in the United States and Canada in 1965, and it had quite no direct analogue outside of the North American market. The Side A first track is 'A Well Respected Man' - one of Kinks' most successful and best remembered song. Originally released in the United Kingdom on the EP 'Kwyet Kinks' in September 1965, this song served as an important step for the band in pivoting from raucous rock and roll to Anglocentric character studies. Indeed, it appears on the album cover.

NUCLEUS - LIVE AT THE BBC 1970
Established by trumpeter and future Miles Davis biographer Ian Carr, Nucleus has been a distinctly British jazz-rock group forged in London at the end of the '60s, which continued in different forms until early '90s. In those years, the group realized a torrent of concerts and live recordings for the BBC. This album presents their live session in 1970. In the same year - the group's first year - Nucleus caused a sensation at both the Montreux and Newport jazz festivals and recorded two albums. The first one, titled 'Elastic Rock,' is considered a pioneering work in the emerging genre of jazz-fusion and thanks to some of its compositions, Nucleus won the first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival in July 1970. Therefore, this album contains many of them, such as 'Elastic Rock' (two versions opening and closing the album), '1916: The Battle Of Boogaloo,' 'Stonescape' and 'Twisted Track.'

Here you are blessed with 2 tracks of comic devotion - a nuclear blast of motor city acid-punk, Japanese-style skree and throb, synth punk, no-prog, and freek funk displaying all the gnarly heaviness that PCS have long made all their own. Hereby joined by American visual artist and musician Mac Blackout blowing on the saxophone to add to the cacophony/symphony of sound ala Monoshock-meets-Comets post-Stoogedom spaced ritual-rock opus. The buzz about The Crystal Teardrop that has been growing for the past two years looks set to reach fever pitch with the release of their debut album '...Is Forming.' Featuring a dozen memorable compositions by the band's Alexandra Rose and Leon Jones, the album more than lives up to the promise of their 2024 single releases and their ecstatic live performances on stages across the UK and Europe. The band formed in Stoke-on-Trent in early 2023, "inspired," explains Alexandra Rose, "by a mutual passion for the sights, sounds and creative experimentation of the late 1960s." In addition to Alexandra on lead vocals on guitar, the band comprises Leon Jones (guitar, sitar), Stuart Gray (keyboards, Mellotron), Ed Quigley (bass, vocals), and Huw Woodward (drums, percussion). Intuitively blending elements of garage rock, folk-rock, power pop and psychedelia, the band have created an appealing concoction infused with their own perspectives and personalities. To best capture their sound, they recorded at an all-analogue facility, Tilehouse studio in North London, working closely with White Stripes producer Liam Watson of Toe Rag Studios fame.

Originally formed in 2017, under a different name and lineup, the 5-piece went through several changes over the following years. As the band transitioned from their early progressive death metal sound, their music evolved into a more experimental and atmospheric style, blending a diverse array of influences and genres. Informed by '90s post-metal/indie, they couple art-rock density with classic '70s "grandeur"! 'In Limbo Pt. 1' is complex yet crispy, with distinct, interlocking melodies over a cinematic ambience. The album was recorded at both Backstage and Brain Drain Studios, mixed by John Vulgaris at Electric Highway Studios and mastered by Theodoros Bournas at Arkadikon Studio. One session, 1969, at the very peak of British jazz invention and sound. This album is brilliant and addictive in so many ways. It really does not get better. Miss this at your peril.

A furious 18-minute raid occupies the first side of this 1967 album, where Archie Shepp (tenor sax) is surrounded by Reginald Workman on double bass and five percussionists: Beaver Harris, Norman Connor, Eddie Blackwell, Frank Charles and Dennis Charles. Even if Shepp never loses the initial energy, the rest of the music on 'The Magic Of Ju-Ju' has slightly less frenetic atmospheres; it is a departure from the first track, gradually sitting in a more traditional realm, with the addition of Martin Banks (trumpet and flugelhorn) and Mike Zwerin (trombone and trumpet). The album is a valuable snapshot in time, highlighting Archie Shepp's contribution to the space of spiritual and free jazz. A masterpiece that absolutely deserves to be rediscovered.
