Across their previous seven releases the Nanaimo, BC Canada-based instrumental duo Anunnaki have explored such intriguing sources of inspiration as Hermeticism, Japanese UFO folklore, and beckoning the Apocalypse. These topics considered, it will surprise few that on their EP 'Martyr Of Alexandria', the bicephalic psych-drone-rock powerhouse have turned their exploratory gaze to specific events that occurred in 5th century Alexandria. Indeed, having named themselves for mythological Sumerian deities, Dave Read (Moths & Locusts) and Arlen Thompson (Wolf Parade) suggest an intent to operate as wide-eyed sonic archeologists on a quest for truths both musical and spiritual, and as such are delving deeper and deeper into their historical fascinations with each successive release. With three brain-melting tracks occupying 30 minutes, on 'Martyr Of Alexandria; Read (basses/guitars/synths/effects) and Thompson (drums/synths/samples) have crafted a visceral aural tapestry examining the harrowing demise of Hypatia, a pagan philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician known in her day as a teacher possessed of great wisdom. As a victim of accusatory rumours emanating from a complex religiopolitical situation at a violent time in history, Hypatia was martyred following her brutal end at the hands of an incited, rabid Christian mob in 415 AD: 1,606 years on, Anunnaki pay tribute.

In October 2023, Greek label Anazitisi Records celebrates 20 years as a record label, so they proudly present the official release of the previously unissued album by Ashhollow. The band formed in 1973 in Oklahoma USA. After some personnel changes they took their final form in 1975 with Bill Kirtley: vocals, guitar, Mike Stewart: vocals, guitar, Mike Hanna: vocals, bass and Gary Bruce: drums. They played locally in clubs and concerts and had their own compositions written by all 4 members. Besides the original material (most of it, is presented here) they played a variety of covers by bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, CSN&Y, Kansas etc. Their music is ranged between hard rock with many psych underground vibes and
progressive rock with jazzy overtones. Wishbone Ash, Primevil, Majic Ship, Hard Meat, even quieter and less polished Ashbury come in mind... This album was made from an original reel-to-reel tape, recorded on January 30, 1976. All live in the studio with no overdubs. The tape contains 11 songs in total but Anazitisi used only the 9 of them because of vinyl limitations. Soon after the recordings, Ashhollow came to a halt. Includes fully laminated cover and 4-pages (LP-sized) coloured insert with bio, photos, lyrics and memorabilia.
Limited to 200 black copies, 180gr vinyl as usual.

In December 1976, Carpe Diem entered whacked-out recording wizard Jean-Pierre Massiera's Azurville studio and recorded - on 16-tracks - and in just ten days - working sometimes from ten in the morning until three the following morning - all the material they'd written since their first album. The trademark Carpe Diem sound is here in full force: cosmic synthesizers, psychedelic-flavored guitar-led flights of fancy, fluid woodwinds, along with an astounding degree of harmonic sophistication. The highlight is the 21-plus minute suite, 'Couleurs,' which develops through a series of sublime melodic motifs. As should be expected, the musicianship is monstrous, the playing is tight and energetic, and the melodies veer from gorgeous to haunting. The remainder of the album is taken up by short tracks which present more concise takes on Carpe Diem's ideas. This vinyl reissue includes a fascinating bonus track: an excerpt from the never-released English language version of the album. DDT - SWEAT OF THE SUN
'Sweat Of The Sun' is the third album by DDT, the experimental project formed by members of Carlton Melton and White Manna. Like with their previous records, this album was recorded at 3D Light in Northern California where tracks evolved from several jam sessions and improvisations with steel and electric guitars, synthesisers, bass and double drums. Unlike their previous release, 2021's 'Freshwater,' which saw more members joining in with various parts and overdubs, 'Sweat Of The Sun' sees DDT paired down to just the core members, Anthony Taibi and Andy Duvall, with a looser, more laid back feel. The band has dedicated 'Sweat Of The Sun' to the memory of Anders Bröstrom, AKA Domboshawa, who sadly passed away at the end of 2023. It was Andy Duvall from the band who introduced the label to Anders' music and started a relationship spanning six releases on Drone Rock Records. This album is a perfect tribute to a wonderful, kind and extremely talented man. 'Sweat Of The Sun' is a super limited pressing of just 250 copies on 'Psychedelic Sun" coloured vinyl with the cover art giving a knowing nod to an iconic LP by the 13th Floor Elevators.

This album is an interpretation of the different stages that constitute the death of a supernova, as well as the hypothesis of the heat death of the universe. Both of these hypothesis stem from the second law of thermodynamics, which states that entropy tends to increase in an isolated system. If this system lasts enough, eventually energy would evenly dissipate, cooling it off. Compared to the previous album, 'Entropy Death' constitutes a more hardcore punk approach to kraut rock, along with a few other unorthodox rhythmic sections that give the album a singular yet original grit. 'Entropy Death' was composed, arranged and recorded at home with the help of Gustavo Jimenez on drums and Sergio Florean on electric guitar.
'Entropy Death' is De la Mora's 2nd solo album. Emitting from
Guadalajara, De la Mora's endeavour is to create futuristic landscapes that could be played in alien surgery rooms, spaceship pursuits, Martian extreme sports events, et al.
These compositions are being presented live as a group named El Nuevo Conjunto Musical de Fabriccio de la Mora (the new musical group of Fabriccio de la Mora), that includes the support of
the artists Gustavo Jimenez, Sergio Florean, Erick A. Torres, Alberto Ortiz, and Fausto Arellano. Limited to 250 copies on orange vinyl.

Born in 2012 when the three were living in the same apartment building in Cairo's Agouza district, the trio's instrumental improvisation-based
explorations are propelled by Louca's North African percussion loops and shimmering keys, Shalabi's West African tinged free jazz guitar and grounded by Bishop's driving krautrock-style
acoustic bass. 'High Tide In The Lowlands' was recorded in Brussels at Les Ateliers Claus on September 5, 2017 and is quite an intense experience. Most performances and recording sessions are improvised and this set is no different and even though the group opened the show with 'Baka Of The Future' from their first album 'Bes,' it is almost unrecognizable and everything the trio plays is continually morphing into the next unknown idea. As the sound, energy, and instantaneous composition flows, the trance is growing and growing, ranging from raw shapeshifting "no (un)wave," free jazz, traditional Arabic and modern experimental explorations to a concrete mystic trip from an universe expanding and contracting constantly. This is earth interrogating the sky, the sky rejoining the earth, an unknown and unwritten cosmogony.

A beautifully fragile folk/soft rock daydream recorded in 1971 and unreleased until now. Flight was formed in 1971 in the Michigan town of Grayling by Phil Stancil and Doug Slater. The two teenagers, with no formal musical training, sat down for a year to explore a shared sense of vulnerability, and newfound freedom in expressing an emotional openness rarely seen in young American men at the time. What resulted was an 8-track LP, recorded over two days in two separate studios. Aside from one single release, 'I'm Coming Home' would wait for a full half-century to be released. This recently uncovered and restored music provides a unique glimpse into the world that was 1971 America: a time when young men felt emboldened to abandon machismo and explore the feelings of heartbreak, longing, alienation, and love in music.

Hawk's music on this epochal album is a fusion of tribal African rhythms with acoustic hippie music elements - long solo jams, saxophone breaks, percussion - sounding at times like an African version of Embryo fronted by Tim Buckley! In Johannesburg, bursting, like Durban, with musicians aeons ahead of their time, Hawk added the sunburnt, brown prairies of Africa to the genre of the concept album - the heady, steady beat of drums, and enough cross-rhythms to make you dizzy. Add the mesmerizing voices - and the telling of a story. Tuck in the ranging flute, the saxophone. The deep bass buzz. And the hypnotic talking drums. Music the African way: earthy stuff - virile, extraordinary, substantial. Hawk were listening to a lot of Hugh Tracey tapes (the Afro-musicologist who travelled Africa capturing sounds and music on tape for posterity). "The Lost Souls never released any records, yet the meager recorded evidence that survives indicates that they were one of the finest unknown American groups of the mid-'60s, able to write both catchy British Invasion-type rockers and, in their latter days, experimental psychedelic pieces with unusual tempo changes and song structures. The band were also unusual in their occasional embellishment of the typical period guitar-bass-drums lineup with flute, sax, and mandolin. Although popular in their Cleveland hometown, they broke up in 1968 to attend college. Rhythm guitarist Denny Carleton, who wrote and sang some of their best material, went on to briefly join The Choir, their chief (and more successful) rivals." ~Richie Unterberger. The music scene in Cleveland in the mid to late 1960's was ripe with talent: the James Gang with Joe Walsh and Glenn Schwartz, The Choir, Eric Carmen (pre-Raspberries), Glass Harp with Phil Keaggy, the Damnation of Adam Blessing... and the Lost Souls. Of all those bands, only the Lost Souls never released a record. Then again, they were in high school, trying to navigate dress codes and bullies - and playing in front of a couple thousand fans when not suspended. Sure, they lost a battle of the bands at Teen Fair 1968, but it was to the James Gang with Joe Walsh. And somehow it is the Lost Souls who emerge from that time and place with the greatest mystique and some of the most adventurous music, music which few have heard. Lost Souls main songwriter Denny Carleton released a cassette of the band's original recordings in 1984. It received airplay on hundreds of college and public radio stations in the USA (and around the world), and garnered glowing reviews... and that was it, until now. Not only is this the first time the music of the Lost Souls has been available since that cassette, the Lion Productions edition is the first release for many additional Lost Souls cuts, including alternate versions of key tracks like the insightful 'Things That Are Important' and 'I'm Falling' (the closest to a hit the band ever had), all taken from the original tapes and carefully mastered. Seven bonus tracks highlight the work of Lost Souls' main songwriter Denny Carleton (one-time member of The Choir, and more surprisingly, punk legends the Pagans); selections by The Choir, Moses, Milk and Carleton, many in all possible low-fi glory, recorded on various 4-track devices, ranging from power-pop to grimy garage. 'Les Idoles' is a mythical record of sixties psyche rock prefiguring punk. A work which in style had no equivalent in France at the time. Thanks to the performance of the Rollsticks, a rock band created from scratch with musicians from different musical worlds, to accompany the erratic vocalizations of actors Pierre Clémenti, Bulle Ogier and Jean Pierre Kalfon. The band consists of Patrick Greussay (who became part of Calcium) on the drums and guitars, Stephane Vilar (who became part of Calcium, PLVG), Didier Léon (future accomplice of Barney Wilen), Didier Malherbe (who became part of Gong and Clearlight amongst other bands), Jacques Zins (who became part of Calcium) and with the participation of Yvan Julien (jazzman composer trumpeter and conductor) and Michel Portal (jazzman composer and saxophonist). The recording of this album is different from the album 'Les Idoles' published in 1967 under the reference CBS 62812, recorded in June 1966 in Barclay studios. The record company needed to make the record when the film was released to have the music recorded six months in advance, as it was practiced at the time. The unreleased recording offered today was made during the shooting of the film, in 1967 at the Davout Studio to use in the film.
During these sessions, the musicians really knew the repertoire inside out and the music is more intense, more powerful, which makes it very interesting. Made from master tapes found in the archives, this new album with the exception of 'Et Floc C'est La Tasse' and 'Chanson De L'Archevêque,' dispensable titles whose tapes have been definitively lost, includes practically the same titles as the 1967 album, but in different interpretations to which unreleased instrumentals have been added.

A kaleidoscope of beautifully sung, intense, impressionistic, self-composed songs. Some simply backed by his stunning guitar work, others with full chamber folk-rock backing. Heavily symbolic lyrics and deceptively sweet music, much of the imagery seems to anticipate his tragic early death, in his sleep, aged 19, just weeks before he graduated. Obvious comparisons can be made to Nick Drake and even Tim Buckley, but perhaps more sharply to early Al Stewart and with a strong resonance of Village Thing artists, especially Dave Evans' two classic LPs. Timeless, sharp, wistful and eccentric. A miracle this has survived. Fully laminated sleeve, NO BARCODE, features inner with full lyrics and insert with memories from his brother, designed by the immortal Bobby Blisters. Mastered by Reynolds Mastering, the kings of reconstruction and pressed on the old EMI presses by Vinyl Factory for maximum quality. As always pressing run limited to 227.

In the three years since the last vinyl release by Ukrainian psych act Sex Blender, a hell of a lot has happened to the band and their country. The invasion of Ukraine has been a waking nightmare for the whole country leading to ordinary citizens taking up arms to defend their homeland in the war they never thought they would be fighting. In fact, Yurko, the band's guitarist, volunteered to help in his country's defence effort and has been on the frontline in the East of Ukraine pretty much since war broke out. It is a position he really shouldn't be in and one that most of us couldn't even imagine. As for the record itself, it is live album recorded back in the summer of 2021 featuring music from their two vinyl albums released previously on DRR ('Hormonizer' released in 2019 and 'The Second Coming' from 2020) plus a new track. The band describe the record and the time in which the tracks were played and recorded as: -"Summer '21 was full of joy and good vibes which we have recorded and captured forever on this live album. This record is a reminder of a happier, peaceful time that will we hopefully return back to soon. A massive thank you to all the brave soldiers and citizens of our homeland, Ukraine. Our thoughts are especially with our guitarist, Yurko, who is fighting on the frontline." This live Sex Blender album will be a limited pressing of 250 copies pressed on blue and yellow split coloured vinyl matching the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Albinö Rhino are a psychedelic doom rock trio from Helsinki, Finland. The band has released 2 albums and various EPs over the years. They recorded this amazing 35 minutes continuous piece after jamming it at the practice room mostly improvised for years, in between the heavier pieces that Albinö Rhino is known for and jumped to the studio when the arrangement felt right. One of the parts is written just one day before entering the beautiful Suomenlinnan Studio with the talented sound wizard Ilari Larjosto. The album was recorded live in one day with some additional overdubs recorded later at Helsinki Music Studio, where the album was also mixed. The opus was mastered at Virtalähde Mastering. Dr Space, Olli Laamanen and Mikko Heikinpoika added their magic when the core was built. The title of this album -originally released in 1974- means 'The Creation' and Serbian singer Maja De Rado together with her band create a very dreamy and colorful kind of music that merges different pop styles of their time with a folky approach. This album could have easily emerged from the late 1960s West Coast scene of the USA except for having lyrics in the musician's native tongue. The lush instrumentation with organs, flutes, acoustic guitars builds a multi layered fruitful soil on which the rich vocal melodies can grow to an enormous size. Maja and her male counterpart join together on most of the songs and deeply touch your soul with their heartily performance. It is the scent of a deep desire the elements of Serbian folk add to the dreamy and laid back late 60s pop sound which increase the emotional force of this album. This is music for people who love the solo stuff by Sonja Kristina (CURVED AIR) or the BRIAN AUGER TRINITY feat. Julie Driscoll, just with that already mentioned Serbian folk flavor. Amazing, enchanting and purely magical.

With San Diego still reeling from ELP's performance there two days earlier, the Hollywood Bowl would soon feel the same when the trio headlined there on the 19th July 1971 with support
from Humble Pie and Edgar Winter's White Trash. The concert
was still heavily focused on the band's 1970 debut, but there was a wholly different energy and vitality to their previous US shows in April with 'Tarkus' beginning to shape their formidable legacy. London Calling revisits a classic, vintage performance from the grand masters of progressive rock in their iconic heyday. Presented with background notes and timeline photos, 'Hollywood Bowl 1971' features a carefully restored and professionally remastered original KMET-FM broadcast.

GWYDION - THE FAERIE SHAMAN
Gwydion Pendderwen is one of the more chatoyant figures of the folk music underground and it is a shame actually that we have to label his works underground for what he laid down on both of his albums 'Songs For The Old Religion' (1975) and 'The Faerie Shaman' (1982). It was far above the average standard folk of his time, especially on this, his second album from 1982. The confessing neo paganist and environmentalist tried a different path seven years after his rather haunting debut album by mixing bluegrass, country, gospel and dixie into the classic folky singer/songwriter tunes of enchanting beauty. Most of the time the atmosphere on this album is rather friendly and lightweight in the sense of bright melodies and a cheerful mood on most tunes. Just take a walk in spirit through the garden of sound created by the delicate arrangements and rich, mostly acoustic instrumentation. Will you ever wish to return to what people consider as reality? I would doubt that. This album breathes a flamy joy of life and you would not think it was shortly after that Gwydion Pendderwen lost his life in a car accident. The music presented on 'The Faerie Shaman' literally swallows you like a river and you may ride like a Valkyrie upon the raging waters or dive deep inside and be enchanted by the magic world beyond the surface. This should have been a classic and it is a real gem for fans of Planxty, Hamish Imlach, Dulcimer, Pentangle and Steeleye Span.

PATHS OF PRAKRITI are founded in the beginning of the summer 2006 in Trondheim, Norway. Basically AXIS MUNDI is the work of Jon Reier Sylte between 2009 and 2011. Jon has written all the songs, produced and recorded them, and is responsible for most of the vocals and instruments. The instrumentation of as a trio working PATHS OF PRAKRITI varies and depends on the song.The ghost of the 60s is prevalent and the recording technique sounds knowingly as if this album is straight out of that time. Bewitching arranged songs with great attention to detail and ecstasizeing gimmicks which never get lost, but are always placed carefully at the right moments, complete the songs artistically. A lovely positive and refreshing slow-going, partially even salving album, with which it is possible to have a pleasant rest from the daily routine. It is not only an album which is perfect for active listening, where there is so much to discover, but also exciting inspiring. PATHS OF PRAKRITI's 'AXIS MUNDI' is different and in spite of its musically catenations to the past it is extremely up to date. Even more it is an album of which we need many more these days. Gentle garage psych with a dreamy west coast flair and tons of awesome fuzzed out guitars with lyrics in Korean language. It clearly sounds like the best psychedelic power pop and garage stuff you could get in the UK and USA ten years earlier, a typical 1966 garage sound with fuzzy axes and some thin but sympathetic Farfisa organs. They released this debut album back in 1977 while the compositions actually have been conceived from 1971 to 1975. They heavily remind of The Zombies. Even though San Ul Lim play in a way more direct fashion, they do have these heartwarming vocal melodies and are all in all gifted players. Other acts we could take as references are The Flies (UK, Pre-T2) or The Petards (Germany). A lovely flashback to the golden age of music..

This particular talent show was held at a church and it features children from the parish and residents from several nearby nursing homes. There are plenty of missed notes and false starts, with a piano accompanist soldiering on through it all. But, more importantly, there are genuine human interactions and honest impromptu moments galore. These are heartfelt performances by people who could be your neighbors, if you're lucky. Tapes of this event have circulated in underground circles since it was recorded in 1981. For several years now, no less a performer than Jad Fair has been doing his own acappella "cover" of Jack Mudurian's medley from the show.
