Agnus formed in 1973 in Santa Fe, Argentina, but it wasn't until 1980 that they managed to release their sole magnus opus 'Pinturas Y Expresiones,' the most expensive (3k) prog album that was ever released in Argentina. This is a unique blend of symphonic prog with 2 faces, equally split between the 2 sides, one with a folky edge, punctuated by aethereal pastoral vocals in an intimate dialogue with flute and violin, and another packed with wandering psychedelic guitars and side-effects. Picture Rennaissance in an interminable jam with MIA and Catharsis with Bacamarte and you might start to get a feel for this one-of-a-kind artefact. Rubinho e Mauro Assumpçao's 'Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei' has to be up there as one of the finest Brazilian-psych-folk-MPB records. Unfortunately, it's very hard to find in the wild; even on digging trips to Brazil, an original copy rarely shows up, and when it does, it comes with a hefty price tag. This highly sought-after rarity was released on the Brazilian label Tapecar Records in 1972 and is the one and only album by the sensational pairing of Rubinho and Mauro Assumpçao. Effortlessly blending folk, MPB, funky-psych, rock, and relaxed, swaggering samba, this record ought to be heralded as a true Brazilian classic. However, maybe due to its scarcity and the previous reissue predominantly being only available to the Brazilian market, it has not had a chance to fully shine and find the wider audience it deserves. Through Mr Bongo's reissue they hope to put things right. Fans of records by Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges are sure to enjoy the same magic and allure in 'Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei.' In addition to being the album's songwriters, Mauro Assumpçao took on the role of producer and Rubinho was co-producer as well as playing piano, organ, acoustic guitar and performing vocals. The record features the drummer Gegê who worked with Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, Nana Caymmi, Dom Um Romao and more. It also features guitarist Rick Ferreira, who played with Erasmo Carlos, Gal Costa and other greats. Rounding off the players on the album are Darcy Da Cruz and Formiga who have graced many a fine recording on horns. A renewed alliance between East and West within a boundless rock concept can be defined as the quest of the three young musicians from Sao Paulo, who are heavily inspired by the sounds and general aesthetics of the early 1970s. This is the first official re-release of Paul Brett's Sage's third album, originally released 1972 on Dawn, under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. This album holds a special place with its solid production and melting of styles that range into rock, acid folkrock and blues with hints of flamenco and classic guitar thanks to Paul Brett's 6- and 12-string guitars. This final studio album from Paul Brett's Sage took on a more electric tone with Brett's wonderful guitar playing, additional electric guitar playing by Stuart Cowel of Titus Groan fame, and a solid supporting cast, a.o. Dave Lambert (Strawbs) on keys and great song selection, which still place this record above most of their contemporaries. The musicianship on this album is impeccable, the songwriting creative and engaging, and most of the songs combine tight guitar work with catchy rhythms. 'Custom Angel Man' and 'Slow Down Ma' are model examples of guitar oriented psych with strong vocals from Brett. Side 2 is more acoustically oriented, with 'Take Me Back And I Will Leave You' being the most progressive track. 'Tale Of A Rainy Night' and 'Autumn' are also fine predominantly unplugged tunes. The album comes with 4-sided insert with story, all lyrics, photos and other memorabilias. Bonus track 'Dahlia' is from an 7" in 1972. This is one of Long Hair's favorites. The solo album of Naxatras' lead guitarist is an exercise in trippy urban sounds with a vocal and guitar driven easy-going melodic vibe. In the long documented history of artist's solo works, half the required information in order to understand the project in its entirety lies in the background. John Delias has been channelling his creative energy in Naxatras, the highly successful psychedelic rock band from Greece, as a founding member, lead guitarist and vocalist. Nearly a decade in existence, Naxatras have accomplished a number of breakthroughs in the global heavy rock underground scene, arguably the most important being the consolidation of a unique, personal sound with their 3 full length albums and the build-up of an international solid fan base through constant touring. Between recording and performing in a full professional pace and level, a rather different kind of tunes and echoes found its way in John's psyche and the need to be seen through was inescapable. Since 2017, the songs of 'Intangible Reality' have been taking form, drawing inspiration from the 1960s and 1970s groove music, across genres. GARDEN OF WORM - ENDLESS GARDEN
'Endless Garden' is the third album from Garden Of Worm. Having released their eponymous debut slab of doom metal under Shadow Kingdom Records in 2010 and having taken their sonic palette into a trajectory of their own on the 2015 sophomore album 'Idle Stones' (Svart Records), third album 'Endless Garden' arrives after another long pause after its predecessor. Six years in the making, their third album once again sees the band through different eyes than their previous two full-length efforts. The on-and-off process really took flight in 2018 when they recruited Antti Korpinen as their second guitarist. Around the same time, JM Suvanto decided to step down as the drummer and left the band a three-piece once again with Erno Taipale now doubling as both drummer and lead guitarist. Lead vocals and bass remained in the steady hands of Sami Harju. Having known each other for more than 20 years, the trio was on the same page from day one. Their goal was to create a solid and timeless rock album that was more ambitious and adventurous than its two predecessors. An album that stood tall, feet firmly in the muddy earth and hands reaching towards the sky.
Recorded with the help of another longtime friend Tommi Lind and mixed by themselves between 2019-2021, 'Endless Garden' opens wide into spheres of rock, psych, improv and prog - and beyond. From their first split 7" release (with Lilydamwhite) in 1998 to their much lauded 'Sessions 2' freakout 12" from 2002. All compiled here in their remastered glory, The Heads we quite prolific back in the late '90s/early '00s, and in between the 'Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere' album and 'Undersided' album they released their jams and raw rehearsals via the burgeoning Rocket Label. Compiled here with extensive sleeve notes from Rocket founder Simon Healey, this limited 3LP set captures the band at their most laconic and free. With its mekanik beats, sci-fi synthesizers, driving rhythms, post-apocalyptic visions, and epic but crackling soundscapes, this debut record takes us back to an alternative future, as envisioned from the 1970s. Taking a cue from French sci-fi 'Heavy Metal', the magazine, not the music, this record sketches a dystopian and apocalyptic world of tomorrow, where your information is sold for profit, the environment has been run into the ground, and the only safe place is being locked indoors. Musically (the album is mostly instrumental), shades of the Hawkwind of 'Silver Machine', the Kraftwerk of 'Man Machine' or the Neu of 'E-Musik' may spring to mind. Test audiences also said parts reminded them of Tangerine Dream, Heldon (mainly 'Heldon IV - Agneta Nilsson'), Conrad Schnitzler, Cluster, and Michael Bundt. No, the band didn't know all those names, either. Anyway, it's a bit like stumbling upon an unreleased Brain album and a working record player in a warm and dry bunker... it will keep you company while acid rain and atom bombs are pouring down and the mutant epidemic rages on outside. The respected Japanese jazz drummer Akira Ishikawa was not messing around when he recorded the 'Uganda (Dawn Of Rock)' album with his band the Count Buffaloes. For this offering, originally released in 1972 on Toshiba Records, Akira Ishikawa takes us on a deep tripped-out journey. 'Uganda (Dawn Of Rock)' is a fusion of progressive and psych rock with African percussion workouts, dergy-wah wah blues-funk, and jazzy sensibilities; with different genres morphing and uniting as they progress. A long way from his funk and Afrobeat album 'Back To Rhythm,' reissued on Mr Bongo in 2019, this record has a darker, deeper, abstract and experimental stoned tone with the listener being pulled into its vortex for the ride. This record doesn't pull any punches. For this album, Akira is joined by Hideaki Chihara on bass, guitarist Kimio Mizutani, sounding at times like an early '70s Peter Green, percussionist Larry Sunaga and composer Takeru Muraoka. The album has become highly sought-after amongst psych, prog and acid rock collectors and due to the rare nature of original copies they come at a hefty price tag. Repress! The fifth studio album and last euphoric mind-trip to Kikagaku Moyo's imagined island. Best-suited for counting stars, looking at the ocean, and dancing in one's daydream. In many ways 'Kumoyo Island' represents the culmination of a journey for Kikagaku Moyo. While their decade-long career can be summarized as a series of kaleidoscopic explorations through lands and dimensions far and near, there's a strong intention in each of their works to take the listener to a particular place, however real or abstract they may be. In that sense, the title and cover art for the band's fifth and final album draws you into a magical mass of land surrounded by water... but the couch suggests that 'Kumoyo Island'may not be a fleeting stop, but rather a place of respite, where one could pause and take it all in. Reconvening at Tsubame Studios in Asakusabashi, Tokyo, where their earliest material had been recorded, the five members of Kikagaku Moyo found new inspiration in a familiar and comfortable environment. With their adopted homebase of Amsterdam under lockdown and their touring activities halted due to the pandemic, the band felt a renewed sense of freedom being back in Shitamachi, or the old downtown area of their hometown. With unrestricted time in the studio, they began to build upon the demos and song fragments they'd amassed since their last tour. In the 1.5 months spent in Tokyo, everything started to come together. 'Monaka,' its name taken from a type of Japanese wafer sweets, takes melodic inspiration from traditional minyofolk styles, while 'Yayoi Iyayoi' is a rare instance of the band singing in their native tongue, its evocative lyrics utilizing archaic words taken from old poetry and nature books found in one of the many second-hand bookstores of Tokyo. For 'Meu Mar,' an Erasmos Carlos cover, the original Portuguese lyrics were translated into English, then to Japanese. Strangely enough, the words seem to conjure an image of the protagonist floating among the clouds, looking down upon Tokyo Bay. In fact, it may be possible to draw a parallel between the topography of the band's home country... an island nation, surrounded by bodies of water... and the mysterious isle of Kumoyo. Are they one and the same? Has the band finally made it back home? It's up to the listener to decide..

This is an official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1969 on Pye records. Man are a rock band from Wales whose style is a mixture of American West Coast psychedelia, progressive rock, and blues. As most of you know Man have an enormous back catalogue with a big list of albums that proved that they are one of the greatest bands to emerge from Wales and the UK. Still active today after countless line-up changes they are still part of the psychedelic, progressive jam rock scene. Let's go back to September 1969 when '2 Ozs Of Plastic...' was released on Pye Records (home of The Kinks). The band's second album is a vast improvement from their debut album 'Revelation'. Still heavily influenced by their west coast psych peers, the performances have tightened and great experimental ideas were flowing. The LP starts with the magnificent 'Prelude/The Storm', which lasts for over 12 minutes. A really unusual piece to kick off an album with, but it works. It's so full of atmosphere from all musicians. Crashing cymbals, a wall of noise from the Hammond and unusual sounds from Deke Leonard on guitar, making convincing seagull noises. The whole track emulates a storm perfectly as the title would suggest. Things continue to build towards a seemingly limitless crescendo before easing off to an altogether more relaxing, almost ambient phase. As we move into 'It Is As It Must Be' (originally to be titled 'Shit On The World' till the record company took fright), we begin to uncover what would become the essence of the band. Here we have a heavy, bluesy guitar driven riff laden number with the first vocals of the album. Apart from that brief vocal excursion, the track is primarily an elongated jam featuring lead guitar and harmonica. Other highlights include 'Spunk Box' (known as 'Spunk Rock' to the band and fans). A killer riff opens the first track on side two followed by some dirty sounding vocals to follow. This has remained in their live set and has been jammed to a jaw dropping length of 30+ minutes! With Man you get a real sense of West Coast US meets Methyr Tydfil (Wales) with an undercurrent of hard rocking trying to break out through the dreamy sounds of the Pacific surf, sort of. 'Spunk Box' is the standout track on this album. It really started to define the Man sound and still deserves great appreciation as one of their best titles ever. It remains though one of Man's signature numbers. 'My Name Is Jesus Smith' is the most commercial track on the album, reverting to the Bystanders light psychedelic pop rock style with pleasant harmonies. Midway through, the song bizarrely transforms into a hoe-down style country piece. 'Parchment And Candles' was reputedly performed on a harpsichord belonging to producer/song writer Tony Hatch, who took exception to the band using it without his permission. The piece itself is a brief reflective instrumental, quite unlike what we have come to expect from Man. The album closes with 'Brother Arnold's Red And White Striped Tent'. Not a particularly memorable track by any means, but fine all the same. 'Two Ozs Of Plastic...' is the album which sees Man starting to find a clear direction, while still experimenting with a few disparate styles. A high enjoyable trip. The album comes with 4 sided cover-sized insert with different German cover, stories and photos. Don't miss this classic item!

Repress! Hailing from the seaside communities surrounding Enoshima, a small island located 50 km southwest of Tokyo, Maya Ongaku is a ragtag collective of local musicians whose brand of earthy psychedelia transcends widely beyond the roots of their inner souls. The name derives not from any kind of ancient civilization, but rather a neologism defined as the imagined view outside one's field of vision. The band -currently a trio of Tsutomu Sonoda, Ryota Takano, and Shoei Ikeda- finds sanctuary at the Ace General Store, a beachy vintage shop and salon-like space just hidden from sight from the bustling, touristy riverside Subana Street. Between discussions on music and art, curating the vinyl section and manning the register, and chatting up with locals young and old, the members find time to jam and record their spontaneous ideas in the studio tucked away in the back. It's in this unlikely setting where Maya Ongaku finds its origins, the culmination of what Sonoda describes as shizen hassei, meaning spontaneous generation, or the supposed production of living organisms from nonliving matter. 'Approach To Anima,' the group's debut album released on Guruguru Brain, finds Maya Ongaku building a foundational groove while tapping into their innermost psyche. Sonoda's malleable guitar and vocals, Takano's sinuous bass lines, Ikeda's floating woodwinds, and a sprinkling of delicate percussion all coalesce into an aural experience that's assertive yet abstract, calm but unsettling. The slow building, sax-laden 'Approach' serves as an introduction to Maya Ongaku's world, while the appropriately-named 'Water Dream' floats its way toward the gentle finale of 'Pillow Song.' It's a concise distillation of their many interests and influences, from Neo-Dada and Fluxus, to where contemporary art intersects with the development of modern recording technology in the '60s and '70s. As the title suggests, 'Approach To Anima' is not intended to be a terminus; it's merely the beginning of an exploration. The three childhood friends that comprise Maya Ongaku are always looking beyond the confines of the idyllic but rapidly gentrifying enclave of their beloved Enoshima. Feeding off of the energy that still radiates from the triumphant, decade-long journey of their label bosses' band Kikagaku Moyo, who rose to global prominence from scrappy beginnings busking on the streets of Takadanobaba, they hope to go wherever inspiration takes them, to anywhere around the globe where their music can find a home. Ultimately, Maya Ongaku's uninhibited world-building will make it possible for us to see the unseen, expand the possibilities of the naked eye... all through the unbridled vibrancy of their music.

"Our new album is filled with a kind of sensibility that wasn't a part of our first one: a desire to get anyone who hears it to get up and dance. We spent 2023 playing a good number of live shows, from touring and playing festivals throughout Europe and Japan. We are a band without a drummer, and we've been using synths and drum machines - jamming along with machines so to speak - to freely rearrange the songs from our debut album. That experience is what motivated us to make this EP. Playing live in front of a crowd allowed our music to go through a gradual transmutation. It instilled us with the desire to make more people dance. The title of the EP is 'Electronic Phantoms.' We are reaching a point where our lives are at the mercy of electronics. With the development of new technologies like AI, it's becoming harder to distinguish between what is real and what is computer-generated. These circumstances can be likened to the appearance of a phantom. The world of virtual reality can also be described as an electronic phantom. What kind of music will result if we take a world lived in by spiritual beings and express it with something diametrically opposite, with sounds generated by machines? That is the main idea behind the creation of this EP. To be deceived by machines, or to have our knowledge overtaken - those ideas don't frighten us. Rather, we'd like to reach a level of understanding with machines. Through jamming along with them. This is the first official reissue on vinyl under courtesy of Cherry Red Records of this highly sought after album, originally released in 1975 on United Artists, UK. Michael Moorcock is an English writer, primarily of science fiction and fantasy, who has also published literary novels. He is also a successful musician, well known for his collaboration with Hawkwind, Robert Calvert and Blue Öyster Cult. His own project is named Michael Moorcock & The Deep Fix. Michael's first performance with the Hawkwind was at The Green, Portobello Road. He also worked with the band on their album 'Warrior On The Edge Of Time,' for which he earned a gold disc. Michael Moorcock & The Deep Fix's 'The New Worlds Fair' included drummer Snowy White and a number of Hawkwind regulars (Dave Brock, Simon King, Simon House) in the credits. A non-album single, 'Starcruiser' coupled with 'Dodgem Dude,' (here included as bonus tracks) was belatedly issued in 1980. 'The New Worlds Fair' seems to be a concept album, a guy known only as Dude goes to the local fair. He sees a cute 16-year-old girl out with her friends, has a go on some of the rides, visits the music tent to watch the band and then gets caught in the middle of a nuclear war. It's a concept album, where Moorcock's lyrics and crowd noises is the red thread binding together a story about "Dude" going to the fair. It's a rather unique experience in many ways, the psychedelic tinged tunes with a distinct '60s flavor to them mixed in with dark and eerie lyrics - and a high level of theatrics in songs as well as the passages read out by Moorcock and slightly rockin' glamrock guitars submit a diverse, engaging offer, with a lot of catchy tunes. This is very much a one-of-a-kind release; worth checking out. Fans of retro psychedelic rock should find this one interesting, as well as fans of Hawkwind. The album comes with 4-sided insert sheet with an exact reproduction of the cover and the inner sleeves, including story and memorabilia. Plus 3 bonus tracks This is a secret tip! Don't miss it.

'MEXICO MAGICO COSMICO, EL OMBLIGO DE LA LUNA' - Following a decade playing in Mexico City's psychedelic rock scene, Luis Perez's early solo work was a mixture of sounds derived from his vast array of pre-Hispanic and ethnographic wind and percussion instruments which he managed to blend with electronic devices including tape delay units, electric guitars and synthesisers. During this time, he was given the name Ixoneztli (or "one who makes music") by the legendary curandera Pachita and her son Enrique, to whom, like Alejandro Jodorowsky before him, Luis served as assistant. In 1981, the Mexican government became very interested Perez's work and sponsored the production of what became the first recording of the fusion of native Mexican instruments with electronics - entitled 'Ipan In Xiktli Metztli', in the Nahuatl language, or 'En El Ombligo De La Luna' in Spanish ('In The Navel Of The Moon'). The impact of this recording and subsequent performances among media, ethnomusicologists and audiences alike established Luis Perez Ixoneztli as a precursor to a new musical genre followed by a generation of young Mexican musicians playing ethno-rock, ethno-jazz, ethno-experimental and the like.

The Polvos! is a psychedelic fuzz rock band formed in the city of Concepción, Chile at the end of November 2017. The band is made up of José Ignacio Mora on guitar and vocals, Francisco Pavez on guitar and synthesizer, Bruno Flores on guitar, Wladimir Rodríguez on bass and Roberto Mora on drums. Since 2018, the group has performed various concerts, highlighting the performances at the Woodstaco festivals, Space Trip Fest and the opening show for the Austrian band Born To Hula, in what was the start of their South American tour. With all the experience of live performances under their arms, The Polvos! entered the Bym Records studio in Santiago to record 'Darkness Emotion', their first full-length album. The recording and mixing was in charge of Ness Rodríguez (The Ganjas, Wild Parade), while the mastering was done by Rodrigo Gomberoff (Familea Miranda) at Hukot Estudios, Barcelona. From that album comes the single 'Elephant', a song inspired by Gus Van Sant's film of the same name and which addresses the student massacre at the Columbine Institute in Colorado, United States. This release of the band comes to crown a season of many important achievements for The Polvos! His music has been featured in various international media and constantly sounded on specialized programs such as Downtown Radio Tucson (Mickmaster's Space Rock Spectacular) in Arizona, USA and Cosmic Fuzz Radio in London, England, among many others.

We neither know what they're doing in heaven, nor do we want to know that in the very religious way that Reverend Washington Phillips does. So the question arises why we -as band Sirkus- recorded four Christian gospel songs. Even though all six of us were raised in a more Christian way, we don't consider ourselves religious. On the other hand, we've often worked with deeply religious or spiritual music like gospel or blues over the years. We are fascinated by their transcendental aspects and by how they portray moment of personal empowerment in times of struggle. Whether in the here and now, materially or metaphysically.
These issues have always been present for us when playing songs such as they are released here on the 12" maxi single. Musically, the tension between our roots in blues and gospel and our previous development towards krautrock, Afro-psychedelica and electronica is reflected in this record."
