After their debut album the most multifaceted and unpredictable musical collective in Italy - Addict Ameba - come back with their sophomore album, 'Caosmosi.' Faithful to the aim of bringing together different paths, traditions and horizons in their music, the band moves between desert-blues and Afrobeat landscapes, with Latin rock rides and Ethio-jazz parentheses. The vision of the album is further enriched by two absolutely valuable features: Joshua Idehen, Anglo-Nigerian poet and singer and pen of Sons Of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming, is the author and lead voice in 'Look At Us,' a poem - or perhaps it would be more correct to say a prayer - an invitation to be protagonists and change this time, before it changes us; Rabii Brahim, Tunisian actor and musician, who in 'Ya Bled' gives birth to a love song for his land, telling the nostalgia and disorientation of migrant, even when he returns to his homeland. One of the best albums by UK psychedelic rock band The Deviants. The band's debut album 'Ptooff!' was originally released in 1967 on the label Underground Impresarios and only available through a few selected head shops before being re-printed by Decca Records in 1969. Founded by legendary counter-culture figure Mick Farren and Russell Hunter and inspired by The Fugs, the band was the first of the anarchic groups to emerge from the Ladbroke Grove area of London. Two years before Hawkwind burst on to the underground scene, the Deviants were preaching revolution and creating their own form of musical anarchy.

Heavy-progressive, proto-metal and psychedelic hard-rock from the depths of the UK underground, 1970-71. Formed in Preston by the core of Pete Hughes (lead guitar) and Mick Carroll (vocals, rhythm guitar), Stoned Rose evolved from a band called Five Steps Beyond and at one time featured Chris Allen on bass (later of Ultravox). The band worked with a London agency called Nemesis and also with Tramps from Birmingham (owned by Black Sabbath guitarist Toni Iommi). Stoned Rose played several times at notable venues like the Temple and the Cavern and also at underground and progressive clubs and Universities, sharing stage with bands like Stray, May Blitz, Blonde On Blonde... Rare and sought after psychedelic hard-rock album from 1971 by this power trio from Tampa (Florida) that opened for big names like Iron Butterfly and Mountain and even played at the legendary Goose Lake Music Festival in Michigan. Wizard consisted of Ben Schultz (guitar, vocals), Paul Forney (bass and lead vocals) and Chris Luhn (drums). Together, they conjured a heavy sound full of raw and loud guitars, powerful bass and crashing drums. 'The Original Wizard' was their only album, recorded as a "live" in the studio demo after the band caught the attention of Decca Records, finally released on the small Peon Productions label. Cheater Slicks is back with the first release on their own label Morbid Web Records. The single's main side 'I Am Low' is a crude pounder in the long tradition of Cheater Slicks, but has the addition of wild alto sax solos by Bobb Hatt. The lyrics are from a poem by Phil Milstein, who started the Velvet Underground Appreciation Society back in the early '80s. On the flipside is a Bo Diddley song done in Slicks style with lots of fuzz guitar, and bass by James Arthur (Fireworks, Necessary Evils, Manhunt) and piano by Will Foster. Cheater Slicks are known for doing strong 7" releases, and this one, 37 years through their story, might top them all! Get it while you can and don't miss out on this fantastic new single! Limited pressing of 500.

The Guy Hamper Trio was formed by Billy Childish, after a chat with his friend James Taylor (Hammond organ). They had played respectively in The Milkshakes and The Prisoners, often sharing the same bill in the early '80s. And indeed, Billy's blues ensemble: The Natural Born Lovers were the support act for the early shows of The James Taylor Quartet. The Guy Hamper Trio is: Billy Childish on guitar, his wife Julie on bass and Wolf on drums - who as it happens was the drummer in the original incarnation of JTQ - and of course features James Taylor on Hammond organ. The Guy Hamper Trio provide a bottom end, blues-influenced instrumental mayhem for those unafraid of dirt, germs and true grime. With no particular wish other than to be recognised as the best at playing badly, they refuse to obey the usual rules of combat and music. Their first 45 ('Polygraph Test'/'Sally Sensation') was released in 2009, followed by a full-length studio album, 'All The Poisons In The Mud,' appearing, as if by magic, in 2022, followed by five 7" singles (via Damaged Goods and Spinout Nuggets), and also a new full-length album via Hangman Records, titled 'Man In The Mouth Of A Cave.' This fully-loaded twin-spin single includes two tracks: 'Dog Jaw Woman' and 'The First Creature Is Jealousy.' Once again, after consultation with experts in the field, it was decreed that these tracks needed to be on a 7" single, for the enjoyment of the Mods, jive experts, lost revellers and those prone to frequent discotheques throughout England, the UK, Europe, the USA, Indonesia and indeed Portsmouth! Limited to 500 copies.

The B-side is a cover of the first track on the Cinecyde album 'I Left My Heart In Detroit City,' which originally came out in 1982. The Norcos members, Amado, Dougie, Roman and Annie are all veterans of the Detroit scene. You can spot a couple of them concurrently playing in Macho. Previous bands include Devious Ones, Bumpin' Uglies, Bill Bondsmen, Dewtons, etc.

This is the 12th entry (and second from Pat and his gang) in the Detroit covers series. One new original and one cover of a Detroit artist. Pat is always good for putting a unique spin on a known song or digging up an obscurity to cover, but where is talent really lies is in crafting original songs. He churns out great tunes like leaves falling from the trees on a brisk Midwest October day. Pat has Midwest roots and it shows through in his writing. 'Down At The End Of Your Rope' will be another instant favorite to all the Pat Todd and Lazy Cowgirls fans. Pat and his Rankoutsiders had an interesting choice on the Detroit cover. Rankoutsider guitarist, Kevin Keller, had been reasearching his family tree and genealogy chart when he discovered he had a distant cousin who was a musician that lived in the Detroit area going back to the late '50s, one Jimmy Boyer. Jimmy Boyer & The Newports did the original version of 'Little Miss Heartbreak,' but Pat and the Rankoutsiders make it their own with a slight rockabilly flair to it.

Tours of France, Spain and Germany happened, along with many gigs in the UK too. Since their return, two more 7"s and one 7" EP were released through State Records, followed by a 7" EP with Heavy Soul Records, and thirty-one years since their debut long player, the long-awaited second album 'All Good Things (Turn To Dust)' was released on Spinout Nuggets in 2022, to much praise. The group recently returned to record at Gizzard Studios, with raw, punchy 2-3 minute 'hits.' Limited to 500 copies.

The Veras are four fellas making music inspired by all the great music from the '50s right up to about 5 minutes ago. Their first release sprung in early 2020 (just before the mayhem), and they have since released a further four physical singles and their debut album. The last single was a marvellous cover of The Action's 'Something To Say,' recorded by Morgan Nicholls, former bass-player of late '80s/early '90s indie-pop big hitters The Senseless Things and who has gone on to work with Muse, Gorillaz, Lily Allen and The Who. Morgan engineered and produced the track and created the accompanying video for the song. Morgan is the son of Billy Nicholls, a solo artist on Andrew Loog Oldham's trailblazing Immediate Records label in the '60s. Although there was no plan for it to turn out the way it did, 'Get It While You Can' has turned into a story of the best of (and worst of) the last 18 months. Covering (quite loosely at times) greed, consumerism, human rights, throw-away culture and the slow death-spiral that is the environment. But it's definitely not all doom and gloom as there's pop tunes a-plenty and the overall feeling is buoyant and positive. More songs this time around have been self recorded, which has seen The Veras sound progress since their 'V For Veras' debut album. 'Get It While You Can' is rounded off with an extended version of The Action's 'Something To Say,' as mentioned earlier, which gained much approval from The Action's drummer Roger Powell. Limited to 250 copies on vinyl (with printed inner sleeve).

Back in the 1970s, women in punk bands were far outnumbered by their male counterparts, and women who wrote punk songs were even more rare. Ramona Jan formed Comateens in 1978 with Nick Dembling (aka Nick O. Teen). She wrote, played guitar and sang on the 2 songs included on this exciting deluxe reissue, which includes liner notes by both Nick and Ramona. Nick sings lead on 'Danger Zone,' Ramona on 'Elizabeth's Lover' (which was recorded at the same time as 'Danger Zone,' but not previously released). She left the band shortly after the release of the Comateens single to found the more new wave-oriented Dizzy & The Romilars (think Waitresses, B-52s, etc.), who recorded and released their own version of 'Elizabeth's Lover.' In between, Ramona produced the much-loved and sought-after 'Drive My Car' EP by Nastyfacts (Jimboco 1981/2022 Left For Dead reissue). If you like first wave punk, pop punk and alternative music made in a time when genres were still fluid and the rules had yet to be written, you're going to love this record! "Reissue label Left For Dead Records has been a vital reference library for punk scholars since their arrival in the world around six years ago with some fantastic reissues of work by Brooklyn trio Nastyfacts and New Jersey hardcore act TMA. This month, they're dropping a pair of fresh slabs of wax, including this 12" single from late '70s synth-punk group Comateens. Visiting the same musical malt shop as their contemporaries in the B-52's and Suicide, the quartet drew a good deal of inspiration from early '60s rock 45s, especially the dangerous ones about fast cars, heavy petting and unfortunate accidents. In their capable hands, Comateens amplified the sleaze and bile, leading to this tart pairing of tunes. Left For Dead Records' reissue of the long-out-of-print, HIGHLY collectible sole release from '80s teen-punk phenoms, Brooklyn's Nastyfacts, 'Drive My Car.' The original sessions were recorded at Media Sound Studios in New York City in 1980 produced by Ramona Lee Jan (Comateens, Dizzy & The Romilars, Nursery School, etc.), an engineer who'd worked at the studio with the Ramones, Brian Eno and countless others. The re-release was remastered by Jack Control (aka Jack Butcher) at Enormous Door in Austin, TX. Nastyfacts were fronted by bassist/lead singer/songwriter Cherl Boyze, an 18 year old Queer POC with the rest of the band being in their mid-teens or younger in 1981 when their three-song, 7-inch debut, 'Drive My Car,' was released on the independent Jimboco label. The record was a word-of-mouth hit and sold strongly in the U.S. despite group members being too young to tour. John Peel played it repeatedly on his legendary indie-centric BBC show and helped get it released in the UK. Over 40 years after their release these songs still capture the imaginations of music lovers the world over, showing up on OG punk compilations like 'Killed By Death' while rabid collectors pay $300 for original copies, and counterfeiters regularly sell out bootleg pressings. Limited to 400 copies on ultra-hi-fidelity 12" 45RPM pressing. Includes poster with liner notes by Steve Gardner (Noise For Heroes).

Reissue on yellow vinyl for the third album by the punk band The Exploited, released in 1983 through Pax Records. The title refers to Margaret Thatcher's decision to go to war over the Falkland Islands in 1982, suggesting that she did so almost on a whim. 'Let's Start A War' reached the Indie Chart Top 10 when first issued in 1983, this album also includes the single 'Rival Leaders' which hit No. 11 in the Indie Chart. A classic of the 'UK82' hardcore punk sound that provides a blueprint for the decade of punk and metal to come, and all in the space of just over half an hour.

'Popcorn' was a music scene in Belgium where DJ's mixed up mid-tempo r'n'b and Latin with soulful ballads to keep the crowd dancing 'till teatime with the odd showtune or standard thrown in for good measure. It caught the ear of club fanatic Eddy De Clercq, who took the camp side of popcorn to the underground gay bars in Ghent and Brussels before starting the first house night in Amsterdam at the Roxy club. The hunt for rare records was how popcorn disc jockeys separated themselves from the pack; hardcore diggers looked further than the US and found the same sound close to home: local artists from Flanders often had one song in their catalogue that fitted this mould. Up north, just outside the territorial waters of Holland, pirateship radio stations were on the same page broadcasting local versions of American tunes. The Stoffige Vingers label presents ten Dutch language tracks never compiled on vinyl before on this charming 10": True value for money as the combined value of the originals go close to four figures. Oldies with a twist!

A legendary concert by one of the great unrecorded bands in free jazz history is here at last. 'Webo,' the third installment in the Black Editions Archive series of previously unreleased recordings from Milford Graves' private tape library, roars into the station June 21, 2024. For the first time, Charles Gayle, Milford Graves and William Parker -three lions of the Black American jazz avant-garde- are finally heard together on record, presented here across three audiophile-quality LPs for two brutalizingly joyous hours of real ju-ju and musical mastery. The trio of Charles Gayle, Milford Graves and William Parker gave only seven public performances between 1985 & 2013 and released no recordings. Their June 1991 two-night stand at the short-lived Lower East Side venue Webo, long referenced as a signal event in New York free jazz's 1990s resurgence, has been a topic of discussion among close followers of the music for decades. In the uncompromising grassroots spirit of the 1970s New York Musicians Organization and loft jazz movements from which they had emerged, the band produced and promoted the Webo concerts themselves. Photography and audio recording were not allowed at the concerts and this official recording, commissioned by the artists, was never released - until now. So vivid was the lore surrounding Webo that it topped the list of recordings sought by Black Editions Archive from Graves' private collection. The tapes maximally substantiate eyewitness accounts describing extra-sensory levels of communication within the band and the extraordinary clarity and impact of their performance. From William Parker's liner notes: "Imagine a village or choir of drummers, horn players and strings. You can hear the bass and drums churning with a call and response, a melodic-rhythmic propulsion. In reality there is only one drummer, one bass and one saxophone." Age 52 at the time of these concerts, Charles Gayle had only recently made his first recordings. To all but the most immediate insiders he was still more myth than reality. Milford Graves, two months out from his 50th birthday, was about halfway into his body of recorded work and had sanctioned just one appearance on a commercially released recording in the last 14 years ('Pieces Of Time' by an all drummer quartet with Kenny Clarke, Andrew Cyrille and Famoudou Don Moye). William Parker, the young man of the group at age 39, was a mere fifty entries into his discography, now 500+ entries and counting. All three musicians were at least a quarter century into passionately developing a personal and collective music rooted in the cultural values & radical aesthetics of the 1960s and '70s Black American avant-garde. 30+ years after the Webo concerts, Black Editions Archive is honored to make these historical recordings available to the public. The 3 LPs are presented in a heavy black, pigment-stamped box with mounted cover painting along with liner notes by William Parker, commentary from Alan Licht (witness to night one of the Webo concerts), a reproduction of the original concert flyer and a set of 6x9 printed photos from the 2021 Webo reunion outside MoMA PS1, Queens, NY. COSMIC MYTH		 SUN RA & HIS ASTRO INFINITY ARKESTRA - STRANGE STRINGS (EXPANDED EDITION) (2LP)

Fans of Sun Ra's space bop and genre-bending jazz were in for a shock with 'Strange Strings.' Even in the eclectic and sometimes baffling Sun Ra catalog, 'Strange Strings,' first issued in 1967, is an outlier. Is it music, or just noise? Or noise as music? John Cage could not be reached for comment. For this album, Sun Ra collected an arsenal of exotic string instruments and handed them out to his Arkestra on the precept that "strings could touch people in a special way." That the Arkestrans didn't know how to play or tune these instruments was not beside the point - it was the point. Ra framed it "a study in ignorance." The result was primitive, yet sophisticated; brutal, yet highly sensitive. In his essay for this expanded edition, musician-curator David Toop calls Strange Strings "saturated in mystery." The original 1967 Saturn LP version was monophonic, contained three tracks, and suffered distortion in the mastering (perhaps due to the high-decibel studio performance and excessive reverb). Yet some sessions were captured in stereo. A dozen strange-string works have been located, five of which are included on this remastered edition. No track titles appeared on the original Saturn LP verso, but the three works issued were later identified as 'World's Approaching,' the LP title track, and an inversion of the title, 'Strings Strange.' A belatedly discovered tape box listed the third recording as 'Strange Strange,' a title which has been used in this edition.
