Traditional Latvian folk songs form the basis, and from here the six musicians of Zari explore exciting folktronica worlds! Zari are from the port city of Liepaja and they come from very different musical directions; from alternative rock and indie, and from electronic pop to folk. They want the often quiet, meditative folk songs of their homeland transformed into powerful, electronic and sometimes quite experimental sounds. Incidentally, the band name Zari is chosen wisely: it means "branches" and symbolizes the different musical branches on which the musicians are located. And yet they are all part of a single tree.
