The Angelic Upstarts and Crashed Out are good friends with each other and both come from the North East of the UK. So, having previously toured together, it was decided that the next step should be to record a new album together. So each band recorded six new songs, making a dozen tracks in total. This is how the title of the split album came about, 'The Dirty Dozen.'
