'Higher Self' is the 2022 full-length from a female South African hip hop artist, who's work is heavily focused on the experience of being gay in South Africa. Music scholar Professor Adam Haupt credits her for "transforming South African hip hop by queering a genre that has predominantly been male and heteronormative".
