ACID MOTHERS REYNOLS - VOL. 1 (LP/LA BELLE BRUTE)

Reynols is back! More than fifteen years after their separation, the most insane combo of the galaxy and beyond will therefore continue to surprise us. And what a return since they are accompanied by some no less eccentric friends, namely the group Acid Mothers Temple. On one side the Argentinian group guided by the drummer-singer-spirit Miguel Tomasin, known for his embodied chants, his absurd proposals and his chromosome 21 in three triplicate, on the other, the Japanese group with long hair and long beards, guitars from outer space, led by the legendary Makoto Kawabata.

BULL, SANDY - FANTASIAS FOR GUITAR AND BANJO (LP/ALTERNATIVE FOX)

Folk musician Sandy Bull took an unorthodox approach to stringed instruments, influenced in part by sharing an apartment with Nubian oud master, Hamza El Din. His 1963 debut LP for Vanguard, 'Fantasias For Guitar And Banjo', saw him backed by Los Angeles-based jazz drummer Billy Higgins: side-long epic 'Blend' is influenced by eastern and middle-eastern music forms; 'Little Maggie' displays a lightning-fast picking style, 'Gospel Tune' hearkens to the American South, medieval classic 'Non Nobis Domine' is relayed on banjo and 'Carmina Burana' is given an individual finger-picking reading.

CUSTARD FLUX - ECHO (+CD) (LP/FRIENDS OF THE FISH)

Thirteen Custard Flux songs, eight on the LP and five on the bonus CD. Custard Flux is Curvey's new, mostly, electricity-free outlet featuring an 1890s harmonium, piano, double bass, guitars, violin, and drums. Heavy acoustic tracks featuring outstanding performances by Walt Prettyman on violin, and Timothy Prettyman on double bass, and there's even one electric guitar solo by the apparently unrestrained Curvey. "Rules are meant to be broken. eh?" 'Echo' was released on CD in 2019 and garnered outstanding reviews, placing at #4 on the Reviews Editor of Prog Magazine's Best of 2019 list, while Goldmine Magazine's Dave Thompson says, "Echo is no less the child of Syd Barrett, Andy Partridge and a flock of fellow psych explorers than their glorious debut album 'Helium'!" This limited edition LP (150 copies) is pressed on transparent midnight blue vinyl.

ELECTRIC MOON - YOU CAN SEE THE SOUND OF... EXTENDED VERSION (LP/SULATRON)

In 2012 Sulatron released a limited 10" EP which sold out fast. Now they are releasing an extended version of it. This time on CD with 3 bonus tracks from the same sessions, which had not been released so far. Due to a harddisc crash there are only rawmixes of these unfinished versions left. They selected 3 of these tracks and decided to leave them as they are to keep the original 2012 feeling. Mastering for all tracks by Eroc. Limited to 500 copies.

GREEN SEAGULL - CLOUD COVER (LP/MEGA DODO)

'Cloud Cover' sees Green Seagull develop their fascination for melodic sixties pop and combine it with glorious vocal harmonies to create a mellow Stateside vibe filtered through early '70s UK acts like Brinsley Schwarz and Danny Kirwan-era Fleetwood Mac. Their shared enthusiasm for late '60s baroque psychedelia and 12-string jangle has blossomed into a prolific songwriting team that now includes contributions from their keyboardist Sarah Gonputh. Limited to 300 copies on black vinyl.

L'ECLAIR - NOSHTTA EP (LP/BONGO JOE)

This EP shows L'Eclair taking new directions and approaches to its commitment to the groove. 'Cebando' is a percussion heavy opener that is filled with liquid synths and multiple riffs, all mixed in an old school dub fashion. Then comes 'Atlantis', an introspective and dreamy polyrhythmic meditation. Carried by a hypnotic rhythm section and coastal nostalgia, the track is a genuine underwater fantasy. Trippy times guaranteed! 'Dallas', the B side opener, is a very sample friendly song and was conceived with a DJ/digger's approach in mind. It's got a nasty drum break, a Black Sabbath-esque bridge and wild solos. Last but not least, 'Carousel' is without a doubt the most modern track on this EP. Blending minimal synth sequences with an unconventional cold post-dub groove, the song reaches climax with duelling basses and is turned into a total club banger.

PASTOR - UNVEIL (LP/CURSED TONGUE)

Second album by stoner/doom rockers Pastor. Their various influences can be drawn from your dad's record collection (well, if he was actively listening from 1968 to 1978). The tunes are filled with fine riffs, spaced out solos and hard hitting rhythm sections. Come to the Sabbath... Limited to 200 copies on 180 gram black vinyl.

DIRECTIONS - THREE BANDS TONITE/ON THE TRAIN (PD) (7"/DETOUR)

INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC

GEROGERIGEGEGE - UGUISUDANI APOCALYPSE (LP/THE TRILOGY TAPES)

"Working under one of the sickest names out there, The Gerogerigegege (translates as Japanese onomatopoeia for spewing and pooing yourself simultaneously) have carved out a singular catalogue of lascivious antics since the mid '80s for some of the baddest underground labels in existence. Influenced as much by Whitehouse as lounge music, Manga and sexual fetishes, they're next level nutters of the rarest kind, and their music is equally off the wall and testament to that fact. Returning to the fray in 2016 after a 15 year hiatus, they now cross paths with TTT in a wild dedication to the least used "but, the deepest" trainline in Tokyo with 'Uguisudani Apocalypse.' On the first side they variously touch on sleaziest lounge and slunky spy jazz styles, along with wicked turns of organ and drum machine-driven suss recalling Techno Menses, plus a scything High Rise-style psych burner, while the flip keeps it equally unpredictable with shots of whiskey-sozzled blues rock, businessman jazz tristesse and strip-bar disco that all makes perfect sense under the cover's image of two proud gents in various states of undress." ~Boomkat.

GRIM - HERMIT AMEN (CYAN) (LP/STEINKLANG)

'Hermit Amen' is based on unreleased melodies made by Grim with TASCAM porta one between the 1980s and 2010s. For all fans of early Grim and Jun Konagaya material! Limited to 125 copies on cyan blue vinyl. Comes with 12-page 12" sized booklet.

PAVAN/FREZZATO + ALDINUCCI/BERNOCCHI - NOT LINEAR (LP/ADESSO)

Recorded in separate locations, 'Not Linear' collects the collaboration of Pavan and Frezzato with two internationally acknowledged artists such as Giulio Aldinucci and Eraldo Bernocchi, each one interpreting a track of their choice out of all those initially selected out of the studio sessions. It is a musical dialogue between electronics (Pavan) and acoustic instruments (Frezzato), using an "online" form of composition.

STALOWA WOLA - THE WILL OF STEEL (LP/STEINKLANG)

Stalowa Wola is a martial industrial project based on the symbolic and historical meaning of the same-named Polish city, which can be read as "The Will Of Steel". Limited to 100 copies only!

FM EINHEIT/ANDREAS AMMLER - HAMMERSCHLAG (CD/COLD SPRING)

'Hammerschlag', created by FM Einheit (member of Einstürzende Neubauten early 1980s to mid-1990s), with Andreas Ammer, features many percussive industrial elements and "machine music" (chains, scraping, coiled springs, objects), noise, experimental electronics and provocative musical compositions familiar to the ears of Neubauten fans. An oratorio with prelude and two noise interludes, based on Russian futurist Aleksej Kapitonovic Gastev, the "bard of the machine age".

METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

GHASH - GOAT (LP/BEVERINA/CASUS BELLI MUSICA)

Atmospheric black metal from Chile. Alluring atmospheres with accents of pure triumph! Limited to 100 copies only!

GLOOSH - TIMEWHEEL (LP/BEVERINA/CASUS BELLI MUSICA)

Forest black metal from the depths of Siberia! Limited to 100 copies only!

BLUES/COUNTRY/OLDIES

DR. BONTEMPI'S SNAKE OIL COMPANY - BONFIRE/COUNTRY COUSIN (7"/TWI-LITE)

The Snake Oil Co. is back with its second single. Recorded in a barn and without any props or false floors, you get straight hillbilly from the weird side with no drums at all and a lot of steel-guitar howling, fiddle squeeking and a cottonfield holler. On the A-side you got 'Bonfire', Jimmy Piper's murder tale in a new livery. Over on the B-side is Young Jessie's song 'Country Cousin', played and sounding as this here version could be the original. Both songs are never before released.

JAZZ/AVANTGARDE

ILORI, SOLOMON -& HIS AFRO-DRUM ENSEMBLE- - AFRICAN HIGH LIFE (LP/ALTERNATIVE FOX)

Pioneering percussionist Solomon Ilori was one of the first Nigerian artists to record with American jazz musicians, travelling to New York in 1958 to introduce African music to American audiences. After appearing on Art Blakey's 1962 LP 'The African Beat' for Blue Note; he recorded 'African High Life' with members of Blakey's ensemble, including guitarist Jay Berliner, bassist Ahmed Abdul Malik, Hosea Taylor on alto sax and flute, and percussionists Montego Joe Montego, Robert Crowder and Garvin Masseaux. 'Tolani Re O' is a love song, 'Ise Oluw' a song of religious praise, 'Yaba E' a farewell song that was issued as a single, and 'Aiye Le' a warning of the dangers of this world.

SANDERS, PHAROAH - PHAROAH (UK) (LP/ALTERNATIVE FOX)

In 1977, Pharoah Sanders cut a set called 'Pharaoh' for the New York-based underground jazz label India Navigation, with the excellent laid-back epic 'Harvest Time,' featuring Pharaoh's wife Bedria on harmonium, as Ohio-born double-bassist Steve Neil and former Mongo Santamaria guitarist Tsiji Munoz and former Joe Thomas keyboardist Jiggs Case craft subtle melodic backing. On side two, percussionist Lawrence Killian and drummer Greg Bandy drive the rhythm, as Sanders himself sings. SIDE 1: 1. Harvest Time SIDE 2: 1. Love Will Find A Way 2. Memories Of Edith Johnson

WALDRON, MAL -& GARY PEACOCK- - FIRST ENCOUNTER (LP/ALTERNATIVE FOX)

After playing with Mingus, Coltrane, Lady Day and Abbey Lincoln, inventive jazz pianist Mal Waldron moved to Europe and first reached Japan in 1970, where he met Idaho-born double-bassist Gary Peacock, who had played with Art Pepper, Bud Shank, Bill Evans and free-jazz giant Albert Ayler before moving to Japan to study Zen Buddhism. 'First Encounter', recorded in Tokyo in 1971 for French producer Herve Bergerat, shows that the intense pairing was quite natural, the harmonic dissonance of Waldron's 'She Walks In Beauty' contrasted by the up-tempo groove of Peacock's 'What's That'; future Native Son founder Hiroshi Murakami makes important contribution on drums.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC/AMBIENT/D’N’B/TRIPHOP

IMLER, CHRIS - COUNTRY CLUB EP (12"/RIO)

Chris Imler, who alternates between eternal street boy and dubious magician, has succeeded in upgrading to a prophet with his third record. Synths like deeply pitched sirens, a beat marching like ground troops. Includes two remixes by INIT and Debmaster.

FOX, ANDY - BROWSER CAT EP (LP/SUNLOVER)

Spanning multiple styles and genres in a seamless blend of dance music, this album references synthwave, Italo disco, fun and blissed-out synth sounds throughout a constantly evolving record, merging modern feels with rich tapestry of old '80s melodies.

SOUNDTRACKS/LOUNGE/CULT ETC

SAKAMOTO, RYUICHI - AILE DE HONNEAMISE - ROYAL SPACE FORCE (LP/ALTERNATIVE FOX)

Synth wizard Ryuichi Sakamoto was a composer and arranger since the mid-'70s and burst into the world's greater consciousness in Yellow Magic Orchestra. After working on the 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' soundtrack (and shortly before scoring 'The Last Emperor'), Sakamoto became musical director on the 1987 anime project 'Royal Space Force: The Wings Of Honnêamise', a sci-fi drama set in an alternative world. The film was seen as ground-breaking for its portrayal of human alienation and social conformity, and Sakamoto's funky spacy synth soundtrack feels ground-breaking too. This deluxe edition includes 4 bonus tracks and an exclusive full color 60x60cm (24x24 inches) poster!

AFRO-BEAT/FUNK & PSYCH/DESERT BLUES/ETHIOPIQUES

THIAM, TIDIANE - SIFTORDE (LP/SAHEL SOUNDS)

Dreamy instrumental acoustic folk guitar from Fouta Toro in Northern Senegal. Fingerpicked acoustic guitar with intricate syncopation, a technique inspired by the four-string hoddu, with melodies that go back centuries, from the Almoravid dynasty to the Mali Empire. In contrast to the familiar desert blues, 'Siftorde' highlights a very distinct and underrepresented style of Sahelian guitar. Guitarist, photographer, visual artist and folklorist Tidiane Thiam hails from Podor, a small riverside town in the far North of Senegal. A self-taught musician who learned guitar from late-night radio broadcasts, Tidiane is a veritable encyclopedia of Sahel folklore. Borrowing from this repertoire, he adapts his own technique of fingerstyle guitar, crafting serene pieces imbued with emotive reflection. Recorded at night on a single microphone at home in Podor, and set against the backdrop of crickets, the recordings on 'Siftorde' are stripped down and informal, without any pretense of a studio recording. The effect is deeply personal and intimate. The album's title, translated by Tidiane in four languages, means 'Remember' - a nostalgic ode to the temporality of the recording, and a plea for the songs themselves, whose survival demands they not be forgotten.
