PSYCHEDELIC/PROGRESSIVE/FOLK

CUSTARD FLUX - HELIUM (2LP) (LP/SELF RELEASE)

For the last 30 years, Curvey has been thee driving force behind cult psych-prog-pop band The Luck of Eden Hall. Custard Flux is a new electricity free outlet. Captain Curvehead's sonic ointment to remedy the daily routine of beautiful human life. "This project was born out of a vision I had after acquiring a 100 year old Harmonium, and the ability to be able to set up in the park and play progressive psychedelic pop without any electricity. Newly located in Detroit, I've set out to find a group of like minded musicians, including a double bassist, drummer, keyboardist and guitarist. It's taken some time, but the spark has been lit, and I'm pleased with the music. I hope you like it too." ~Curvey. Two raspberry colored 180 gram LPs featuring all 16 songs included on both the 'Helium' CD and box set bonus CDs. Limited to 250 copies.

DOS-MUKASAN - DOS-MUKASAN ENSEMBLE (LP/EBALUNGA!!!)

EBALUNGA!!! presents another bomb for all lovers of old rare music! This the first reissue of the second and last album by this legendary Soviet Kazakh 'Vocal and Instrumental Ensemble' licensed directly from the band's leader Murat Kusainov. Comes with restored original artwork and old-stylish vinyl. The album was recorded in 1982, released in 1983 and now re-released in 2019! For now, this is one of the most wanted and important records of the old Soviet rock scene. Ten finest songs with shining melodies, rich arrangements, unforgettable voices, and an unique oriental blend.

EMMET SPICELAND - THE FIRST..... (LP/TRADING PLACES)

Innovative folk group Emmet Spiceland was formed during the late 1960s through the merger of two acts: noted guitarist, mandolin and bouzouki player Donal Lunny had been playing with Mick Moloney and Brian Bolgor in the Dublin-based Emmet Folk group, while brothers Brian and Michael Byrne had been active in The Spicelanders, based in Sheffield, England, which had a large following in Ireland; when Moloney left Emmet Folk to join another act, Lunny and Moloney joined the Byrne Brothers to form Emmet Spiceland, though Bolgor would not remain for long. The new group's approach to the traditional Irish folk was different from their contemporaries, since they aimed to bring the folk form into the real of modern pop music through accessible, chart-bound arrangements, helped along by their pop-idol looks. Signing to Larry Page's Page One label in 1968, their sole album was produced by the hitmaking team of Bill Martin and Phil Coulter, who added occasional orchestration; their rendition of the traditional 'Mary From Dungloe' topping the Irish charts. Though a cover of a Leonard Cohen song was also popular for the group, they disbanded shortly thereafter, leading Lunny to enjoy a long and industrious solo career as a session musician and producer that would ultimately work with Christy Moore, Elvis Costello and countless others. Comes on 45 rpm 180 gram vinyl.

EYE MAKE THE HORIZON - DIM SUN (LP/DRONE ROCK)

Debut vinyl album by Eye Make The Horizon from Sweden. Mixing modern psych and post-punk with improvised free-jazz style jams, 'Dim Sun' is possibly the most challenging yet rewarding title released on Drone Rock Records. The band themselves have a fantastic pedigree with most of the band appearing in such renowned Swedish psychedelic outfits as Kungens Män, Fanatism, Automatism and Sista Maj.

IN THIS STYLE - CRAFT (LP/NASONI)

This unique band from Mishawaka (USA) blends psychedelic rock with elements from punk, prog, garage rock, pop, world music, experimental styles and more, resulting in a superb and highly dynamic album.

JUDD - JUDD (LP/TRADING PLACES)

Alsatian wunderkind Mark Wirtz led many successful pop music projects during the 1960s and 70s, especially during his long tenure at Abbey Road. A gifted painter, musician and actor, Wirtz's college band was signed to EMI as Mark Rogers and the Marksmen, while Wirtz was still attending the RADA in London; by 1965 he was producing music independently and became an in-house producer at Abbey Road in 1967, working with Keith West & Tomorrow and fronting the Mark Wirtz Orchestra, AKA The Mood Mosaic. The blues and soul-tinged Judd album, issued in 1970 on Larry Page's Penny Farthing label, featured Wirtz on keyboards and rhythm guitar, fronting a studio band with bassist Roger Flavell, guitarist Roger McKew and drummer Tat Meager (who had played on Siren's eponymous, John Peel-produced debut LP); backing vocalists such as Madeleine Bell, Doris Troy and sisters Yvonne and Heather Wheatman, AKA Sonny and Sue, gave a more rounded sound. Much of the material was co-written by Kris Ife, who had worked with McKew in The Quiet Five, though there is also an individual cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Down On The Corner,' made livelier by Wirtz's piano chords.

RANDEN, BILL - THE LATER TAPES, VOL. 1: ANTIQUITIES (LP/BLACKSPIN)

This album consists of ten lyrical stories that together creates a complete listening experience. With an acoustic feeling, esoteric lyrics and dark mood, the album involves the guitaristic folk of the '60s and '70s together with the Americana compositions of today while the artist's vocal performance, pushes the acoustic boundaries of each composition to a dive in a deep level melodic ocean. Limited to 300 copies on coloured vinyl.

SEX BLENDER - HORMONIZER (NEON PINK) (LP/DRONE ROCK)

Repress on neon pink vinyl. The four tracks on this debut album by Ukrainian psych band Sex Blender tick so many boxes blending elements of motorik, spacerock, stoner rock and krautrock to create a fantastic modern psych classic. "Another tour de force from Drone Rock Records, who continue their circumnavigation of the psych world with this epic album from Ukraine's Sex Blender. Four monoliths of guitar-fronted power, each having its own character and drawing from a heady palette of influences that come together to create an experience that is, beyond anything else, seismic." ~Psych Insight Music.

ZIGURI - LIVE AT THE LUCID DREAMS OF DR. SARDONICUS (LP/SUNHAIR)

This is the first live album by Ziguri from Berlin! Günter Schickert, the famous echo guitar player (his first album 'Samtvogel' from 1974 is a Krautrock classic) played a storming show together with his two collaborateurs Udo Ehrenreich on bass and Dieter Kölsch on drums at the Lucid Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus festival, which happened during the 5th of May till the 7th of May 2017 in Würzburg and was a successful cooperation with the Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus festival, happening annually in Cardigan, Wales. Also it was a joint venture by the music labels Fruits De Mer Records and Sunhair Music. Ziguri's show was ultrapsychedelic and sometimes the very co(s)mic tracks which range from 5 to 12 minutes length meandered through space and time. The tracks are mostly instrumental and there is a dada-istic singing on two of the six tracks which supports the thriving groove! Limited to 300 handnumbered copies on 180 gram vinyl.

ELECTRIC MOON - HUGODELIA (CD/SULATRON)

Hugo Graf has been a place for people of all ages in a wonderful old house, its cellar was used for underground concerts, but Graf Hugo got fucked by the government in the manner of capitalism. Electric Moon was invited to their farewell festival and had the great honour to play the very last into this old building. The second half of the concert, Erich of the Hugo crew joined the band and they were freaking out together. Dennis (also from Hugo) recorded it, Dave produced it and 'Hugodelia' was born. Cover design and artwork by Lulu Artwork. TRACKS: 1. Hugodelia 20:30 2. Transmitter 20:33 3. Cellar Slime 12:37 4. Ween 23:17

IAH - II (CD/NECIO RECORDS)

IAH is an instrumental stoner/psych rock band from Argentina that creates heavy spaced-out sounds. Though the sound reveals elements of Karma To Burn, Colour Haze and some other influential instrumental rock bands, IAH brings its own sounds to the table. Their second album comntains 6 tracks.

KUSUDO & WORTH - OF SUN AND RAIN (CD/SLIPSTREAM)

Reissue of a very rare private press album from 1968 by Kusudo & Worth. The album is very much in the loner folk tradition with some songs having psych acid folk flourishes. The CD comes with a 32 page insert booklet which tells their story with many rare photos. It also comes with 3 bonus tracks.

LOS TABANOS EXPERIENCE - ATLANTIS MIRAGE (CD/NECIO RECORDS)

Chile is already known as a hot-bed of amazing modern psychedlic music (think Follakzoid, Holydrug Couple, Chicos De Nazca), and 'Atlantis Mirage' by Los Tabanos Experience only enhances that reputation. In the words of the band themselves "the music of Los Tabanos Experience walks between space rock, heavy psychedelia and improvised jams." This is South American stoner-rock at its finest.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL

CAVEBONES - THE BEER DRINK'N ZOMBIE DWARF... (10") (10"/PURE LUST PRODUCTIONS)

...THAT LOVED MY DARLING SNAKE' - 10". Until now, The Cavebones' recording history is short. In 1992, they had the song 'The Wolfman' released on the That's Entertainment Records Norwegian garage/punk sampler 'Penguins And Bondage'. Then in 1995 they had their own song 'Atomic Cocktail' featured on the double CD-only sampler 'Mosserock' featuring local bands from Moss, Norway from the '60s to the '90s. This is the first Cavebones record! It took 30 years to finally get here. The six tracks give a good representation of where the band comes from and where they stand today. Musically, The Cavebones were influenced by deranged and wild '50s compilations like 'Sin Alley', and 'Desperate Rock And Roll'. In fact, their first band rehearsals were all about covering artists that appeared on compilations like that. Other band influences from the early days included the fantastic sounds of The Cramps and the neo-garage fame of The Fuzztones.

HEART, JACK -& THE LOVE GHOSTS- - BLUE ETERNITY (LP/BLACKSPIN)

Completely recorded in a tower of Mani (Peloponnisos), Jack Heart & The Love Ghosts has made a cracking album of emotional songs, dressed with a unique, dynamic and colourful character of alternative vibes, fulfilled by ethereal guitaristic moments and illustrated with deep passionate vocals. PUNK/HARDCORE

REID, DUNCAN -& THE BIG HEADS- - KELLY'S GONE INSANE (7"/CROCODILE)

B/w 'Pretty Little Rachel' and 'Baby Baby'. 2019 EP by the UK's purveyors of heavy power pop-punk, featuring singer and bass player Duncan Reid, previously of punk pioneers The Boys. "A mesh of angsty agitation and glitter mod stomp." ~Mojo. "The Peter Pan of powerpop." ~Uncut.

RAW POWER - '83 DEMO (LP/UGLY POP)

One of the fiercest, most violent punk sessions ever recorded, the legendary Italian hardcore outfits 1983 Brown Studio demo has unbelievably never appeared on vinyl in its original form (although you'll recognise Fuck Authority, culled from here to appear on MRR's 'Welcome To 1984' comp). Nineteen songs of feral thrash in 23 minutes, kicked out with unreal fury, chainsaw guitars and savage vocals. Remastered by Raw Power freak James Cavalluzzo (Malhavoc) from an original copy of the demo, this has been beefed up without sacrificing the essential rawness. Ugly Pop is proud to present this killer 12", released in a limited pressing with the band's cooperation.

INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC

ARDITI - EXALTATION OF THE PAST (LP/STEINKLANG)

Compilation of remastered early era tracks by this Swedish martial industrial project. Limited to 100 copies so be fast!

GRIM - LUNATIC HOUSE (LP/STEINKLANG)

2019 album by this Japanese industrial project. Limited to 150 copies on clear vinyl.

YXIMALLOO - THE BEST OF YXIMALLOO 2 (LP/SAKURA WRECHORD)

Yximalloo's (Naofumi Ishimaru) long and varied career in music covers a period as manager of Yellow Magic Orchestra back in the day, when he also started producing his own music on cassette. Later branching out into CDrs, his discography is voluminous. Sometimes collaborating with Momus, Jad Fair (Half Japanese), Sympathy Nervous (Vanity Records) and others, he has quietly put out over 70 releases, all with his undefinable catalogue of styles. An unknown track of his was released in 2013 by Kompakt, as 'Wanted'. An unknown artist - they had lost the details of the CD he'd sent them - they were compelled to release it anyway. It was the only vinyl release of Yximalloo's until 'Best Of'. Now he returns with a second volume. Culled from just a few points in his prolific career, this release has hints of early Residents, Hosono's jerky formative sample projects and deep-in-the-woods Texas Chainsaw Massacre vocals - just a few more glimpses of Yximalloo's dimensions.

METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

SLAUGHTER - NOCTURNAL HELL (7"/URBAIN GRANDIER)

One of the very earliest manifestations of death metal on wax, Slaughter's 1986 debut EP is a primordial blast of skull-crushing brutality - equal parts Celtic Frost, Discharge, and Possessed, and every bit as heavy as that sounds. Urbain Grandier now presents the first-ever legitimate reissue of this ground-breaking Canadian slab in its original 7" form, in a high-quality, hand-numbered one-time pressing of 500 copies on white vinyl with insert, in pocket sleeve featuring art by OG Toronto thrash artist Harry Tong (Slaughter, Sacrifice).

MALHAVOC - AGE OF THE DARK RENAISSANCE (LP/URBAIN GRANDIER)

Finally on vinyl for the first time ever, the cult '86 demo from Canada's Malhavoc. Eight violent, feral outbursts of raw black thrash with a twisted, malevolent edge. Drinking from the same poisoned well as early Voivod, Bathory, Sodom, Hellhammer and Possessed, this is a high-quality vinyl pressing remixed from the original reels and housed in full-colour gatefold jacket, with extensive liner notes and a wealth of unseen images direct from the group in an eight-page booklet plus vintage flyer repro on semi-gloss heavy stock. One time pressing of 500 only.

BLUES/COUNTRY/OLDIES

COOPER, MIKE (60S) - OH REALLY!? (LP/TRADING PLACES)

The guitarist and singer-songwriter Mike Cooper was a key figure in the British blues boom of the late 1960s. Born in Reading in 1942, Cooper began playing guitar as a teen in local skiffle groups. After seeing Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee perform in 1961, Cooper caught the blues bug and began to play the harmonica and formed The Blues Committee, supporting John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson, Alexis Korner and Long John Baldry, while Cooper was also performing solo. Acquiring a lap steel guitar in 1963, he studied Blind Boy Fuller's work and in 1965, teamed with Dave Hall to support Bert Jansch, Al Stewart and others; after releasing work on the Kennet, Sydisc and Matchbox labels, Cooper soon began incorporating country blues aspects into his work, drawing from Son House and Mississippi Fred McDowell, as well as non-blues artists such as David Bowie, John Martyn, Roy Harper and Dave Van Ronk. Then, in late 1968, Cooper was approached by producer Peter Eden, resulting in debut album 'Oh Really!?' for Pye; aside from agreeable covers of Son House's 'Death Letter' and Blind Boy Fuller's 'Bad Luck Blues,' the rest of the disc is pure Cooper, with his deft picking accompanied by Derek Hall's guitar work only on 'Leadhearted Blues' and 'Electric Chair.' Comes on 45 rpm 180 gram vinyl.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC/AMBIENT/D’N’B/TRIPHOP

KALMA, ARIEL - NUITS BLANCHES AU STUDIO 116 (LP/TRANSVERSALES DISQUES)

Unreleased rarities from Ariel Kalma's personal archives recorded in the legendary GRM's Studio 116 during the '70s. Born and raised in Paris, Ariel Kalma started playing the recorder and saxophone at a young age. After successive studies of computer science, music and art in Paris he performed in various concerts from middle-age music to free jazz duo. After learning circular breathing on soprano sax, Ariel could include those endless notes into his own long-delay effect system. In France during the mid-1970s, Kalma worked as a recording assistant at legendary Groupe de Recherches Musicales (INA GRM) studios, where Ariel recorded some of his compositions in Studio 116; the same music laboratory where Luc Ferrari and Bernard Parmegiani also recorded their pieces.

LISTENING CENTER - RETRIEVING (LP/POLYTECHNIC YOUTH)

'Retrieving' is a fabulous 11 track collection, rich on a fondness for everything from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop to lost '80s gaming consoles, imagined VHS soundtracks and '70s kids science programme themes to the work of kraut heavyweights like Michael Rother's early post Neu! solo work and all stops in between. Often playful, always diverse and with extraordinary depth this is just wonderful! Dressed in another killer Nick Taylor (reverse board) sleeve, this one is just gorgeous and destined to follow suit for both artist and label and sell out immediately. Limited to 250 copies.

SOUNDTRACKS/LOUNGE/CULT ETC

Johnnie Moore & His New Blazers - Bullfrog

VARIOUS - VOULEZ-VOUS CHA-CHA? (LP/BORN BAD)

Tropical music and France go way back. Indeed, this tropism for exotic music, not without the mannerisms that go with it, has been around. In pre-World War 2 Paris, from Montparnasse to Montmartre, dancing clubs bloomed throughout the capital while the World Exhibition sold a rather uncertain idea of the other tropics: a discounted and fantasized exotic dream of island life. After the Second World War, it just started all over again. At the time, Latin-style combos were all the rage in France such as the chachacha which was officially invented in the early 1950s by Enrique Jorrin, soon followed by the pachanga. With the approach of the 1960s, typical music styles were found all over the country, from the northern plains to the southern sea. After all, one must sell records to the youth, at all costs and any price. These 7-inch vinyl records were therefore recorded at Barclay and Vogue. Most had improbable dialogue, as well as senseless adaptations such as the 'Marchand De Melons' distorting Herbie Hancock's 'Watermelon Man'. But in general, it all definitely swings and is sometimes even quite impressive. LP comes with download code. TRACKS: 01. Cassius Simon - Please Mister Hitchcock 02. Spartaco Andreoli - Eins Zwei Drei 03. Billy's Sax - Le Fil Direct 04. Los Albinos - Chacha Bepop 05. Los Goragueros - Mambo Miam Miam 06. Rol Basti - Casoar 07. Gillian Hills - Chacha Stop 08. Spartaco Sax - Ne Nous Fachons Pas 09. Norman Maine - Paris 10. Les Bretelles - Marchand De Melons 11. Los Chiquitos - Ca C'est Du Poulet 12. Norman Maine - Mundial Chacha 13. Jack Ary - Chacha Transistor 14. Henri Salvador & Jean Yanne - Allo Brigitte 15. Cassius Simon - Tabou 16. Les Gouapes A Musique - La Tarte A La Nana 17. Los Cangaceiros - Bip Bip 18. Jack Ary - Defendu defendu 19. Les Kili Cats - Le Soukou Soukou 20. Los Albinos - Voulez-Vous Cha-Cha?

AFRO-BEAT/FUNK & PSYCH/DESERT BLUES/ETHIOPIQUES

GRUPO PILON - LEITE QUENTE FUNANA DE CABO VERDE (LP/OSTINATO)

This compilation represents the second chapter of the Krioulu diaspora story. In Luxembourg, in 1986, a group of Cape Verdian teenagers formed a brilliant band named after the blunt instrument used in the islands to pound corn for the country's national dish, cachupa. Grupo Pilon combined searing estilo Krioulu drumming and the hybrid ColaZouk style with blissful synth work and rugged guitar licks, creating a stripped-down, addictive sound that masterfully straddled two worlds. The LP-version is presented on 180-GRAM VINYL.

LOWLA, AHMEDOU AHMED - TERROUZI (CD/SAHEL SOUNDS)

Ahmedou Ahmed Lowla plays instrumental electronic keyboard in a style known in Mauritania as WZN, or in Arabic simply "music." Born into a musical family tradition (his father is a renowned tidnit player from Traza), today Ahmedou Ahmed Lowla is one of Mauritania's most premiere keyboard performers. Soundtracking lavish weddings in the countries capital, Ahmedou has earned a reputation for his evocative theatrics, accentuating notes with by playing with his elbows, or tapping the keyboard with his head. 'Terrouzi' presents a future vision of Mauritania WZN. Indulging the digital keyboard for all its plastic sounds, accompanied with the thump and clash of programmed electronic drums, Ahmedou's style is difficult to place. Ancient classics are transformed into baroque freakouts, with a flurry of shredding over microtonal pitch bending notes in the signature WZN style. Not content to rest solely in tradition, Ahmedou leans heavily into outernational pop music, creating anachronistic pieces that veer from '90s slow jam R&B, to bass heavy boom bap and minimal trap. A standout entry in synth music from the Sahara.

VARIOUS: WORLD, CLASSICAL, SPOKEN WORDS ETC

YIN YIN - ONE INCH PUNCH (7"/BONGO JOE)

B/w 'The Grey Chamber Of Hinacho Otome'. Dutch band YIN YIN strikes back with 2 tracks still using influences from East Asian '60s and '70s music as their main inspiration. This has resulted in a colourful unique mix of psychedelic, funk and disco.
