ABRANIS - CHENAR LE BLUES/AVEHRI (7"/BONGO JOE)

This fifth single in Bongo Joe's 45s series focuses on the legendary Algerian kabyle rock band Abranis, founded in 1967. The band pioneered the fusion of chaabi (traditional) music with '60s-'70s western rock, proudly singing in their own berber kabyle language while wearing hippy rockers outfits. Their shows were often cancelled by governors and the band once was arrested by the police, generating riots. The band kept on playing and recording until mid '90s. This 7" presents two major tracks from the band. Side A features 'Chenar Le Blues', released in 1977, a big hit on Algerian national radio. The band's response to The Doors. The B side, 'Avehri', released in 1983 shows the band's obsession to merge different music styles with the North African traditional airs.

LOS MIRLOS - LOS CHARAPAS DE ORO (LP/INFOPESA)

Reissue of classic Peruvian psychedelic chicha LP, originally issued in 1975 and remastered from the original tapes of the legendary Infopesa label. Includes Spanish-English liner notes. "Discover the exotic guitar-driven music of Los Mirlos' best-selling album 'Los Charapas De Oro'. A cult-classic reissued for the first time in 43 years sounding as fresh as if time stood still." ~Alberto Maraví (original LP producer).

CAUDAL - FIGHT, CRY, FIGHT (LP/DRONE ROCK)

This record is the completion of a loose trilogy comprised of three full-length releases, all of which were recorded at Golden Retriever Studios in Berlin and feature album artwork by the Irish artist Eoin Llewellyn. It differs slightly from the 'Forever In Another World' (Oaken Palace Records) and 'Ascension' (Consouling Sounds) albums with a focus on shorter and more tightly structured songs though still featuring the trio's habitual post-rock, experimental and krautrock sounds. John McBain returns to provide his impeccable mastering skills.

GRIP WEEDS - HOUSE OF VIBES (LP/SUGARBUSH)

Their classic debut 2004 album repressed on high quality 140 gram audiophile vinyl, limited to only 400 copies with a full colour insert. The New Jersey band's raucous blend of Cheap Trick's power chords, The Byrds' ethereal jangle and CSNY's airy harmonies was different, half a decade too early for the New York-based garage revival of the early '00s, and a decade or so too late to be in sync with the West Coast's Paisley Pop movement. No wonder this self-recorded, self-released gem of the power pop art fell on mostly deaf ears, lauded by a few Jersey visionaries, hailed in Germany but completely ignored by commercial radio and MTV.

SNAILS (UK) - SAFE IN SILENCE (LP/FERAL CHILD)

Repress by the band themselves of 500 copies on blue vinyl. The debut-LP from Bristol's Snails is a beautifully consistent work which more than builds on the early promise shown on the band's two 45s for The Great Pop Supplement label. "Succulently wrapped in a classically toned pop vintage that cools with a deceptively soft stroke of '60s psych pop bubble grooves." ~The Sunday Experience.

SPACE LADY - ON THE STREET OF DREAMS (LP/BONGO JOE)

Transcendentally beautiful, The Space Lady's music is returning to Earth. Transmitting messages of peace and harmony, The Space Lady began her odyssey on the streets of Boston in the late '70s, then San Francisco ten years later, playing versions of contemporary pop music with an accordion and dressed flamboyantly. Following the theft and destruction of her accordion, The Space Lady invested in a then-new Casio keyboard, complete with a phase shifter and headset mic, birthing an otherworldly new dimension to popular song that has captured the imaginations of the underground and its leading exponents ever since.

TRIPTIDES - VISITORS (BLACK) (LP/REQUIEM POUR UN)

After the acclaimed 'Azur' (2015) and 'Afterglow' (2017), Triptides are already back with their sixth album! With 'Visitors', the LA based band is probably delivering its most accomplished album yet. 'Visitors' deepen the exploration started with 'Azur', digging more profoundly into fifty years of psychedelic pop music with their trademarked pristine and charming melodies. However, the finer production and musical arrangements shows a real gap in the band recording skills and maturity: the songs of Glenn Bringman and Josh Menashe never chimed that beautifully and accomplished. A truely great accomplishment for a band that never stops to progress since its early days. For fans of The Byrds, Temples, Real Estate, Levitation Room, The Beach Boys, Cleaners From Venus, Allah-Las, Mild High Club, Todd Rundgren.

TWINK - THINK PINK III (LP/VINCEBUS ERUPTU)

The third chapter on the "THINK PINK" saga! This time the psychedelic living legend TWINK (Tomorrow, Pretty Things, Pink Fairies, Stars, ...) delights the audience with an electro-acoustic jewel: 9 songs on a limited edition of 500 pink vinyls plus hand-numbered exclusive poster.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL

VARIOUS - GRAVEYARD TRAMPS EAT THE FORBIDDEN .... (10"/STAG-O-LEE)

...CITY DOGFOOD' - 2x10". Nearly 30 years ago, a now legendary LP by the name of 'Forbidden City Dogfood' was unleashed on an unsuspecting public. The release on Vip Vop Recs spawned many imitators such as 'Wavy Gravy', '4 Hairy Policemen' et al and paved the way for the equally legendary 'Purple Knif Show'. What few folk knew was that 'Forbidden City Dogfood' was actually less than half of the compilation made by Lux Interior. Now, for the very first time, the entire recording is available, weighing in at well over an hour of crazy, whacky sounds from the Maestro of Mad himself. Remastered from the original source, these obscure rockabilly, surf and R&B tracks are interspersed with B-movie trailer clips and wigged out voice overs. This one won't be around for long, so get it while you can. TRACKS: 01. John Buck & The Blazers - Forbidden City 02. The Kingpins - Ungawa 03. Florence Pepper - China Rock 04. Melodic garage folk-pop for fans of Woods and Quilt. Volage's 2018 eight-track release is both fresh and intense, making it the perfect companion for the first proper days of spring.

YE NUNS - NUN MORE BLACK (LP/CROCODILE)

Previously released in 2014 on the Tuff Enuff label, this LP by London's finest all girl Monks tribute band Ye Nuns has been out of print for quite a while, and rarely comes up for sale. The LP grinds, grooves and assaults. Recorded in 2 days on good old fashioned tape, it has proper tunes and moments of sonic attack, along with lashings of righteous ire, which you can dance to. It's bad ass garage rock and roll played with flair, experience and total confidence, with unexpected psychedelic twists and turns. Ye Nuns feature ex-members of Thee Headcoatees, Mambo Taxi, Echobelly, The Priscillas, Gay Dad, The A Lines, Curve and The Phantom Pregnancies. SIDE 1: 1. Higgle-Dy-Piggle-Dy 2. Complication 3. POP/ROCK/WAVE/NOISE

MARIANI, DOM -& THE MAJESTIC KELP- - HI SEAS (LP/SUGARBUSH)

Taking its cue and influence from soft '60s surf sounds Dom Mariani's 2018 album also incorporates elements of Lee Hazlewood, Jack Nitzsche and sounds of exotica. Always prevalent, however, is Dom's twangy reverb drenched guitar. What makes this album stand out are the superb arrangements and an overwhelming air of mystery and wonder. Some of the tracks are so laid back as to be almost soporific but keep the listener hooked and awaiting the next surprising twist. The album is almost completely instrumental with a few vocals added here and there. Limited to 300 copies.

TH DA FREAK - THE HOOD (CD/HOWLIN' BANANA)

Th Da Freak is the solo project of Thoineau Palis, a Bordeaux-based slacker obsessed by the masters of '90s rock (Nirvana, Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr) and avant-garde pop composers from that era (R. Stevie Moore, Alex G, Sparklehorse, early Beck). Faithful to the DIY esthetic of his spiritual fathers, Thoineau records everything by himself, showing endless ingenuity in both composing and arranging catchy songs, drawing seamlessly from indie rock, dream pop, grunge, or garage rock.

PUNK/HARDCORE

OJO POR OJO - OJO POR OJO (LP/LA VIDA ES UN M)

The debut-LP by Ojo Por Ojo (meaning An Eye For An Eye) is an exercise in modern Mexican costumbrismo. Crude and primitive, the band's aural vomit is a sharp-eyed comment on the trip through the guts of the monster that living in Mexico City has become.

STIFFS - THE STIFFS (7"/SUPREME ECHO)

The Stiffs were supposed to have been Vancouver's first punk band to release a 7" back in 1978, but it never got released. Canadian punk rock anthems 'Fuck You' and 'Oh Canaduh' have been covered by so many bands that most people no longer know which group originally composed them. The Stiffs were a first wave Vancouver punk rock group with a short yet prolific existence that gave way to hardcore group Rabid and legendary punks The Subhumans. Many of the songs made famous by The Subhumans were first performed by The Stiffs. This EP features all three studio songs from The Stiffs' unreleased single, three more from a rehearsal done at Chuck Biscuits' house (DOA), and one from a demo recorded one day prior to the studio session. Fully restored from the original master tapes with a 4 page booklet packed with photos and their story. Limited to 500 copies.

WASTED LIVES - WASTED LIVES (7"/SUPREME ECHO)

Vancouver punk holy grail! Unlike any of their Vancouver contemporaries, Wasted Lives' music had an urgency about it - a vigorous hardcore edge meeting the progressive quirks of post-punk. The result was angular, poetic, wild and perfectly short lived. Featuring an all-star debut of musicians who made their mark in the Vancouver scene: Mary Armstrong (Modernettes), Colin Griffiths (U-J3RK5), Andy Graffiti (DOA, Private School, Modernettes, AKA, I Braineater), and mighty frontman Phil Smith (Corsage). Their full studio recordings skillfully remastered by local punk icon Ron Obvious. Includes generous booklet with individual members bios and images. Limited to 550 copies.

METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

TRITON WARRIOR - TATSI SOUND ACETATE (7"/SUPREME ECHO)

One of the earliest dark/heavy rock recordings of the Canadian 1970s. From the rediscovered one-copy-in-existence acetate of the original quartet recorded prior to vocalist Joel Cohen joining. Guitarist David Fromstein sings lead vocals on this haunting and eerie heavy rock smoker!! Proto-heavy metal all the way. Professionally transferred and digitally restored audio. Includes replica original logo cover, generous booklet with bio and images. Limited to 550 copies. TRACKS: 1. Satan's Train 2. Sealed In A Grave

MASS HYPNOSIA - (BLACK) TOXIFEROUS CYANIDE (LP/I HATE)

SIXES - METHISTOPHELES (CD/FORBIDDEN PLACE)

Sixes is a blackened doom/sludge unit based out of Southern California, whose mantra is "Worship Amps. Not Gods." Absolutely the heaviest release to date on Forbidden Place records. A sludgy meltdown of doom and gloom.

MEXICAN RADIO - MEXICAN RADIO (LP/RIP BEN LEE)

Mexican Radio, a synth punk trio out of Berlin, make an argument for an analog world in a digital age. When everyone else is playing guitars, they play cheap keyboards through distorted amps while singing post-punk songs about surreal Japanese advertisements ('Magic Eye'), Berlin nightlife ('White Trash', 'Techno Kitchen') and performance art ('Rest Energy 1980'). Featuring members of The Blood Arm and The Mokkers.
