COSMO JONES BEAT MACHINE - SKELETON ELEVATOR (LP/SVART)

On 'Skeleton Elevator', a hair-tingling, spine-popping, ribcage-rattling slab of twisted tundra boogie, Finland's Cosmo Jones Beat Machine have their bony fingers on the global pulse of underground rock'n'roll, invoking the spirits of Beefheart, the Fall and Funkadelic. Cosmo Jones Beat Machine have a history that spans over two decades and starts in the woods and the wild in eastern Finland. Over the years the band have lived through five album releases, countless lineup changes and furious live appearances around Scandinavia and Europe that have brought the band a minor cult following. 'Skeleton Elevator' is their sixth album altogether and the first in six years. The six years spent in cultivating the album now at hand have further tempered the band's trademark sound, which is comprised of primitive but captivating rhythms and a terrifying racket. The vocalist Pharaoh Pirttikangas' trademark raspy delivery, which has deepened over the years, weaves stories dug up from the Mississippi Delta in the pale moonlight and distilled through an eastern Finnish swamp. The album's Beefheartian clatter is at times spiced with influences from unexpected directions such as disco ('Minimal Brain Dysfunction Generation') and Funkadelic-style space funk ('Transformed'). The band recorded the bulk of the album during a 24-hour session without sleep, which only adds to the record's pleasantly unpolished, frantic edge.

FELLOWSHIP OF HALLUCINATORY VOYAGERS - (FOREST GREEN) THE IMAGINARY GALLERY (LP/FRG)

"It's been a very challenging nine months for most musicians, I've really missed the collaborations of working face to face with people, the adrenaline and creative rushes that they bring to our lives. At one point I was seriously considering the potential of learning morse code with my eyebrows as a new way of communicating with masks on! Pushing through the barriers of isolation is what music does and this project in particular has certainly engaged my brain cells. The premise was simple, I gave five pieces of music to the painter Rhiannon Jones, she listened to them and immersed herself in the music while she painted five oil paintings. Then the process was reversed and she sent me five paintings to write music too. You may have noticed there are eleven paintings and eleven tracks, a great example of the fact that nothing ever quite works out the way you thought it would." ~Pete Bingham. Limited to 75 copies on forest green vinyl, including 16 page full colour "gallery" booklet.

HEXVESSEL - DAWNBEARER (2LP) (LP/SVART)

Reissue! Hexvessel's debut album 'Dawnbearer' was released worldwide in 2011 on Svart Records and is considered to be an influential classic record of the modern "occult rock" revival. Highly popular with Hexvessel fans and unique in their catalogue, featuring guitars by Andrew McIvor (Code), violin work of Daniel Pioro (who works on Paul Thomas Anderson's soundtracks with Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead), the early production work of Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Paradise Lost), and guest vocals from Carl Michael Eide (Virus, Ved Buens Ende, Aura Noir). "Think Woven Hand, haunted '60s/'70s pastoral folk, or a darker riff on Midlake. Mat McNerney covers Clive Palmer's post-Incredible String Band crew C.O.B. and successfully transforms and darkens Paul Simon's 'Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes.' He quotes Crowley, Truman Capote, Isaac Babel, etc. Unlike black metal-ready folk, this is folk by a talented, ambitious black metal musician. But the energy's there. As is the atmosphere." ~Stereogum.

KEEPER OF ATLANTIS - 2 (LP/VINCEBUS ERUPTUM)

The Keeper of Atlantis is the solo project from Ramon LP4 Medina (ex-Linus Pauling Quartet and The Cryptographers guitarist). This is a collection of songs written and recorded January through September of 2020.

KUNGENS MAN - BRANNA TID (LP/CARDINAL FUZZ/ADANSONIA)

Limited so first come, first served! Kungens Mn from Stockholm, Sweden has been around as a musical unit since 2012. The roots as friends go way back though. Noises, impulses, fuck ups and improvised psychedelic jams with elements from kraut, lo-fi, punk, noise, shoegaze, free jazz and feel connected to the tradition of legendary Swedish improv rock such as Trd, Grs och Stenar, International Harvester and Prson Sound. "So much of the Kungens Man ethos is what I most love about the best music - they get together and play as their way of unloading the stress of a working week, locking in together in some dank rehearsal room, someone names a key to play in and Kungens Mn proceed to play as just for a few hours they lose themselves in the wonder of music and vibrations that you get when 6 brothers are connected to the outer limits. First and foremost, they play for the love of it - that others get to share the joy is our privilege. So via Adansonia, Cardinal Fuzz and Kungens Mn - Lean back, take a deep breath, and hear the cosmos of Kungens Mn unfold via these five LPs that we proudly bring your way. PLAY THEM LOUD AND PLAY THEM PROUD." All titles lovingly mastered for vinyl by Chris Hardman. Limited to 250 copies on black vinyl.

MAD FABLES - GET OFF (LP/VOID)

Reissue of rare 1977 album by this NJ band from the '70s in the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Little Feat vein. Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl with insert AND with a back cover design that the rare original didn't have. 8 original songs including the anthemic 'Headband'.

METAYER, ROXANE - ECLIPSE DES OCELLES (LP/MORC)

Born in France and currently residing in Brussels, Roxane Mtayer is truly a multidisciplinary artist. Learning the violin at a young age, she also developed herself as a visual artist, creating drawings, sculptures in uncommon materials as soap, and in recent years video. Her work as a musician is of an equally spontaneous nature. Though 'clipse Des Ocelles' is her debut album, she's been quite active the past couple of years in the duos Gebogen Ogen and Sage Alyte (with whom she released an LP on Vlek in early 2021). On her first solo LP, Roxane Mtayer fully explores the sonic possibilities of the violin, field recordings and folk oriented orchestration and melodies. The violin is often taking the melodic lead, but at the same time serves a drone background, but just as much a percussion instrument. In any case: the focus is definitely on the sound itself. She's not afraid to use effects, minimal percussion, whistles and the occasional hushed vocal to expand the sonic palette to a maximum effect, resulting in multilayered, semi-improvised and subtle meanderings, gently evolving around a tight core. Limited edition of 150 copies in a lush, full color cover, drawn and designed by Roxane herself. Recommended if you like Pefkin, The Iditarod, Sharron Kraus & Michael Tanner, R.O.T., Sage Alyte, Accident Du Travail, Laura Cannell, Kate Carr, Fursaxa, Burning Axis, field recordings and minimal compositions

OJM - (BLACK) LIVE AT THE ROCKET CLUB (LP/VINCEBUS ERUPTUM)

'Live At Rocket Club' captures this Italian stoner rock band in one of the best ever moments of its artistic life. It is the tour that promoted 'Volcano' album from 2010, which reached fame and success thanks to the production and mixing of Dave Catching (QOTSA, Desert Sessions, Eagles of Death Metal). Recorded by Martin Pollner in June 2011 at Rocket Club, Landshut, Germany. Comes in gatefold sleeve. Co-release with Go Down Records. Only a handful available, so first come, first served.

SONIC FLOWER - RIDES AGAIN (CORNETTO) (LP/HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS)

Repress of 150 copies on cornetto yellow with black stripes vinyl and different cover art. All the tracks on this 'Rides Again' album are unreleased studio material recorded after first album came out in 2005. At that time the band members had some troubles during recording, so after the recording sessions they broke up. These tracks were sleeping in the vault for more then fifteen years. The music is a mixture of psychedelic groove, rock, funk, and doom metal. For fans of Cactus, Grand Funk Railroad, Mountain, Sir Lord Baltimore, Captain Beyond, The Meters, Graham Central Station and Funkadelic. On the album you can find four original songs plus two cover tracks: 'Earthquake' from Graham Central Station and 'Stay Away' from The Meters.

SONIC FLOWER - SONIC FLOWER (STRIPED) (LP/HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS)

Repress of 150 copies on 3 colour striped vinyl: clear/white/blue, with different cover art. Sonic Flower were formed as a side project of Church Of Misery in 2001. Tatsu Mikami (bass) and at that time Church's guitarist Takenori Hoshi (guitar on Church Of Misery's second album 'The Second Coming'), teamed up to play more bluesy and non doomy instrumental heavy rock. They were influenced by famous '70s heavy rock bands like Cactus, Grand Funk Railroad, Groundhogs, Savoy Brown etc. Soon guitarist Arisa and drummer Keisuke Fukawa joined the band. In 2003, they released their self titled debut album on Japanese heavy rock label Leafhound Records. All instrumental bluesy heavy rock and improvised double guitar, they got a tons of good response from all over the world. They also played some shows as support for some foreign band's Japan appearances like Electric Wizard, Bluebird (Amen's side project), Acid King etc.

VERY PARANOIA - VERY PARANOIA (LP/WHO CAN YOU TRUST? RECORDS)

Very Paranoia formed in 2018 with the express intent of delivering short, sharp shocks of electrified rock and roll that simultaneously heralded both a "war on music" and offered a way forward using the scattered shards left behind on the sticky, rickety fields of battle and trapped in the structurally unsound masonry memory of those walls still standing around us. Composed of veterans of the sonic conflicts from the Annihilation Time/Lecherous Gaze/Hot Lunch/Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound divisions, the four of them huddled together in their San Francisco rehearsal room where they quickly hammered out an arsenal of crude missives designed to fire as roaring missiles into the heart of 2019. After whetting their attack, Very Paranoia removed from their squalid hovel and harangued an unsuspecting, but susceptible public with 25-minute blasts set off around their local strongholds. The band then traveled nearly 1000 miles to the Sonoran Desert where they set up camp at Midtown Island Studio in Tucson, Arizona. The Island's sole occupant and aural wizard Matt Rendon of the Resonars captured 15 tracks over three 10-hour stretches. 12 of these tracks were then transmitted to Tim Green at Louder Studios in the Valley of Grass, California, for mastering in early 2020 for the debut album on Who You Can Trust? Records.

SEAORM - OLKHON (CD/OCTOBERXART)

Seaorm is a group featuring Angel Ontalva and Arkady and Ivan Fedotov from Vespero. It's different then his other collaborations with Vespero, more like a power trio with electronics (kind of Berlin school) and some jazz rock here and there.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL

MESSIS, PAUL - WIN OR LOSE/PLEASE DON'T TELL ME (7"/MARKET SQUARE)

These are the first solo recordings done by Paul Messis since his 2018 long-player 'Songs Of Our Times'. Both these tracks were recorded by Paul in his livingroom during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown. The A-side is a psych-jangler very reminiscent of groups coming out of the Los Angeles and Bay area during late-'66 early '67, the song features Paul's usual social critique style interweaved with flourishes of reverb and jangle-heavy guitars, Prunes-esque tremolo and Farfisa organ. The B-side is a light affair; a sincere beat-pop ballad inspired by Nederbeat and Scandinavian groups such as The Mascots, Sages and The Motions. Each 45 comes housed in a Risograph fold-over sleeve and Market Square company sleeve and features an insert listing Paul's discography.

REVEREND BEAT-MAN - SURREAL FOLK BLUES TRASH, VOL. 2 (LP/VOODOO RHYTHM)

Repress! Here we have the third album release and the second in a trilogy called 'Surreal Folk Blues Gospel Trash', a series of gospel trash hymns from 2007, recorded with Olifr M. Guz at Star Track Studios in Switzerland along with his backing band Delaney Davidson on the drums and Mr. Butler on slide and harp and Guz plays the organs and some bass. For the song 'Blue Moon Of Kentucky' the Band Zeno Tornado and the Boney Google Brothers back him up, and some songs are strictly home recorded by himself. This is one of the best selling Reverend Beat-Man albums.

VARIOUS - STRANGE CREATURES (BLACK) (LP/RAVING POP BLAST)

'THE BEST OF REBELS VOLUME TWO' - Following on from 2020's 'Rebel Rousers (The Best Of Rebels Volume One)', here we have the second edition, and it's another fantastic compilation crammed full of garage, mod, r&b, surf, freakbeat, psych and rock and roll tracks. Each of these 'Rebels' compilations are fundraisers for different charities (in this case the RSPCA). Inspired by the 1980s collection 'Pebbles' which collected together '60s garage punk bands, most of whom would have vanished without trace if not for 'Pebbles' unearthing them and turning them into essential 'must haves', for lovers of raw, often cheaply recorded, guitar based music. 'Rebels' brings together like minded bands/artists from all over the world, who are doing it for love, with no glancing towards what's popular, or what the current musical fashions dictate. So here we have 16 bands, all different but all with a burning desire to play their own kind of rock and roll. From the garage '60s vibe of Leeds based The See No Evils, the wah-wah grooves of The DC Spectres and from Belgium, Thee Martian Boyfriends and Vice Barons to the Joe Meek style twangs of Diamond Daddios and the mod-flavour of (ex-Prisoners) Galileo 7, (ex-Makin' Time) The Deep Six and The Hurricanes (who bring back memories of The Purple Hearts). Bristol's very own Joe James & His Pariahs, conjure up an authentic mid '60s freakbeat sound, while also from Bristol, Rauschenberg get all space-out. The Jack Cades offer up their 'reverb on 10' take on The Byrds jangle sound, and two young 14 year olds from Devon -The Lysping Mynor Byrds- mash up a surf classic with a Clash solo! And lucky for us someone pressed record on the cassette recorder! The self declared 'Best Live Band In Britain', London Based The Fallen Leaves (with drummer Brett Ascott formally of The Chords) tell us the tale of the 'Motorcycle Girl' in an exclusive live recording. Meanwhile Coventry's Sawdust Caesars have been dragged back from the grave screaming with their lo-fi-acid-pop-psych, and the don't move or you'll miss it 'Flower Pop Show'. While from up in Scotland we have the most wonderful The Nettelles who mix their garage punk with a kind of lo-fi-C86 rumble and back down to Taunton where you'll possibly bump into Palooka 5, as they'll most likely be wearing camouflage gear! Play this loud, and often!

POP/ROCK/WAVE/NOISE

RAWFRUCHT - RAWFRUCHT (LP/SUB ROSA)

Recorded in late 1996 and released in early 1997, this first album from the power trio Rawfrcht (2 guitars plus percussions), defies and questions the definition of genres, eras and musical movements. Ranging from minimal meditative dronish soundscapes, perfect for introspective journeys, to more 'groovy' moments, from noise rock to free rock-but-not-postrock unstable patterns - sometimes even within a single track - this album is a ride on undefined roads, no maps allowed, just instinct and the energy to always go further and deeper into charting new sonic territories. After the release of this first untitled album, names like those of Marc Ribot, Sonic Youth or King Crimson were frequently associated to it.

PUNK/HARDCORE

ASSAULT & BATTERY (DC) - THE COMPLETE SESSION, MAY 1981 (LP/ALONA'S DREAM)

DC hardcore punk legends Assault & Battery featured members of the original lineup of Government Issue, Artificial Peace, Marginal Man and Savage Beliefs. This first ever official release of their only studio recording - expertly transferred from the original 4-track master - documents a vital group in the first flourishing of the DC scene. It contains the band's previousey bootlegged songs, plus never before heard takes! Limited Edition 160 gram metallic gold vinyl (500 pressed) in a 20pt board jacket with printed inner sleeve with liner notes by the band.

EVIL I - OFFICIAL BOOTLEG (LP/ALONA'S DREAM)

First ever official release of 1983 suburban hardcore masterpiece! These songs were recorded in west suburban Chicago in 1983 by Lombard, Illinois based Evil I. This record perfectly captures the spirit of the first wave of hardcore punk. Cutting vocals, tight rhythm, shredded guitar and a take no prisoners attitude make for a timeless hardcore document. Originally distributed by the band at shows, it remained largely unheard outside the Chicago scene until now. Mastered from the original tape and pressed into 160 gram green vinyl (500 pressed) in a 20pt board jacket with printed inner sleeve, lyric insert and liner notes by the band.

TOY DOLLS - (BLACK) BARE FACED CHEEK (LP/RADIATION)

By the time Toy Doys issued 'Bare Faced Cheek' (1987) as the inaugural LP of their own Nit Records label, bassist Flip had been replaced by Dean Robson and drummer Happy Bob by Martin Yule, with Olga still the vocal focal point. 'Yul Brynner Was A Skinhead' is the best of the bunch, 'Neville Is A Nerd' and 'Quick To Quit The Quentin' are typical Toy Dolls punk piss-takes, and there are digs at a hotel and a local launderette too. Everything is delivered in lightning-fast bursts of energy, poking fun at all and sundry, the Toy Dolls punk way.

TOY DOLLS - (BLACK) DIG THAT GROOVE BABY (LP/RADIATION)

Hailing from Sunderland in England's industrial northeast, the Toy Dolls infused their take on punk with ample doses of working-class humour, the three-chord format a launching pad for witty originals and clever cover tunes. 1983 debut 'Dig That Groove Baby' captures the group at their finest, their twisted rendition of kiddies tune 'Nellie The Elephant' topping the indie charts; the title track is an infectious singalong, while 'Spiders In The Dressing Room' and 'Glenda And The Test Tube Baby' are more irreverent tongue in cheek, all delivered in the peculiar androgynous accent of frontman Michael "Olga" Algar. Essential!

TOY DOLLS - (BLACK) TEN YEARS OF TOYS (LP/RADIATION)

To celebrate their first decade of existence, Sunderland's ironic punk trio, Toy Dolls, issued retrospective 'Ten Years Of Toys' in 1989, but rather than using the standard-issue "Greatest Hits" formula, the group chose to re-cut nuggets from their career so far, using the then-current line-up of frontman Olga, bassist Dean Robson and drummer Martin Yule. Thus, tracks like 'Dougy Giro,' 'Fiery Jack' and 'Glenda And The Test Tube Baby' are given new leases of life with a brighter, fuller sound and the inclusion of hard-to-find tracks such as 'I've Got Asthma' and 'Tommy Kowey's Car' add to the appeal.

INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC

MSBR - 2005 (LP/STEINKLANG)

Legendary Japanese noise act MSBR live in 2005. 'Munich-Maastricht' was released for the Densatzu live aktion 2005. Side 2 ('Live In Maastricht 03.02.2005') was one of Koji Tano's last live concerts before he passed away. Limited to 100 copies.

MUSLIMGAUZE MEETS THE ROOTSMAN - AMAHAR (2LP) (LP/VIA PARIGI)

First vinyl issue of these raw experimental dub collaborations between Muslimgauze and The Rootsman, written, recorded and mixed at Third Eye Studio, Bradford, UK between 1997 and 1998. Originally released on CD by Russian label Aquarellist. Limited to 500 copies.

HIMUKALT - KNIFE THROUGH THE SPINE (CD/COLD SPRING)

Primitive, old school industrial, with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. This is the first CD edition of Himukalt's cult 2018 LP (originally released on Malignant Records), remastered and including bonus material from the same recording sessions. "There's something uniquely old school and primitive at work here, capturing the claustrophobic, unsettled and fragmented sound of early Illusion of Safety or mid-late '80s industrial on a whole, contemporising it, and filling it in with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. 'Knife Through The Spine' delivers a steady cascade of abstract sounds, festering with grinding pneumatic throb, coarse frequency blasts and sputtering electronic oscillations, with spliced snippets of processed, flanged vocals and a general sense of social anxiety and disaffection. A unique and challenging take on heavy electronics for fans of Puce Mary, She Spread Sorrow, Atrax Morgue". Himukalt is the Nevada-based project of the enigmatic Ester Krkkinen. Presented in a 6-panel digipak.

BLUES/COUNTRY/OLDIES

HONSHU WOLVES - COSMIC CREATURE CAPTURE (LP/VOODOO RHYTHM)

From the back alleys in Berne, Switzerland, chiseled into the foggy cold mountains, Maryanne Shewolf and her pack sing their very own trippy psychedelic desert gospel delta space blues. She creates her music inspired by live shows of Spiritualized, Make Up, Alan Vega, Royal Trux or her longtime partner's band Roy & the Devil's Motorcycle. She also gets her inspiration from PJ Harvey, The Staple Singers, Solki, Nina Simone or Jessie Mae Hemphill whom she admires all because they sing the blues and tell stories from the point of view of independent strong and yet fragile women.

REGGAE/DUB/SKA/ROCKSTEADY

DENTON, DELROY/SKY NATION - SUFFER'S CHILD/SUFFER'S VERSION (7"/ONLYROOTS)

This is not a compilation. It consists half of originals and half remakes of older material. Produced by Alvin Ranglin and recorded at Channel One Recording Studio with The Revolutionaries ca. 1977. It also contains a few 45's ('Jailer', 'Border'). Originally released on GG's in 1981.

REVOLUTIONARIES - ROOTS MAN DUB (LP/ONLYROOTS)

Reissue of 1978 dub classic.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC/AMBIENT/D’N’B/TRIPHOP

SZAIO - OBRAZ (12"/BORDELLO A PARIGI)

Szaio is the anagrammatic alias of Toronto based Polish Canadian production designer/musician Zosia Mackenzie. Her debut album, 'Obraz' (Portrait) was recorded in a home studio, swapping sounds and sequences with Roland drum machines and Soviet-era Formanta Polivoks devices. Comes on limited gold coloured vinyl.

HOME CURRENT - NOT OUR KIND OF VERTIGO (LP/POLYTECHNIC YOUTH)

The constantly creative and busy project of Luxembourg based, Danish DJ and musician Martin Jensen, this -in PY's humble opinion- is his best record yet. Martin himself describes the album as "a collection I did specifically with PY in mind. Dom (PY head) and I had often discussed a shared love of private pressing electronic LPs from the '70s, and I wanted to create something immediate, sparse and functional; with a tip of the cap to those small run, private press records from the day. Many of which would often sink like a stone, only to be rediscovered by eager diggers, many years later; I'd always imagined, in a dusty old Copenhagen attic!" The album was once again produced by Antony Ryan at Red Red Paw and features 8 tracks of fabulous exploratory electronica, slightly more lo-fi than recent HC output, featuring that nod to the past (drum machines etc.) whilst cleverly maintaining a consistently fresh modern feel. Described by Concrete Islands as "having been fashioned specifically with honouring Polytechnic Youth's unrepentant penchant for late '70s/early-'80s electronic minimalism; whilst still retaining his unshakeable sense of finesse and knack for grooves - this eight-part collection indubitably benefits from its stripped-down and sprightly tooling." A lovely record, released in a pressing of 300 glass | clear vinyl copies, expected to sell out super quick.
