0374676 LP LHC 122 4035177001228 LONGHAIR	ALCATRAZ - VAMPIRE STATE BUILDING Official reissue of this German rock classic album from 1971 by Hamburg quintet Alcatraz, coming with an additional track, recorded in 1972 at the Windrose Dumont studio in Hamburg. Alcatraz largely instrumental music was related to Miles Davis "In A Silent Way", early King Crimson and Soft Machine. Most successful was the 12 minutes "Simply Headphone Mind". The 13 minutes title track was a long improvisation with lots of fuzz guitar. According to Dag Erik Asbjornsen "Vampire State Building" is currently one of the most intensive German albums in the jazz-rock genre, making full use of the dynamic sound range (and with that special krautrock feel). The Freeman brothers (The crack in the cosmic egg) write that the music features fuzzed guitars and effects overdose in a heavy bluesy over-the-top Krautrock akin to Frumpy and Nosferatu. Ten years after the release of the CD-Version (Long Hair, LHC 14) the recordings were newly remastered from the original master tapes for this vinyl-version. Banda Bassotti, born in 1981 in Roman sites, were a group of comrades and friends who began to organize actions of solidarity with the oppressed peoples like the Palestinians, the Nicaraguan and Salvadoran what resulted with the construction of schools and housing. In 1987 the boys decided to form within this "Work Brigade" a band that was inspired by the great socially commited punk rock and ska bands like The Clash and The Specials. In 1991, together with other groups involved in the Roman scene they were starring in the project "Dances and Defend", where Banda contributed the pieces Wake and All Are Equal For The Law. After the success of these early pieces Banda Bassotti decided to record an album: Children of the same anger, distinguished by belonging to the working class and its social struggles and detachment from the corrupted Italian political system; themes dear to the Banda Bassotti present in all their albums, always socially committed. 0372744 CD BC 302 9789490931025 BOMBAY CONNECTI	SINGH, CHARANJIT - SYNTHESIZING: TEN RAGAS TO A DISCO Until recently it wasn't much more than some rumours on the web: a 1982 released LP called TEN RAGAS TO A DISCO BEAT containing Kraftwerk-like acid house music, years before the genre was invented. So it turns out, the record was no rumour. Only a few hundred copies of the LP were ever pressed, and only a handful seem to have survived. Moreover, the LP outdoes all expectations. Performed on the synths that would later define Acid House, the Roland TB-303 and TR-808, the album sounds light years ahead of its time with its repetitive beats and hypnotic electronic melodies. Its maker, Bollywood session musician Charanjit Singh, set out to translate ancient Indian classical Ragas to the modern synthesizer and in doing so seems to have invented House music along the way. The 10 tracks make a consistent listen from A to Z. Defining V3CTORS, lets say they are moving into what has been called 'Djent' which is just a lot of groove metal, with touches of hardcore and in the case of V3CTORS, playing with aggressive vocals and melodic at the same time. Their compositions are complex issues but resolved in short, as short as 5 minutes, with choruses and ultimately devastating great songs.
