The mighty Sun Araw locking horns with the Spacemen this time round. The Spacemen side features the rare vocal demo version to "Thats Just Fine"- the instrumental for which first appeared as a B side track to 1988s "Take Me To The Other Side" 12" single on Glass. This rare out-take with vocals sounds great given the 45 treatment! On the flip, Cameron Stallones Sun Araw offers up a fabulous take on the Jaybird Coleman classic blues piece "Im Gonna Cross That River of Jordan". An incredible version, heavy on dense layers of glorious feedback, coated with sweet 2 chord keyboard and heavy dubbed vocals. Totally stunning and eternally building over 9 incredible minutes. Released in 1970, the album delivers a really strong organ-led hard psychedelic sound that reaches unexpected quality from such an obscure released. Recorded in the same Studio as the famous Lyd album, Sunwest Studios in Hollywood, the band drop 10 tracks full of heavy psychedelic guitars, swirling organ and dual guitar work, and reaches at points a strong resemblance to the Doors' best moments. 0375218 3xLP 505971 5052205059715 INSIDE OUT	KAIPA - VITTJAR (2LP+CD) 2x180 gram vinyl plus CD version of their 2012 studio album. The unique music of KAIPA constantly continues to evolve but no matter what direction it takes it always carries a profound breath from the innermost depths of the ancient Swedish primeval forest. This time they even use the Swedish language in the title track to further express and stress these close bonds with their mother country. Seemingly at odds with the warmth of the music, Vittjar was made using several different studios, with the musicians recording their parts separately. As the motor of the band, Lundin called the shots with regards to how the songs were assembled, giving credence to the old school belief that present day technology - no matter how useful it may be in the studio - is no substitute for experience. Lundin is as experienced as they come, having recorded his first single in 1965. Vittjar ultimately puts Kaipa outside the genre box. Or perhaps the album gives new and true meaning to the "progressive" stamp. 0375303 LP SWDDL 729 SWEET DANDELION	SAROFEEN AND SMOKE - SAROFEEN AND SMOKE Hailing from New York, the band was led by singer Anne Sarofeen, who's described in the album's own liner notes as "a lady both fierce and gentle, whose music knows truth, tragedy and beauty". We don't really know if she's fierce or gentle, but her incredible voice has often been compared to that of Janis Joplin, Ellen McIlwaine and Mariska Veres (of Dutch stars Shocking Blue); unfortunately rock history is cruel and she never received the credit she deserves for being right at the top with other unique female singers. She has also composed half of the songs on the album. The album offers 9 songs in a Bluesy, Heavy Psychedelic vein, which to a certain extent remind us much of Jefferson Airplane. Most of the songs are the band's own compositions, with the only exceptions being a take on Martha Velez' 'Swamp Man' and a cover of Rocky Mountain Blues, well chosen covers that fit perfectly the band's identity. Certainly recommended to fans of Janis Joplin, Affinity's Linda Hoyle, Jefferson Airplane or basically any strong, dominating female voice in Psychedelic Rock! "Come on Baby" is now being called "The Holy Grail of Garage Punk". From Iowa City, Iowa. Second of two 45s, this from 1966. Both sides feature screaming punk. "Come on Baby" is full of raw energy and fast trashy ringing guitar. "Stick Around" is an original composition, blues/soul crossover with an intense break. 0375138 2xLP LARMFW 0 FAREWELL	LARM - COMPLETE CAMPAIGN FOR MUSICAL DESTR Holland's Lärm was a band that had something for everybody: sincere leftist politics, a strong straight edge philosophy, a lighthearted, humorous attitude, and most importantly devastating music played at never-before-heard speeds. They played "extreme noise" style: short, fast, and out of tune. The band known as Lärm evolved from other projects sometime around 1981. The line-up was Olav on drums, Paul on guitar, Jos on bass, and Dorien on vocals. The three boys had previously been in a band called the Sextons. Their 1981 demo was recorded before Olav had a drumset, so he played the chairs. The original Lärm line-up went by the name Total Chaoz. Soon after the name change they added a second singer, Menno, to the mix. Paul would later say that the Lärm philosphy was "start a fucking band no matter if you can play your instruments or not." That DIY spirit was part of what made Lärm so special. Because they were still learning their instruments, they adopted a style of playing that centered on playing very fast, noisy, short songs. At their first show the sound man asked them when they were going to fix the guitar amp and start playing actual songs. When they answered that they liked the guitar sound and had just played three songs, he shut off the PA and went to get something to eat. Thanks to their amazing records and extensive touring with the likes of Heresy, Lärm became a huge name in international hardcore. The band members were beginning to question their future however. They were uncomfortable with being treated like punk rockstars at shows, and felt that the trendy, apolitical hardcore scene was ignoring their messages about revolution, personal choices, and animal rights in a blind thirst for really fast music. By the time they decided to change their name to Seein Red, Menno was leaving to finish his legal education in Amsterdam. Menno was last heard from practicing law in a low income neighborhood in that city. The other three have continued on as Seein Red, and although they initially tried to distance themselves from the ultra-fast pace of their old band, they eventually started writing faster material - admitting that it's in their blood. The Bait is their new recording, a seven track 12" including a rendition of ANTI-CIMEX's Sister Daylight. It was recorded in Belgium during August of 2011 at the end of one of their European escapades and mixed and mastered at various locations in UK during the following 12 months. Lyrically and musically Nailbiter are often compared to PAINTBOX, DEATH SIDE and late era ANTI-CIMEX. They paint bleak visions of day to day existence in this miserable world. The 10" Bomber Hair is the result of making songs around certain themes Belchsingersongrinder was fascinated by, also in combination with his visual art; moral, occupation of territory, colonisation, punishment, acceptible ways of arrogance. The tapeloops have a big role on 'A Shiny Trunk' (A-1) and 'The Right Tools' ( B-1) are build around randomly isolated sound fragments from cassettes with found footage or rehearsing sessions. Digitally cleaned first and then copied to reel to reel tape, cut into a loop and slipping through my hands by bottleneck while I played the song. Funny how the bluesy elements are clearly present in both songs. 'Birth in a Locker' (A-2) is an airy, drumless falset-sung song, in way of working a glimpse towards Belchsingersonggrinder's free-form work last years. 'Bomberhair' was originally named 'Bomberhair=' ('Bomber Harris') at first, after the RAF-officer who was responsible for the carpet-bombing on German cities. Towards the end of the song he uses a selfbuilt device, which is a tape trigger synth, on an impulse, a cassette tape is running for an adjustible duration (screams, animal sounds, metal sounds). And also a circuit-bent bit-shredder put on feed-back. The end of the song are crickets from New Zealand, recorded at night while I was camping in the wilderness. These songs were recorded among 10 other pieces at the end of August 2011 at the Rocketdogstudio in Westervoort, the Netherlands by Egbert Hotz, who did also the mastering. Two intense days. Very little overdubs, just a few words.

It's something like Rahsaan Roland Kirk playing two different melodies against a drone, except Kirk did it on three horns and Stetson is doing it on one. 'New History Warfare, Vol. 1' is a truly impressive, fully formed, and highly individual musical statement. 'Regel' is finally reissued for the first time on vinyl and remastered under the supervision of the Milanese artist. The record consists of two untitled tracks. Mostly track one is made up of manipulated noises with some synthesizer or theremin phrases added for detail and contrast. The second track is a bit more focused, with less noise, more recognizable melodic content and less invasive loops. The music is unlinear and effortlessly multilayered and the sound focuses on texture rather than structure. Here you can see M.B.'s early phase as a sick, cancerous organism eating itself out. Now, more than 20 years since its original release, and nearly 10 years since a remastered edition with updated packaging was issued, a third version, complete with a second disc, is being released in a limited edition of 333 signed and numbered copies. "Heresy" was recorded in various subterranean locations and manipulated in the studio with Andrew Lagowski providing engineering and additional programming. It was the first Lustmord album to feature extensive sampling and computer assisted sound design. Recent improvements in sound technology have permitted Lustmord to remaster and improve on the original recordings for this third version. "Heresy - The SIXTYSTONE Edition" celebrates the 22nd anniversary of the album. It consists of a newly remastered "Heresy" together with "Heretic", a second disc of the early versions and alternate mixes that lead to "Heresy". It looked like he was going to have a long and promising career, when suddenly in the mid-sixties he gave up music altogether and disappeared from the jazz world. Thankfully, before doing so he recorded several sessions, including two as leader for Blue Note in 1957. This quintet session (recorded with the all-star rhythm section of Kenny Burrell, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, and Danny Richmond) is considered to be the better of the two. Here Jenkins also gets an opportunity to show off his flair for composition as well, contributing three of the six pieces found on the album ("Motif", "Sharon" and "Chalumeau").
