First of all, lets say that "Chris Clubber" is a dancefloor oriented pop jerk monster! It opens on a supra electric intro with furious garage guitar, superb Hammond organ and an outer space moogy bass line. This non-stop killer groove features here and there some juicy eerie breaks with Hammond and moog long enough to take a deep breath before running back again to shake your body! On the flip, "Malyflows Garden" could illustrate an LSD trip of Luke Skywalker, an intergalactic investigation of James Bond or a lost scene from Barbarella! The beat is slow and meditating (are Martians planning a global Earth attack?), the orchestration is luxurious (did Cucumber hire John Barry for this?) and the psychedelic & outer space feeling is given by the interventions of the guitar, the organ and, surely, more than a hundred Moogs playing together! In December 1999 New Zealand's DATURA, one of Australasia's most promising Acid-Stoner-doom bands split up. After releasing the amazing "Visions for the Celestial" the band trailed of into oblivion never to be seen again, only Craig Williamson, the bass player & vocalists survived....continuing alone as one of the country's best known psychedelic artifacts LAMP OF THE UNIVERSE. In 2008, feeling the need to get back into a more "heavy stoner acid rock" direction Williamson formed ARC OF ASCENT, recruiting firstly Guitarist Matt Cole-Baker and then Drummer John Strange to complete the line-up. "Circle of the Sun" is the bands debut album and continues onwards almost exactly where Daturas "Visions" left off. The heaviness is still present, but there is an added otherworldly texture dwelling inside, the guitars are dense and direct in feel -with an Egyptian sounding slant to Matt Cole-Bakers cosmic solos, the drumming powerful, solid and dynamic...and Williamson's "Eastern" vibes raise their head in almost every song, vocally, with the extra exotic instruments he brings to the table, and the music he has written for the group. Titles such as "Universal Form" & "Cosmic Eye" re-enforce the eastern-mystic feel the band creates, lyrically recalling Williamson's Lamp of the Universe style, blending almost seamlessly with the majestic heaviness and trippy interludes that the band creates...Take a hit, re-call your inner light, and enjoy the sound of a new beginning....the time is now.... 'Uncanny Valley' doesn't veer entirely clear of the sorts of songs and hooks that earned Birds of Avalon a, well, flock in the first place. But it does suspend them in a rarified, hypercolor air that has more to do with dub music and jam bands -albeit, happily, those of the German '70s variety- than Deep Purple. The band misdirects often, shifting through rhythms and tones, working more for atmosphere than anthems. Audacious instrumental interludes, intros and outros blend those environments, creating an album in the most classic sense. That is, this isn't a collection of moments tied together. Black Cat Bones were a typical British blues rock band playing late 60's raw progressive blues in the same vein as Chicken Shack and Ten Years After. Two of its original members, guitarist Paul Kossoff and drummer Simon Kirke, would later form their own band (Free). When they felt they had taken Black Cat Bones as far as it could go, they both left before the band even cut their album in 1969 (entitled "Barbed Wire Sandwich"). The semi-pro band came from Acton, West London and were discovered by Patrick Campbell-Lyons of Nirvana, playing in a local youth club. Dungen's fourth studio album extends the acclaimed Swedish outfit's sound past psychedelia into something far more rare. Moving beyond mere stylistic concerns, 4 finds Gustav Ejstes' focus on the extremes of Dungen's sound separating into two entities. Blazing, raw guitar workouts have their own time and place, but now, so do stirringly orchestrated, jazz-cooled compositions with cinematic undertones. Bandleader Gustav Ejstes has made many allusions to his creative process as it likens to that of a hip-hop producer. On 4, that process is more evident than ever, both in the feel of each piece, and in the sense of intuition and control within the members of the group. New drummer Johan Holmegard joins guitarist Reine Fiske and bassist Mattias Gustavsson, while Ejstes steps away from guitar for the entire album, focusing on the piano as his lead instrument. Together, they have honed a classic and seamless sound, constructed with lavish studio flourishes and moving, narrative arrangements, and yet able to toughen up to tear veins of fierce blues-psych instrumentals up from the surface. The ten tracks on 4 comprise Dungen's most concentrated effort to date, beats surging forth and atmosphere changing as their sound continues to evolve. Every song here runs under five minutes, pushing the group to introduce confident melodies and arresting ambiance in tighter frameworks. Gauging from the results, this challenge has done them well. The original, and previously only available 2004 vinyl LP pressing, was incorrectly manufactured from digital master instead of analogue, had several defects and didnt sound at all as intended. East of Eden from Bristol in England played elaborate progressive rock with saxophone, violin, and flute. Their only hit, "Jig-a-jig", ist not typical for their music. The band can look back on a history of eleven long-players, not counted the many compilations. On Tuesday, 22nd October 1970, the group performed in the Gruga hall at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival. The event was recorded semi-professionally by the promoters. The recordings were mastered now in a first-class sound studio with great effort and care. The sound, however, is naturally not as good as that of the studio LPs. The 12-page deluxe insert in LP size contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros, a gig list, many informations about the festival as well as a personal retrospective report by Dave Arbus. This record has become a classic. Released in 1977 in an edition of 500 vinyl copies and quoted now for about 300 euros, it is the most wanted opus of German symphonic rock. With two keyboarders, incl. Mellotron. The attentive and expensive recordings meet nowadays high demands and were processed from the original master tape to LP. The first two tracks are with female vocals, the rest are instrumentals. The Eyes of Blue's debut album is a rather typical late-'60s psychedelic effort, Chunks of British harmony pop, soul, trendy Eastern-tinged psychedelia, and early progressive classical-dipped melodies. The Welsh group did have a more organ-based sound than many of their U.K. peers, and the band's keyboardist, Phil Ryan, has admitted that Graham Bond was a big influence on his style on this album. Bond's input wasn't limited to this; he also wrote two of the songs, 'Crossroads Of Time' and 'Love Is The Law' (though they were credited to "D. Fotheringay was the legendary English folk group around singer Sandy Denny who died a long time ago. She had become well-known with the groups Strawbs and Fairport Convention and was elected best British singer several times. At the end of 1969, she founded Fotheringay together with four friends. They could immediately sign a contract with the Island label. On Friday, 23rd October 1970, they had a gig at the third Essen Pop & Blues festival in the Gruga Hall. The concert was then recorded semi-professionally by the host. Now, the tapes have been elaborately re-mastered by Fotheringay guitarist Jerry Donahue who got the most out of the sound that was technically possible. Gäa, a band from the Saarland region in Germany, played progressive rock with German lyrics. Their band name derives from the ancient Greek gods, for whom Gaia was the goddess of the earth and fertility. The group's only LP, 'Auf Der Bahn Zum Uranus', was a limited edition release on the Kerston label in 1974. Copies today change hands for about 600 EUR. It is a mature and well-balanced album, the artistic value of which long remained undiscovered. The tasteful cover was designed by Eduard Bell, the brother of Gaa bassist Peter Bell. There were several re-issues of the album -LPs as well as CDs-, but unfortunately not all of them were legitimate releases. Magic Castles had self-released three albums (two in 2009), all of which are currently out of print, before fans landed a You Tube video in the hands of the legendary Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) via the We Are The Radio/Dead TV experimental social media phenomenon in 2010. On hearing the tracks Anton quickly asked the band to sign to his label which they did in 2011. Magic Castles are a band from Minneapolis Minnesota that was abruptly formed in 2006 by Jason Edmonds, with the help of guitar-ace Jeremiah Doering and a rotating cast of players and friends. Lyrically concerned with trolls, golden birds, and other creatures conjured from the lands of the mushroomed mind, the band takes a journey-is-better-than-the destination approach. Inspired by Spacemen 3, Skygreen Leopards, Galaxie 500, the band combines warm Farfisa drones with hazy guitars and bright vocal harmonies to create something similar without sounding redundant. Whether it be storybook psych, mildewy dark garage, or forest folk, the band crafts its songs using an expansive approach that deftly oscillates between traditional song form and stretched-out, slowly unwinding abstract passages, managing both poles without a smudge of awkwardness. Great albums by The Black Angels & Black Mountain have harbored the resurgence of psychedelic drone rock, and the psychedelic folk revival catapulted Devendra Banhart and Fleet Foxes to stardom - somewhere in the middle lies the sound of Magic Castles. We were very honoured to get to open the Roadburn Festival on April 15th 2010, with the first set in the Bat Cave. They had some trouble getting the people in so it was not that crowded when we started but by 20 mins into the concert it was totally packed with enthusiastic psychedelic rock fans. As we play totally improvised music, one never knows what will be captured but on this day, we came out strong and played an amazing concert. The artwork and song titles are inspired by the fact that the volcano in Iceland exploded the day before this gig and caused chaos. Many bands could not get to the festival and we were stuck in Holland for two extra days with no way to get back home. Ms. Gaskins instrument is her voice, which is the sound of velvet, flowing and...feminine. Adding to that the string pyrotechnics of Cusack-who can play both very avant-garde, as well as down home fiddlin in style, weaving in, above and amongst the songs. Here its difficult not to run out of superlatives, as this sole album of a bunch of relative unknowns beats almost everything in the UK progressive field. Side one is a sheer delight with natural, yet deeply moving melodies over a background of lavish but tasteful Mellotron, supported by an able rhythm section, in which the drummer employs uncommon military rhythms in an inobtrusive but very effective way. The vocals are extremely personal but never self-indulgent. These are a blissful 15 minutes. Side two doesnt reach quite such a high standard, but is still very enjoyable and never less than good. The 21-member Arkestra is anchored by its leader captaining keyboards of various frequencies of inter-planetary communication and fresh audible sensations-from his Farfisa organ, "roc-si-chord," "spacemaster," Mini- Moog synthesizer, Hohner clavinet and electra, to acoustic piano. Soundscapes vary from Twilight Zone-ish scores (the Moog-heavy "Out in Space") to African ritualistic percussive escapades ("Watusi"). Suendenfall II from the Kevelaer area at the Lower Rhine played a mixture of folk and jazz, influenced by Jethro Tull. While their predecessors, Suendenfall, exclusively dedicated themselves to jazz, the group included folk after a change in line-up and band name (following the example of Amon Duul II). In 1972, Hubert Schmitz invited the band into his Trepitia film and sound studio in Alpen-Druept for free recordings, as he wanted to test the newly installed equipment after a recent move into the new location. Thus the recordings were made for the album "Suendenfall II" (Trefiton HS 1017), which was released in a small edition of 200 copies at the end of 1972. Today it is sold at a price of about 500 to 1000 in mint condition. They recorded their one and only album Sound of Sunforest in 1969. Kubrick wanted them to record Overture for the Sun and Lighthouse Keeper for the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange. During the period of 1972, Ticket were New Zealand's ultimate acid band. While in Australia, a single was released there, "Awake"/"Country Radio", on Atlantic. Also while in Melbourne, the group recorded their second album, "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie". This was self-produced and recorded at Channel Nine's 16-track studio. The album was released in late 1972. The 32-page booklet contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover repros as well as a personal retrospective report by Dave Arbus. A must for collectors. The Radio Noisz Ensemble, successor of the folk group Emma Myldenberger, came from the Weinheim an der Bergstrasse area and released its only LP, 'Yniverze' (Ubu Muziek UMS 01), in 1982. It was compared to works of the Third Ear Band, Between, and Tri Atma. 'Odiszee-Parck'(Ubu Muziek UMS 03), appearing only as a small cassette edition, followed in 1983. The music on this album is of a significantly freer style, more unwieldy and harder to digest than its predecessor; less meditative. The CD was drawn from the master tape. The cover motif is the same as the one used for the cassette, the only difference being its coloured design - like the concert poster of a quite similar make - instead of black and white. Once again the oboe is the leading instrument, and also the remaining instrumentation, featuring English horn, zither, double-bass, violin, flutes, etc. is quite unusual. 		60s/70s PSYCH/PROG/FOLK

We are proud to present the first commercial release of this hardly known Portuguese Rocker, Joaquim Costa. This is his lost record, never released commercially before. Only two copies of a 78 RPM were made for promotion in 1959. One of them burned in a fire at the label house. Now we have mastered the only copy left (the possible copy, because the original record is in really bad condition. The recording sounds like early blues releases from the 1930's). Joaquim Costas influences are first HASIL HADKINS recordings, CARL PERKINS or JACK STARR, and of course, THE CRAMPS. He is for sure one of the oldest Rockers alive, with 72 years old. He started to sing in the late 50s, listening to Jukebox records and learning the lyrics from soundtracks of movies, like the ROCK ROCK ROCK, or THE WILD ONE with Marlon Brando. He started to play in 1958 in shows at FEIRA DA ESTRELA by the hand of the famous Portuguese producer at the time, Leitao de Barros. This release is a rarity for these days, a must for collectors of rock'nroll and psychobilly, and appreciators of weird rock'n'roll...The art work was made by Joaquim Costa himself in the 1980s, when he found the copy then lost for almost 30 years in an antique fair in Lisbon. The year was 1995. Two German teenagers, who just happened to be brother and sister, formed a band with the unlikely name Cox Orange. More unlikely was their music - all original material based not on the flavor-of-the-week, nor even similar to the underground music they heard at the time. Theirs was a music heavily influenced by the heady musicianship of the West Coast psychedelic and garage bands of the 60's: Strawberry Alarm Clock, Music Machine, Doors, Love, and the Jefferson Airplane. The band came and went without much of a trace in 1997. Years later, both Lana and her brother Lenny found themselves in a reformed line-up of legendary 60's garage gods, the Music Machine! By 2005, they were both members of legendary garage-revivalists The Fuzztones, whose leader, Rudi Protrudi, just happened to stumble across a 4 track recording by Cox Orange. Thoroughly impressed by the musicianship and songwriting, he recommended that Lana and Lenny re-record and release the material, even volunteering his services as bassist. The year is 2011. The Fuzztones' organist now assumes the role not only of the keyboardist and co-writer, but also as lead vocalist of her own band, bringing their West Coast influences to the forefront in the process. Lead guitarist Lenny Svilar expertly contributes snakey, interloping counter-melodies, as well as moody, eerie and unusual effects. Protrudi and drummer Alex Tenas offer more than just a super-tight rhythm section: their intricate instrumental interplay adds textures and dynamics rarely heard in today's rock music. 'Road Block' by The Wheels is one of the all-time great (and expensive) freakbeat /garage 45s. The Wheels were contemporaries of Them's lead singer Van Morrison who almost joined the band several times. Both the wilder demo version of 'Bad Little Woman' (the one the Shadows Of Knight covered) and the UK version are also high up on the list of screaming '60s punk. The No Real Need can be traced back to when a teenage Steve Hewitt first blasted Guided By Voices Teenage FBI from the downstairs bedroom of his parents house one morning in 2000. Obviously, many will focus on the fact that WAR CRY is both Paul Speckmann, here solely on bass, and drummer Bill Schmidt first proper band, before the pair decided to go rogue in 1984, start their own band the following and, under the MASTER banner create death-metal in the process. But on its own, WAR CRY was a heavy-metal force to be reckoned with. Clearly influenced by not only the mighty BLACK SABBATH but also the then still vibrant NWOBHM scene in general and its heavier bands in particular, such as ANGEL WITCH and WITCHFINDER GENERAL, they ruled the Chicago underground heavy-metal scene in 1983 and 1984 and Trilogy Of Terror, their first demo recorded in a tiny studio in Lynwood, Illinois for only 500 dollars, is their most revered and well-known legacy, as after Speckmann and Schmidt departed in mid-84, the band followed a lighter and more mainstream direction before called it quits one year later. With songtitles leaving little doubt about their content ("The Executioner", "Wicked Warlock") and a pair of truly gifted guitarists Steve Ahlers and Marty Fitzgerald already trading licks and solos like seasoned veterans, those three songs (plus an intro) are real gems full of denim and leather. A priceless document of mid-80s heavy-metal thunder whose final song and classic "Forbidden Evil" would few months later be re-recorded in order to appear on the fouth volume of the legendary Metal Massacre compilation series along the lines of TROUBLE, LIZZY BORDEN and ABATTOIR. Now repressed for the first time on vinyl on its own and fully sanctioned by Paul Speckmann himself, this is your occasion to own a piece of US metal history. 		METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

True, they did record a cover of their heroes for this second full-length, but instead of the obvious choice -"what about an umpteenth version of War Pigs for instance?" - they went for the lesser known "A National Acrobat" (off Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) whose crossover nature proves quite a template for them to follow. We should probably blame our long-term zombified friends at HOODED MENACE for this but one of the (many) sides of seeing their latest split 12 sold out in just a couple of days (!) means two things: first, that the Blind Dead are still damn sexy beasts to some. And two, that as many people got exposed to the earth shattering power of Helsinkis HORSE LATITUDES through the shamanic 10 minutes long sludge of "Flame Of Will". A lot have been said about the fact this unusual Finnish lot, how they dared putting together a three-person unit that features no guitar yet TWO basses, how they've taken their name from an old Jim Morrison poem, how they seem less to come up with actual songs but more with apocalyptic incantations about the forthcoming end of the world or how they sound like OM on cracks or their fellow citizens FLESHPRESS after a ten days walk through the desert with no water. Their second proper full-length Awakening just confirms all those preconceptions - in spade. Clocking at little over 45 minutes with six long dirges, Awakening might be just that - the entrance to a whole different sonic vortex. Listening to their hypnotic yet slow-as-fuck groove is like free falling with your eyes: you have no choice but to let go. And it seems theres no way to go but down here. So submit yourself. Its hard to tell if those so-called new wave of US thrash-metal has ever been a reality or just one those journos wild fantasy but if such thing would have ever existed, youd probably find VINDICATOR at the top of the list. Then again, when youre being stranded somewhere in the Cleveland area, Ohio as the Stown brothers Vic (guitar, vocals) and Jesse (drums) were, in the end you have no choice but to follow the rest of the herd. Or simply go for the kill. And they did, as early as in 2005 when real thrash seemed like a thing of the past, only to be revered by thirty years plus old metalheads with tears in their eyes. That such a killer debut as There Will Be Blood had to be self-released due to a total lack of interest from potential labels back in 2008 almost seems like heresy now but its not even like the band themselves cared much. As a matter of fact, as if striving from being free from any outside pressure or hype, they simply set out to release a straight, balls-to-the-walls, no-frills-and-no-bullshit-allowed METAL album. Sitting comfortably somewhere between early MEGADETH tainted with the evil approach of SLAYER and the typically German fury of SODOM, the beauty of this raging little fucker is that it doesnt even pretend to step forward unmasked. Granted with one of the most literate cover out there, full of songtitles alone that just dont beat around the bush and tell you straight what the score is ("Pain And Suffering", "Shrapnel" or "Thrash And Destroy" just to name a few) and even rougher and rawer than its sophomore The Antique Witcheries released two years later, There Will Be Blood shows no mercy. Now re-released on LP with the usual high DOOMENTIA standards, this is once again the time to raise the flag of hate and re-launch the infernal overkill. 		METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

True, they did record a cover of their heroes for this second full-length, but instead of the obvious choice -"what about an umpteenth version of War Pigs for instance?" - they went for the lesser known "A National Acrobat" (off Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) whose crossover nature proves quite a template for them to follow. Because even though this new Doomdogs album was recorded on 24 track 2 inche tape in the same analogue-only studio as their self-titled debut and still embraces stoner, metal and sludge - it now adds loans from good ol boogie blues stompin rocknroll as well as retro prog! The earth-crushing intro of the track "Welcome To The Future" alone will knock your socks off! So this thirteen tracks and 65+ minutes monster is like a turbocharged version of SPIRITUAL BEGGARS (before they turned into ,Mike Amotts little vanity project") mixed with KING CRIMSONs most pastoral moments and CROWBAR when in full 70s rock mode. Doesnt make sense? Believe us, it sure will the moment you hear ,Unleash The Truth" for the first time. Need some more convincing? what about Victor Griffin then ? Ltd. 300. Carl Calm is the solo project by Chicago citizen Eric Lanham of Caboladies. "Dayglo Port" was recorded and mixed over two days in the tiny back bedroom of The Fact House (a house Chris and Eric of Caboladies used to live and host shows in Lexington, KY) in the fall with the windows wide open and gear eliminating any floor space. In contrast to Caboladies' extensive jam-heavy explorations "Dayglo Port" favors a more introspective and rural atmosphere recalling the mood of seminal home electronica classics such as Nuno Canavarro's "Plux Quba", Sunroof!'s "Cloudz" or Microstoria's "Init Ding". Eric Lanham started playing music in 2006. His then roommate and longtime friend Ben Zoeller got him going and they started playing together. They then added Chris Bush and formed Caboladies. They were enthralled with the experimental music they saw coming through Lexington, KY (where they were all living) and decided to go for it. It started with pedals and feedback mangling and they eventually moved to samplers and synths. They did their first tour in 2007 with Three Legged Race (Hair Police). Chris and Eric moved to Chicago in 2009 and continued Caboladies as a duo. Been grooving ever since....Although they are considered one of the spearheading groups of a new age/synth revival scene in the USA along with Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never, Caboladies have always been equally influenced by the likes of Francois Bayle, Gil Melle, Bernard Parmegiani, and other acousmatic composers, which clearly sets them apart from likeminded artists. October 2005: Seminal German director Christoph Schlingensief (R.I.P. 2010) shoots his latest feature film 'The African Twintowers' in Lüderitz/Namibia with Irm Hermann, Klaus Beyer, Robert Stadlober, Patti Smith...Autumn 2006: Schlingensief approaches Berlin musician/composer Hanno Leichtmann (Groupshow, Static, Denseland) regarding a soundtrack for the film. There were hours and hours of raw material; the concept being a movie with few dialogues and music throughout - a 90 minute psychedelic collage; an associative visual and sonic trip. With the help of John Nijenhuis aka Sir Henry as well as a trio of musicians playing indian music (tabla, sitar, tampura), they started to improvise in Leichtmann's recording studio projecting film sequences on a wall. Within 4 days and nights an enormous amount of tracks had been recorded and several rough mixes had been compiled. After a while though, Schlingensief decided to shift the concept. The film transformed into an art installation with 18 monitors showing sequences simultaneously (presented at the Berlinale and Steirischer Herbst), and later on, a kind of 'Making of...' with 90% off-comments by Christoph Schlingensief and very little music was made. Thus, 'The African Twintowers Suite" represents a lost soundtrack; compiling the most interesting recordings, newly edited, layered, collaged, shortened and mixed between 2009 and 2010. Shadow Of Events is the third album by Oslo, Norway sound artist, producer and musician Alexander Rishaug, following his Asphodel CD Possible Landscape (2004) and 2001's Panorama on the Smalltown Supersound label. The album was recorded over a five year period and mixed in Berlin last year. Not unlike his previous albums but apparently more refined Shadow Of Events combines a warm and organic haunting quality blended with both abstract and concrete tones and subtle digital noises. "Most of the tracks are developed from field recordings, instrument improvisation or live sampling. Then processed and edited with the computer as the main tool. I've used sounds hailing from a dusty rhodes, a lovely guitar, a nervous radio and a lonely piano." Rishaug's music is informed by classic minimal composers such as Steve Reich and Terry Riley as well as 90's electronica acts such as the Oval/Microstoria axis and like-minded but more obscure artists associated with the Mille Plateaux label (remember Neina?) but surely wouldn't be out of place on a contemporary label like Kranky or Type. Repetitive and seemingly simple melodic patterns are combined with (and sometimes obscured by) decaying monlithic drone layers creating a hazy melancholic landscape slowly unfolding its beauty. Granular shoegazy tones are building up in slow-motion recalling the patient yet precise and complex drone works of Stephan Mathieu, William Basinski and Machinefabriek's Dauw album. Alexander Rishaug was part of the improv collective ARM (1996-2006) with Arne Borgan and Are Mokkelbost (Killl) as well as collaborating with Lasse Marhaug on a Lucky Kitchen release. The music of Xela is not easily described. The alias of Type Records main-man John Twells, he has over the last decade moved through a dense fog of musical styles from abstract electronics to rusty soundscapes. In recent years his output has allied itself with darker realms, taking a liberal dose of influence from Norway's darker exponents, but retaining a deep and measured experimental focus. 'The Illuminated' was originally released on cassette, a format very fitting to the gloomy, waterlogged sounds; but having sold out in a matter of days it now recieves the much needed deluxe re-issue treatment. Taking cues from the cracked black metal of Burzum and Striborg and fusing this with heavy, synthesized noise 'The Illuminated' is possibly Xela's darkest, most spine-chilling work to date. We are taken through chiming Nurse With Wound-inspired soundscapes into Middle Eastern marketplaces and through caverns of thick, buzzing synthesized noise on the album's first piece. Entitled 'Black Scripture' this takes the dank religious themes of 'In Bocca Al Lupo' and goes even deeper into the Church dungeons, digging up lost artifacts and the angry spirits that accompany them. The flipside extends this heresy with a throaty vocal and distorted electric guitar, leaving blackened corpses and the traces of a sleepy village in its wake. This record is a new collection serie of Italian groovy tunes. This is such an unusual record that it defies description in terms of modern compilations. Here you wont find the customary usual boring sound from start to finish, with no development and musical differences, as on the most of other albums on the market. When we speak about grooves in todays pop music, we are referring to sound made only for DJs and clubs. The SUNFLOWERZ project tries to mix this idea of groove, adding to this melody-making songs, most of which sung by a female, that have a pop style. The Pyramids came together in the feverish expat climate of Paris & Amsterdam in 1971 where the three Antioch classmates- Idris Ackamoor,Margot Ackamoor and Kimathi Asante- hooked up with drummer Donald Robinson and began to flesh out their own brand of musical freedom but it was the subsequent pilgrimage back to Africa that proved to be the young musicians' creative awakening & truly set their brand of spiritual jazz apart from pack.
