 ACID NIGHTMARE
ALPHA CENTAURI - ALPHA CENTAURI
Alpha Centauri was formed in Greeley, Colorado in 1971. The band performed its hard driving rock throughout the American Midwest for years opening for artists such as STYX and URIAH HEEP. With a fairly strong US following, the band moved to Canada where they began to write original material. The result was 1977's long awaited eponymous debut on Salt Records. With the release of the album came more concerts as well as several radio and television appearances including the Canadian TV special "Alpha Centauri In Concert" from 1978. The band was then aiming for the UK, but management problems and road burnout led to the band returning to the USA, appearing on TV's 'Rock and Roll America'. Alpha Centauri stayed on the road until 1983 when they finally broke up. In the '90's a resurgence of sorts occurred following a glowing review of their sole album in the International Encyclopedia of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal stating them as the "Worlds best undiscovered Pomp band". 70's Hard Rock aficionados began scouring the globe for their only album and in 1995, was issued on CD. Nowadays a rare sought after gem in the collector's market, Acid Nightmare thought it would be the right time to reissue this Hard Prog Pomp masterpiece on glorious vinyl. The record comes with insert and is limited to 400 copies.

GOLDEN CUP - VAGABOND
Brand new full length from Golden Cup featuring a new expanded 4 piece. Vagabond features 3 tracks, the opening 15 minute tracks takes up the full A side with wild psychedelic percussion and floating riffs, it's one hell of a jam. The closing tracks is the perfect blend of the previous two tracks, crazy percussions, hazy guitars, far out flutes. ORESUND SPACE COLLECTIVE - PHAZE YOUR FEARS
Phaze your Fears is a vinyl and digital only release with a potential CD release in the future. It is the 13th proper release by the Oresund Space Collective. The music on this album was born on Sept. 24th, 2010, the same recording session as the Entering into the Space Country release. The material for these jams occurred later in the session (Jams 4 and 6). The members from the Univerzals (drums, bass, guitar, synthesizer) were making up the main band and were also joined by DR. Space, Johan Dahlström, (First Band from Outer Space), Mathias Danielsson (My Brother the Wind, Gösta Berlings Saga), Stefan Krey (Gas Giant, SumoSun, ILDHUas well as Claus Bohling (Hurdy Gurdy, Secret Oyster, Elektrum). There are a lot of guitar interactions and great melodic lines and solos by all. vichsky, who previous supplied us with some words for the Black Tomato CD. Otherwise, it is completely improvised space rock as with our other releases.

POOH, I - CONTRASTO
Reissue of the second album by I Pooh, released in 1968 by Vedette Records and now pressed in a clear orange vinyl limited edition. "Contrasto" is a sort of apocryphal compilation, released by the record label right when the band was enjoying the success of the song "Piccola Katy", which is present on the LP and is still today one of I Pooh's most famous hymn. The album also contains demos for a future release, and in fact it's possible to recognize some riffs and melodies in some of the band's following LP's. But I Pooh didn't know anything about "Contrasto" when Vedette Records decided to publish it, and they therefore asked to retire the album from the market: as a result, only few hundred copies were actually sold, and "Contrasto" is today one of the rarest Italian LP's ever!

STORMY SIX - UN BIGLIETTO DEL TRAM
A great Italian rock classic album is finally back, here officially reissued for the very first time as a 180gr audiophile black vinyl, with a faithful reproduction of the original release artwork. "Un biglietto del tram" was a bolt from the blue, an LP full of pathos from the first to the last note, full of political and social lyrism. From folk and progressive/psychedelic rock, Stormy Six evolved to the powerful hymn of "Stalingrado", the album opening track. Their career continued until the '80s, but "Un biglietto..." remains an unique episode in the band's discography, but also in the entire history of Italian rock music.

VELVET UNDERGROUND - LIVE IN DALLAS, TX. 28 OCTOBER 1969
After the release of their third LP in March 1969, the Velvets (with Doug Yule now on bass) embarked on a nationwide tour, playing over 70 dates all around the US. One of these included a stint at the "End Of Cole Avenue" club in Dallas-one of the Velvets few live performances where a professional sound engineer was actually on hand to record the sets. Some of the songs recorded over those few nights showed up in 1974 on their 1969: Velvet Underground Live album, but the sound quality was not great due to Mercurys use of third or fourth generation tapes. However, the first generation tapes have since resurfaced, and the difference in sound quality (heard here) is a welcome one. This version also features a few songs, like "Im Set Free" and "One Of These Days", not found on the original LP.

COSMIC DEALER - CHILD OF TOMORROW
This is the second previously unreleased album by the Dutch psychedelic hard rock band Cosmic Dealer. Their first album "Crystallization" from 1971 is an outstanding and rare masterpiece for all psych collectors and for sure one of the best Euro-Underground rock albums of the 70s. In 1971 the band was shortly disband but found together in 1973 with a few line-up changes but kept the same musical intention: heavy psychedelic, progressive and guitar driven hard rock, with catchy song writing, a few US-Westcoast flashes but also extended instrumental jam excursions. This album contains 6 songs which were recorded in 1973, plus 3 demos from 1971 and as bonustracks there are 4 live cuts also from 1971 including the title track from their debut Crystallization. The CD with a total running time of 68 mins contains a 12 p. booklet with lots of photos and linernotes and is carefully re-mastered to catch the real spirit of the beautiful and intense music.

 MR. BONGO
GENTLEMEN - THE GENTLEMEN
Another super rare gem brought to you by Mr Bongo from the legendary Rozenblit catalogue, The Gentlemen's s/t album is the holy grail of Brazilian psych. The LP on Smog Records was so rare only 200 copies were ever pressed for radio promotion and only 3 of the originals are now known to still exist. Formed by Hugo Leao (real name Hugo Filho) in 1966, The Gentlemen were a garage-rock band from Pernambuco that came together via inspirations from the 'Jovem Guarda' movement and the 60's psyche-rock sound from the UK. The group consisted of Hugo Leao (bass and vocal), Clio (rhythm guitar), Valmir (lead vocal), Saulo (drums), Enilton (guitar) and Carlito (keyboards). 'Sorriso Selvagem' is the first track on the groundbreaking, self-titled, classic album from 1972, sounding like a mixture of Santana and Deep Purple. The single 'Christina' features the great Zé Ramalho and will be reissued in 2012 on Mr Bongo. They merge the psych sounds with the traditional Pernambucan percussion, Indian sitars & Moroccan lutes. Hugo currently resides in Paraiba, Brazil. CD in beautiful digipack format with Obi.

JARVIS STREET REVUE - MR. OIL MAN
the JARVIS STREET REVUE "Mr. Oil Man": Poised between Toronto and Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Ontario became the unfortunate refuge for every touring band in Canada; that mandatory break while crossing the perilously vast Canadian Shield. With a nine-hour drive to anywhere else, Thunder Bays isolation goes beyond the cold, Northwestern psyche. It permeates the Canadian consciousness, leaving its mark on every musician crossing the Bays threshold. No doubt, Canadas vastness can be heard in much of the Northernly musical output. There is perhaps no better example of this than Thunder Bays Jarvis Street Revue. Their lone Columbia label LP from 1971 leaves no one untouched by the bands sheer avalanche of psychedelic heaviness, wasted acid leads and harrowing vocals. Every song is laced with a conviction born from the physical landscape they called home. Jarvis Street Revue spent (literally) a month of Sundays recording the album and bouncing tracks to create effects. "Chuck Williams was so freaked out, he used to leave the room," Jarvis leader and Neil Young running mate Tom Horricks said. "It was so anti-establishment." The Jarvis Street Revue used recordings of nature to create a nightmare atmosphere. When the bouncing of tracks led to some odd sounds in the mix, the band left them there and worked them into their sonic tapestry. Creative and far-seeing... and not without some chemical support. As Horricks admitted, "If I were to tell you we did a little drugs in those days, I wouldnt be lying!" The Jarvis Street Revue then toured, playing the songs from "Mr. Oil Man" with a "cacophony of strobes and effects." The albums's (and band's) concern with the environmental-including bold statements on the use and abuse of the oil reserves, rapacious business men, and the depletion of Earths natural resources-were truly visionary. Tucked somewhere into the bands murky history were recording sessions for a handful of singles, and a few cuts for an unreleased second album, "Strands of Time" (1971); all of these other recordings (ten in all) are included as bonus tracks. This makes the entire output of this legendary band available for the first time in this revised and expanded version of this seminal psychedelic effort. Wrap around over-sized booklet has a band history by Tom Horricks, plus photos, images of sheet music for most of the songs, and lyrics for the band's greatest statement, 'Mr. Oil Man." Track list: 1. Mr. Business Man (2:41); 2. Mr. Oil Man (12:27); 3. 20 Years (3:08); 4. Sally's Hymn (4:44); 5. 300 South (2:40); 6. Heidi Ho (3:29). Bonus Tracks: 7. Sweet Susan (2:25); 8. Angela (2:33); 9. Mr. Rock (2:37); 10. Uncle Benny (3:48); 11. I Believe In Freedom (3:20); 12. Sweet Eyed Satin Lady (3:41); 13. Better Things To Do (2:14); 14. Tambourine (2:30); 15. Intermission (2:57); 16. Magic Man (3:01) (not listed on the CD booklet)

ROTOMAGUS - SKY TURNS RED: COMPLETE ANTHOLOGY
There's no way to know why CBS Records unceremoniously dumped Rotomagus and the Chico Magnetic Band after one single apiece; suffice to say that decision was a poor one, as both bands have (quite rightly) developed a cult-like following over the years. All in all, the artistic trajectory of Rotomagus was peculiar: they started out as a harmony pop-psych band, shifted through a brief Jimi Hendrix-ian interlude (The Sky Turns Red), straight into a Vanilla Fudge groove; they then went down in flames as a hair-raising monolithic heavy rock power trio. On Julian Cope's excellent Head Heritage website, the Seth Man raves about Rotomagus thus: "The first time I heard this track (Fighting Cock), I did not freak out. I merely walked into a nearby closet and screamed my head off for a minute solid, beat the floor and ripped my t-shirt... then I cowered when it hit me: this thing came out in 1971? Before "Raw Power"?! I just lost my mind... The only thing that predates this monster in terms of being a full-on amassing of all things heavy are all the many key points on Sir Lord Baltimore's "Kingdom Come" LP and THAT'S it, brother." French magazine Rock & Folk was succinct: "Rotomagus create an emotional music, violent, even aggressive." Violent. Aggressive. Intense. On this disc we bring you the entire output of Rotomagus, including an album-length demo from 1971, the bands tumultuous, thunderous swansong, recorded as a super jam (live with no overdubs). Our Lion Productions and Martyrs of Pop edition of Rotomagus comes replete with a bi-lingual 32-page booklet, with the entirety of the Seth Mans article on the band, plus the bands history in both English and French, printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper, manufactured using biogas energy. Hard to believe this is all pre-1971, as much of the demo is not just proto punk but proto hardcore-with enough fiery attitude to make you want to scream along. The vocals are wild, while the guitar riffs and grinds and approaches a Stooges via Motorhead apocalyptic grandeur. Amazing! Tracklist: The unreleased demo (39:41): 1. Laureline; 2. Little Green Man; 3. Fighting Cock; 4. The Sky Turns Red; 5. Runnin' For Life; 6. I Dig Life; 7. Shout Now; 8. Hello the Binaries; 9. The Flufluting Flatmul. The singles: 10. Le Haut du Pavé (2:48) (Polydor 66 664-A); 11. Nevada (2:40) (Polydor 66 664-B); 12. Eros (2:20) (CBS FR-4997-A); 13. Madame Wanda (3:26) (CBS FR-4997-B); 14. Fighting Cock (3:34) (Butterfly BS 007-A); 15. The Sky Turns Red (2:57) (Butterfly BS 007-B); 16. Laureline (2:22); 17. Pourquoi les Hommes (2:29).

SOFT MACHINE - SOFT MACHINE (USA/SUNDAZED)
The first two albums by England's legendary Soft Machine, originally released in 1968 and 1969, remain among the most innovative and influential releases of that musically fertile era. These seminal LPs offered a visionary psychedelic-progressive-jazz-rock mix that helped to make the Soft Machine one of Britain's first significant underground bands, as well as a key force in the birth of both progressive rock and jazz-rock. A product of the same fabled Canterbury scene that spawned such beloved cult acts as Caravan and Hatfield and the North, the Soft Machine was the rare art-rock combo whose members possessed the instrumental skills to execute their ambitious musical ideas, as well as a playful sense of humor that balanced the band's complex compositions and adventurous improvisations. By the time they began making albums, the Soft Machine was already a sensation in the budding U.K. rock underground, thanks to their now-legendary performances at such fabled London clubs as the UFO, the Speakeasy and Middle Earth, where they shared stages with the likes of Pink Floyd and Tomorrow. The Soft Machine, co-produced by Chas Chandler and Tom Wilson, announced the band's arrival on the international scene in fine style. With an unusual three-man lineup comprised of Kevin Ayers on bass and vocals, Robert Wyatt on drums and vocals, and Mike Ratledge on keyboards, the album was recorded in New York, while the band was touring North America with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In contrast to the extended pieces that would later dominate the Soft Machine's repertoire, the album focuses on shorter, more concise songs that nonetheless provide plenty of room for the musicians to demonstrate their varied abilities. This landmark gem has been out of print for decades, but now it is back in a meticulously packaged Sundazed compact disc edition. Mastered from the original analog tapes, this lovingly restored album sounds as powerful and imaginative as ever.

SOFT MACHINE - VOLUME TWO (USA)
The aptly titled Volume Two introduced a retooled Soft Machine lineup, with Wyatt and Ratledge joined by bassist Hugh Hopper, an old Canterbury friend who had guested on the first album. The sophomore disc finds the threesome moving towards a more explicitly jazz-influenced sound, with an increased emphasis on instrumental material. The album is bookended by a pair of extended compositions, "Rivmic Melodies" and "Esther's Nose Job," which are broken up into shorter individual tracks bearing whimsically arbitrary titles. That approach was suggested to the band by Frank Zappa, whose Mothers of Invention album Absolutely Free was reportedly an influence on Volume Two. TRAFFIC - HEAVEN IS IN YOUR MIND/MR. FANTASY
Mono Edition. Traffic was one of the most original and influential British groups of the 1960s, gathering a diverse set of individual talents in vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Steve Winwood, singer/guitarist Dave Mason, drummer Jim Capaldi and reeds player Chris Wood. The foursomes expansive talents and formidable creative chemistry allowed the musicians to integrate an array of folk, jazz, pop and R&B elements, infusing their eclectic stylistic mix with a playfully psychedelic spirit that perfectly captured the experimental sensibility of the times. Traffics historic 1967 debut LP (produced by noted studio vet Jimmy Miller) was released in the U.K. as Mr. Fantasy, but initially reached U.S. shores in altered form as Heaven Is in Your Mind/Mr. Fantasy. The American edition featured an altered track listing and new cover art with Winwood, Capaldi and Wood but not Mason, who had quit the band prior to the albums release. The U.S. LP added the British singles "Paper Sun," "Hole in My Shoe" and "Smiling Phases" to the albums running order, along with a short snippet of the U.K. single "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush" as a recurring motif between tracks. The American edition also tacked on the short closing track "Were a Fade, You Missed This," which is actually the fadeout of an alternate version of "Paper Sun." The American LPs title was quickly amended to Mr. Fantasy, and it was under that name that most stateside fans came to know the album, with the original U.S. edition becoming something of a rarity. In any form, and under any title, Heaven Is in Your Mind/Mr. Fantasy ranks as one of the most audacious and inventive rock albums of its time. Such catchy tunes as "Paper Sun," "Hole in My Shoe" and "Heaven Is in Your Mind" combine stylistic adventurousness with effortless melodic appeal, while more introspective numbers like "Dear Mr. Fantasy" and "Coloured Rain" capture early stirrings of prog-rock and jazz-fusion. Sundazeds new vinyl edition of this seminal vintage disc completely restores the albums rare original U.S. cover art. The LP also features the albums incredibly rare mono mix, which differs substantially from the albums more familiar stereo mix. TRACKS: Paper Sun / Dealer / Coloured Rain / Hole in My Shoe / No Face, No Name and No Number / Heaven Is in Your Mind / House for Everyone / Berkshire Poppies / Giving to You / Smiling Phases / Dear Mr. Fantasy / Were a Fade, You Missed This.

VARIOUS - BRAZILIAN NUGGETS, VOL. 1
'BACK FROM THE JUNGLE'. Now also as 'papersleeve' CD version. This compilation is nothing more than a homage to those who fought for rock'n'roll in Brazil during the 60s and mid 70s. The tracks featured in Brazilian Nuggets are mainly from very obscure bands that were not even part of the "Jovem Guarda" movement. What you will do find is the wildest and most aggressive garage, psych and strange rock'n'roll released by unknown Brazilian record labels. These are the real heroes of the young modern advanced Brazilian music, because they broke the barriers of hypocrisy and showed that young people and their cheap guitars live not only on love but also on anger! Excellent artwork by mister Darren Merrinuk in deluxe gatefold sleeve with a bunch of photos never seen and pics of all the sleeves included in this compilation. Volume two and tree also on the way with even more obscure and psych fuzz tracks... Included here among others: BLOBS, BEGGERS, LUP & LOY, ALMIR DUARTE, MERLIN'S MESSAGE, BABYS, JOSE LUIZ, OS NATIVOS, ETC..

OS CANIBAIS - OS CANIBAIS
An incredibly original album of Brazilian nuggets from the Mocambo/Rozenblit catalogue, Os Canibais had a meteoric rise to fame starting in 1964 in Rio de Janeiro. The group was originally made up of Aramis (guitar/vocals), Serginho and Max (vocals) and later they brought in the wonderful Denise Baker (vocals) and Horacio (piano). Originally the group was to be called 'The Drunks' but after careful consideration they chose the much catchier Os Canibais (The Cannibals). They decided on this non-English name to differentiate from the Jovem Guarda TV era: The Fevers, The Jordans, The Clevers and so on. Jonas Silva, the A&R at Mocambo then signed them and their first single sold over one hundred thousand copies and made it into the Top 10. They broke new ground by being the first Brazilian pop-rock group to perform with a live orchestra in 1966 on TV in Rio, when the system of playbacks was still in its early days, they then went on to play the Brazilian Woodstock in 1969. They made one more LP under the pseudonym 'Bango' on Musidisc label, where their psychedelic music style was compared to Os Mutantes. The LP features fully reproduced original photographs and artwork. Produced on heavyweight, old-style, gatefold packaging, the same as the original LP. Original label art. Limited edition.

CENTRAL LIVING - DUNE CHURCH
Debut collaborative release from Manuel Padding and Steve Gunn (GHQ). Steve plays guitar with effects and Manuel is on electronics, vocals and percussion. Dune Church comprises of two tracks, The Original Mind Roti being the first with some beautiful playing from Steve which is reminiscent of his solo work and his GHQ collaborations with Marcia Bassett, but layered with Manuel's electronics, which fluctuate between psychedelic hazes to almost concrete walls of heavy drones at noises at times, it creates something otherworldly. The B side, 'Stone Canoe' has rapid cascading plucking merged with whirring electronics, Steve's playing moves in and out of the blissed out mystic drones already laid down by the duo, haunting vocals creeping in and out. These two 20 minute tracks should be played as loud as possible. Pressed in an edition of 300 on virgin vinyl.

LUST FOR YOUTH/WAR - THE GLASS HOUSE ETIQUETTE
If you payed attention to the North-European underground lately, you surely have come across such a label as New Way of Danish Fuck You. Freaky just like every label, it gathers a growing number of Copenhagen-based bands as Iceage and Sexdrome. From the same brood here comes War, a new duo formed by Elias Bender Ronnenfelt (Iceage frontman) e Loke Rahbek (Sexdrome and runner of Posh Isolation label). Debuted by NYC Sacred Bones just a couple of months ago with the At War With Youth 7-inch these young Danishes offer some minimal, clanking, home-recorded electronics. What better match than with their neighbors and friends Lust For Youth (for the record Loke plays in LFY live line-up now)? Released on tape by Posh Isolation itself in late 2011, The Glass House Etiquette is the best example of whats going on in the post-industrial underworld. Two murky bands, one song each filled with damaged synthesizers, gaunt and heavy beats, vocals like spirits haunting an empty room. Comes on black vinyl with insert.

LUST FOR YOUTH - GROWING SEEDS
You might know Swedens electronic act Lust For Youth thanks to their Solar Flare debut album we released just one year ago. Today, after the defection of the early female member Amanda, Hannes Norrvide is back solo and born again. To celebrate the new season, the filthy patina that used to cloak the bands previous recordings has gone to leave room to clearer sounds which allow the different sides of the project to come to life. Thats how, on Growing Seeds, youll find synth-pop hymns (Behind Curtains) along with noisy industrial tracks (We Planted a Seed) and powerful EBM beats (Cover Their Faces). Ten songs to give new life to one of Europes most interesting synth/wave bands. Comes on black vinyl with insert. CD edition will be out soon as well on russian label OtherVoices.

GRACE, JEFF - MEEK'S CUTOFF O.S.T. (10")
Kelly Riechardt has directed several films, An Old Joy, Wendy and Lucy, and last year saw the release of Meek's Cutoff. A slow burning, bleak film following a small group of settlers traveling across the Oregon High Desert with their guide Stephen Meek. What follows is increased paranoia and tension as they start to believe Meek does not the territory he has lead the group in to. The film was released to some fantastic reviews and Michelle Williams recently won the Hollywood Film Festival Award for Best Actress for Meek's Cutoff, My Week With Marilyn and Take This Waltz. This fantastic film's score was written by Jeff Grace. Grace has scored several films including Ti West's excellent retro horror 'House of the Devil' and Jim Mickles great vampire movie 'Stake Land', as well as working as an assistant to Howard Shore's score for Peter Jackson's 'The Lord Of The Rings' trilogy. Grace's soundtrack work is always interesting and defies genre. For Meek's Cutoff, Grace enhanced the films portrayal of the fear of the unknown stark land the group faces. The sounds composed by Jeff Grace are hypnotic, ambient and minimal, much like the deserted dust lands the characters in the film travel through. The soundtrack blends classical composition with drone and experimental avant garde music. Meek's Cutoff was one of my favourite soundtracks and films of 2011, and I'm honoured to present it here on 10" virgin vinyl, in a gorgeous sleeve, including a small insert of liner notes and photographs of the file. Produced in a one-time edition of 250 hand numbered copies.
