In an historic alliance, Sundazed Music has partnered with Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. to release an eye-popping series of new 7" picture-sleeve vinyl singles featuring unique and hard-to-find vintage performances by Jimi Hendrix. The series launches in April with an initial release that combines a pair of historically significant Hendrix recordings from two different 1967 sessions. One is a raucous reading of Bob Dylan's 'Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?' from BBC Radio's Rhythm and Blues show, the other a fascinating, newly discovered take of the Hendrix original 'Burning Of The Midnight Lamp,' as performed on BBC-TVs Top of the Pops. Both sides feature the classic original Jimi Hendrix Experience lineup of Hendrix on guitar and vocals, Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, and capture the band just as it was beginning to emerge as a major creative force on both sides of the Atlantic. Born at the dawn of the new millennium in Italy, I.C.O. (Incoming Cerebral Overdrive) are heavy to the core. The end of the first decade of the new millennium marks a new step in the evolution of the band. The title of the new chapter is: "Le Stelle: A Voyage Adrift". The concept, an imaginary, dark and lonely trip adrift discovered in a diary. Emotions of fear, anger and irrational excitement are expressed, waiting for a certain epilogue into desolation, a final annihilation in a cosmic fusion. Sonically, this new album is a journey that intersects and expands in a huge, deep and at times, claustrophobic monolith. Heavy cavernous guitars with back-breaking riffs, multifaceted, effect laden vocals and rhythmic notes plunge into a psychedelic mix of unpredictable sounds of distress and madness that we, the recipient, can only succumb to. The album ultimately analyses the irrational, insane feelings of the man who face a journey toward the unknown. A diary has been found, but we cant say anything more than whats written inside. Impossible to identify the places (real or not, who knows) that he explored, what shines through his words are his fears, sensations and frustrations fed by a sense of belonging to a chaotic, incontrollable, and compromised whole. The participation of Urlo and Poia of Ufomammut, both during the composition and the recording sessions opens the project to a new light. PYTHAGORAS is the name of a Dutch Progressive rock band, founded in the year 1979 in Den Haag, centered around young keyboardist Rene De HAAN and experienced drummer Bob De JONG. Helped by various guests, our two fellows created, almost on their own, two opuses now regarded as electronic Progressive rock milestones: "Journey To The Vast Unknown" (1980) and "After The Silence" (1981). About a quarter of a Century after PYTHAGORAS' demise, Musea publishes "The Correlated ABC", a double-CD including unreleased tracks from the 1983-1985 period, as well as a live performance captured in Delft in May 1983. A true gem! UFOMAMMUT - ORO
Oro is the title for UFOMAMMUT's latest work, divided into ten massive movements overall which is now confirmed to be delivered in two separate pieces during the coming year. The first chapter, Opus Primum, will see arrival in April, and the second, Opus Alter, in September. The vinyl versions of both chapters will be handled directly by UFOMAMMUT's own label Supernatural Cat Records, who were responsible for the release of all of the band's previous material. This is the third album in a row the band recorded with Lorenzo Stecconi. As with all previous UFOMAMMUT albums, the concepts behind Oro are expansive and multi-faceted, mutating the Italian palindrome which translates to "gold" with the Latin translation of "I prey." Oro explores the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the World surrounding us. Oro is the alchemical process to transform the human fears into pure essence into Gold. Although Oro's two chapters will be released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds show up and hide, mutating and evolving, progressively and increasingly stratifying culminating in the crushing final movement. Oro is like an alchemic laboratory in which substances are flowing, dividing and blending themselves in ten increments from the alembics and stills, culminating into ththe creation of Gold. The result? 60s Garage Punk. And two originally unissued numbers from this prime moment are featured here. CLAG - PASTED YOUTH
Formed around high school friends Bek Moore, Rachael Cooke and Alison Bolger in the very early 90s, Clag played a kind of psychotic kiddie punk, full of one note Casio keyboard solos and lyrics about cows, goldfish and gravy-covered hot chips. Their apparent innocence, however, was merely a front, disguising examinations of the human psyche that grew darker as the band progressed. Musically they were equally confusing, staking out a bizarre middle ground between the Shaggs, Bikini Kill and the Banana Splits, In short, Clag were one of the most head-scratchingly strange bands in the world. Clag members went on to play in bands such as Beaches, Panel Of Judges and Minimum Chips, but in the intervening years a considerable legend has grown up around their first musical venture. Copies of their original singles are now treasured artefacts. This 23 track reissue comes with a 16 page booklet packed with photos and extensive liner notes. It includes all their officially released recordings, plus a whole raft of bonus material, including a live-to-air session on Brisbanes 4ZZZ-FM, and a chaotic, foul-mouthed live recording from Melbourne's Empress Hotel. Skipper is the alias of Mike Schepers, who as part of The Mashed Potatoes toured heavily around the Netherlands in the late 90s. On his first solo album Skipper reveals himself as a singer/songwriter in the tradition of Neil Young, Nick Drake and John Sebastian. The songs are brittle and moving, but get an unexpected avant-pop twist with the use of samples, soundscapes, toy instruments and a range of effects. Skipper exceeded the originally planned studio time, but made a record that should appeal to fans of Caribou, Animal Collective and Beck. |

VARIOUS - STRONG LOVE
Strong Love explores the first wave of openly gay songwriting, and begins with the earliest known example, 1972's 'A Gay Song' by London hippie collective Everyone Involved. Across 15 tracks, the compilation takes in disarmingly personal folk, uplifting soul, outsider country and dark synth-rock. But tellingly, none of its songs could be considered well-known. New Yorks Steven Grossman released the first major label album by an openly gay artist in 1974, and Tom Robinson hit the UK Top 20 with the fiery 'Glad To Be Gay' in 1978, but these are the exceptions. Most 'Strong Love' artists released their own self-funded recordings in very limited numbers. Unlike their lesbian counterparts, who joined forces to create long-lasting record labels, strong distribution networks and considerable sales figures for artists such as Cris Williamson and Holly Near, gay male musicians in the 1970's existed largely in solitary bubbles. Which doesn't mean they didn't carve out niches of their own. Eccentric one man band Chris Robison played with the New York Dolls and Elephants Memory, while LA glam seducer Smokey saw members of the Stooges and Quiet Riot pass through his backing band. Steven Grossman was covered by Twiggy and Scrumbly & Martin are justifiably infamous for their work with San Francisco drag hippies the Cockettes. Whether known or not, what the songs on 'Strong Love' illustrate is the vision, talent and raw courage that drove 1970's songwriters to sacrifice popular careers for the sake of honesty and selfexpression. Features evocative introduction from drummer Richard Dworkin (who played with Blackberri and Buena Vista and is one of the few to have witnessed many 'Strong Love' artists firsthand), the album is a powerful tribute to pioneering artists whose music has been neglected for too long.
