SHAGRAT RECORDS is pleased to announce the release of 'Jersey Sloo' by legendary late 60s West Coast band, Mad River. The release includes a soft-cover 36 page book and 12" 5-track EP pressed on 180 gram vinyl, featuring previously-unissued music by the band in a limited edition run of 500 copies. Mad River formed at Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio in 1965 and, inspired by what was happening in San Francisco, moved to Berkeley in early 1967, just in time for the Summer of Love. During their brief time together they released a now highly-sought-after 7" EP and two albums for Capitol Records. The Shagrat release is a substantial addition to their catalogue. Housed in the same sleeve as the vinyl 12", the 12" x 12" 36pp, full colour, mini-coffee table book features a 26,000 word history of the band written by Ugly Things journalist David Biasotti, revealing many unknown stories and details about this legendary, Berkeley-based quintet. The book is profusely illustrated with many photos and other memorabilia which have never been seen before. The band played all the infamous psychedelic ballrooms such as the Avalon, the Fillmore and the Straight Theater, sharing the bill with the likes of Country Joe & the Fish, Phil Ochs, the Vanilla Fudge and Santana, who opened for them on a number of occasions. Both their albums are now rightfully regarded as classics of the era. Acting as a kind of soundtrack to the book, the 12" record contains five cuts that have never been officially released before, including the four numbers the band cut in Dayton Ohio in early 1967 as a demo before they re-located to California. These show that whilst the band was influenced by the likes of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Country Joe & the Fish (whom drummer Greg Dewey eventually joined and played Woodstock with) and their friends the Youngbloods, they were also pretty fully formed before they set off for the West Coast, as the embryonic Windchimes included here testifies. It was former Youngblood Jerry Corbitt who produced the other long-lost gem from 69, Jersey Slooin this set - showing that away from the long flowing psychedelic numbers, the band could also write concise, accessible, two-minute rockers (even if the lyrics were completely whacked out!). Drummer Greg Dewey takes a rare lead vocal on this one, which with its overtly funky bass lines, might be considered a frenetic companion piece to Country Joe & the Fishs infamous Rock and Soul Music. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

ABACUS is surely a big name for everyone interested in rock music. The band formed in 1971 made their breakthrough at the Germersheim rock festival, where ABACUS drew not less applause from the 300,000 visitors than PINK FLOYD, SANTANA or ELP which appeared on stage as well. In the following ABACUS published 4 LPs, of which the last 3 where recorded at Giorgio Moroder's "MUSICLAND". Because of the global record sales, numerous national and international tours, TV and radio shows ABACUS became a top act not only in Germany. ABACUS delivered the same dense sound on stage as in the studio. Maybe that's why they became a crowd puller for countless shows. Musical differences about future record productions were among other things responsible for the break up of the band in 1976. Reissue of debut album by USA heavy psych rock band. Originally released in 1969. Signed by Atlantic, their 1969 debut "Banchee" teamed the quartet (former Peepl singer/guitarist Peter Alongi, drummer Victor Digilio, rhythm guitarist Jose Miguel deJesus, and bassist Michael Marino) with producers Warren Schatz and Stephen Schlaks. Like much late-1960s product the debut displayed some psych influences, but the predominant sound was heavy, guitar-powered rock. With all four members contributing material, original numbers such as 'Beautifully Day' (sic), the fuzz guitar-propelled 'Evolmia', 'I Just Don't Know' and the extended 'Tom's Island' offered up a series of high energy guitar powered rockers that were both tuneful and structural interesting. side 1) 1.) Released two years after their debut, 1971's "Thinkin'" found Banchee signed to Polydor. It also found the group expanded to a five piece with the addition of singer/percussionist Fernando Roman (who happened to be Jose Miguel deJesus' cousin). With the band co-producing with an assist from Dave Palmer and Ralph Moss (Jimi Hendrix manager Michael Jeffrey credited as executive producer), the sophomore set found the band aiming for an even tougher rock sound. Unlike the debut which was a largely democratic project with everyone contributing to the writing chores, this time around singer/rhythm guitarist Jose Miguel deJesus was responsible for the majority of the material (lead guitarist Peter Alongi contributing two tracks). Kicked along by Alomgi's squealing lead guitar (this is one of those great headphone LPs), some understated Latin percussion, and their "group" lead vocals, songs such as the blazing opener 'John Doe', 'Willya' and the title track made for hard rock that was simultaneously tuneful and commercial. At least to my ears the results recalled Santana at their most rocking, or perhaps Manassas-era Stephen Stills. While it wasn't particularly original, or groundbreaking, this was one of those rare albums where there simply wasn't a bad song on the entire set. No, it wasn't perfect, but it beat the crap out of scores of better known and selling competitors. Curiously this is the album that seems to attract critical attention (it's listed in one of the Hans Pokora reference books), though I find the debut just as entertaining. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

What's flashing our minds are the Andes, La Paz and flute music by Indios. But there are some great rock & underground bands such as Wara, Climax and most of all Estrella De Marzo. This album (still unknown to most collectors) is not only special because it's from an country not many listeners know much about. This album is so great, so much underground, so unique and well crafted, that it goes into a strong competition with most "classic underground releases" from South America. If you are in to wild fuzz guitar ala Zappa, and if you like Kissing Spell from Chile, beautiful vocals with strong lyrics and great beats , you will love this album. The early Pink Floyd has also influenced this album. For us it was one of the big musical discoveries for this year. Every track is great, high spirit progressive underground rock, as good as it can be. Its All Meat were a late 60s/early 70s band that hailed from Toronto and released this excellent album in 1970 (Columbia). Their album was released the following year and feartured 8 fresh original numbers written by drummer Rick McKIM and keyboard player/lead vocalist Jed MacKAY. There are a bunch of good, solid stonesy garage rockers that form the axis of this lp: "Make Some Use Of Your Friends," "Roll My Own," "You Brought Me Back To My Senses," and "You Dont Know The Time You Waste." The latter track would be released as the groups second and final single but "Roll My Own" and "Make Some Use Of Your Friends" were just as good, featuring fine psychedelic guitar work and raw vocals. Other note worthy tracks flirted with blues ("Self-Confessed Lover") and folk-rock ("If Only") but the lps brightest moments were its two 9-minute marathon compositions. "Crying Into A Deep Lake" was full-blown Doors psychedelia with spacey keyboards and spooky Jim Morrison influenced vocals. The other lengthy track, "Sunday Love," sounds like a strange Lou Reed/John Cale concoction with lots a great psychedelic guitar noise and soft folk-like passages sprinkled with light garage keyboards. So while these last two tracks are very long, they never wear out their welcome and are required listening for both garage and psych fans. The albums production teeters between a primitive recording sound and the typical major label gloss, making it just right. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

A close friendship to Jimi Hendrix, who toured also Sweden in 1968, dropped many tracks from the release plan when the band was recording an album which also came out that year. All tracks who where competing with the music of Jimi Hendrix was not released, until now. A collector from England found the unknown tracks who where pressed only as a demo LP for the band. What a great find. Some tracks where placed on youtube and collectors where starting raving about this album. Prof. Wolfff lived a short and intensive life in the early 70s, as a part of the krautrock adventure - with gigs all over Germany and a TV performance at the Talentschuppen (ARD- first German channel). The band unexpectedly split in March 1972, shortly after producing their first album 'Prof. Wolfff', which was released in 1972 by Metronome. Along with Ihre Kinder and Ton, Steine, Scherben, an important political rockband from Berlin, Prof. Wolfff was one of the first progressive rock bands in Germany exclusively singing German rock songs, even before Udo Lindenberg released his first 'German' album. As a result, other musicians were inspired to compose rock songs using German language. "Mixing pop, blues, jazz and classical with German political lyrics (krautrock style), Prof. Wolfff's self-titled album was produced by Ihre Kinder manager Jonas Porst. At times Prof. Wolfff sounds like a strong blues rock act mixed with a bit of classical and psychedelia while at other times they come off as a mixture of pop and barbershop. Prof. Wolfff's album contains five tracks, the three best of which are extended. Led by a great raw guitar sound and classical-styled hammond organ, 'Hetzjagd', the albums jewel, showcases the bands ability to piece together various elements into an accessible track. 'Hans Im Gluck' contains more prominent hammond organ. The two shorter tracks 'Missverstandnis' and 'Das Zimmer' are lighter fare and contain poppy chorus vocals. Finally, the album closes with 'Weh Uns', a heavier track containing a hard progressive sound highlighted by guitar solos and classical motifs. This box starts a series of several releases in the near future: all releases of one band in one box, all with the original covers. BLOPS made 3 albums in Chile, all incredibly rare. The music is most beautiful. If you think you like El Congreso, you love Kissing Spell and Embrujo you will adore the music of the Blops. The first album from 1970 is pure underground folk with some electric moments, the second from 1971 becomes more electric still with most touching songs which makes you shiver and the third album from 1973 is complete electric and psychedelic with a progressive touch. Members of Kissing Spell + Embrujo (which will be released as a box-set too in the near future) became later members of Blops. The music from underground in Chile is well-known for perhaps the best music in whole South America. Originally this extraordinary heavy-psychedelic-blues rock album was recorded in L.A., in 1969. The album contains 8 original cuts of 42 mins playing time, and presents the "NEW" dark, haunted and aggressive progress in electric music of the end-sixties. The band name was a creation, to credit the two founding members, so the C (Carey) K (Kewley) Strong caravan began in the summer of 69, a bit later Geoff Westen, the second guitarist joined and the creative unit CK(W) Strong was born. There was a big hope, that this extremely talented group will breakthrough, as the liner notes on the cover express: "Hearing is believing, but even then, you'll come away shaking your head in disbelief...everything original, everything ebullient and everything "strong" in modern-day record production. Miss Carey is worth the price of admission, even if she didn't sing. A radiating, well-endowed blonde, her pyromagnetic caroling scans three octaves. To these ears she's at least the equal of Janis Joplin. Our guess is that C.K. Strong will be one of the major chart acts of '69." Lynn Carey, who also contributed to the cult-soundtrack of "Valley Of The Dolls", left the group shortly before the production of the second album started, to evolve into a solo career as "Mama Lion", Jefferson Kewley later joined the Alice Cooper Band and toured also with Jerry Garcia, together with Geoff Westen both performed with Mac Davis. Westen performed also with the underground psychedelic band, "The Other Half", but soon became owner of Oz Studios in L.A. First time available on CD, Cold Sun from Austin, Texas was recorded in 1970 in the legendary Sonobeat studios, where the Mariani and Johnny Winter first LPs were produced. The Cold Sun band are considered contemporaries of Velvet Underground and The Fugs, often listed as being in a similar vein but inspirations for this unique piece actually go back to the desperated, haunted Joe Meek. All songs lyrically express dark, mystic poetry with the true 60s psychedelic floating/distorted fuzz spirit presented in short compact mini-epics along with several mind blowing long tunes, such as "Ra-Ma" (11 min), "Here In The Year" (9 min) and "Fall" (7 min). Discovered by Rockadelic Records of Dallas, Texas in 1991, the Dark Shadows album saw the light of day the next year as a limited LP version, to become today one of the most important and revered US psychedelic underground albums from the early 70s. ---(Rockadelic heard it in the form of an old scratchy acetate that one of the Cold Sun band members had made in order to be able to play the recording at friendsparties on their turntables. The acetate only contained 2/3 of the songs but so greatly impressed them that Rockadelic managed together with bandleader Bill Miller to release the complete sessions from mastertape.)--- Autoharp wizard Miller eventually spearheaded Roky Erickson international debut as the Cold Sun band joined forces with Roky in 1974 and became BliebAlien, later evolved into The Aliens and backed Roky on his famous albums and historical concerts.--- Carefully remastered from the mastertapes, this album will bring new rewarding listening experiences in expanded fidelity, plus 2 unreleased non-album songs, authentic Live/Concert recordings of "Live Again"(10 min) and "Mind Aura"(7 min). The Concrete Rubber Band was a small, Kansas-based "Jesus Band" that performed from the late 1960s to early 1970s. 1974 release on the Missouri-based American Artists label (AAS1164), of which only 2 or three copies are known to be exist in private collections. Despite the song titles, this is actually a strange and unusual rock album which just happens to have religious undertones. There's lots of organ, fuzz guitar, male and female lead vocals and masses of electronic embellishments. This is Christian psychedelia at its most extreme, with synthesized bubbling lava pits, frequency oscillations, distorted sci-fi vocals and short-wave static patterns. The album is littered with some of the most extreme fuzz guitar you'll ever hear, loads of scatty electronic effects, and even a flying saucer sequence right out of Dark Side Of The Moon. The whole project has a dense, murky home-made feel, and Duncan Long, the man behind the synths, guitars and song writing is now a successful sci-fi author. The album was recorded in one of the band's living rooms on a 2-track tape recorder. Only 500 copies were pressed, and most of these were given away when the album failed to realize commercial success. Many thanks to Duncan Long , who give us the 12 excellent Bonus Tracks. He told us that the brother/sister band John & Philipa Cooper went shortly after the album was made to Britain and there it lost track. This amazing album has the same class as Billy Nichols, Duncan Browne and Blossom Toes. Many other musicians from S.A. where helping out. Every track is just great. Well composed underground songs, folk rock, effects, pop tunes just the right mixture for an album full of ideas and mastercraftly played. Perhaps one of the rarest albums from S.A. This album would have been a great success if it was produced in UK. It just has the right feel with the combination of great songs with an 60s art-vibe. Are you ready to bring the authentic roots of Free-Flowing Krautrock Jams and true festival feeling to your home? Embryo and the Burg Herzberg Festival is a long story. 40 years ago, when the first one happened in the old castle, Embryo was there. After that performance they even got robbed, a blue painted violin and a good amp were gone for ever. In all the years following the festival got bigger and changed to a different place to find room for the growing audience and stages. Embryo played there many times in different line-ups. This performance was a sort of chill out act for the whole festival. The nucleus of this band (Jens, Lothar, Mik. Marja, Christian) had grown through all the many years on tour to a steady line-up, supported by five other friends: On trumpet Werner, who was introduced by Mik, one of the few good oboe-players around. On guitar Valentin Altenberger. His father is a modern jazz drummer and his mother, a jazzsinger who grew up in the family of Bobbie Jones, known for his work with Charles Mingus, so he grew up in a musical surrounding and knows Marja since his childhood. On oud and guitar Andy Rust who knows much about Indian culture and is with Embryo since some years. The third electric guitar is played by Bjorn Eric Munz from Ensemble ORIENT-EXPRESS, also good friends of Embryo. On Percussion Norbert Keck who had been playing with the band almost on all the Herzberg gigs in the last years. This CD presents a rawer electric set by Embryo - (cause the wet and cold wind at the Festival weekend made it too hard to tune the acoustic instruments! The album was originally released in 1969 on Dot-Records but didnt receive too much attention - maybe it appeared as a "too" freaked out heavy version of Jefferson Airplane or Big Brother & the Holding Co. The group started back in Atlanta Georgia in 1967 as a quartet with 2 guitars and played true Psychedelic sound, recorded at the Record Plant in NYC, and moved to Woodstock (NY). Their 5 original tunes, 2 arrangements of traditional tunes and 3 others are electric heavy blues with a strong Hendrix feel with duelling guitarwork, an outstanding female voice/vocals/screams...lots of intense stereo effects. They performed at Woodstock Festival in 1968 (one year before...) and at the hottest locations of NYC as Filmore East. Ellen McIlwaine, the founder of the group made an international solo career as blues-singer and slide guitarist sharing the bill with Jimi Hendrix, Laura Nyro, Howlin' Wolf, Weather Report, Taj Mahal, George Thorogood, Tom Waits, Chicago, Bruce Springsteen and played a series of concerts with Johnny Winter. This release, is issued with stunning soundquality and includes a nice booklet with pictures and biographical background. - For all 60s collectors who are not familiar with this masterpiece - its a must - there a not many groups that were able to present the freewheelin' live on stage feeling on their studio album! 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

The experimental guitar-driven musician collective, iH8 Camera (="i hate camera") from Antwerp, Belgium was formed by 2004, around the nucleus of the "Love Substitutes". iH8 Camera performs rarely but frequently live and in changing line-ups and Trip In Time discovered them for the Burg Herzberg Festival 2006 (Europes biggest Hippie Fest). The Sextett arrived at the Freakstage just in time for their set - ready to plug in and perform this mindblowing 50 min improvisational Freak-Out-Show..their odyssey seemed long and must have been impressive to the band; finally they got inspired to name their 7 songs after cities from the area which have been passed on this trip, lyrics reflect the "true" stories about life on road! For sure youll recognize influences of Pink Floyds early period (69-71), 13th Floor Elevators - but also more modern ones, such as "Radiohead" or "Deus" (Ward & Trouv are former Deus members). We assume that not many festival visitors will remember this show.but finally this awesome performance will be available, mixed by the band and mastered to excellent sound-quality. These catchy and floating psychedelic sounds will leave no one untouched! The iLLiad is a young quintet from Ohio. A creatively produced demo put World In Sounds attention to the band leader Kyle Pittman, an introverted and deeply emotional singer and guitarist. "A Sad Day on Pluto" was recorded in Cleveland, Ohio (2007) and contains 13 original tunes reflecting a tasty spectrum between early Pink Floyd jamming, 60s garage/flower-power and loner Folk style, and feature very catchy lyrics combined with interesting "psychedelicate" melodies. Pittmans music captures a unique style of composing fresh music with the influences of Syd Barretts Pink Floyd, West Coast Pop Art Exp. Band, Velvet Underground, Marc Bolan and David Bowie. A massive, swirling Hammond Organ by Winnie Rimbach-Sator (also plays keys with Treacle People) is in communication with excessive Stratocaster guitar solos melting into unexpected orgies of sounds. This album contains 4 originals and 4 improvised covers tunes which are Dark Star (Grateful Dead), Witches Moon (Quicksilver Messenger Service), a heavy Spacepatrol Orion version (authorized by Peter Thomas - Sci-Fi Sound from the mid-60s) and Yoo Doo Right (Can) as a 17 min. version with stunning moog space parts and tribal voodoo percussions. The production sounds natural and grew from a free concept to a strong compact album of 65 mins intense music. (btw: 3/4 of the band support the US-group Dragonwyck at live shows). Hailing from Ferns in Co. Wexford Shades of MacMurrough formed in 1971. They made several appearances on RTE television and released their debut single Julia on Dolphin Records in 1971. Comprised of Mary and Josephine ONeill and Paul Kavanagh they sepcialised in close harmonies and accompanied themselves on 6&12 string guitars,spinet, autoharp, tin whistle and bodhran. MacMurrough now comprised of Mary Kavanagh (nee ONeill) and Paul Kavanagh recorded their third album Merry and Fine in Dublin and Wexford in Autumn 1977. Released early in 1978 on Polydor Ireland pressing was limited to 500 copies. Their sublime male/female vocal harmonies reign with Paul and Mary accompanying themselves on guitars, dulcimer, whistle, concertina and bodhran. Merry and Fine features a mix of traditional and contemporary material from the Irish, English, Scottish and Breton folk repertoires. Local songs from their native Wexford include The Wexford Fishing Song, Buncloudy, Lowlands Low, The Croppy Boy and Boulavogue the latter two from the 1798 rebellion. Breton Dance/Musical Priest highlighted links between Irish and Breton traditional music while Ian Campbells The Old Mans Tale is bitingly contemporary. Savage Grace was Detroit's progressive/hard rock band of the late 1960's, standing apart from the "high-energy" combos the Motor City is best known for. With Guitarist Ron Koss, keyboardist John Seanor, and drummer Larry Zack as the nucleus of a jazzy trio called Scarlet Letter (with two 7"s on the legendary Mainstream label), the addition of gravel-voiced bassist Al Jacquez transformed the group into Savage Grace. The band was soon signed to Reprise and released their eponymous debut album in 1970, probably best-remembered for its powerful version of "All Along The Watchtower". Upon moving to Los Angeles the following year, the group embarked on a second album, leaving behind most of the progressive elements in exchange for a tougher, snarling, riff-rock attack, best exemplified by the wah-wah-soaked opening track "Mother's Son". By 1972, the trail had ended and the group went their separate ways. Savage Grace never achieved the success that seemed their due; certainly their musicianship was top notch and their songwriting was good enough, but in the long run the band's eclecticism was unable to find a mainstream audience. SPROTON LAYER was a psychedelic rock band based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which thrived from the fall of 1968 through the summer of 1970. They began under the name "Freak Trio" - three hyperactive brothers, Laurence, Ben, and Roger Miller who became, at the young ages of 14-16, addicted to Pink Floyd's "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" when it came out in 67! Their unique and euphoric creation of music ranges from progressive-acid-punk to heavy psychedelia with catchy chord changes and Spaghetti Western Ennio Morricone flashes, with epic results. The energy of "With Magnetic Fields Disrupted", which was recorded in 1970, is just unbelievable. Twelve strong, intense space music episodes of destruction and rebirth with NO FILLER! Journalist Michael Azerrad described their recordings in his book OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE as "...a valuable document of an amazing band that sounded like Syd Barrett fronting Cream". The album was first released in 1991 by New Alliance Records, but it did not catch much recognition among the '60's collector freaks. Here is the next chance to discover the whole story of one of the "almost forgotten" US underground art-performance groups. Forty minutes long, the album was remastered from the original tapes creating a fresh, organic and punchy sound. The booklet features extended band info and about four dozen artifacts including drawings, set lists, photographs, journal entries and more. A largely forgotten name in the Irish Rock and Folk annals, folk-rock outfit Spud formed in Dublin in 1973. A four piece electric folk outfit Spud gathered their material from Irish traditional and English folk music mixed with American Bluegrass styles and original material. Influenced initially by Steeleye Span /Fairport Convention they quickly developed their own individual and highly distinctive sound. With a considerable live reputation, Spud established an enthusiastic following in Ireland, UK and Europe. Signed to Polygran they scored an Irish chart single with The Wind in the Willows in 1974. Their first album A Silk Purse was released in December 1974. They appeared at Cambridge Folk Festival 1975 and toured the UK with Richard and Linda Thompson in late 1975. Their second album The Happy Handful was mixed and produced by Simon Nicol. It features an eclectic array of Celtic inspired sounds from electric jigs and reels to an Irish madrigal, exciting rock based arrangements of traditional songs and a version of The Wild Rover unheard anywhere. 1. A TURKISH-LEPRECHAUN by birth, with a childhood fully immersed in music and art, Jem first made his mark as vocalist/bassist/main songwriter for the DETROIT power-trio legends "THIRD POWER" (Believe LP, Vanguard Records/1969). After the band drifted apart in 1972, a despondent Jem took up home recording, laying down hours of tape on a Teac 4-track. The best cuts were selected and LUCKEY GUY was self-released in 1978, with Jem pasting up the gatefold covers and handling all sales himself in true "DIY" fashion. Never staying with one style too long, the album flits among spaced-out guitar ( "Bumble Bee Drive" ), tortured, dissonant piano ( "Ring Out The Bells" ), and a sparse, apocalyptic tale ( "The Bomb Tune" ) and Jem's eeeeeeerie harmonies woven throughout, and few cues to indicate its mid-70's vintage. Were we to shamelessly namedrop we might mention Syd, Skip, Todd (solo), Brian Wilson and Gary Wilson as starting points ..... but we're above that ..... Part 1: With the help of many music friends and a lot of patience we could finally arrange a deal to reissue the 3 albums by the South African band THE THIRD EYE for the first time. The original pressing came out on Polydor. Perhaps THIRD EYE is the best band from S.A. with the most innovative and complex music. Most music lovers would vote Freedoms Children as the biggest influence in S.A,. rock but THIRD EYE will share at least half of that cake. In cooperation with Dawn Selby (hammond organ) and her brother Ron (guitar) this project came to life again. They where based in Durban, a coastal city several hundred miles away from the recording and musical hub of Johannesburg and started playing in 1968. The first album AWAKENING came out in 1969 when the female organ player Dawn Selby was only 14 years old. Just imagine her age when you listen to the amazing organ and piano tracks. AWAKENING was released in 1969 followed by 2 more albums SEARCHING and BROTHER just one year later in 1970. What a musical output in such a short time. The band and composer must have sit on a volcano where they just waited to outburst their music onto the rock universe. AWAKENING is the most complex album of the 3 with great brass arrangements, piano, hammond organ, fuzz-guitar and vocals full of soul. Biographic information: All members are in their early/mid twenties and the history of Treacle People begins in 1998 in Worms (south-western part of Germany). They are inspired by the roots of the progressive and psychedelic hard rock from 60's and early 70's, the time period in which youth celebrated musical excesses creatively and revolutionary. Classically trained they practiced themselves in the works of Deep Purple, Led zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, E.L.P, King Crimson and Pink Floyd. Trubrot was the first supergroup ever founded in Iceland. It was created in May 1969 when leading members of Hljomar (Sounds) and Flowers set out to create the finest Icelandic rock group of all time. Guitarist and composer Gunnar Thorgarson bass player and singer Runar Juliusson and lead vocalist Shady Owens of Hljomar had been plotting this for some months, along with organist Karl Sighvatsson and drummer Gunnar Jokull Hakonarson of Flowers, before the bands genesis was announced publicly. These were troubled times and Trubrot had countless hurdles to overcome before the band eventually fell apart early in 1973. After the dbut album was released in December 1969 by EMI. After this album vocalist Shady Owens announced that she was quitting. Trubrot recorded 3 more albums which will be released on Shadoks too. Tony Branwell of Apple Records was saying these were one of the two best bands he had seen perform on stage in the preceding six months. Really cool underground album full of musical ideas and well-crafted music, male & female vocals.
