This new release is an interesting meeting between two local bands proving that the DIY scene goes beyond music styles and that people can have more in common than they think. The name of GaBLé is now familiar for a certain number of people in the european indie scene due to non-stop touring and the release of three albums in less than 5 years. Their music consists of a very personnal assembling of folk, pop and electronic music. EXHAUSTION was formed in early 2010 (with Amanda Woodward, Karysun, Zombies Are Pissed, Fuaim Catha... folks) and recorded a demo a couple of months after. Their music is influenced by different punk-hardcore subgenres from crust, disbeat to more melodic stuff. Each band has covered the other one with their own musical identity, GaBLé have made an intimist pop version of the song "Dead Trees" from EXHAUSTION demo while EXHAUSTION have made a progressive and raging punk version of "Drunk Fox in London" from GaBLé's debut album "Seven Guitar and a Cloud of Milk". In addition to the cover songs, each band delivers an original track. Both bands also collaborate for the artwork and there are three different artwork versions and cover colors available for this 7" ! 		POP/ROCK

Columbus, Ohio forms the southern point of Ohio's golden triangle of D.I.Y. (with Cleveland at the north, and someplace between Akron and Youngstown to the east). From these few hundred square miles emerged dozens of bands whose musical roots flow directly from the splendidly guileless art-rock of Rocket From the Tombs and Pere Ubu-with barely a trace of Ramones, Sex Pistols or Elvis Costello... SCREAMING URGE's "Homework" is this series' theme-song. They were certainly the punkiest outfit in the gloriously experimental Columbus scene at the turn of the '80s, but the thoroughly un-punk artwork on their LPs and the EP still scares off the headbangers. They played the heck out of Columbus' clubs, church halls, sidewalks and a burlesque club they rented. Finders Keepers Records are happy to announce a new creative archive based relationship with Suzanne Ciani, a very unique and celebrated experimental composer in her own right, who, as one of the very few female composers in the field (Save Chicago's Laurie Spiegel, Italy's Doris Norton, and a post-op Walter Wendy Carlos) turned a hugely significant wheel behind-the-screens of many early computerised music modules throughout the 1980s dating back to her formative years studying at Stanford's Artificial Intelligence Labs in the early 70s. Suzanne Ciani's detailed and academic approach to music and electronics coupled with an impeccable sense of timing and melody (and a good sense of humour) shines throughout this new collection of previously unreleased recordings. Lixiviation complies and re-contextualises both secret music and commercial experiments of Suzanne Ciani made for microcosmic time slots and never previously documented on vinyl or CD. This is the first sneak peek of the early Ciani metal music and non-pop that later went on see her nominated for multiple Grammy awards for her later achievements which brought synthesiser music to the new age movement. 		60s/70s ELECTRONICA

A long-overdue vinyl repress of this 1977 US punk masterpiece. The Consumers were originally just three guitar players with no rhythm section-Paul Cutler, Mikey Borens and lyricist / lead singer David Wiley, all bonded by love of psychedelic Euro-prog jazz like Henry Cow, Gong and Robert Wyatt-whod stopped listening to rock n roll after Bowies Spiders from Mars came out around 1972. By 77 our guys had re-discovered rock through Britpunk pub raunch like The Sex Pistols and The Damned. Cutler and high school bud Wiley had even driven all the way to L.A. determined to hunt down a copy of The Pistols "Anarchy in the UK" single. In the pre-Internet days there wasnt a record store anywhere in Arizona that had even heard of it, let alone stocked it. All My Friends Are Dead was The Consumers "fuck you" to Phoenix since nearly all their gigs there ended in brawls with long-haired rockers and other redneck gnarlers pounding on the band for daring to play punk rock in public in 1977! It didnt take long to suss. Head on out. Just before they packed for L.A. in early 78 the band managed to get themselves on tape during a single session blow-out frenzy. All My Friends Are Dead successfully captures The Consumers as a pissed-off-yet-still-fun, no-frills, punk-rockin band... exactly who and what they were during their extremely short and sweet existence. After a few months of violent and intense live shows at The Masque and other local punk dives, the band finally imploded. Some headed back to Phoenix and some stayed on in L.A. to form new bands. Cutler went on to form the goth / punk 45 Grave and still later joined the Dream Syndicate. Wiley formed the Pasadena art rock Human Hands. Sadly, today there are only two surviving members of The Consumers. Sadder still, what passes for punk rock today is easy listening when compared to All My Friends Are Dead. Originally planned to be released on Dangerhouse Records, first issued by In The Red in 1994 in a limited edition of 500 copies and long-out-of-print on vinyl. 		70s/80s/90s PUNK/HC

'Bokoboko' comes from the Japanese and means 'uneven', 'hollow-sounding' - adjectives aptly describing the album's crooked, dynamic grooves as well as the many percussively resounding instruments. Friedman, recognizable more or less by the sound of the ten instrumental tracks, plays prepared oil barrels/steel drums, all kinds of wood and metal percussion, gongs, monochord, a home-made rubber-band guitar, organ, synthesizer, and electric guitar. The uneven types of rhythm, which provide the specific oscillation on which all the tracks are based, in principle obey all the components: melodies, noises, monophone sequences and dub echoes inserted into pre-sketched, programmed basic tracks. The tracks of the current production, like those in Secret Rhythms, Friedman's live-and-studio project with Jaki Liebezeit, must be viewed as intermediate phases in an on-going process. They are not finalized, completed pieces that permit no further alteration, nor do they correspond to the idea of an original with unmistakable identity. Limited 400 black vinyl copies with POSTER. There are really two versions of this Norwegian band: the metal one and the symphonic one. They were originally formed in 1973 by two guitarists, a bassist, keyboardist and vocalist who indulged in hard rock. No sooner had they released an album than three members split, leaving the bassist and vocalist on their own. The two recruited three new members and released a second album of an entirely different sort. but They split up in 1978, briefly reformed in 1991 for a couple of concerts then went their separate ways until they did a reunion gig in 2011 at an outdoor festival with two separate line ups and shows. Their first release ' Pa Sterke Vinger' is a hard rocker that could almost be described as a proggy version of IRON MAIDEN (two years before this band was even born!), complete with dual guitars battling it out, pumping bass and the appropriate harsh vocals. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

The Lijadu Sisters were the most successful female group in Nigeria in the 1970s and managed to overturn many stereotypes and attitudes as they carved out a unique space for themselves in a predominantly male arena. Their influences ranged from female soul singers such as Aretha Franklin, The Pointer Sisters and Miriam Makeba to the afro-beat of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti as well as the juju music of I.K. Dairo and the highlife of Victor Olaiya. The Lijadu Sisters, identical twins Taiwo and Kehinde Lijadu, grew up in Ibadan, Nigeria. They recorded their debut album for Decca Records in 1969. At the start of the 1970s the two singers joined ex-Cream drummer Ginger Bakers short-lived all-African group Salt (which also included future members of the Afro-Rock group Blo). This album brings together the best of their tracks from the four albums recorded for the Afrodisia label in Nigeria - 'Danger' (1976), 'Mother Africa' (1977), 'Sunshine' (1978) and 'Horizon Unlimited' (1979). Limited vinyl version housed in deluxe gatefold sleeve. May Blitz have been compared to Led Zeppelin, the early Black Sabbath, or the early Uriah Heep. The only difference being that May Blitz never had their great breakthrough. Their history ended after only two LPs which, however, are today in high demand. On Tuesday, 22nd October 1970, the group performed in the Gruga hall at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival. The event was recorded semi-professionally. The recordings could be purchased from the promoters and were mastered in a studio with great effort and care. The sound, however, is naturally not as good as that of the two studio LPs. The 32-page booklet contains a long band history in German and English, photographs, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros as well as a personal retrospective report by guitarist and singer James Black. The starting point of Drape Me in Velvet was a large collection of cassettes and reel to reel tapes from the 1950s and 1960s, many inherited from relatives. During the three years the album was recorded on these tapes, they were treated and mistreated with tools and violence. New sounds and instruments were recorded over the older recordings. The tapes were mistreated again, scratched, wrinkled. Layer upon layer of melodies and tape memories were brought together to a whole where music for silent films, exotic easy listening and French chanson are some of the strands in the braid. The result is a historical collage where the passing of time is heard in anachronistic piano melodies and disintegrating chords. Ghosts of former recordings whisper in the warm background noise. This is music for amusement parks with neglected maintenance. Drape Me in Velvet is an album so particular in nature that one gets ecstatic. The melodies and production are instantly recognizable as Musette's own. A new language is created. Rockin' Horse's 'Yes It Is' has been critically hailed as one of the true lost British power pop relics. When the late Greg Shaw (Bomp Records and Magazine) created his Voxx subsidiary, the first single he decided to reissue was Rockin' Horses' 1971 magnum opus single, 'The Biggest Gossip In Town'. Shaw declared that the single was the greatest power pop song of all time. It definitely was heady stuff. The power pop sounds of 'Yes It Is' have been favorably compared to the best of The Beatles' 'Let It Be' era and Badfinger's early 1970 efforts. As an homage, the band's name was drawn from The Beatles' 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' and the album title itself from The Beatles' B-side of 'Ticket To Ride'. Rockin' Horse was formed in 1971 by lifelong best friends Jimmy Campbell (The Kirkbys/23rd Turnoff) and Billy Kinsley (The Merseybeats/The Merseys) after the end of their respective Liverpool bands had split. Joining the Liverpool core duo were hired studio guns: Bobby Falloon (guitar), Stan Gorman (drums) and Michael Snow (keyboards). Having been schooled in the very same musical influences as the Fab Four, the end result is eerily similar to the sound the Beatles were creating at the end of their career during 1968-1970. The album was not an attempt to "ape" The Beatles' sound, but more the end product of having grown up as contemporaries of The Beatles in Liverpool and listening to the same records and playing the same circuits. How could they not end up sounding similar? Locating a copy of the original album is close to impossible and very expensive. 'Sjunga Slutet Nu' (Sing The End Now), the new long-awaited project by Hans Appelqvist, consists of both an album and a film. The work is about the angst and silencing of death and the meeting with the final end. The film and album have the atmosphere of a fairy-tale that feels both natural and original, a world where talking levitating spheres seem as ordinary as man. In it, we meet Theodora, an elderly woman that lives in a lonely house by a lake somewhere in Sweden. We also meet her friends: the six-years-old boy Vissen and the levitating sphere Sot that often stays close to Theodora's house or rests in the pile of flour that lies prepared for him in the kitchen. Both the music on the album Sjunga Slutet Nu and the film originate from the same world. Part of the dialogue, background sounds and musical scenes of the film are used to deepen the atmosphere of the album. The structure is complex - threads are picked-up and woven together in a way similar to the free nonlinear narrative of dreams. Due to a long time growing interest into local 60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherines Horse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokoras "1001 Record Collectors Dream Book". But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that its an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. The LP incl. long time standards such as "Good Morning Little School Girl", "Think Twice", "One More Mile" or "Cant Keep From Cryin" mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenstons "Rocket 88" or Jagger / Richards "Good Times, Bad Times". The only group original ''Sun Going Down'' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the groups effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release from 15 month ago, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the bands history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia. The bands self-released "Got Good (if you get it)" LP, recorded between 1969 and 1971, and given the deluxe master-tape reissue treatment here, is a mixture of up-tempo heavy guitar rockers and well-written dreamy acid-folk tracks: in other words, some folk, some folk-rock, a hard-edged bluesy cut with heavy guitar (Messiah) that sounds like Fat (on RCA), and two live songs (Midnight Watch and Driver) with filthy, snarling guitar that sound like they slipped off side two of the Oliver Klaus album. The band members were nominally influenced by the big British Invasion bands (the Beatles, the Hollies), as well as Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the Grateful Dead. The live tracks in this set are certainly some of the toughest sounding cuts on this collection. A second Kansas City Jammers LP was recorded during the summer of 1972, but was never released, until now; disc two includes all of the tracks that were meant for that release-all told, 45 minutes of additional Kansas City Jammers music! The "Got Good (if you get it)" album has long been a favorite of psychedelic collectors and those in the know-the Acid Archives entry, for example, is full of compliments for the bands "strong vocals and songwriting throughout." The story of the Kansas City Jammers is probably akin to that of many excellent bands who had short careers. May Blitz have been compared to Led Zeppelin, the early Black Sabbath, or the early Uriah Heep. The only difference being that May Blitz never had their great breakthrough. Their history ended after only two LPs which, however, are today in high demand. On Tuesday, 22nd October 1970, the group performed in the Gruga hall at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival. The event was recorded semi-professionally. The recordings could be purchased from the promoters and were mastered in a studio with great effort and care. The sound, however, is naturally not as good as that of the two studio LPs. The 32-page booklet contains a long band history in German and English, photographs, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros as well as a personal retrospective report by guitarist and singer James Black. It has excellent themes-silken, moody, and exotic-with sitar (reputedly played by Ananda) coupled with electric guitars, synthesizers, flute, vibes, organ, some strange and wonderful percussion that should make dj's smile, and strings (yes, as in string section). Amazing, ambitious, complex, and trippy, in a groovy sort of way. The music blends traditional Indian instrumentation with a bit of Western-styled ambiance, all flowing in a flowing sort of way like some lost groovy soundtrack. Why has no one heard of this record? thats easy-because it was pressed up and sold only on Air India flights as an aural souvenir of their homeland! A nice discovery 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

The publication Sounds from Beneath focuses on a project initiated by Mikhail Karikis, who invited visual artist Uriel Orlow to collaborate with him on a video which explores the sounds of coalmines and their memories among the disappearing community of elderly coalminers in Britain. The book features a DVD with the short film Sounds from Beneath centering around a choral piece for which Karikis worked over a six-month period with an ex-miners' choir whom he asked to remember and sing the subterranean sounds they used to hear inside the coalmines. In the video, a desolate disused colliery in England, once populated with workers, engines and the sounds of their activities, transforms into an amphitheatre resonating noises of underground explosions, machines cutting the coal, shovels scratching the arth, and the melody of the Miner's Lament, all sung by Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir standing in formations reminiscent of the picket lines during the miner-strikes. Sounds from Beneath continues Karikis's exploration of the voice as a sculptural material and a tool to investigate the politics of marginalised communities, and connects with Orlow's interest in landscape as a site of memory and history. The book includes three essays by distinguished cultural theorist Steven Connor, contemporary art curator Katerina Gregos, film theorist Lucy Reynolds, with a foreword by curator Sue Jones.
