After more than thirty years and quite surprisingly, current events have helped Electric Sandwich, the jazz rock band from Bonn/Germany, to catch up with the presence. In 1969, the members of a rather loose session line-up joined together to found Electric Sandwich. Instead of working on a fixed repertoire, the band preferred to stay spontaneous and as free as possible both from a personal and a musical point of view. Limited vinyl reissue. Formed at the end of the 60's, Gomorrha rised from the German progressive rock scene thanks to the help of the producer and sound engineer Conny Plank. The band original line up includes Helmut Pohl (drums) and Eberhard Krietsch (ogan, bass) with Ad Oschel and Ali Claudi at the guitars. They released their first album in 1970. The second recording "trauma" (1971) really marks a new step in the development of Gomorrha's original song. They distinguish with a dense heavy psych rock experience punctuated by organ dominated sequences. It now includes lyrics in English and a lead singer in the name of Peter Otten. In 1972 they release what will be considered as their summit "I Turned To See Whose Voice It Was"; An adventurous album featuring catchy instrumental jams, krautrock's original psych / spacey mood, pastoral flute parts and heavy guitar riffs. The concept of this release is focused on the apocalypse theme and the book of revelation. All 9 songs, except a Slayer cover of "Black Magic" (transformed into 60s garage-twist), were cut from instrumental one-take jams; no headphones and all performers incl. amps in one room . to feel the unfiltered natural vibes of the magical float, to get inspired in marching to the eternal outer-space-plateau as ONE unit. its the culmination of violent but also floating rocksound with truely authentic hard-driven 70s fuzz/space guitar overkills and spheric Hammond Organ layers. Limited edition of 500 copies. The 1st new track by Blood Axis after many years! Here sharing a 7" with the British folk singer and song writer Andrew King. The overall theme of this release is the prose of the German middle-ages. Blood Axis interprets a "Minnelied" by Walther von der Vogelweide, living in the 12th/13th century and proposed to be the most important German speaking poet of that time. Andrew King interprets a song by Oswald von Wolkenstein, living during the same period, who stands as the an example of a knight. The specialty on both tracks is that both interpreters are singing the songs in the original language: "Mittelhochdeutsch", the language of the literature of that time, spoken during the time of the Staufer emperors. It is quite interesting to hear how good both interpreters are able to pronounce this difficult old language and how well their own music fits to those lyrics. The long-awaited,long-whispered Magickal Folk album has finally arrived. People have been asking for a reissue for a long time and are being rewarded with a double CD. "The Mildew Leaf" and "The Cat's Melodeon" CDRs have long been out of print. Along with a track from the Gold Leaf Branches comp they make up Disc One. Disc Two is all new recordings, further exploring the Peter Kennedy songbook and beyond. We thank for your patience and are delighted to present this collection of songs to you. The Magickal Folk Of The Faraway Tree began when David Colohan (Agitated Radio Pilot, United Bible Studies) got his hands on a copy of Peter Kennedy's classic collection "Folksongs of Britain and Ireland". Along with Shane Cullinane (The Cosmic Nanou, United Bible Studies) he began to pick songs to work on. Disregarding the sheet music they simply wrote their own music for the traditional lyrics. Other songs such as Spencer The Rover and Donal Og were learned from recordings and heard in sessions and are more faithfully recorded. The newer recordings on disc two are augmented by original instrumentals in the old style. The actor Caroline Coffey (also heard on The Jonah by UBS) provides the sole female voice, sometimes a gentle ghostly whisper, other times a more like a banshee. She is also a more full-bodied presence on rousing songs such as Here's A Health To All True Lovers. Inevitably other members of United Bible Studies contributed; Gavin Prior, Scott McLaughlin and Sean Og who plays flute. While United Bible Studies and Agitated Radio Pilot are at the modern/progressive end of the folk contimuum, The Magickal Folk Of The Faraway Tree take a traditional approach, sticking to acoustic instruments. Nevertheless, purists may be perplexed when confronted with completely new melodies after perusing the familiar titles. Those who have never heard the 'originals' would have no reason to suspect the melodies were written in the 21st century. Therein lies the strength of this double album; Imagination and energy are brought to old songs but with a love of of the tradition evident at all times. 		FOLK/ACID FOLK

The Assassin - Murder? Crime of passion? As always, ROME's titles ought to be taken with a pinch of salt. ROME's new 'Chanson Noir' is speaking of man's enslavement in a world of constant transformation. The traditions of (French) Chanson and (American) Folk are becoming more and more influential in their current work. Chansonniers like LEO FERRE, JACQUES BREL and singer/songwriter heroes like CAVE, CASH and COHEN are obvious influences. The previous album "Flowers From Exile" already gave a first impression of what they themselves call 'Chanson Noir' - the darker side of singer/songwriter tradition: post-industrial-folk with bits and pieces of electronic pop, complex arrangements of breathtaking melodies, mesmerizing ballads of lyrical beauty, underlining ROME's ethos of never faltering or remaining uninvolved. Acid Witch plays a very trippy, psychedelic and unsurprisingly horror influenced form of doom metal. Yet its delivered with such unabashed childishness and goofiness, a possible result of what the Scoody Doo cartoon theme would sound like if Electric Wizard had penned it. You'l find elements of Cathedral here, some Witchfinder General there, and some slight nods to Pentagram. Add to that some of Electric Wizard's ultra bassy, fuzzy, and distorted guitar tone and booming production values. Like other traditional doom metal albums, the riffs and rhythm patterns move in a lumbering and lurching fashion yet somehow the Witchsters inject some nice doses of sensual grooves that recall 70's Deep Purple. During various listening sessions I felt like I was inside Satan smoke filled strip club watching strippers complete with horns and cloven hooves gyrating their lovely tail clad asses for the merriment of us sinners and then suddenly I somehow realized that perhaps hell isn't really a bad place after all. After much industry ballyhoo garnered from their intense live set, Priestess signed a deal in 2004 and released what is widely regarded as one of Canada's greatest hard rock debuts ever, Hello Master. Unlike most hard rock/metal bands that rely solely on ballast and blast to sear their message into gray matter, Priestess had a special trick up their sleeve - they could write a song that could walk the rope between being infectious and downright vicious. Armed with far more hooks than your average metal band, their unique style of driven melody with metal muscle and Marshall stack attack quickly earned them a die-hard fan base weary of death metal grunts and metal cliches. From the logo, with all its sharp points and angles, to the cover art of the two samurai warriors engaged in mortal combat. Then I put it on and lead singer Eligio Valenzuela literally screamed a dead-on early Savatage Jon Oliva scream that sent me back to Sirens and Dungeons are Calling. Roel (guitar) and Jelle Stevens (drums) craft heavy dirges that are all about The Riff. Their debut displays a love for amplifier tones and vintage Sabbath grooves. Black Cobra, Weedeater, and High on Fire comparisons are unavoidable, but the music is so immediate you cant process anything until after theyre done hammering your skull. The absence of vocals allow a deeper, more Neitzchian listening experience wherein the abyss stares back at you. My sole complaint is that there arent enough songs on here.
