The Amazing, instead, is a natural process: coming together through affection, then slowly crystallizing into a folk-rock- psych-pop- collective slowly pushing, bending then playing with any preconceived notions of pop. Already receiving unanimous critical acclaim in Sweden, their debut album is an all-encompassing sonic soundscape of groovy electric folk rock, psychedelic pop and airy acoustic ballads. The core musicians in The Amazing are - Christoffer Gunrup (Swedish singer/songwriter extraordinaire ex Granada), Reine Fiske (lead guitar wizard in Dungen), Johan Holmegard (drummer in Dungen and Life on Earth!), Fredrik Swahn (prominent Swedish multi-musician in Dreamboy, Anna Jarvinen) - with the intimacy permeating through the collection intensifying itself steadily in the music they produce. Take a track like "Deportation Day," or "The Kirwan Song," swimming idly through the groups twisted melody, yet luminously anchored by Reines astral guitar - plucked endlessly higher. Elsewhere the likes of "Dragon" and "Romanian" forgo interstellar for a more bucolic revelry, built upon acoustic laments and a vocal ripple that could only have spread itself outwards from Swedens forlorn beauty. Baby Grandmothers were a short-lived Swedish band, but one of the most prolific and unique psychedelic, modal, experimental power-trios to emerge out of the Scandinavian psychedelic underground-scene in 1967. Although hailing from Stockholm, Sweden they only released a single in Finland, which has since become one of the most sought after pieces of vinyl from the era. Baby Grandmothers were formed out of the legendary R&B / beat band T-Boones in the summer of 1967. T-Boones are probably best known for their "At the club/King of the Orient" single which is one of the best, and most collectable, out of the Swedish garage beat-era. This unique collection brings live-recordings made at Filips, their impossibly rare single and a rare live recording made in Finland. Bandleader Gustav Ejstes has made many allusions to his creative process as it likens to that of a hip-hop producer. Composed and self-produced in Nashville, "Mosaics; Pieces Of Stone" went unnoticed by the music industry upon release. Fortunately for us, it didnt disappear forever, but simply went into retreat, biding its time. While almost unknown outside specialist circles, "Mosaics" has been an underground cult favorite for many years. The combination of top-level songwriting, skillful guitar/keyboard arrangements and soaring vocals is just too impressive to ignore. And beyond these obvious qualities, the album has something subtle and unique, a magnetic power that keeps drawing the listener back. One of Jade Stone & Luv's earliest advocates was the legendary New York City musicologist Paul Major. The first album was something of a journey past summer green hills and skipping lambs; a celebration of the imperishable eternal beauty and a romantic observation of the world around us. Now the telescope is turned inside out. The focus is on the captain of the project, Mattias Gustavsson's own world. Confusion and contradiction are found in the front stalls, visions of ecstasy next to battles with demons and defunct relationships. The drums are given more space, and a Hammond organ has found its way along the layered vocals and languorous string arrangements. But even though the sound has grown both harder and bigger, the album is a natural follow-up with equal parts sound experimentation, folk and classic psychedelic pop, based on an acoustic guitar. Lisa Isaksson grew up in a small town on the outskirts of Stockholm where she spent most of her time in horse stables dreaming of becoming a riding teacher and owning her own stables. When she wasnt with the horses she was drawing and spending time on her own in the garden and fantasized about the future. As Lisa grew older and discovered music the drawings and horses soon turned into song lyrics and it wasnt long before Lisa had rescued her mothers old guitar from a life in the attic and began experimenting with her voice and songs and began exploring recording techniques with a 4-track recorder. Through the years her love of music continued to grow and she started performing with friends and eventually forming the band Piu together with her school buddies, Lisa's debut record was a single released in Scotland in 2007. The single got a lot of good reviews and Lisa & Piu gave a couple of concert on the British Isles as well as home in Stockholm. They also came to perform with the British folk musician Roger Wootton who led the legendary acid folk band Comus during the early 1970s. The performances went so well that they were released as a live album. As summer came and turned Sweden into a green and pleasant place again the core of Piu; Lisa, David, Joel and Anders went to a small cottage in the beautiful archipelago north of Stockholm. They arranged and rehearsed the music and also had a lot of fun on the cliffs enjoying the endless sunsets of midsummer. So started the making of what was to become the debut album: "When this was the future". The album is filled with delicious and bewitching woodland folk hymnals, eloquent yet eerie, and led by Lisas gossamer vocals, as delicate as a candle flame. The album is produced by Mattias Gustavsson (Life on Earth! / Dungen). 0329933 LP FA 6514 FEATHERED APPLE	NEW NADIR/ME AND THE OTHERS - UNCOVERED: 11 PREVIOUSLY... NOW AT HIGHER PRICE, SORRY! ...Unreleased 1966-67 Freakbeat Tracks Featuring Gary Thain". Groundbreaking split LP including 5 killer previously unreleased 1967 freakbeat/r'n'b/garage studio tracks by the legendary New Nadir featuring Ed Carter from San Francisco, California on lead guitar and vocals (=pre The Beach Boys); Gary Thain from Christchurch, New Zealand on bass (=pre Keef Hartley, and Uriah Heep); plus Peter Dawkins also from Christchurch, New Zealand on drums (=the greatest record producer from down under). The New Nadir have played some celebrated clubs in London such as the Speakeasy where they gigged a few times with Jimi Hendrix, who was supposed to produce their first record for the UK Polydor label, however after Ed Carter had received the offer to join The Beach Boys, the band split and nothing was ever released. The five tracks by The New Nadir on this LP were recorded on Monday, August 28th 1967, at a professional Swiss recording studio near Zürich, and capture them in great mood at their fantastic first recordings. The songs range from top freakbeat/garage masterpieces (TOMORROW, as well as I NEED HER NOW), thru unique eastern influenced freakbeat tracks with raga riffs (BLACK SNOW), and onto the pop-art sound of PEOPLE ARE CHANGING, and the rambling r'n'b/freakbeat/garage guitar instrumental WALKING. The LP is highlighted by the monster previously unreleased freakbeat track LOVE IS NOT A GAME, which was recorded by the pre-New Nadir outfit Me And The Others in November 1966, at Regent Sound Studios in London. This could easily hail as one of the greatest freakbeat tracks which was ever produced in the UK. Me And The Others were a mid 60s beat/r'n'b/freakbeat band from Christchurch, New Zealand featuring Peter Dawkins on drums, and vocals (=ex The Strangers); Dave Chapman on guitar, Gary Thain on bass (=ex The Secrets, and The Strangers), as well as Paul Muggleston on lead vocals, guitar, and organ (=ex The Secrets, The Dynamics, Atlantics, etc.). Full of ethnic (Arabic and Indian) spice with lots of the ethnic colour added by legendary guitar and sitar (et. al.) player Sigi Schwab (Embryo), oddly keyboard sounds by Wolfgang Dauner, dreamy bass patterns by Eberhard Weber and driving percussions by Fred Braceful and Roland Wittich, this is spacy, crazy, Krautrock and - a bit jazzy. Alan and Steven Freeman (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg) present this album in their "The Krautrock Top 100". Maybe the album was originally planned as a double-LP because there are 3 more titles from the same recording session, which really knock you out. "Kabul" (08:56) (title-name is program) is a killer, especially because of Schwabs exploding electric guitar and Webers driving bass. "Tau Ceti" (07:15) is a wonderful dreamy delight presenting Schwabs gorgeous acoustic guitar playing. The band MU was formed in 1969 when Merrell Fankhauser teamed up with Jeff Cotton of Captain Beefhearts band. When it was discovered that the Hawaiian Islands could have remnants of the sunken Mu civilization, the band decided to move to the island of Maui. But by 1974 all but Merrell Fankhauser had left for the mainland. Merrell was now staying with his girlfriend violinist Mary Lee in the two story Tarzan style jungle house which Merrell had built, complete with flowing lily ponds. The stream cascaded around the house forming a natural pool and waterfall, an ideal setting for Merrell to compose his laid back cosmic music. Around this same time the Tibetan Lama Kar Mapa came to the island for a meditation retreat that was sponsored by one of Merrell and Marys neighbours in the jungle. They did a special Black Crow ceremony with 400 devoted hippies all meditating for peace and harmony for all beings on the earth. Merrell and Mary were the first musicians in the United States to play modern music for the Lama. They lived in the Maui rain forest in their jungle retreat for over seven years. Late in 1975 they visited L.A and recorded the Maui Album. The album recording originally started at MCA Studios in Hollywood with producer Dino Airelli who went on to head up Dark Horse Records for George Harrison. Due to Dinos busy schedule he was unable to finish the album. It was later finished in San Francisco and came out on a small independent label Maui Music. It sold a few thousand copies and disappeared. The album is released here in its entirety with 7 bonus tracks including an unreleased version of "Some Of Them Escaped". When she wasnt with the horses she was drawing and spending time on her own in the garden and fantasized about the future. As Lisa grew older and discovered music the drawings and horses soon turned into song lyrics and it wasnt long before Lisa had rescued her mothers old guitar from a life in the attic and began experimenting with her voice and songs and began exploring recording techniques with a 4-track recorder. Through the years her love of music continued to grow and she started performing with friends and eventually forming the band Piu together with her school buddies, Lisa's debut record was a single released in Scotland in 2007. The single got a lot of good reviews and Lisa & Piu gave a couple of concert on the British Isles as well as home in Stockholm. They also came to perform with the British folk musician Roger Wootton who led the legendary acid folk band Comus during the early 1970s. The performances went so well that they were released as a live album. As summer came and turned Sweden into a green and pleasant place again the core of Piu; Lisa, David, Joel and Anders went to a small cottage in the beautiful archipelago north of Stockholm. They arranged and rehearsed the music and also had a lot of fun on the cliffs enjoying the endless sunsets of midsummer. Arised from the ashes of The Heretic Dreams Murder in the Cathedral was found in the beginning of the 90ties by Brothers Stephane (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Pascal Moru (bass, keyboards) and drummer Gilles Lepron. Influenced by new groups like Plasticland, Prisoners and in the tradition of 13th Floor Elevator, Chocolate Watchband or Plastic Cloud, the boys tried to create their own sound. Their first eponymous album (entired as Bonusalbum on this CD), released in 1996, shows a mixture of guitar-oriented neo-psyche in the vein of Plastic Cloud, Morgen and Grateful Dead. It consists of 8 titles, instrumental pieces alternating with vocal (sung in English) ones. It was very positively received in the neo-psychedelic underground and the limited edition of 500 was sold out within a few months. 2nd album "Afraid of." saw the light of day in 1999. Now the music is much more structured and contains less jam-like passages. According to the reviewers the crucial sound influences rage from the Byrds to Bevis Frond, combing the San Francisco acid sound of the 60ties with oriental sounds. In 1973/1974 Papa Zoot Band played all over Germany, mainly in clubs but also on festivals (German Pop Meeting 1st and 2nd February 1974 in Essen, Grugahalle). Lutz Sommer guitar, Robby Matthes bass, voc, Reinhard "Tammy" Grohe organ (Ex-Nosferatu !) and Christian Engel drums, voc. played mainly long tracks, very melodic but also with a sense of drama comparable to Nektar, Eloy, Jane or Pink Floyd. Outstanding 20 minutes title "Fly away" could be a long track by Pink Floyd of the Meddle/Wish you were here/Animals-era without being an imitation. The other two long tracks "I Wish" (9 minutes) and "Friendship or Love" (11 minutes) also show throughout fantastic guitar and organ work (as you know it from "Nosferatu" album). Unbelievable that Papa Zoot Band never made an album. 4 Years after they called it a day, Papa Zoot Band played in early 1978 a sole reunion concert at there basic venue "Sinkkasten" in Frankfurt. This concert, which had the same playlist as their performance on German Pop Meeting 1974, proved again, that their music never lost its magic. This great performance was taped from the soundboard and has a superb sound quality. As bonus tracks there are two cover versions of great Eric Burdon song "When I was Young" in a 9 minutes psychedelic version and the classic "Tobacco Road" with former bandleader and great singer Ernst Nadler (nickname: Papa Zoot) who left Papa Zoot Band in early 1973. After he dispended his first Band The Beefeaters in 1969, Thorup was helped by some old friends from famous Danish groups Young Flowers, Burning Red Ivanhoe, The Beefeaters, Rainbow Band to record ,Wake Up Your Mind" in February and March 1970. 13 titles were recorded of which 7 found its way on in 1970 on Philips released album ,Wake up Your Mind". The music was not restricted to just Blues-Rock and consequently this release had a much wider appeal as the rest of Peter Thorups efforts. The album reflects the musicians good reputation and it is rather a band project than a solo effort. Fantastic guitar playing by Peter Thorup and Peer Frost (Young Flowers), gorgeous vocals by P.T. and Ole Fick (Burning Red Ivanhoe), excellent organ work by Morten Kjaerumgard and impressive flute and sax playing by Bent Hesselmann (Maxwells, Rainbow Band/Midnight Sun) define this real killer. They are hardly known, as their own LP, recorded in the Robert Meilhaus Studio, didn't get beyond the so-called metal acetate, a pre-state which can be played. In summer 1972, only 10 copies were produced by Meilton; they have never appeared in collector circles. These records could probably be sold for a four-digit amount today. The CD contains the five tracks from the LP plus eight instrumentals from 1970, then soundtrack to the TV series "Sommer in Sizilien" [Summer in Sicily], as well as five demo tracks recorded in the rehearsal room. Limited edition of only 1000 hand numbered copies. The five-piece supergroup The Company Band return with a change in lineup and general approach on their self-titled debut full-length. Brad Davis is new to the band as a replacement for Jason Diamond of New Yorks Puny Human, and he makes his presence felt throughout as a suitable accompaniment to Margeras drumming. The Company Band depart from the impression they gave on the four tracks of their prior EP by keeping the stoner level low, pushing the riff all the same but angling the style of the writing toward classic and southern rock with some meaty grooves thrown in the verses and choruses. Anyone who has found themselves longing for deviance from the ultra-genrefied, nuanced scene in the form of honest to goodness hard rock should take note.

Curiously, sitars surface on only one track, perhaps reduced to ashes before further songs could be composed. Masters for Madrass... were submitted by Bryn Jones to Staalplaat in 1998, while Muslimgauze music was well into the dancehall-reggae-dub-cum-noisy-distortion phase. Those who wish to place the album in the overall context of the discography can do so among the 'ethno-electro' (where traditional music is walked through a hall-of-mirrors of effects, deft panning, then dubbed-out into staggered bits) alongside Silknoose, Uzbekistani Bizzare And Souk, Lo-Fi India Abuse, and Alms for Iraq. Madrass... opens with simmering tablas, the mridangam and santoor for several tracks before the listener is transported to remote dusty villages of North Africa to experience both spirited and serene reed flutes that negotiate through high-voltage electronic rhythms. It is the rhythms that are the most pronounced element of this release as molten, toxic waste bass lines and tectonic strength beats both seep and clamour either like a force of nature or post-apocalyptic fall-out. The non-Indo tracks are familiar as parts were previously released on Dar Es Salaam while one track is straight off the Nommos' Return 10". Jones was not always patient when certain tracks were not released soon enough to his liking and consequently were sent elsewhere without notice. The balance remains dangerously sharp unreleased gems ideal for the dance floor provided a sound system is robust enough to channel the sheer force of Muslimgauze. Despite the near-overwhelming rhythms and bass-ethnic elements along with voices from outskirts of Lahore and Bedouin caravan routes persist like determined insurgents against 'Western occupier' styles. To harness this raw power and beauty, Staalplaat recruited Germany's surpassing audio engineer, Rashad Becker who specially mastered and spanned these tracks over two pieces of virgin vinyl. Track listings on the inner circles are inscribed in Bryn Jones own handwriting no less.
