Please dont ask. I dont know what a Barreracuda is. Maybe a typo? All I know is that this band called BARRERACUDAS is good, so good that you can smell success. These four lowlifes from Atlanta, Georgia, have a solid 7" out on Douchemaster Records already which sounds very Glam / Pub Rock-esque and because of that this band was flying under my radar. BUT the new songs go into the Powerpop / Punkrock direction and of course GENTLEMAN JESSE and EXPLODING HEARTS come to mind while listening / dancing to this but ssssshhhh.... I dont want to start the hype machine. Look out for a hit album in 2010, but meanwhile, buy one or two copies of this single here! From Biel Switzerland, comes this little known group. One of the few all-girl bands (along with Kleenex/Lilliput) to come out of the early 80's Swiss punk scene. Chin Chin definitely considered themselves a punk band. Although their catchy pop vocals and harmonies strongly aligned them with the burgeoning C86 scene. They shared bills with The Shop Assistants, Television Personalities, The Pogues and New Model Army, before the band drifted into obscurity. This 7" was originally released in 1984 on the band's own, Farmer Records. It contains 3 self-penned songs and marks their first and punkest release. Now available as a limited edition heavyweight double vinyl in gatefold sleeve. BEAK> were formed in January 2009 by three Bristol musicians, Billy Fuller, Matt Williams and Geoff Barrow. The band have very strict guidelines governing the recording and writing process of their work. The music was recorded live in one room with no overdubs or repair, only using edits to create arrangements. All tracks were written over a twelve-day session in SOA Studios, Bristol. The album is to be released on Invada records UK and Europe. Sometimes a band can be no more than the sum of its parts, but BEAK> are an equation in which its impossible to define equivalents or totals. Instead the meeting of three talents form a foundation from which ideas assimilate and propagate. Those talents are: Billy Fuller. Reared in Bristol, on an aural diet of anything and everything, facilitated later by his time working in the cities top independent record shop Replay Records, and also playing with handfuls of bands - including Invada's first signing: Fuzz Against Funk, as well as Massive Attack, Robert Plant, and Malakai. Billy is BEAK>s thoughtful pulse; his bass a forceful origin for their superlative narrative arcs. Matt Williams. Picked up a Yamaha keyboard aged three and never looked back, as Team Brick creates dissonance that immediately elucidates free forming thought, and impacts heavily on BEAK>s rolling landscape. ...Huxley". This band emerged from Hamburg and lasted only a few years. It included a mixture of local musicians and two "foreigners". The German musicians were Reinhart Firchow (recorders, flutes, ocarina, stylophone, percussion, vocals), Lucas Lindholm (bass, bass fiddle, organ, piano), Dicky Tarrach (drums, percussion), Herb Geller (flutes, cor anglais, alto/soprano/tenor saxes, organ), the Irishman John O'Brien-Docker (guitars, organ, percussion, vocals, wind chimes) and Esther Daniels (vocals). As you can tell from the name of the band and one album title, their coming together was to make their instrumental interpretation of Aldous Huxley's novel - A Brave New World. Being almost entirely an instrumental band (apart from some occasional voices) they created a most unique sound which combined together successfully different styles such as folk, psychedelic rock and electronics. Their use of wind instruments (woodwinds), peculiar percussion patterns, flute, saxophones and a stylopohone gives their music a special otherworldly sound. A possible sound-alike would be Annexus Quam (in the psychedelic rock approach) and Between (in the ethereal, atmospheric sound). Sadly, after they released Impressions on Reading Aldous Huxley in 1972 and then dissolved. It is commonly referred to as an essential album in any krautrock album collection. A truly little known gem of the Krautrock scene. Originaly released in 1972 by Vertigo. Original gatefold cover and 180gr. vinyl. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

Originally released in 1972 by IRT Machitun in Santiago-Chile. Re-mastered and pressed by MPO France. The album includes a copy of the original insert of the album. "Congregacion was one of the legendary bands from the Chilean musical scene of the early 70s. In spite of not having been a popular band like Los Jaivas, Los Blops and Congreso, they deserve a position of privilege in the history of Chilean rock. The group was from Valparaiso and led by musician and poet Antonio Smith. They wrote lyrics with a significant political, philosophical and religious content, they were a real "celebration of life". Musically, they crafted ballads in an Andean style with ethnic atmospheres, we could say they made a kind of psychedelic folk with progressive leanings. She sometimes sings in tune and sometimes deliciously out of tune, which means it's polished, but just-not-polished enough to count as neo-no-wave death-disco or whatevs. Ergo, in a sun-beaten Los Angeles parking lot where No Age is Nirvana, Hecuba front the college-radio playlist of the steaming tarmac with their version of PJ Harvey swamp-poppy To Bring You My Love or Suzanne Vega's quasi-industrial 99.9F. (Spoiler: Second time around she's rapping like M.I.A. and Yoko Ono. And then namechecks Yoko to drive the point home...) In a flash, Albuquerque is all three Ronettes, harmonizing in a split-second of bliss, just ro-oh-owe-ohlling over a '60s girl-group-style shimmy. Or, more accurately, in the same way Blondie evoked a lo-res, hi-attitude one-woman girl-group on tracks like "(I'm Always Touched) By Your Presence Dear" or "In The Flesh." They wrote 100 songs, disposed of 78 humanely, and have now laid out the remaining dozen on a 3" silver platter for your dirty soul to revel in. Their previous opus was based on a severe lack of musical understanding. Their eponymous debut saw them groping their instruments like over-anxious teenagers, fast, furious and lots of fun. Their second, we reckon, is full of confidence and, somewhat brutally, demands your respect. Love On An Oil Rig triples the distortion, takes the most obscure of harmonies and then refracts them through the prism of pop. Where the first record wore its influences on its sleeve, this one stands alone. The stripped down primal ideas are defined and sharp, retaining their well-developed Art school sensibilities of the absurd, the outrageous and the other. A new drummer and fourth club member has been recruited to enhance the ferocity of their sound, taking the noise to the next level with offset guitars, shouts and wails. The first album dealt with foetal burials, plastic windows and banning gin in 1840. The second features parrots, the primitiveness of modern life and sexual yearning on long distance lorry drives. It's hard not be intrigued by the titles alone: Love on An Oil Rig, Women Versus Children, and Periscope Envy. This is the sound of the purest voices, guitars, basses, drums, circular saws, churches, hands, boots, thoraxes and lungs, juxtaposed to an awkward perfection. The band do not and will not use keyboards, synthesisers or system three acrylic. In the last two years they have performed in three forests, two churches and one circus. They still live in Cardiff. "In a list of the pioneers in the Chilean rock music, it is impossible to omit the name of Los Vidrios Quebrados (The Broken Glasses). They are probably the most important band in in this musical style that entered to Latin America during the early 60s. Their members, Juan Mateo O'Brien (voice and guitar), Hctor Seplveda (guitar and voice), Cristi n Larran (bass guitar) and Juan Enrique Garcs (drums) gave the history of the Chilean rock just one single, Friend/She'll Never Know I'm Blue (1966), and the album Fictions (1967). The Source Family was a religious group of young people centered around the father figure of Father Yod, a WWII flying ace and spiritual searcher. This group of young people also performed improvisational music backing Father Yod under the name Yahowa 13. When Father Yod died in a hang gliding accident in 1975, the group dispersed. In 2007, with the publishing of a book about the Source Family, the original Yahowa 13 reunited for some shows and did some studio recordings. These are the long awaited results, the first studio recordings in over 30 years by Ya Ho Wa 13! Original members Djin, Octavius and Sunflower jam out like the ensuing years never happened. Incredible improv pieces with mind melting guitar and the psychedelic low end throb that all Yod fans will immediately recognize. Literally, the best reunion album of all time! "Nod" is a maddening nearly 15-minute paean to heroin abuse that rambles, leaving the comatose feeling common among hardcore junkies. Inhuman levels of feedback and distortion color the entire album. Describing the production as primitive might be kind -- not that it matters when sludge is on the playlist.
