Famous for appearing in the Andergraun Vibrations Vol. 3 compilation, THE TRUE were a legendary Spanish power trio from the late sixties who were very influenced by early Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. Leaded by guitar-hero Herman de la Torre, they only recorded a very rare EP in 1969 for a tiny label from the Canary Islands. Now impossible to find with original copies changing hands for outrageous sums, here's a cool exact reissue featuring the original artwork and original three tracks. 1973 album by Miguel Abuelo & Nada while he was living in France is, no doubt, one of the best Argentinean rock albums ever recorded, and probably also one of the best out of South America. Miguel, a true legend of Argentinean rock music, recruited some Argentinean musicians who were living in Paris at the time and recorded this wonderful album, but the band never promoted it because they disbanded very quickly. The lp became a collectable item very soon, and this is the first vinyl reissue with the original artwork in its gatefold cover, and the insert with the lyrics. Seven long tracks, stunning blend of psychedelia, folk and hard-rock. A nicely done reissue of such a classic, with tremendous sound quality and limited to 500 copies. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

Alphataurus were one of the many unknown Italian bands who suddenly had a recording deal, made an album and disappeared into oblivion. Their only album, Alphataurus, the first on the newly born Magma label, is a masterpiece, so well crafted and played that it seems impossible that's been made by a group of unknowns. The singer Bavaro has a very original voice, keyboard player Pietro Pellegrini plays with competence and no self-indulgence, guitar-playing of Guido Wasserman is well cared and the rhythm section of Oliva and Santandrea creates a powerful background. The album includes five long compositions of which Peccato d'orgoglio and La mente vola are the best, the latter featuring a nice moog intro and a stunning vibes solo. Melodic, with leading keyboards, classical influences and two long suites (one per side) that can be conventional when speaking of Italian prog, and occasionally experimental too. Unfortunately, the Trident label went bankrupt and the album was never released. It was only in 1992 when it was released, but only on CD format. Now the time has come we make this one available for all vinyl collectors, so you all have the chance to own this little piece of Italian progressive rock history. "Il tempo della semina" is a very nice progressive rock album, not as hard as their debut, with flute, piano, Hammond and the whole lot, as well as moog. Florence band I Califfi included in their first line-up the future Area and Electric Frankenstein guitarist Tofani and Campo di Marte drummer Marcovecchio and were a very popular band in the 60's, before disbanding at the turn of the 70's. They released an album on RiFi and no less than eleven singles. The band was reformed in 1972 by bass player Franco Boldrini, the only member from the original line-up, for a new recording deal with Fonit Cetra, that only produced an LP. Fiore di metallo is a very good prog album, based on organ and moog sounds, with two outstanding instrumental tracks. One of our personal faves, and a megararity, finally reissued on LP. 180 gr. Finally on LP again the legendary New Trolls debut! Released in 1969 it was one of the very first complete LP by a pop band and in the meantime a real concept album, lyrics where written for them by singersongwriter Fabrizio De Andr and the poet Mannerini wrote the lyrics while Giampiero Reverberi (later producer of Le Ormes "Collage", "Uomo di pezza", "Felona e Sorona" and "Contrappunti") arranged the music. Senza oriario, senza bandiera is an excellent album, very successful at the time, strongly tied to the beat sound of the early days. As usual there are the remarkable harmony vocals of the whole band (a trademark that New Trolls had from the very beginning), plus the Jimi Hendrix guitar of Nico di Palo and some interesting guitar parts but not particularly complex compositions. 180 gr. One of the newest and most surprising discoveries in the 60s & 70s rock rarities field, this caused big hype among collectors in the last months. Certainly easy to understand, as its an ace album no one had heard of before. Guitarist William Nowik recorded this obscure instrumental record back in 1974 in the NY area. It has such a deep feeling, nothing anyone could have done without really loving it aside of any commercial view. Psychedelic, progressive, very early Floyd sounding at times, Crimson-esque, and a kind of sound that reminds on the British early 70s underground but with an experimental, trippy touch. 14 tracks in total but played like suites. Seems only 200 copies were pressed and never distributed, so it needed 35 years to be discovered! This wonderful reissue comes with the intended original artwork (it came out in green and black cover instead of the black and white that William wanted), has nice remastered sound and includes an insert with rare unseen photos and extended linernotes. 		60s/70sPSYCH/PROG/FOLK

In 1967, a bunch of US and Argentinean kids recorded a magical album which has remained unknown for many years due to its extreme rarity, with less than a handful known copies to exist. Released in 1968 in Argentina by a label called Phonexa, the Schibbinz album could be regarded as the ultimate teen garage folk-rock album ever. An album of fragile beauty, full of teen charm, innocent vocals, jangly guitars, charming lo-fi sound and lost-in-time atmosphere. It has the look and sound that can only be found on some USA 60s private pressings like Rising Storm or Summer Sounds. But Schibbinz music is something else. So now we're proud to present this wonderful and mega-rare album to the world, in a production counting with the bands involvement and assistance. Master tapes are lost, but the sound has been carefully remastered from an original near mint copy. Here are sealed, mint archive copies of the original album (never been reissued in any format). 300 are found of them so be quick to get a copy at decent price. These have been auctioned from time to time in the internet and going for around $70. All come with the original insert of course. Loner psych-folk from York, PA, private pressing from 1983, certainly having a relatively modern sound, which along with the style on some of the tracks brings quickly to mind the mighty Bob Theil in his "So far..." album, and that's quite a thing!!! Here's what Acid Archives has to say about it: "Incredibly dark loner poet folk/rock. Very heavy Leonard Cohen influence, but makes LC seem cheerful by comparison. Even the one song that is upbeat, almost good-timey, has a dark undertone. Terlazzo is accompanied on many tracks by a beautiful haunting female backing vocal which is often wordless. Several tracks have fine electric guitar leads and solos. The poetic nature of his writing rather stark and often "esoteric" lyric images, brought out well by his rather limited baritone voice. I rate this at the top of the loner folkie heap". "Enjoyable modern-sounding dark folk and singer/songwriter with a vibe similar to Bruce Janaway or Bob Theil. There is indeed a notable Leonard Cohen influence but Terlazzo needn't be embarrassed, as this is simply the genre he belongs too, and he does it well, with a personal voice and inventive arrangements including spooky female harmonies and sparse folkrock arrangements. Watch out for this rarity. You know the Tree People, late 70s predecessors of the ongoing new folk movement in the USA. You know their 1979 debut album and you know its a masterpiece... but oh well, did you know about their second album??? Surely not, especially because it was a cassette only release at the time with a very short print. Luckily enough, the Tree People guys kept the mastertapes of these recordings and were proud to be making this wonderful music available now. After the CD version released last month, heres the vinyl also with splendid sound quality. The music here is equally as good, if not better, than the self-titled debut and a real must for any folk and psych-folk lover. Acoustic guitars, subtile percussions, wonderful flute work and some warm vocals, but overall a real big dose of quality and originality that makes the Tree People music be absolutely ahead of its time and therefore so much admired today. Abbass Mehrpouya was one of Irans top sitarists before passing in 1993. Having released a series of 7" singles that range from psychedelic, pop and even heavy funk, collectors are pushing one another aside in an attempt to obtain his legendary work. While his psychedelic guitars and flutes have collectors drooling at the mouth, his heavy funk moments can be heard rocking dance floors in clubs across the world. This album, his sole lp release "African Jumbo", is both the rarest, and most in demand album from Iran, dated sometime in the mid 70s. The 11+ minute track "African Jumbo" is not only a masterpiece of psychedelic funk, but is also only available on this sole and impossibly hard to find album. A simply wonderful experience full of beautiful sitars and flutes, while heavy drums, horns and percussion help fill out the wonderful melodies. Mehrpouya's talents weren't limited to traditional instruments either. He was known to have invented original instruments from bones and other natural materials, while using pots as a replacement for drums. Truly a magical album from a legendary artist within Iran's musical history, and one that is near impossible to source as an original. Watch out for this rarity. You know the Tree People, late 70s predecessors of the ongoing new folk movement in the USA. Luckily enough, the Tree People guys kept the mastertapes of these recordings and were proud to be making this wonderful music available now. As collectors continue to explore and discover new music from around the world, one country that's starting to gain momentum is Iran. Iran has been a mystery to collectors for many years, and even today it remains a blackbox to most. Within the rubbles of Iran's lost musical history comes Golden Ring, one of the first, and most prodominent Iranian garage groups from the 60's. Based in Tehran, Golden Ring recorded and released a series of songs on 7" during the late 60's and early 70's before disbanding. They were one of the first Iranian bands to be influenced by Western music such as The Beatles, combining traditional Iranian instrumentation and melodies with structures found in UK and North American rock and pop. This combination resulted in an Iranian take on garage music during the genre's climax. One of the members of Golden Ring, Arif, later went on to become a solo artist, and over time became one of the legendary artists within Irans musical landscape. His solo material spread across 45's, soundtracks and generations of fans. Sadly Golden Ring never recorded or released a full length album, but through a lot of hard work and effort we are pleased to offer a full length compilation of Golden Ring's music for you to enjoy. "For this new compilation album, I decided to focus on rockabilly, a music genre that has a rather peculiar status in the history of modern music. As a trend, rockabilly lasted only a few years, but it generated a near-unmatched number of recordings from hundreds of studios from as many American cities and small towns. This phenomenon can be explained partly by youth's sudden urge to express itself in a time when the USA was the richest country in the world and people were drawing maximum benefits from the spirit of entrepreneurship that was taking the whole continent by storm. Back then, you could very easily improvise yourself a record producer or label owner: all it took was a little bit of equipment and a small garage, basement, or backstore space. You started by pressing a hundred-copy run for the artist's family and friends. Sometimes, the product reached the ears of bigger label owners who would ensure its wider distribution. Rockabilly appeared in the early 1950s. This form of musical expression can be summed up as a white, typically southern, and rural kind of rock and roll born in Memphis in 1954. The lyrics are often about recurring themes in '50s American pop culture, like cars and teenage love. Young people identified with rockabilly in large numbers, forming gangs that could terrorize a neighbourhood by facing other gangs. Leather, Brylcreem, and motorcycles big and small were the signs by which they defined themselves. Rockabilly and its close relative rock and roll quickly evolved into other forms of rock, before vanishing almost completely in the late '50s. There was a certain revival in the '70s, and nowadays a surprising number of young bands have picked up the torch and are keeping this important style alive, a style that brings joy and the urge to dance to a still-sizeable audience. "Essential Instrumentals". The first half of the '60s was a perfect test ground for whoever wanted to make a record for a fistful of dollars. The 45 rpm was the king of the place and among the other genres of the day, instrumentals occupied a sizeable chunk of the production. The best-known instrumentals came from California in the late '50s, thanks to the surfers who quickly adopted this new guitar sound from Texas. Another compilation album in this series will be devoted to some of those artists. Simultaneously, all over the United States bands started recording lots of diverse and surprising instrumental tracks. They did so for various reasons: lack of a good singer, filler for a B side, a shot at the charts with a different, jukebox-ready mix of an already released song. This Heavy Jelly collection focuses on tunes mainly dominated by a sax and organ, and always backed by a strong rhythm section. These tracks were shamelessly designed to fill up the dance floor. The mark of a good instrumental was often a gimmick, i.e. that little something - a riff, an intro, a repetitive chord - that would act as the piece's signature item. Formed early 1967, the group united the brightest talents from two of the areas most popular garage bands, the Bush and the Northside Moss. By the end of the summer they had evolved into an incendiary West Coast psychedelic rock ensemble comparable to the Buffalo Springfield or Moby Grape, but with the dual lead guitar firepower of the Beck-Page Yardbirds. It's slow, but not too slow. Sludgy, but not too sludgy. So, yeah. it basically rules. The sheer fury and mass of some of the rhythms actually reminds me of the mighty Crowbar to some degree, but with more of a doomy sort of 'contemporary Sabbath' thing going on. Hell, they close with a cover of Uriah Heep's 'Rainbow Demon', so that sort of gives you an idea of where some of their influences are coming from, but. rest assured the end result's definitely 1,000 times more crushing! Acid Witch plays a very trippy, psychedelic and unsurprisingly horror influenced form of doom metal. Yet it's delivered with such unabashed childishness and goofiness, a possible result of what the Scoody Doo cartoon theme would sound like if Electric Wizard had penned it. You'll find elements of Cathedral here, some Witchfinder General there, and some slight nods to Pentagram. Add to that some of Electric Wizard's ultra bassy, fuzzy, and distorted guitar tone and booming production values. Like other traditional doom metal albums, the riffs and rhythm patterns move in a lumbering and lurching fashion yet somehow the Witchsters inject some nice doses of sensual grooves that recall 70's Deep Purple. During various listening sessions I felt like I was inside Satan's smoke filled strip club watching strippers complete with horns and cloven hooves gyrating their lovely tail clad asses for the merriment of us sinners and then suddenly I somehow realized that perhaps hell isn't really a bad place after all. Death In June - Lesson One: Misanthropy - CD/DVD - 15 This compilation of Death In June material from 1981-84 was previously only available on vinyl lp released in 1986 and is now reissued for the first time on cd. Its purpose is to tidy history and features tracks from the very beginning to the very end of the original line-up's recordings. The cd will come in a grey/black ultra-voated debossed 'repak' of completely recycled paper and will also include the very rare version of 'Black Radio' known as 'Some Of Our Best Friends Live In South America' previously issued on the 'New Horizons' cassette-only compilation released in 1983, plus a recently discovered unissued longer version of 'Sons Of Europe' taken from the 'Burial' album sessions. The first 2000 copies of this limited edition not only include an exclusive embroidered patch (the III 6 logo in grey/black) but also features a DVD, available in both PAL and NTSC formats, of the 'Reunion' performance of the 3 original Death In June members Patrick Leagas, Tony Wakeford and Douglas P. which took place as an encore to the Death In June performance at The Underworld in London on 6.XI.98. This was the first time (and will be the only time) the original trio had played together in 14 years and the historical moment was beautifully captured on video that night by Boyd Rice. You may have never heard of Cliff Wagner, but listening to the two tracks on this obscure single will quickly earn this American artist a top ranking place in your playlists. Released at the dawn of the 70s on Egg, the excellent French pop/progressive label, both songs evolve within an excellent soul and rock register, tinted with wonderful shades of psychedelia. If the poignant "Her name was Sue" plays the sober and reverent card, the sublime "Red Spot" blatantly brims over with energy with surprising flexibility. Right from the bass/drum break intro which holds its ground effortlessly against the sonic attacks of a dazzling fuzz guitar, shivers of pleasure arise, and feet begin to mechanically tap out the rhythm. And then a radiant Hammond organ comes in, followed by a mischievous wah-wah guitar and a discrete, but altogether essential bell. This magical orchestration, product of Herv Roys expertise as crafty arranger, disruptive with the work of the producer, offers Wagners gravely voice a sparkling box of soul. If the film "Vivre la Nuit" by Marcel Camus remains locked in historic limbo, the fact remains that its sumptuous original soundtrack remains on the wanted list of a flurry of collectors, desperately hoping to get their hands on a copy one day. The perfect example of a sixties score, doped with rhythmnblues and mod-ern sounds, this record is a little gem, perfectly coherent and with a perfect goal. Under the unbridled musical direction of a Claude Bolling at the height of his pop phase parade dazzling manifestations of soul ("Heart and Soul"), a handful of amphetamine drugged jerks (the unforgettable "Make Love Number One" and the incredible "Get that Feelin interpreted by Gerry Beckles), elegant jazzy instrumentals, and the opulent baroque ballad "Voici le Jour" haunted by Danielle Licaris diaphanous voice which leads the record to a magnificent end. We come away from listening to this record as after a sleepless night partying: tired but happy, eyes shining, with bass lines, guitars and organs ringing in our ears. From flashes of pop, heady waltzes and Bach style bop minuets, to hallucinogenic experiments and Morriconien western themes, each seems to have its place in this sumptuous kaleidoscope. To top it all, the celestial tones of the great Edda DellOrso have never had a more fitting home. Oscillating between the perverse, the sensual and the nostalgic, shes in perfect harmony with Ciprianis wise structures, each on a par with the most dazzling of Morricone or Piccionis works. It was 1972 when Ronald Ventura de Mesquita recorded the fabulous "Bresil 72" for Barclay, which would go on to become a collectable, sought out by rare groove fetishists the world over. "Bresil 72" is distinctly "samba soul." Beginning with he opener "Balana Peme", a theme borrowed f rom Jorge Ben. "Dabadeia", the second theme is rich with pop bossa flavours. Side One of the LP is signed by a trio of names: Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento and Gilberto Gil, three of Rios major forces. The first with the classic "Aguas de maro". The second in a potpourri "Tema de Tostao." And third and finally, "Fechado Pra Balano" which takes on a distinctly groovy feel, two years on from being created by Gil. Side Two carries on where Side One left off. From the first notes of "O Gato," to Gonzaguinha, its samba soul on the musical agenda. Like on the cover of "Tarde Em Itapoa" from the Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes duo, with offbeat electric piano notes and dotted percussion, on "Casa no Campo", which flies the flag for Popular Brazilian Music in the voice of Elis Regina, or in the samba "Quatro de Dezembro." Whats to be said about "Papagaio", a short farce with the rhythm section taking the lead role?!? This turnery allows the vocalists to launch into a crescendo of a final, in Edu Lobos famous "Zanzibar", practically scat-style in its arrangements. Released in 1971, under the blanket of library music anonymity, "Jungle Obsession" is one of those rare and precious records whose extraordinary personality is instantly recognised by the ear of the listener. Timeless.luminous. Its high time one of the greatest instrumental records of the 70s was rediscovered. A demanding effort, unfaltering coherent, bordering somewhere along solar exoticism and primitive psychedelics and entirely focused upon the beauty and mysteries of Kiplings Jungle Book in its hunt for a fascinating artistic El Dorado. Leading this musical expedition, we find two of library musicsgreats, the amazing Roger Roger (1911-1995) and Nino Nardini (1912-1994). These outstanding conductors, with already substantial careers behind them, also take the role of mad scientists in the legendary Ganaro Studio, the marvellous Jouy-en- Josas-based lab at the heart of which the two magicians have attempted some of the most wonderful musical experiences ever carried out in France. Going beyond dominant current music styles, they blend genres and dare unprecedented mixes with obvious success. "Jungle Obsession" is the undeniable proof, vibrating willingly to an audacious and minimal orchestration that highlights percussion, whilst a forest of luxurious chords wreathe through savage guitars assaults and an electronic sounding backdrop. Intoxicated by these subtle melodies, these feline rhythms and flagrant poetry, all that is left for us to do is to succumb to losing ourselves definitively in the heart of this savage, fantasy land which gives its most wonderful patents to this spicy and bewitching branch we call exotica. Laura Villas warm and enveloping voice. Born Emilie Laura Facetti in Italy, she would discover Bossa Novas captivating melodies when in Lisbon at the end of the 50s. At the time, the Portuguese capital was the European port entry for newly arrived Brazilians. With her pianist husband Alex Biancheri, she was under Bossas spell on her return to Paris, and decided to spread the good Brazilian word. Signing to Polydor gave her the means to form a full-scale orchestra (partly made up of Brazilian musicians) and to record in 1962 this classics-filled album also comprising original material. A shining declaration of love for Brazilian rhythms, a veritable manifesto of proud and uninhibited European Bossa, this timeless masterpiece brimming with bright and generous songs lit up the way to Brazils infinite softness at the dawn of the 60s. "Dr. Boogie Presents Shim Sham Shimmy". Third volume of Sub Rosa's Fundamental collection devoted to rare and lost recordings from '20 to '60's. Put a nickel in the juke and boogie 'till you puke! Is it really possible to imagine what modern music would sound like if a few pioneering geniuses had not had the idea of electrifying their instruments, especially guitar and harmonica, between 1945 and 1950? Some purist will regret this evolution, but, in the '50s, the new sound will be heard in all the studios and night clubs of the United States; it will become a staple on the radio, in stores, at weddings, and private parties. It will radically transform the music scene and allow hundreds of artists to express themselves, create, hope, and innovate. This collection pays tribute to 18 artists, some of which later became known, like Albert Collins, Jack Dupree, Homesick James, Sam Myers, Dr. Ross, and Joe Hill Louis. However, the real treat is having an opportunity to hear fabulous unknowns who all, one day, had the chance to be recorded, either in a studio, on the street, or on a back porch, before going back to anonymity shortly after. Almost all of the artists presented here hailed from the south of the USA. Some of them stayed there their whole life, other emigrated toward the north, moving up the Mississippi, or toward the west to settle in California.
