KROKODIL - KROKODIL
REPRESSED! During the early 70's this Swiss KROKODIL was one of the most exciting imports in the German rock scene. Its debut album which was released in 1969, contained blues-inspired rock with many progressive touches. No wonder that KROKODIL was often regarded as a Swiss version of the GROUNDHOGS. This album is mega-rare now and hasn't been re-released on vinyl before. Finally here's now an exact Vinyl release of this fantastic LP in a limted edition of 1.000 copies. Coming with the original glossy foldopencover and pressed on 180 gm virgin vinyl . |

MIRIODOR - LIVE 89
This release commemorates 25 years of existence for the group, as well as the 20th anniversary of these concerts. In 1989 Miriodor was a trio of musicians, keyboardist Pascal Globensky, drummer Rmi Leclerc and saxophonist Sabin Hudon. The emergence of MIDI as a viable technology allowed the group to add more orchestral flavors to their complex instrumental compositions, and they were functioning at a high level as a touring unit, having played FIMAV in 1988 and performing in France and Belgium in 1989 before returning home to play additional concerts in Quebec. The material on Live 89, 12 tracks in all totaling over 50 minutes of music, covers their self-titled release and early versions of material that would end up being on the third album, "3rd Warning". In addition there are five pieces that have never appeared on another album and display the high degree of quality we have come to expect from this group. These pieces are taken from concerts in France, Montreal, and Quebec City. One of Quebec's most unique groups, straddling the border between rehearsal-intensive progressive rock and the free exploration of musique actuelle, this live document is an important part of their history. |

PEOPLE - CEREMONY-BUDDHA MEETS ROCK (WALLET)
Nobody's sure if the musicians on this recording ever performed as a group or whether Ceremony was simply a studio super project. Certainly guitarist Kimio Mizutani had already enjoyed a certain amount of crticial exposure following stints with Love Live Life + One and Masahiko Satoh's Sound Breakers and it is Satoh's jazzy fuzz guitar licks that help to lift this album to a higher level. Unfortunately this was the ensembles only album, but the concept work, Ceremony - Buddha Meets Rock, is an absolute classic. As the title suggests, this 1971 recording was an attempt to fuse Buddhist-influenced spiritual vibe into an innovative oriental form form of hypnotic psychedelic prog rock. All in all a rather weird record but the sound is mindblowing - experimental and trippy, but never too free or over the top, and at times a more traditional Japanese style of music lurks in the background. A monumental album thats never going to go out of style. |

VARIOUS - PSYCHEDELIC SUPER PJOTR
Was the Iron Curtain in place to keep out Western forces, or was it to keep groovy music like this in? Secret underground grooves that explode with the power of a thousand ICBMs! This is a rollicking tour through the old Eastern Bloc; groups hailing from Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and the former Czechoslovakia hell bent on proving that, despite their incarceration, they had perfected the decidedly British and American sound that makes up this rare and unique mix of psych/rock. The album slows down only twice; two ballads, both released in the former Czechoslovakia, are sung in English. Both are beautiful. For the rest, theres heavy bass lines, consonant clusters, occasional horn support and searing fuzz guitar punctuation. From an early Illes (Hungary) with added crowd noises and a Mersey-esque take on R&B, to a later Illes with flute and closely-miked slide guitar and wall of strings, this collection rocks. Unavailable for years on LP and never on CD, public demand has prompted Past & Present to give this soundtrack/compilation the release it deserves. As with all our titles, extra value is provided with detailed notes on each band in the accompanying booklet. Track Listing 1. Polanie - I Dont Know Myself 2. Polanie - We Know Each Other Long 3. Crickets - Song of the Crickets 4. Silver Bracelets - Zarezan 5. Niebiesko Czarni - Tongue Twister 6. Czerwonie Gitary - No One Knows 7. The Gentlemen - No Chance 8. Les Mistigris - Summer Nights 9. BIRD BY SNOW - SONGBREAD/ANOTHER OCEAN
Now also on CD. Here we find Bird By Snow harvesting perspectives in an old-growth forest of ontology & swimming joyfully in wide-wonder-waters of multi-instrumentalism. Cellos, drones, pianos, field-recordings, tape-collage & all manner of drumming, strumming & singing confer and conspire to create Bird By Snow's 3rd album, their most fertile record yet...Ten free-pop-mantras, ancient-babies of modern song. "Bird By Snow walks the tightrope between several worlds; the natural and the manmade constructs, the eternal and the temporal, the spirit and the flesh. His songs spilling out like wood smoke hanging low over a cool morning meadow. Weather, wind, fire, water and air, acoustic instruments and nuanced amplification illuminating the inter-connections. Exploring personal and universal identities with an understated, yet sometimes quite grand grace and organically natural ease, almost like these songs sound like they just happened rather than being crafted and created. This beautiful ten song set is a perfect compliment to his first two albums, and continues and expands upon his northwestern vision quest." -George Parsons, (editor) Dream Magazine. |

SEX BEET - SHE DON'T SURF
Sex Beet hail from Leicester, England; their Fistful-debut 45 is called "She Don't Surf," and, believe it or not, it was recorded by two masked men in an asbestos filled warehouse in Birmingham. The single/EP comes after only ten months of existence for Sex Beet, originally formed just for "something to do." Since agreeing to unleash their take of garage-surf-punk onto the unsuspecting public, the band have since shared stages with a bunch of their influences and friends- including Black Lips, The Hipshakes, King Khan & The Shrines and Demon's Claws- all over England, France and bloody Belgium. Everything is kept nice and simple- one guitar, one organ, one drum kit - and three drunk young men shouting about girls with nice hair. What's not to like? Several more releases, gigs with thee mighty Vicars and more European tours are on the way, so watch out! |

CREEPY CREEPS - FINK ABOUT IT
The Creepy Creeps play an intoxicating concoction of surf mayhem and garage madness. The ingredients include the washed out drunken guitar of the Creepture with the frothing sounds of Dr Creepensteins coffin shaped keys, Creepulas thunderous drums, and the heart pounding bass of Dia De Los Creep. The drunker you get the better they sound and inebriation is all you can do to keep your bones from dancing right out of your skin. The Creepy Creeps home base is in San Diego and they have been playing the local surf and garage circuit for a number of years now, self releasing their efforts. "Fink About It," The Creepy Creeps first full-length LP for Dionysus Records, is a supercharged masterpiece. You will wear the album out in a matter of days and have to buy it again! GOLDEN RING - GOLDEN RING
As collectors continue to explore and discover new music from around the world, one country that's starting to gain momentum is Iran. Iran has been a mystery to collectors for many years, and even today it remains a blackbox to most. Within the rubbles of Iran's lost musical history comes Golden Ring, one of the first, and most prodominent Iranian garage groups from the 60's. Based in Tehran, Golden Ring recorded and released a series of songs on 7" during the late 60's and early 70's before disbanding. They were one of the first Iranian bands to be influenced by Western music such as The Beatles, combining traditional Iranian instrumentation and melodies with structures found in UK and North American rock and pop. This combination resulted in an Iranian take on garage music during the genre's climax. One of the members of Golden Ring, Arif, later went on to become a solo artist, and over time became one of the legendary artists within Irans musical landscape. His solo material spread across 45's, soundtracks and generations of fans. Sadly Golden Ring never recorded or released a full length album, but through a lot of hard work and effort we are pleased to offer a full length compilation of Golden Ring's music for you to enjoy. Limited to 500 copies. |

VARIOUS - HEAVY JELLY
"Essential Instrumentals". The first half of the '60s was a perfect test ground for whoever wanted to make a record for a fistful of dollars. The 45 rpm was the king of the place and among the other genres of the day, instrumentals occupied a sizeable chunk of the production. The best-known instrumentals came from California in the late '50s, thanks to the surfers who quickly adopted this new guitar sound from Texas. Another compilation album in this series will be devoted to some of those artists. Simultaneously, all over the United States bands started recording lots of diverse and surprising instrumental tracks. They did so for various reasons: lack of a good singer, filler for a B side, a shot at the charts with a different, jukebox-ready mix of an already released song. This Heavy Jelly collection focuses on tunes mainly dominated by a sax and organ, and always backed by a strong rhythm section. These tracks were shamelessly designed to fill up the dance floor. The mark of a good instrumental was often a gimmick, i.e. that little something - a riff, an intro, a repetitive chord - that would act as the piece's signature item. This compilation has been culled from the original 45s. -Dr. Boogie. Tracks: Side A: 01 Steve Rowland - Out Ridin' 02 The Parkays - Get It 03 Mark III Trio - Good Grease 04 The Roller Coasters - Rimshot Part 2 05 Hoochie & The Coochie Coos - Skee-mo 06 Baby Earl & The Trinidads - Backslop 07 Roosevelt Fountain - Red Pepper part 2 08 Rudy & The Reno Bop's - Rudy's Monkey, Side B: 09 The Gone All Stars - 7-11 10 David Rockingham Trio - Bee Dee 11 Les Drivers - Good Gully 12 Big Jay McNeely - Big Jay Shuffle 13 Wild Bill Davis - Blues For Barbara 14 Gene The Hat - Hush Puppy 15 The Red Tops - Mustard 16 Ken Kash Kwintet - Vicious Vodka. |

LEMON DROPS - SUNSHOWER FLOWER POWER (2CD)
The Lemon Drops were pioneers of a psychedelic flower-power sound in and around the Chicago suburbs in 1967. The mastermind behind their music was Rembrandt Records' owner Reggie Weiss. The first song he wrote for the Lemon Drops was inspired by the effects of a LSD trip and titled 'I Live In The Springtime'. Long recognized as a classic example of psychedelic folk-rock, and has appeared on the Rhino Nuggets Box Set, Pebbles vol. 8, and many other comps. In addition to the shimmering splendor of 'I Live In The Springtime', The Lemon Drops left behind a great legacy of music during their brief two-year tenure. Included on the 2CD set are many previously unreleased recordings (including two different versions of "I Live In The Springtime') and a 12 page booklet with extensive liner notes and band memorabilia. |

WICKED KING WICKER - GOD IS BUSY...SAVE YOURSELF
Wicked King Wicker is pure doom. Their brand of guttural expression strips away the rock'n'roll base and leaves nothing for the listener than the caustic reality of the darkest side of life. It is heavy, barbaric and void of hope. Wicked King Wicker has taken the power of doom metal and added noise to mix to make its point - a point that has been celebrated by loyal listeners around the world, as well as in the mainstream music press like Terrorizer magazine, which gave the bands first two albums 8.5 ratings. While their style is not for everyone, the number of people being turned on by their nihilism is growing fast. "God Is Busy...Save Yourself" is their 6th album, and their first released outside of the U.S. There are lots of labels that can apply to their music, and other bands with a similar approach to theirs, but the bottom line is Wicked King Wicker is unique, and their extreme doom stands alone as the heaviest, most brutal doom imaginable and it may take you places you don't want to go. |

Anarchist Republic of Bzzz is the exceptional and ephemeral reunion of two cult guitarists (Marc Ribot & Arto Lindsay) and two inspired and engaged rappers (Sensational & Mike Ladd), with Seb el Zin at the helm. The group displays a level of urgency too rare nowadays. These five musicians break free from all the music rules and transcend all styles. This isn't free jazz per se, nor free improvisation or dub or hip-hop - actually, the Anarchist Republic of Bzzz's sonic manifesto is simultaneously all that. DOWNSBROUGH, PETER - AND THAT
The work of visual artist, photographer and film artist Peter Downsbrough has had a major impact on the perception of art. In the early sixties Downsbrough interrupted his studies in architecture at the University of Cincinnati and Cooper Union in New York in order to work as a sculptor. A decade after his first exhibition in New York (1962) the artist gained international recognition, and has been exhibiting regularly in the United States and Europe since 1972. The varied work of the artist-ranging from sculpture and books to photography, video, and film-maintains a complex relationship with architecture and typography, while also drawing on the achievements of the early avant-garde (Bauhaus, De Stijl) and Minimal Art. In terms of form, the work of Downsbrough is highly rigorous and exhibits a powerful geometric sense, restricting itself primarily to the use of line, plane, negative space (cutting away), and delimitation. In addition to his spatial manipulations, the artist also has a keen interest in place, as is evidenced in his cartographical works and city photographs. This last work (only available on vinyl) is a collaboration with two musicians of the Buffle collective (Brussels). |

CAGES - FOLDING SPACE
There is nothing fun or pedestrian about dreams that are uncompromising to the point of reality. The shaking notes that make up "Folding Space" were recorded by two people holed up in their whole respective imaginations of visions of loops, layers and pleading lyrics. It is stubborn but not ugly, nearly one hour of music set in studios buried by blizzards of the American Great Lakes region. Cages is Nola Ranallo and David Bailey. They practiced, moved apart, relayed tapes through the mail, revised the entire damned thing, and then rejoined to capture every last seizure on this record. They sought sounds from the same dreams that give fools belief and colorfully punctuate the nights of the sanest. It's sometimes pretty ("Lost Lipids") or crushing ("Psalm to Mother"; "If It Flies, It Dies") or left hanged in the speakers ("Dying"). There are elements of dreamy ether and discomfort rather than the easy choruses and catchphrases of the most collected and consumed art form. And, then, youll find a song radiating another thing entirely. (sweetness? The Devils hand?). Live, the duo transfers their forged and found music into a very personal presentation that soars above the casually talking show-goers, the poor man's jazz bands, and the art house showboats. Patrons and fellow musicians are pulled in; sounds are pushed out but never apart. "Folding Space" is a foot to the honest and hard road, which can quickly cut away the uncurious and reward the rest like the tapes listened to repeatedly in the fevers of your youth. Please mull and judge, and add to the tops or bottoms of the lists you think necessary. And know the visions backing this elaborate music were recorded and are performed for a primary reason: to exist freely. -Justin Kern (Sept. 24, 2009 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A.). Volume One (The Vodoun Effect - Funk & Sato from Benins Obscure Labels, 1973 - 1975), released by Analog Africa at the end of 2008, was a collection of amazing lo-fi recordings produced for various labels around Benin. Volume Two showcases superbly recorded tracks, courtesy of the EMI studios in Lagos, Nigeria, one of the best studios in the region. All tracks here were recorded for the mighty Albarika Store label and its enigmatic producer, Adissa Seidou. The idea for this compilation was born five years ago when Samy Ben Redjeb, Analog Africa's founder and compiler, first heard the addictive funk track "Malin Kpon O" (included here), which was originally released in 1975 on Albarika Store. That discovery triggered the compiler's curiosity and what followed was a long journey through the musical history of Benin and the history of its most important ambassador, Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou who started as a children entertainment group and went on to become one of the greatest bands of their era. The four year journey involved criss-crossing Benin, Togo and Niger trying to get hold of the bands recording output which were found in record stocks and had laid untouched for a quarter of a century, reviewing reels and master tapes at the headquarters of Albarika Store, conducting interviews with all the living members of the band, searching for pictures of the Orchestre and licensing the music from the composers and producer. The result: approximately 100 pictures, 120 master tapes, 20 hours of interviews and a few hundred Orchestre Poly-Rythmo vinyl records - 500 songs in total - some of which previously unreleased. Almost half of those tracks were recorded for Benin's number one label - Albarika Store. Fifteen out of 200 tracks were carefully selected for this compilation which comes with a massive 44-page booklet filled with amazing pictures of the band, a complete discography and a biography tracing the band from its foundation as Groupe Meloclem in 1964 via Sunny Blacks band (1965), Orchestre Poly-Disco (1966), El Ritmo (1967) and finally Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou in 1968. During the period presented here -1969 to 1979- the mighty Orchestre was without any doubt one of Africa's most innovative groups. Capable of playing any style of music, the band moved from traditional Vodoun rhythms to Funk, Salsa or Afro-beat seamlessly and quickly became the powerhouse of Benin's music scene, backing most of Africa's stars touring the country, such Manu Dibango, Ernesto Djedje, Bella Bellow, as well as supporting an array of local composers, such as Honore Avolonto, Antoine Dougbé and Danialou Sagbohan. Given the size of the tiny country one could think that Poly-Rythmo must have been too big a fish for such a small pond, but the more one understands Benin's culture and traditions the more it appears that a phenomenon such as Orchestre Poly-Rythmo couldn't have happened anywhere else. Some of the planet's most exciting rhythms are related to the complex Vodoun religion born in Benin. Those rhythms, supported by chants and dances, have been transmitted from generation to generation and are still being performed to this date, a few hundred years after they were created. The composers and arrangers of Orchestre Poly-Rythmo understood that they were surrounded by a gold mine of inspirational sounds which, if modernised and mixed in with whatever was in fashion at that particular moment, could have a strong impact on the urban population. Those astonishing combinations can be heard here: Afro-Beat, Sato, Funk, Sakpata, Psychedelia and Latin sounds all mixed into a heavy hypnotic sound - Les Echos Hypnotiques. |
