Grateful Dead

In Toronto, O'keefe Centre 1967

The two giants of psychedelic music; The Airplane and the Dead reaped maximum exposure in the press and on radio and TV during their Canadian visit. Their free performance at Toronto City Hall Square a week prior to their O'Keefe concerts (July 31-5 August) would draw crowds estimated at from 10,000 to 40,000, figures exceeded only by the wordage covering the event in the three daily papers. Still without a hit single, but with a hot-selling debut album after two years on the road, the Dead would eventually become synonymous with the hippie spirituality for decades to come thanks to performances such as this which catches the band in that early, experimental phase with the joyful improvisation that would soon become their trademark. Timeline revisits this classic, historic performance from what possibly still is, the most truly psychedelic band in the world. Presenting a fully restored and professionally remastered original CBC-FM broadcast with background notes and timeline photos. TRACKS: 1. New Potato Caboose 2. Viola Lee Blues 3. Turn On Your Lovelight 4. Alligator
