A fabulous compilation from the A Craze songwriting team of Lucy Loquette and Chris Free. "Their sound sits perfectly with Weekend, The Style Council, Carmel, Everything But The Girl. They were Saint Etienne 7 or 8 years too soon." Your Heart Out - Magazine 2009 / Including for the first time on CD the gorgeous acoustic soul of "Wearing Your Jumper" with The Style Councils Mick Talbot on wurlitzer and Steve White on percussion, produced by Paul Weller. A CRAZE were signed to Respond Records - Paul Wellers label of the early 1980s. Sounding even better and fresher today. The recordings feature many of the honorary council players. Upbeat, they're driving, surging, a blast of optimism and euphoria. Downbeat, they're mellow, a unique shade of blue, waiting on that summer breeze... Chris Free had previously written / played sonic guitar for one of the UKs first punk bands The Users. The Users to this day still have a worldwide cult following. Lucy Loquette had done previous as a backing vocalist for Cambridge revue band The Hearthrobes. Together they wrote the 1983 UK top 30 summer soul hit Give It Some Emotion for Tracie Young. The recordings presented on the "Such Bliss 83-84" CD have been personally selected by Lucy and Chris from the 1983/84 period as best representing their sound and influences - Pop / Motown / Acoustic / Soul / Dub / Calypso. It also includes two new songs July Ran Away With The Moon and Shooting Star recorded while mastering this CD (It was the 1st time Lucy and Chris had been in the same room / studio for 18 years !!!).

Now at a better price. A fine cd by neo-neo-mods The Sound Of Pop Art, who are influenced by The Who, Kinks and The Jam. Tony Jenkins sings of shopping centres and high street girls in a flurry of optimism, while 'Visions Of You' and 'Let's Make Love in London' add a dash ... read more »
