"We love CLUTCHY HOPKINS. His creepily sparse and bass-lite
remixes of MF Doom cuts and various instrumentals of his own accord keep us going when the work overflows and we want to reach out and pat the young man on his back. Problem is, we have no idea who Clutchy Hopkins is. MySpace pages and various biographies claim that he's multi-instrumentalist who trained under the Rinzai Zen monks in Japan, mastered percussion in Lagos and staged rebel missions to fight Apartheid. He's depicted as an ageless beach bum and his music certainly contains an ear for abstract subtlety and hit-you-over-the-head beauty, but we really have no clue as to who-or what-the dude is...Madlib? Cut Chemist? MF Doom, himself? We're not sure, but if the jams stay this good, we couldn't care less."
