CRAZY TEMPLE - CRAZY TEMPLE
After a hiatus of almost 4 years Berlin-based label Avec Plaisir Records is finally back with their second outing: a stunning collection of six almost forgotten progressive rock oddities by the Austrian Band Crazy Temple. Being mostly active in the late '70s, the bunch of youngsters around the songwriting duo Günter Schiller and Herbert Bachinger only released one cassette 'Heavy Birth' as well as the sought-after 7-inch record 'Homecomer' in 1980 shortly before the band was scattered to the four winds. Their productions were recorded in the myth-enshrouded Ebensee Studio, were two members of the band were on the payroll. Despite their fairly young age Crazy Temple established a very unique and authentic sound, carried by breezy synthesizers, meandering guitar-solos and the mature voice of Günter Schiller that seems heavily influenced by the favorite bands of their time. Being able to maintain a room in "Schloss Ebenzweier" where already Franz Schubert was composing might have helped equally as the herbs the teens were smoking during countless hours of rehearsal. The completion of the first long-player by Crazy Temple was originally planned for early 1981 - 43 years later the plan is put into action with the help of Avec Plaisir founders Sandra & Hendrik Stein. The record comes with six fully remastered original tracks recorded in 1980 complemented by three different takes on 'Ev'rything's Alright' and 'Homecomer' by label-wright Sandra's Alias Frinda di Lanco. The reproduction of Oto Atman's etching 'Die Träumerin Von Eden' as cover artwork adds zest to the authentic look of this release.

Recorded on the 1978 tour promoting his 'Cats Under The Stars' album, presented here is The Jerry Garcia Band live at The Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. The early show from this evening was simulcast live on WNEW in New York City and has long been a staple of Garcia collections. This particular JGB lineup included both Donna Jean Godchaux and Maria Muldaur on support vocals. This recording is also remarkable for John Kahn being so prominent in the mix, which gives listeners a fine opportunity to hear the telepathic musical relationship he established with Garcia during the years.

Mountain was the legendary American rock band led by Leslie West. The band was formed in 1969 and played one of its early dates at the equally legendary Woodstock Festival in August 1969. In September 1969 Corky Laing joined Mountain replacing original drummer Norman Smart. Florida death metal featuring James Murphy (Death, Testament, Obituary). After James had left Death (he recorded 'Spiritual Healing' in 1990), Obituary (recorded 'Cause Of Death' in late 1990 with them) and Cancer (with whom he recorded 'Dead Shall Rise' in 1991) he started his own death metal band: Disincarnate. This demo led to a deal with Roadrunner Records and Disincarnate released their well-received debut album 'Dreams Of The Carrion Kind' in 1993. Murphy went on playing for Testament 1993-1996, 1998-2000 and has his own recording Studio in Florida.

EXPULSION - A BITTER TWIST OF FATE
Expulsion was formed in November 1988 by Calle Fransson on drums, Anders Holmberg on bass and Stefan Lagergren on guitars. April 1989, Expulsion released their first demo called 'Cerebral Cessation.' November that year they recorded their second demo 'Veiled In The Mists Of Mystery.' In 1990 Expulsion entered the Sunlight Studios (Entombed, Dismember, Tiamat etc.), to record two tracks produced by Tomas Skogsberg. After these recordings Expulsion split up due to military services of the band members and reformed with 2 new members 2 years later. Their first new release was the 'A Bitter Twist of Fate' 3 track mini-CD. This self-released mini-CD is now a much sought after album and is for sale on eBay and discogs for 250 to 400 euros. Now finally reissued, including one special bonus track 'Let The Ravens Fly' (taken from the 'History Of Things To Come' comp CD from 1994). The booklet contains liner notes, rare pictures and has the original artwork restored.

Scarab is a heavy metal band from Birmingham, England, that was founded in 1981. The band was part of the NWOBHM movement. Among collectors, Scarab's one and only 7" single 'Poltergeist' (released on Pharaoh Records in 1984) is a highly-regarded item. However, there is a bit of confusion all around as there was another band called Scarab (also stemming from the Midlands region), who released the 'Rock Night' 7" single in 1981. But there was definitely no relation between the two groups.

Germany indeed was the cradle for many, many of the best thrash metal bands in the world. Tankard are definitely among one of them. They have something in particular which is sorely missed in metal bands today: sense of humour. Genuine, sharp sense of humour. They do metal for fun, for nothing else, their songs dealing with drunken nights and mayhem, together with zombies and aliens coming for you, giving a hilarous spin to the monstrosity cult in metal. Musically speaking, they are solid thrash, with heavy influences from punk and heavy metal.

Reissued on vinyl, this digitally remastered version of the 1974 release presents 'Rock N Roll Animal,' a live album by Lou Reed under RCA Records. Originally comprising five tracks, with four drawn from Velvet Underground's repertoire, the album showcases the talents of Pentti Glan on drums, Prakash John on bass, Ray Colcord on keyboards, and Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter on guitars. Wagner and Hunter would later coalesce to form the core of the second Alice Cooper band, debuting on 'Welcome To My Nightmare,' which also features Glan and John. Recorded live on December 21, 1973, at Howard Stein's Academy of Music in New York City, this album quietly gained momentum, eventually reaching #45 on the Billboard album chart and securing Reed's first RIAA gold certification in 1978 after a remarkable twenty-eight weeks on the charts.

MKB Fraction Provisoire (Messageros Killers Boy(s)) is the variable-geometry musical project of filmmaker and writer F.J. Ossang, founded in 1980 to feed a need for creativity fueled by the punk movement and the industrial scene. The band's music is characterized by a blend of punk rock, blues, and avant-garde influences, with Ossang's poetic lyrics often addressing themes of alienation, decadence, and despair. After a self-released EP in 1981, 'Provenance France,' MKB released their first LP, 'Terminal Toxique,' the following year. Over the years, the group went on to release a dozen albums, including several for the Bondage label. Its musical output is inseparable from the rest of the projects of its leader, a tireless activist in constant rebellion against the "prêt-à-penser." "This record was invented in ten days. When Nagi Baz offered to let us use his studio for a week, we had just finished recording 'Doctor Chance 93.' The plan was immediately to pay a sort of tribute to my writer friend Jean-François Charpin (1957-1987), an accomplice of the Sex Pistols, who had initiated the Chalet du Lac concert in September 1976, before creating the excellent and fleeting avant-garde magazine Grabuge in 1978 (two issues published). We spent a whole weekend with Jack Belsen laying the foundations of six tracks from machine matrices, looping rhythms, while I wrote at full speed on the typewriter. On Monday I finished formatting the raw lyrics while Belsen recorded the rhythms. The next day, it was my turn to record the vocals as one - then Jac Berrocal and Little Drake played their instrumental parts. Two days of mixing later, it was finished. The following monday, Nagi Baz left his record label. after thirty years, the reissue of 'Feu!' (augmented by 'Génotype Du Messagero Killer Boy,' recorded just before I left for Chile in 1994) turns out to be a double eulogy for J.F. Charpin, but also for Jack Belsen, who was abruptly snatched from life for one awful season, between late spring 2018 and his death on 7 December the following year." (F.J. Ossang). MKB has been highly regarded in the French underground music scene and has gained a cult following over the years. They are often associated with the No Wave and post-punk movements, and their music has been praised for its raw energy and unconventional sound.

Clifford Jordan was actually supposed to perform at Paradiso on September 10, 1969, but at that time the stage was facing problems and closed for a month. He diverts to VARA studio 7 in Hilversum with pianist Cees Slinger, bassist Ruud Jacobs, drummer Han Bennink and percussionist Steve Boston. Three of the four pieces Jordan puts on the lectern he recorded in early 1969 for the Strata-East label under the album title 'In The World.'

The missing link in Argentina's jazz history finally sees the light. 'Coraje Buenos Aires' was recorded in 1973, conceived as a follow-up to the historic 'Bronca Buenos Aires' (1971). More explicitly than its predecessor, the texts in 'Coraje' denounced the atrocities of the military junta that ruled the country, and the album was inevitably censored before being released. The tapes, thought to have been burnt and forever lost, were recently discovered in the archive of the late Jorge López Ruiz, allowing us to finally listen to 'Coraje' fifty years after being recorded. As usual, Jorge López Ruiz recruited some of the best musicians around to play with him, this time pianist Santiago Giacobbe, drummer Pocho Lapouble and guitarist Ricardo Lew (all three members of Quinteplus at that time), as well as Hugo Pierre and Jaime Prats on alto and tenor sax respectively. Mastered from the original tapes by Pablo López Ruiz. Includes foldout sheet with bilingual notes by author José Tcherkaski and an English translation of the album's song texts.

Algerian singer and musician Lili Boniche was born in Algiers on March 14, 1921, and died on March 6, 2008. He was famous for his contribution to Judeo-Arabic music, and particularly associated with chaâbi, a musical genre popular in Algeria that blends Arab, Berber and French influences. Born Eliaou Élie Boniche, and he grew up in a Sephardic Jewish family and became interested in music at an early age. His musical career really took off in the 1940s and 1950s, when he recorded numerous hits that helped popularize the Judeo-Arabic repertoire. His unique style blended elements of Arabic music, jazz and tango, creating a captivating musical fusion. He is widely recognized for his mastery of the lute and his distinctive voice. His lyrics were often poetic, reflecting the everyday life, love and culture of his time. Lili Boniche left an indelible mark on the North African music scene. His legacy lives on in his recordings, which continue to be listened to and enjoyed by music lovers the world over.
