Kane reissue collection is 1989's astonishing double-LP 'i' which followed up on '69's promise and saw the duo fully unleash their experimental pop sensibilities over 26 tracks, plunging the A.R. Kane sound into a dazzlingly kaleidoscopic vision of pop experiment and play. Suffused with new digital technologies and combining searingly sweet and danceable pop with perhaps the duo's strangest and boundary-pushing compositions, the album did exactly what a
great double-set should do - indulge the artists sprawling pursuit of their own imaginations but always with a concision and an ear for those moments where pop both transcends and toys with the listeners expectations.

My Solid Ground were a German progressive rock band active in the 1970s. This obscure krautrock album from 1971 has long been considered a classic of the genre. The first track, the 13-minute 'Dirty Yellow Mist,' certainly lives up to its reputation as the group embark on a dark space rock journey.
It sounds like a mixture of psychedelic rock and progressive rock with lots of long keyboard tones, a crunchy guitar riff, some acid guitar sounds and distorted chanting as well as some wordless vocals in higher pitches. 'That's You' has enough energy to pass for proto-punk, and the chorus of "Do you wanna die" doesn't detract from this impression. The song 'The Executioner' is a dark piece that alternates between echoing vocals and intense guitar solos. The songs on the album are characterized by catchy melodies, experimental sounds and lyrical lyrics. If you are a fan of progressive rock or enjoy discovering new music, My Solid Ground could be an interesting choice for you.

Liliental was formed during Dieter Moebius' creative hiatus from the Krautrock band Cluster. Moebius was supported by Kraan members Helmut Hattler (electric bass), Johannes Pappert (alto saxophone), Okko Becker (keyboards, vocals, guitar, percussion) and Asmus Tietchens (Moog, grand piano). Conny Plank, who also played on several Cluster albums, completed the quartet on guitar, keyboards and vocals. Presented on 180-GRAM VINYL are previously unreleased recordings from this post-hardcore band formed in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. The band's sound was sometimes called "slack-core" and was charactarized by frequent odd-time signatures and Chris Thomson's string-of-consciousness lyrics. After releasing a 7-inch single, the band relocated to Thomson's native Washington DC where they recorded two full-lengths and a single for Dischord Records. The LP comes with a printed inner sleeve.

Repress of 1000 copies! This 19 track double LP is a recut of the 2014 release of a live concert recorded at Paddington Town Hall (Sydney Australia) in December 1977. Recorded just prior to the band's departure for the UK to promote the Sire release of their 'Radios Appear' album, this recording was mixed from 16 track master tapes that had languished forgotten for decades. It is a totally wild and raw record that captures the band's true primal energy perhaps in a way that other recordings haven't. The songs represent a wide selection of their originals along with covers of Blue Oyster Cult, MC5 and Bo Diddley.

Rippikoulu began their musical endeavours back in the late eighties, and like so many of their contemporaries, evolved from primitive punk noise to death metal. However, while many bands played death metal with groovy riffing and overall headbanging attitude, Rippikoulu's choice of style was darker. Their downtuned metal is bleak and nearly unbearably heavy in its execution, dark and soul-searching in its themes, intertwining faster bursts of chaos with slow, doomy passages.
Rippikoulu released the 'Musta Seremonia' demo album on tape in 1993 and then disappeared. They never gained much popularity in their time, but their legacy has steadily grown in time. The album has been carefully remastered from the original DAT master tape, cleaned up and amplified.

Formed in 2017 in Canada, Traveler released the same-titled debut full-length in 2019 meeting a mind-blowing response from fans and media. 'Daudswiärk' is Horn's 10th studio album, following the 20th anniversary of the black metal project. Stylistically, 'Daudswiärk' - "Work of Death" in the Low German variant formerly spoken in the Münsterland region - takes a few steps back in time after the rather experimental, multi-instrumental folk-influenced album 'Verzet,' reverting to the basic metal instruments, resulting in a concise, fast and short full-length album devoid of intros, outros or interludes. It features a very somber overarching tone compared to the rather upbeat Horn albums of the last years - blast beats, scattered dystopian synths, a heavy shift towards extreme vocals instead of clean ones. The output was produced by M. Stock (Empyrium/The Vision Bleak/Sun of the Sleepless) at the renowned Studio E2 and features a rough and dense sound heavily favoring the bass guitar and drum work.

Re-reissue of Cranes über rare (cassette only) debut album 'Fuse' on Dadaphonic. The 'Fuse' album was remastered at Abbey Road in 2023 an includes an extra unheard track from the period called 'New Liberty.' Artwork is by Chris Bigg of V23. The second in a series of archive releases by Cranes, 'Fuse' was recorded in Portsmouth, their home town by siblings Alison and Jim Shaw. It originally appeared as a cassette album in 1986 on the Bite Back! label. With an initial run of only 200 copies, over the years this album, with its distinctive purple cover has been highly sought after amongst fans. 'Fuse' showcases a sparser, darker and more industrial, post punk sound. From the hypnotic allure and rhythmic intensity of the title track to the ferocious and challenging beats of 'Wrench,' the songs are just as mesmerising as Cranes' later, critically acclaimed releases.

Following 2022's 'Rough Dimension' LP, Noel Skum - aka Andrew Clinco of Drab Majesty - made the radical leap of expanding his psychedelic post-punk vehicle VR Sex into a fully collaborative five-piece band. To christen the new group's camaraderie, they booked a block of studio time in Glassell Park, swapped skeletal iPhone demos, and "did that classic thing of a band making the exact record they want without any interference." Working 12-hour days, they banged out the basics in a week, then tracked the rest over a month, fine-tuning it with flourishes, FX, and amplifier experiments. 'Hard Copy' is the result - 10 tracks of sneering psychedelic punk streaked with Chrome-damaged freak-outs and snotty power pop harmonies chronicling sex doll love affairs and glue-sniffing fatales. Mixed by guitarist Mike Kriebel - an accomplished engineer with dozens of credits across the punk, goth, and garage underground - the album is dense, rich, and spatial, spurred by Clinco's muse of "reckless abandon." Shadows of Chrome, Stickmen With Rayguns, Japanese psych, and loud-quiet-loud grunge anthems flicker here and there, but ultimately VR Sex's mode is more sardonic and saturated, oscillating between ripped leather riffing and space echo meltdowns. Re-reissue of Cranes über rare (cassette only) debut album 'Fuse' on Dadaphonic. The 'Fuse' album was remastered at Abbey Road in 2023 an includes an extra unheard track from the period called 'New Liberty.' Artwork is by Chris Bigg of V23. The second in a series of archive releases by Cranes, 'Fuse' was recorded in Portsmouth, their home town by siblings Alison and Jim Shaw. It originally appeared as a cassette album in 1986 on the Bite Back! label. With an initial run of only 200 copies, over the years this album, with its distinctive purple cover has been highly sought after amongst fans. 'Fuse' showcases a sparser, darker and more industrial, post punk sound. From the hypnotic allure and rhythmic intensity of the title track to the ferocious and challenging beats of 'Wrench,' the songs are just as mesmerising as Cranes' later, critically acclaimed releases.

Following 2022's 'Rough Dimension' LP, Noel Skum - aka Andrew Clinco of Drab Majesty - made the radical leap of expanding his psychedelic post-punk vehicle VR Sex into a fully collaborative five-piece band. To christen the new group's camaraderie, they booked a block of studio time in Glassell Park, swapped skeletal iPhone demos, and "did that classic thing of a band making the exact record they want without any interference." Working 12-hour days, they banged out the basics in a week, then tracked the rest over a month, fine-tuning it with flourishes, FX, and amplifier experiments. 'Hard Copy' is the result - 10 tracks of sneering psychedelic punk streaked with Chrome-damaged freak-outs and snotty power pop harmonies chronicling sex doll love affairs and glue-sniffing fatales. Mixed by guitarist Mike Kriebel - an accomplished engineer with dozens of credits across the punk, goth, and garage underground - the album is dense, rich, and spatial, spurred by Clinco's muse of "reckless abandon." Shadows of Chrome, Stickmen With Rayguns, Japanese psych, and loud-quiet-loud grunge anthems flicker here and there, but ultimately VR Sex's mode is more sardonic and saturated, oscillating between ripped leather riffing and space echo meltdowns.

'His Master's Voice' is the second album from the Norwegian band X-pleasure, released 20 years after their debut album. All music and lyrics are written by Dan Heide and arranged by the whole band. Heavy-rock/bluesy sound with West Coast overtones and some devastating fuzz-wah guitar. Originally named Strawberry Dust, Ancient Grease was a hard psychedelic band from Wales, connected to Eyes Of Blue and Racing Cars. They were supported by John Weathers (Eyes Of Blue) who also acted as producer and songwriter for their sole album, recorded in London. When eventually released in 1970, 'Women And Children First' was credited to Ancient Grease instead of Strawberry Dust (one of those "great" ideas by major labels). The album was first issued in the US and later in the UK, both on the Mercury label but with different sleeves (being the UK one the most desirable and collectable). Comes with remastered sound, original UK artwork and color insert with liner notes and photos. RIYL: Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Cactus, Captain Beefheart, Red Dirt.

Repress on black vinyl! A modal masterpiece from 1959, 'Kind Of Blue' is a true classic that never gets old, no matter how many times you listen to it. Bill Evans' understated piano is the perfect foil for Miles' melodies, contrasted by the soaring alto sax of Cannonball Adderley; Jimmy Cobb and Paul Chambers keep the rhythm section steady but unobtrusive, allowing Miles and Cannonball to shine. 'So What' and 'Freddie Freeloader' are seductive, deceptive gems, imparting all the frustration, begrudging and joy as only a great jazz record can; 'Blue In Green' and 'All Blue' have melancholy hues and 'Flamenco Sketches' a precursor to 'Sketches Of Spain'. Every household should have at least one copy of 'Kind Of Blue', one of the greatest records ever made.

Originally released in 1971, the Fuchsia album is one of the best examples of British progressive and psychedelic folk-rock, full on inventive arrangements and songwriting. Here's a long overdue vinyl reissue. Fuchsia was formed by a group of Exeter University students. They were Tony Durant (previously of psych band Louise) on acoustic/electric guitars and vocals; Michael Day on bass and Michael Gregory on drums plus the three-piece classical ensemble of Vanessa Hall-Smith (violin, backing vocals); Janet Rogers (violin, backing vocals) and Madeleine Bland (cello, piano, harmonium, backing vocals). Signed to Pegasus Records (the "progressive" branch of B&C Records), Fuchsia recorded their self-titled album at Sound Techniques studio with producer David Hitchcock (Caravan, Mellow Candle, Genesis, Camel...) The main inspiration for the album was Tony Durant's readings of Mervyn Peake's gothic novels such as 'Titus Groan' and its fictional character Lady Fuchsia Groan.
Like some of their contemporaries (Comus, Mellow Candle...) Fuchsia only started gaining recognition in the following decades, thanks to fans of obscure psychedelic folk. Today, Tony Durant leads a new version of Fuchsia, still playing and recording. Newly remastered sound. Original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve. Insert with liner notes and rare photos/memorabilia. OASIS (USA) - OASIS
Another psych holy grail finally seeing the light of day. Oasis was an American rock band from Marin County, California active in the 1970s. They eventually morphed from the prog-folk ensemble R J Fox. Their self-titled debut album was released as a private press in 1973 by the Cranbus label in a small run of 150 copies, imagine that... The record was in fact never released in the States but only in Canada, such a mystery today. Coming from the west coast the band - led by female vocalist and eclectic piano player Sherry Fox - was certainly informed by local stalwarts (Ultimate Spinach and Jefferson Airplane may come to mind) but had certain similarities with the Allman Brothers country rock guitars and David Crosby vocal harmonies circa 'If I Could Only Remember My Name'. Not to mention the key jazz folk albums of Joni Mitchell. Here's a superb psychedelic folk rock manifesto, still fascinating and over the top, in the name of universal love.
