ANANDAMMIDE - EURA Anandammide is a psychedelic folk project based in Paris and led by the Italian singer-songwriter Michele Moschini. It all started in Paris, where Michele lives since 2007. Coming from the Italian rock, prog and psychedelic scene (he's been the singer of Italian progressive band Floating State for a decade, releasing an album in 2003 on Lizard Records and taking part in a King Crimson's tribute album released on Mellow Records), in 2018 he gathered a few musicians from a British-French community orchestra. The debut album, 'Earthly Paradise' (2020, Lizard Records) has been acclaimed by critics. Almost four years later, Anandammide releases a new album, 'EURA,' featuring musicians from France, England, Italy and Sweden, most of them also appearing on 'Earthly Paradise.' Lisa Isaksson from Me And My Kites and Lisa o Piu sings on three songs, while two old friends, Lelio Mulas and Lorenzo Castigliego from Italy play bass and electric guitar. This album is less acoustic than the first one; the medieval and baroque influences are less present and the lyrics have abandoned the existential speculations to focus on the abiliy of man for self-destruction. Even the search for love loses its meaning, but the four-eyed girl from a late sixties drawing by Dino Buzzati hung on the wall in the parents' house still remains the symbol of the ideal woman. NURSE WITH WOUND - THUNDER PERFECT MIND (2CD) The original release of Nurse with Wound's gargantuan 'Thunder Perfect Mind' in 1992 coincided with that of Current 93's homonymous genre-defining album. Legend has it that the gnostic name initially appeared to Steven Stapleton in a dream as the title of Tibet's then still nameless upcoming album. Both records feature contributions from David Tibet, Colin Potter, Rose McDowall, John Balance of Coil, Alan Trench of Orchis and Joolie Wood amongst others. The title and the partial overlap of the personnel on both albums isn't quite where the similarities end, both albums have since become undisputed milestones in their respective artists' oeuvre. At the core of the definitive 2023 Infinite Fog re-release fully overseen by Steven Stapleton are the two original tracks 'Cold' - a classic unsettling rhythmic Nurse collage-fest, significantly closer to jittery psychedelia than the oft-cited "industrial feel" and the epic 'Colder Still,' easily one of the most mind-bending breathtaking NWW compositions up to this point and well beyond. The track soothes ghostly atmosphere and reveals new surprises with every listen, not least of which is a direct link to its sister release from C93 as well as the first appearance of the signature rhythm loop that would mutate and re-emerge on several later tracks. The album also is the first full-length collaboration with genius sound wizard Colin Potter who has since become a ubiquitous sidekick both on Nurse albums as well as in live performances. As a follow-up to what is widely acknowledged as one of the best-loved exercises in drone of the 20th century 'Soliloquy For Lilith,' 'TPM' is a much more varied but at least equally rewarding experience. OIUN, OIDUPAA VLADIMIR - DIVINE MUSIC FROM A JAIL Oidupaa Vladimir Oyun was a Tuvan musician and a man with an amazing, but really heavy destiny, a man of unbending will and divine talent and the creator of a unique style of throat singing, accompanied by playing the button accordion. Researchers described Oidupaa's style as blues and emphasized the complexity of this style of performance, which requires the singer to exert a lot of tension on the vocal cords. This is the author's unique version of the deepest and most powerful type of throat singing - the Kargyraa. Oidupaa spent 33 years of his 55 years of life in prison - in fact, this album was recorded in prison. Oidupaa himself claimed that his conflicts with Soviet legislation were slander, which often happened with other Tuvan artists of that time. During his imprisonment, Oidupaa Vladimir became a believer and glorified God through his songs, thereby creating an unprecedented combination of Tuvan throat singing and Christian tradition: "With all my voice, throughout the whole universe, I glorify you, my Heavenly Father - among distant people, among near people, through the channels mass media, through the TV screen, through a cassette recorder, in prisons and camps, I glorify your name, my Heavenly Father!" Oidupaa's style is pure freedom of creativity and self-expression. His style of unconventional performance of throat singing delights both professionals and musicologists, as well as the common listener. Often living on the road, he found listeners and admirers everywhere. Performing at train stations among crowds was his distinctive feature. In the early '90s, thanks to a caring fan from Japan, the artist gained some fame and gave concerts in Sweden and Switzerland. After returning from Switzerland he was arrested and imprisoned for 15 years. During this prison time, according to Oidupaa, he achieved true mastery. He claimed to have brought his music to total perfection, in a way that no one would be able to copy his style in the next hundred years. In prison his mastery in musical performance and immersion in faith and revelation of the spirit were fused. It was in prison wherehe reorded his nowadays iconic album. In terms of his level of performing skills, Oidupaa was undoubtedly a unique musician. Oidupaa's immersion into the depths of his music and his emotional energy can hardly come just out just from a human, it comes much more from another dimension. It's an unprecedented giftedness of God and nature, strongly affected by a extremely hard life. Oidupaa is a man from other spheres, in which own concepts and values apply. It's a tragedy that this man, having freedom as his main value, was again and again deprived from it in prison. From time to time, performers appear on the Tuvan stage who attempt to copy Oidupaa in the manner of playing and performing Kargyraa. The presence of imitators is a sure sign of the exclusivity of Oidupaa's creative personality and uniqueness. Twelve years after the death of that talented man, Ebalunga!!! wants to honor his memory and bring his music back to today's audience with an 25 anniversary re-release of his only full-length album, 'Divine Music From Jail.'
