Ohio was a hotbed for hard rock at the time with bands like the James Gang, Glass Harp, Poobah, Left End, Damnation Of Adam Blessing... what you get here matches the style any of those bands laid down. Gary's music grabs you immediately and grows over time. Grabber and Grower... best of both worlds style! It makes sense that Gary later owned a recording studio, right out of the gate he was laser focussed on all the aspects involved in making music that stands the test of time. The guitar action is incredible, shards of sound flying free yet hitting the bullseye continuously, vocals confident with none of the macho posturing that ages poorly in much early hard rock. These tracks are all vividly recorded and meticulously mixed in a way that balances fiery performance and intelligent structure to maximum effect. The bass and drumming here are phenomenally inventive and propulsive, the several players involved across the album nail it in their support of Gary's vision. This is rock music born in the 'anything is possible' life affirming energy of the late '60s right on time with where the most enduring artists of the early '70s took it. Had he scored the major label deal he pursued with labels like Mercury or London at the time I am confident we'd be hearing his music on classic rock radio today! Excavated from the archives of a long-time roadie and brought back from the brink of disintegration comes this double album set featuring live material recorded during several nights in Topeka, Kansas circa 1974. Truth And Janey are captured here in raw form doing what they did best, stretching out into extended jam sessions featuring heavy guitar action from Billy Janey, booming fuzz bass from Steve Bock, held together by Denis Bunce locked in the zone behind his drum kit. 'Midnight Horsemen,' originally released as as 3-minute single in 1972, is featured here as a side-long 22-minute jam and is a prime example of vintage Truth and Janey. Also included are several previously unreleased songs which have not been heard in over 40 years, as well as early versions of 'Down The Road' and 'My Mind,' from their 1976 underground hard-rock classic debut album 'No Rest For The Wicked.'

'Väistyy Mielen Yö,' the third album of the Finnish prog band Viima was slowly worked on for 12 years, sometimes with a closer pace and sometimes with a break of several years. Some changes in the line-up took place during these years. Keyboardist Kimmo Lähteenmäki left the band in 2011, but his playing can be heard on a couple of tracks on the album. His successor, Eric Marquis, was present at Viima's concerts. Next, Risto Pahlama, who is present on this album, took over the keyboards and the duties of the lead vocalist after Hannu Hiltula moved more in the background. As before, Hannu Hiltula (flute, keyboards, backing vocals), Mikko Uusi-Oukari (guitars, Mellotron) and Mikko Väärälä (drums, vocals, keyboards) are responsible for the compositions on this '70s spirit album. Aapo Honkanen plays bass. The lyrics were written by Petri Hyytiä and Mikko Väärälä.

Once referred to as an all-star roots/voodoo combo, The Flesh Eaters could only have crawled out of the myst of the late L.A. '70s punk scene. Fronted by punk poet/composer Chris D. (Desjardins), the band was a satellite for exquisite collaborators that allowed him to bring the full force of his dark, messed-up lyrical nightmares. Members of X, Wall Of Voodoo, Los Lobos, The Blasters, and The Plugz all hopped into his unmarked car to take a drive with Chris D. Its grabbed-by-the-throat vocals are powerfully buoyed by the tight melodicism emanating from the players on this record (John Doe and DJ Bonebrake from X, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, Dave Alvin & Bill Bateman of The Blasters). Hell, we even get the perfectly executed John Doe original, 'Cyrano de Berger's Back,' which was re-recorded by X in 1987. The creators of this record made a pulp novel for your ears with an equal chance to scar your heart. Do not miss out-this is punk noir at its greatest. Comes on ruby red vinyl.

Repress on red vinyl. Formed in 1976, the Zeros, were one of the pioneers of the L.A. punk explosion in the late '70s that included bands such as with the Germs, X, and the Weirdos. They released their now classic first singles 'Wimp' b/w 'Don't Push Me Around' and 'Beat Your Heart Out' b/w 'Wild Weekend' on Bomp in 1977 and 1978. This is the repress of their 1980 album which includes their studio recordings and demos.

Terry's follow-up to his 1975 album 'Fatsticks' is finally available again. 'Blue Redondo' was recorded during 1977-1978 after he had relocated from London to El Segundo, California and still owed his label another album. They passed on the material and the tapes sat in storage until the early 2000s when Terry had the material pressed onto a short run CD pressing to sell at his local solo gigs and via mail order. This the first time any of the tunes have been available on vinyl, recovered from the original master tapes. This pairs perfectly with the double album of Terry's home demos 'Twenty Rough Rotters'.

"Gothics" - a time before the word goth had even taken shape - believed in the do-it-yourself punk ethos that anyone could pick up an instrument. As any true punk would, Xmal Deutschland's members Caro May, Rita Simon, Manuela Rickers, Fiona Sangster and Anja Huwe, started the band despite any previous musical experience. The 'Schwarze Welt' seven-inch was released on the local punk label, ZickZack, in 1981 and introduced Huwe's venomous German vocals, the band's peacocked hair and thick kohl-lined eyes. Xmal Deutschland's music retained both a restlessness and delicacy, transcending any confines of the "Neue Deutsche Welle" movement, much like their colleagues and friends DAF and Einstürzende Neubauten, with the release of the 'Incubus Succubus' single in 1982. That same year, the band performed in London as support for the Cocteau Twins; it was the platform they needed to have their breakthrough. 'Early Singles 1981-1982', is a map of the foundational movements of Xmal Deutschland, just seconds before takeoff. Bonus tracks on the compilation, 'Kaellbermarsch' and a gritty live version of 'Allein', further accentuate their fusion of toughness with the quixotic decadence of atmospheric synthesizers.
