Repress of 200 copies on coke bottle clear vinyl. The first official vinyl reissue of a top Canadian psych rock record from 1969. Comes with full colour insert, featuring band history and photos. In the spring of 1969, 49th Parallel had a hit with 'Twilight Woman,' a lovely song that sounds like a poppier version of what bands like Tomorrow were doing in England. That success led to the release of 49th Parallel's only album. The album is strong throughout, from the pulsating psychedelia of 'Lazerander Filchy' and the ultra-strange '(The) Magician,' the shimmering beauty of 'Twilight Woman,' to the quintessential slashing guitars punk edginess of 'Now That I'm A Man' and '(Come On Little Child And) Talk To Me.' Dan Lowe's blazing fuzz guitar work stands out on 'Missouri' and also when matched by organist Jack Velker's brilliant work on 'Eye To Eye,' 'Talk To Me' and 'The People.'

The Ramones once rejoiced the world with the song 'Something To Believe In,' which is, curiously enough (?) about the absence of something to believe in. Long before that Roxy Music had a photograph of a siren - a famous model washed upon the shore - on the cover of their same titled album. So what's the connection between those two? Well, here's the catch: the siren in 'Please, Will You Believe Me,' the last song of 'Karaoke Parkman Blues,' begs to be believed and taken for real... Just as the infamous karaoke parkman himself, a guy in slacks and sneakers, with a smartphone and big headphones, strolling in the park and singing Beatles-songs so loudly (out of context and sometimes even out of tune...) that it echoes through the neighborhood. A siren in his own way. So, we hope you'll believe in this batch of Bingo Trappers-songs and take them for real... They're about dates who are carrying drama-writing-books, packs of stray dogs as a sign of the times, and choppers in the sky. Also about philosophers like Plato and Mark E. Smith and the offspring of Marvel-superheroes... And a gender-fluid pear (like in the fruit)... Dancing in the desert. Well, whatever. The Amsterdam based Bingo Trappers are the moniker of songwriter and singer Waldemar Noë and multi-instrumentalist Wim Elzinga, who also makes the arrangements and recordings of their prolific oeuvre, which starts out in 1995 with the cassette 'More/Soul' on the legendary Shrimper-label. They've been active ever since, Rolling Stone mentions them as special pick with their CD-only release 'Juanita Ave.' in 2001, and in the last decade they're on a steady vinyl-streak with the albums 'Sister Planet' ('13), 'Elizabethan' ('18) and 'Giddy Wishes' ('20) (for the complete discography, see their Bandcamp-page). Their music is tasty enough to dub it a delicious stew of sixties-twangs, bluesy strums, luring slide-guitars or pedal-steels, warm vocals and tickling choirs. Please enjoy.

Despite already (if a little unbeknownst) being considered crust pioneers, by 1988, Hellbastard had firmly inserted themselves, even proudly so, in between a series of bifurcated genre schisms well-protected by those scene's respected guardians. Their official debut, 'Heading For Internal Darkness' no less perfectly exemplifies that schism. With Wendy V Gill's haunted-cosmos monologues injecting some transcendental light into the neck otherwise being mercilessly ripped to pieces by Scruff and Scotty's spaced-out vocal grunts, opener 'We Had Evidence' to the equally arresting elevator-shaft-with-a-mind-of-its-own 'Death Camp' to 'The Pylons' whip up seriously dark whirlwinds into atmospheric dances of rapid energy and relentless spasms of spellcasting drama. Never mind metal, too punk for anything.

Formed in 1990 in Gothenburg Sweden by twin brothers Per ('Hellbutcher') and Erik ('Tyrant') Gustafsson, early incarnations of the band featured Jon Nödtveidt and John Zwetsloot of Dissection in their ranks, and in total the band recorded four full length albums and several EP's until recently splitting up,and splintering into two new acts finally laying Nifelheim to rest. Nifelheim found mainstream exposure and were dubbed 'Bröderna hårdrock' ('Heavy Metal Brothers') in 1998 when Tyrant and Hellbutcher were featured in a Swedish TV documentary detailing their superfan obsession with Iron Maiden.

Acrostichon is one of the earliest and still existing death metals band from The Netherlands. Acrostichon was formed in August 1989. In March 1990 they recorded their debut demo which gained the band a lot of label attention. In March 1992 they recorded their debut album, called 'Engraved In Black,' with producer Colin Richardson (Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Cradle of Filth). The booklet and inlays contain several outstanding artworks, old posters, pictures, flyers and liner notes from guitar player Richard (Master, Massacre, Napalm Death). Engineered by Oscar Holleman (Gorefest, The Gathering, Within Temptation). Six live tracks as bonus from their never to be reissued second album.

Now, four years later, they explore new sonic territories with their second album, 'Vale Of The Fallen.' While 'Beyond Darkness' was a concept album that propelled listeners into space, whether inner or outer, 'Vale Of The Fallen' brings us back to twisted reality. Their more in-your-face approach should only intensify the experience-much like a walk through a post-apocalyptic landscape in the bleakest imaginable conditions. Sound-wise, Stephen Flam's heavier-than-life riffs, Vas Kallas' sardonic delivery and Tony Pinnisi's keyboards create oppressive atmospheres atop Jason Frantz's powerful drumming, while in contrast Margaret Murphy's violin weaves ghostly motifs. Formed in 1990 in Gothenburg Sweden by twin brothers Per ('Hellbutcher') and Erik ('Tyrant') Gustafsson, early incarnations of the band featured Jon Nödtveidt and John Zwetsloot of Dissection in their ranks, and in total the band recorded four full length albums and several EP's until recently splitting up,and splintering into two new acts finally laying Nifelheim to rest. Nifelheim found mainstream exposure and were dubbed 'Bröderna hårdrock' ('Heavy Metal Brothers') in 1998 when Tyrant and Hellbutcher were featured in a Swedish TV documentary detailing their superfan obsession with Iron Maiden.

New Wave Of British Heavy Metal act Apocalypse from London was formed by guitarist Steve Grainger around 1980. The band emerged from two bands in North London, Phaze and Stone Lady. Originally Nick Brent Dave (Mex) Higgen (Stone Lady) and Marc and Steve Grainger. (Phaze) Mex left the band to move in a different direction and to set up the Octave Studio and PA Company in North London. Dave Robertson joined and Apocalypse were established. Ironically it was Dave (Mex) Higgen who named the band Apocalypse. It took the band two years to release their one and only single called 'Stormchild' for Gate Records. After minor personnel problems with another band of the same name the band changed their name to Omega and recorded the number 'Blood Sacrifice' for Ebony's rather obscure 'Metal Warriors' compilation (issued in 1983).

After first playing the West Coast shows with bands like Pelican and Noothgrush among others, Winter returned to their hometown New York on September 2nd and played a show in Brooklyn's Warsaw with their best line-up; Stephen Flam/guitar, John Alman/bass and vocals, Jim Jackson/drums and original keyboardist Tony Pinnisi who played with the band first time since recording 'Into Darkness' LP in 1989. The rare appearance of this performance in Brooklyn, featuring all their classic tunes like Servants of the Warsmen, Power and Might, Destiny, Eternal Frost etc. was recorded, and is now presented here for all their fans. This isn't any cheap nostalgia driven reunion cash out, but a real and raw deal. RISE!

Jacksonville-based rock band Cold, which was originally
released in 2005. It was recorded with award-winning producer
Michael Baskette, who also worked with Alter Bridge, Limp

explored the band's melodic and less aggressive sound that
they first initiated with the predecessor Year Of The Spider.
However, Cold proved that heaviness isn't a requirement for

Both Tymon Dogg and Richard Dudanski had musical roots playing in The 101'ers with future Clash-hero Joe Strummer. All three shared a deep love for southern Spain. Tymon's career began with beguiling interactions with Apple Records, The Moody Blues and future Led Zeppelin members John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page before he discovered his true musical self as a punk-folk experimentalist. Richard (who had already spent time in Spain) played in Basement 5, PiL, The Raincoats and others before returning to Granada which subsequently became second home to Tymon and Joe. On these recent sessions the gentlemen team up with some of Spain's leading punk musicians. If you imagine the playful elasticity of 'Sandinista!' recast into a more straightforward record, you're halfway there. Guests include Killing Joke bassist and famed producer Youth, and Dr Robert from The Blow Monkeys.

Both Tymon Dogg and Richard Dudanski had musical roots playing
in The 101'ers with future Clash-hero Joe Strummer. All three
shared a deep love for southern Spain. Tymon's career began
with beguiling interactions with Apple Records, The Moody Blues
and future Led Zeppelin members John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page
before he discovered his true musical self as a punk-folk
experimentalist. Richard (who had already spent time in Spain)
played in Basement 5, PiL, The Raincoats and others before
returning to Granada which subsequently became second home to
Tymon and Joe. On these recent sessions the gentlemen team up with some of Spain's leading punk musicians. If you imagine the
playful elasticity of 'Sandinista!' recast into a more
straightforward record, you're halfway there. Guests include
Killing Joke bassist and famed producer Youth, and Dr Robert
from The Blow Monkeys.

They won a quarter-hour (!!) recording session, presumably as part of a Battle Of The Bands contest or similar; their prize certificate indicates that the recordings would be "forwarded to several record companies for their consideration" - reasonable to assume that nothing came of it, as no releases were forthcoming and the band were lost in obscurity... VEJTABLES - HIDE YOURSELF/GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING
Californian legends THE VEJTABLES should need no real introduction here, starting out on the equally legendary Autumn label (home to the Beau Brummels, Mojo Men etc). Their 1st 45, 'I Still Love You' (produced by Sly Stewart aka Sly Stone) was a sizeable national hit in late '65, a fantastic combination of folk rock and British Invasion sounds. Another single followed with less success, then sadly the label folded, leaving the group in a state of limbo. After some personnel changes (including Richard Fortunato, ex-Preachers, and pre-WC Fields Memorial Electric String Band/ESB), they recorded some more sides at Golden State Recorders in April/May '66, this time in a more experimental, proto-psych style. From these sessions, another single emerged: 'Shadows' b/w 'Feel The Music'. Recorded at the sessions, but unreleased at the time, were the 2 sides on this record. First issued by Big Beat in 1994, these new masters are previously unreleased mono mixes, taken from the original studio acetate. Includes super-cool double-sided insert. Limited to 750 copies!

Zakary Thaks, youthful pride of Corpus Christi, could quite easily take the prize as the most precious and forward-thinking of all texas 1960's garage bands, save for the admittedly more seasoned 13th Floor Elevators. The evidence is plain for all to hear on 'A Passage To India.' EM Forster inspired the title, the Yardbirds inspired the arrangement, but the Thaks lent their own youthful impetuosity to this remarkable blend of wide-eyed mysticism and teenaged nervous tension. It makes its debut on 45RPM vinyl here, as does 'It's The End,' an obscure original from the band's early repertoire that superficially channels the Kinks but otherwise 100% Thaks sound: dynamic rhythm section, guitars both precise and flagrant, and a superbly poised vocal. Play loud and raise a glass to these Gulf Coast teens, the likes of whom rock'n'roll will probably never see or hear again. Recorded 1st November (Side A) and 25th September, 1966 (Side B) at ACA-Gold Star Studios, Houston, Texas.

Acting and singing prodigy child Marisol is one of the greatest stars in Spain ever. She was incredibly big in her country, and her popularity soon reached other lands, some as far away as Japan where she issued some records and even recorded one of her hits in Japanese.
