A 7" single from a new Portuguese band, Beautify Junkyards, featuring a suitably beautiful version of Nick Drakes song (acid-folk meets psychedelia meets subtle electronica, and all recorded in a field), together with superb version of Os Mutantes Fuga No.2, which combines that distinctive Latin American take on psychedelia with electronics courtesy of the always-excellent Neotropic.
"its always a risk taking on a Nick Drake song, but as soon as I heard Beautify Junkyards version From The Morning, I fell in love with it - it shimmers and lifts your spirits (or at least it does mine, and Im a pretty dour Brummie) I hope you feel the same way. Ive always felt I should appreciate Os Mutantes more than I do -and this new version of Fuga No.2 has given me the encouragement to reinvestigate the bands back-catalogue - although I have to admit to much-preferring this new interpretation to the original.
